    Combination Udon
    Ian C.

Grabbed a quick dinner at Wakaba before a work flight, and it did the job--especially if you're in the mood for something warm and comforting like soba or udon. It's the only Asian choice in that part of the terminal where it was busy, but quiet and filled with lots of surrounding tables to enjoy your meal. They had a kiosk for sushi and sashimi for you to pick as well for those on the go. Not sure what protein to go with, I appreciated that they offered a combo bowl that included beef, chicken, shrimp tempura, and tofu--a little bit of everything. The service was impressively fast; my udon was served within three minutes of ordering. The broth was flavorful and satisfying, but the proteins were a mixed bag. The beef was overcooked and dry, and it was clear that most of the items (like the chicken and shrimp tempura) were pre-cooked, likely to keep pace with the airport's grab-and-go environment. One small gripe: the green onions were chopped rather carelessly--not what you'd expect from a professional kitchen. That said, the portion was generous for the price $19.5 + tax, and it kept me full through the rest of the night. Overall, it's a decent option if you're short on time in Terminal 2. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but I'd consider it if I needed something quick and warm before a flight.

Got this meal at the airport while waiting on a flight back home. The service was good. The food was tasty. Big pieces of flavorful chicken and a nice size portion. Affordable meal for an airport, I spent $23 for the spicy chicken bowl and refillable water bottle. If ever in SFO give Wakaba Sushi & Noodle a visit.

The food at Wakaba is delicious and fresh - my favorite is the Unagi Donbori. But my favorite feature is the kind and welcoming server who remembers my order so well that, even after 3 years away due to hospitalizations, she recognized me and remembered my order today. Because of her, and the unagi, Wakaba is a favorite part of my flying day.

Solid place for a quick pre-flight lunch at SFO terminal 2 food court at the far end of the D gates. I stopped by earlier this afternoon and got a spicy chicken bowl and a miso soup. The chicken was medium spicy and passed muster, but the miso soup was delish! Service was friendly and the efficient. Tables were clean. Bill was $22.75 after tax, airport surcharges and tip. Will be back for more of that delicious miso soup!

    Beef Curry & Rice

Like most reviewers before me have said, this is a solid food stall option. I got the Beef Curry & Rice and was happy with the choice. It was ready in 2 minutes, was hot, and came with disposable wooden utensils. It's not the best Curry I've ever eaten but it's delicious for what you can get at an airport. It's a pretty good portion too. Especially when you compare it to the portions in the rest of the bay. There's a few things that could be better about it. More variety of vegetables besides potato would be nice. Also some picked sides, since I got a little bored halfway through it. And because it comes in a paper bowl, some of the rice sticks to the side and pulls off some paper. Other eaters at the tables got the sushi or noodles dishes and seemed to enjoy them. I'll probably also give those options a try the next time I'm in terminal 2.

Overpriced ramen as expected for airport food. Service is quick but when i ate my food, the broth is in room temp & lacks flavor. There is an ample seating for everyone.

Food was better than most airport food I've had and worth the price. The premade sushi was fresh. Beef Udon was filling and a good portion. I flew on Christmas Day, so the service was quick as the airport was not at all busy. There were plenty of tables and seating, but of course I'm sure it would be packed any other day.

    Chicken Teriyaki Bowl.
    Janet T.

Quick and easy to go food. Got the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl for my son. He said it was not bad. It is the same company as Sankaku Sushi & Noodle. $13.95 with a 5% employee benefit surcharge bringing the total bill of $16.02. Not too bad, reasonable pricing for airport price.

    Teriyaki chicken $13.95

I was pleasantly surprised for airport food. The portions were very large. There was enough teriyaki sauce for the chicken and rice. It wasn't crazy expensive like most airport food is. I would definitely eat here again.

    Ramen
    Carmen G.

Wandered around checking out my options for food at the SFO airport and decided I wanted something soupy. After looking at the menu thoroughly, I opted for the ramen which was just what I needed after a long work trip. The ramen came with a bunch of seaweed, green onions, bamboo shoots and three big pieces of cha siu. The broth was perfectly salted and noodles were a great texture. What I really enjoyed was definitely the big pieces of meat it came with as it was a great texture and the topping to noodle ratio was perfect. Definitely a great option if you're needing some soul food/ something that is healing and warm to the stomach. They also had a large menu with items like sushi as well. A great place for food if you're in the SF airport.

    Pork Ramen

This location is tucked in the D Gates of San Francisco International Airport. Taste is not bad although not authentic as expected. There's quite a bit of ingredients - menma, seaweed, 3-4 pcs of char siu and 3 slices of narutomaki. Price is quite decent for a bowl of ramen noodles. What's surprising is even a small stall like this charges 5% Employee Benefit Surcharge! Although it's a mere $0.75 on my bill, it is still a 5% and that's exorbitantly high. There are tables nearby that's shared with other stalls. Service is not extraordinary, just right.

    Teriyaki Chicken Bowl
    Matt Y.

Pluses: The food was fast, filling, and inexpensive relative to other airport fare. Minuses: My entree (teriyaki chicken bowl) was very clearly a stack of rice, then (not particularly high quality) chicken chunks, then mixed vegetable medley (as seen in the freezer of your local grocery), then some teriyaki sauce. It did not look like what was pictured on the menu... Overall, this was not bad, but I would not eat here again.

    Bento box
    Jordan F.

Ordered the bento box, which can run you about $20, but the portion was pretty large! Could definitely share the bento box if you're not that hungry. You do get a variety of food items in your bento box, but I would ask for the sauce to be on the side, because they put too much teriyaki sauce on the chicken. It's too much in my opinion. They were pretty quick to get this out to me, so I didn't have to worry about waiting long before my flight.

Izumi right across the street has a very similar concept with conveyor belt sushi and comparable food, but it's noticeably much less expensive. The restaurant can be a little hidden, but it's pretty easy to find with the instructions they send before your reservation. It's located above Fermentation Lab. Just head up the stairs and you'll find it inside the old Ichi Pub space. The restaurant is small and intimate, with only 9 seats at the counter. When you arrive, walk through the Yuji curtain and check in directly with the chef since there is no host. My biggest concern with set menus is always whether I'll feel satisfied and full afterward, but that was definitely not an issue here. My husband and I were both very satisfied after the meal. Every dish was delicious, and you could really taste the quality of each ingredient. Highlights for me were the bluefin sashimi, which was so buttery and soft that it literally melted in your mouth. The skillfish was rich and decadent, and the citrus and ginger balanced the flavors. The fried fish was another favorite as it reminded me of the savory Japanese rice crackers I loved growing up. Since it's located in Japantown, parking can be challenging. We had to loop around several times looking for street parking and even had two cars take spots we were waiting for, so definitely give yourself extra time before your reservation. I would highly recommend this place! The chef changes the menu periodically based on what's in season, so it's a great excuse to come back and try something new in the future. There's several courses to keep you satisfied throughout the night, and they update their menu each season. Every was good but nothing really wow'd me as the flavors were balanced, but sort of one-note.

The staff did not seem very concerned. Bad start. You could also hear the mall cleaning crew during dinner, which was not very pleasant. I ordered the 24-item Mizuho Menu, as did all the other guests. There were 5 guests in total (the restaurant can seat up to 8 people). Here is the menu I was served at the end of May: 1. starter: ama ebi cracker with caviar, pickled lotus root with shaved bonito, crab salad 2. nigiri 4x: isaki, iwana, myabi tai, kanpachi 3. sashimi: chutoro, hotate with caviar, umi masu, sawada 4. nigiri 8x: hirame, suzuki, inada, kurodai, shima aji, kamasu, otoro, aged A5 wagyu, kinmedai 5. hot dish: miso soup with inari and shrimp head, hokkaido uni with marinated ikura, black cod, umi masu with raw yellow egg and caviar 6. dessert: matcha ice cream with strawberry Frankly, the food was excellent. The starter was not very creative, but the nigiri were great. The sashimi selection was very nice, with some fish you do not see as often in omakase menus, such as isaki, iwana, and myabi tai, a kind of tai. Sawada was delicious and is always a good inclusion. We asked for some wasabi and received a small cup of kizami wasabi, a chopped wasabi with a slightly crunchy texture, which was a nice touch. For the nigiri, all the classics of a good omakase were present: otoro, kinmedai, shima aji, uni, hotate, and wagyu. Kamasu was also included, and it is one of my favorite fish. It is also worth noting that they age both their beef and their tuna, including the otoro that was served. A few pieces were torched, maybe a few too many. Overall, the service was not memorable, although chef Ron Au was friendly and nice. The place itself felt a bit questionable, and my expectations were not very high after the beginning of the meal. But the food was truly excellent, and for that reason I think it deserves 5 stars.
