A good option as far as airport options go. It felt a little bit disingenuous to add an unlabeled surcharge on top of inflated airport prices. I appreciate how compostable containers were used; if a bit of the high price point goes to cleaner products, then I feel a little bit better dropping $24 on a yummy but normally sized entrée. Grabbed some to-go food from this place and it was... okay. I ordered the tofu spring rolls, which they actually were out of, and they let me grab some shrimp ones. These were actually pretty fresh tasting, but had kind of a weird sauce. Not the typical peanut sauce you'd get at a Vietnamese restaurant. Slightly stuck together but I could separate them without the rice paper tearing. Very large with lots of noodles, so surprisingly filling for $8. I also had some kind of a seasonal/special spicy chicken salad. This was less successful. Absolutely drenched in the dressing, making it a very gloppy "salad", and all I tasted was the slightly spicy and slightly peanut-y dressing. It's funny, they actually have an extra-cost option to get more dressing. DO NOT DO THIS! I can only imagine you'd get something more akin to soup. For $20 this was sized alright but I'd be disappointed getting this at a restaurant. Inside is small, clean enough. People are nice enough. Food comes pretty quick. Ordering via a kiosk is nice. If you order through the kiosk, they won't have the wings so I placed my order through the cashier: $11.99 for 6 mango habanero - not very spicy, average taste $18.99 chicken curry box + $1.29 added caramel egg + $6.99 added side of pork - the double protein was so small that I almost thought they forgot to add the pork! $8.25 Parfait -- not pictured, total ripoff for the price, tasted overly sweet Although the curry box was good, for $27, the price was way too steep for a portion that small. They're counting on the rice to fill you up. Like I said, we were trapped at Gate G so Asian Box was the best option but if you want to walk out further towards some of the other gates, you might find something better. My friends and I spotted this restaurant close to our terminal and decided to stop by because their menu caught our eyes. There were two ways to order, either with the two kiosk hidden on the left side of the entrance or up at the front counter. My friends ended up ordering up front while I used the kiosk because I wanted to look through all the pictures and read the ingredients. I ended up ordering the Vietnamese hot chicken while my friends got the chicken and veggie green curry and brunch box. We all placed our order around the same time but it took twice as long for me to receive my food. The restaurant itself also has very limited seating but, there is an open dining area outside the restaurant. Overall thoughts: Vietnamese hot chicken: The chicken was nice and tender and the spice was surprisingly flavorful and not just spicy. Service was friendly, fast and efficient, even when I had to add something I forgot to say--"no problem, I'll take care of it". And she did with a smile. The healthy drinks are expensive even by airport standards. The meal was so tasty and very nice portions for travelers--many of whom are midway through very long commutes. While waiting for my international flight, I came to get some breakfast at Asian Box. I love that they serve breakfast like breakfast banh Mi's in addition to all their rice boxes. I ordered a matcha latte and a breakfast wrap. I was told it would be an additional 10 mins wait because they need to heat up the rice wrap, rice, chicken and cook the eggs. Those who ordered the rice boxes after me got their meals and were long gone (the rice boxes, all the meats and veggies were all pre-made). The rice wrap was thin and inside contained grilled chicken, rice and scrambled eggs. It was delicious and kept me full for hours. It comes with fish sauce and the smallest container of fruits I had I ever seen (1 small slice cantaloupe, 4 blueberries and 3 grapes). Ever since I read about Asian Box, I've been wanting to try it. As a celiac, I maintain a strict GF diet. I happened to be at SFO yesterday and stopped by their location near gate G7. The restaurant is insanely small, since rents are insanely high. The space has 4 tables on the left and an ordering counter on the right. Similar to some other other quick-service restaurants, you give your order to an order taker/cashier and "assembly line" workers build your meal. There were three workers and an order taker/cashier when I was there at 7PM. They have a QR code which you can scan to order, but it said 15-20 minutes, so I didn't go that route since I was third in line. I should have used it because it took me 20 minutes to get to the order taker. The fellow who was at the cashier when I got into line was asking questions about every item on the menu, while the assembly line workers stood around waiting. For gosh sakes, turn him over to someone else and serve people who know what they want to order. O-M-G!! The teen girl in front of me only took a minute to place her order. I ordered a banh mi sandwich - see photo - and was told I had to wait 15 minutes because there were 7 of them in front of me and their oven was too small. Sure enough, they have a tiny toaster oven which only can heat 4 rolls at a time. Ugh. I never have had a banh mi sandwich in my life since I was diagnosed celiac before they became popular. I have nothing to compare this one too, but it was totally amazing. I believe they make their rolls in house, which is too bad because it is the best sandwich roll I have ever had since I became celiac. It had a crunchy exterior with just the right amount of chewiness. The meat was a tad on the dry side, but added to the pickled veggies and cilantro, it all worked out. Good: The food. wow! Lucky for me they have several other shops close to me. Bad: The process and the small oven. If someone is playing 20 questions, let them talk to someone else while you take the next person's order. Perhaps make the barcode the default order method -- other restaurants have done that. And please get them a bigger oven to heat the rolls. Oh, and sell the rolls mail order or in the shops. We got brown rice, double chicken, hubs loved the sprouts and jalapeño toppings and the fried shallots make the dish super fragrant overall. I didn't love the carrots and potatoes, which had the typical parboiled frozen veggie taste, and wish they could have cooked them in the curry, but this was probably the best way to quickly assemble different items off the menu.
