(Note: This review is for the restaurant) The place has good food and nets itself 5 stars easy for the hands down best value I've ever come across state-side. We went in unsure of what to expect and left blown away by the friendliness, the ambiance, the overall decent food, and again the stunning value. We showed up early (5:45 ish) somewhat expecting to camp out at the bar (which they don't have) prior to our 6:30 reservation. They let us sit at our table instead, we were nervous because no one was around but were immediately made at ease as locals packed the place as the night wore on. We did a full-pull of drinks-apps-wine-dinner-desert-cofee and took in the full experience. The drinks were great, the "girly drink" that my wife got way excellent and a nice strong G&T for me. I'd have loved if they had a wider selection or a bit higher end selection particularly of bourbon for a Manhattan but the selection is fine overall it gets the job done. The wine selection while also minimal has good options and stunning prices, I've not ever been to a restaurant with wines priced at these margins. It seemed like some of the wines were only $5 more than what you'd pay at a store. We had a shrimp app with this that was very good, well cooked, in a nice asian inspired sauce. Here we switched from Asian to Italian, I'll admit this was a little bizarre and a first for me but those were the two themes on the menu and so we went with it. Dinner we did a Seafood Risotto and a Veal saltimbocca. The Risotto was a solid performance with wonderfully fresh seafood, of note: the quality of the seafood which I usually gauge by the scallops was Whole Foods level or beyond it was really fresh. The veal was good but fell somewhat short. Specifically it was thick and while the most tender I've ever had it seemed more steamed or in a light Panko and lightly fried. I couldn't really tell but in either case it was devoid of that salted and pan fried pop of flavor that I look for, after seasoning at the table it was fine. There was much discussion if this was toned down more to local flavoring or the chefs background. Dessert was a fresh, warm, and fantastic bread pudding that rates near the top of what I've ever had. Very much in alignment with the spirit of the Inn and suits it perfectly and certainly cooked that day if not right before. Coffee drinks lovers will not be disappointed there is every option imaginable and the option my wife chose was again delicious. Here too a few additional options (i.e. ports, scotch, chocolate martinis) would be welcome for non-coffee folks like myself who will otherwise be going with water. The owner (i think?) came around a few times she was very nice, dressed in old jeans and kind of made us smile, not as formal as you might expect, but just a really honest experience that we appreciated. I forgot to note that the waitstaff was excellent as well a little young and a little nervous, but very attentive and well mannered. Then there was the bill, I think maybe $130 for all of this, i think it was actually $128 or something. I near fell out of my chair I was expecting $170+ I have to say it's rare, if ever, that i've experienced paying far less than what i felt like I got without there being some kind of mistake. There was no mistake. Do they make money? I don't know but for this kind of value I give it a very rare 5 stars; we will go back every chance we get. read more

We had dinner a few weeks ago as a party of 6 friends that all own summer homes on Lovell Lake and wanted to take advantage of the unseasonably warm winter to get together during the off season! What a gem! The atmosphere first of all is incredibly charming, and the owner Colleen came by to check on us and is just as warm and friendly as the Inn itself. The food was delicious. We all started with a different salad and everyone of them was so fresh and we loved the dressings. My horseradish maple salmon was cooked perfectly and incredibly tasty! Two of the guys ordered the prime rib and they were huge and cooked exactly as ordered. We also had the most delicious dessert martinis, as we were too full to have actual dessert. The prices are very reasonable, we are so happy we tried it again, as it had been years since we had been there and are thrilled that such a great family decided to revive the restaurant! We are going back for dinner this weekend and are looking forward to another amazing dinner! read more

This was a Christmas present from our daughter and it was incredible!. We arrive and were shown our room (Tibbetts) on the first floor. The room is extremely comfortable and the ambience makes you feel like you are home. The king size bed that was so comfortable and the sheets and pillows soft. I honestly had the best night sleep in years. The room is off the dining room but you cannot hear anything it is soundproof. The dining room is very quaint and the food was amazing. My husband had the short ribs and I had the stuffed shells. The portions are very ample and delicious. We brought our desserts back to our room for a late snack. There is a keurig in the room so it was nice to sit in the wing back chairs having dessert and enjoying tea/coffee. The owners are pleasant to talk to and cater to any need. Breakfast was fresh fruits and many options to chose from. I selected eggs /bacon /home fries and toast. Again I felt the meal was incredible. I would HIGHLY recommend this to any one looking to unplug from life for one day (or more) to come here. Bring a book or games as there are no televisions! Loved my stay and hope to return again. Went here for my mom's birthday. Glad we did, the food was fantastic. The Inn is still full of charm; just as it was when it was the Spiral Staircase! The staff were great, our waitress was amazing and helpful. Mom started with the Bruschetta ; she and dad said hers was better. I suggest melting the cheese as it helps enhance the flavors. Mom also got a salad and it had a lot of dressing on it to the point she didn't eat. Oh well, we will ask for it on the side next time. I had the stuffed chicken with goat cheese and sundries tomatoes-Yum. Hubby had the chicken Alfredo which he enjoyed. Dad got the Prime Rib -HUGE piece but he had leftovers so he was happy. Mom had the chicken parm i believe . We all enjoyed our meals immensely. With it being a birthday mom got a free dessert and had the creme brûlée which she really enjoyed. Dad and I had the Cappuccino , HEAVEN!!! Best I have had in a long time!! i'd go back for just that. :) We will definitely go back!! read more

My wife and I have lived in town for almost 13 years and have always wanted to eat here. They recently have had new owners and I can honestly say that this family is on to something. We made reservations for 6 ( which I do recommend ) and when we showed up we were immediately seated by a friendly hostess. We ordered some specialty drinks and wine. Great selection by the way. Our waiter Nick ( part of the family the operates the Inn ) was very busy but still had time to have conversation. The service was great and the appetizers and food came out at a good pace . The food was Incredible. We had Salads and the Haddock along with the Chicken Parm. Everything was served nice and hot and the portions were just enough . The Chicken Parm was one of the best I have ever had. It was tender and the sauce had great flavor. My Wife's Haddock was stuffed and was topped with Lobster. They did have a great menu with a lot to choose from. After we left, we said to each other that , this is going to be our New Go To Place ! If you are in the Lakes Region and want to enjoy a great meal , you need to visit this establishment. read more

Went for dinner last night. It was Sunday night Jazz night. The service was great! The music was great for Wakefield NH. The dinning room decor is in need of a little updating, but it was clean. My husband had the stuffed mushrooms and bacon wrapped tenderloin. The mushrooms were standard stuffed mushrooms and cooked very well. They could have used some sort of dipping sauce with them. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and the sauce was excellent. I had the firecracker shrimp and the seafood risotto. The shrimp were high quality and the taste was there however the coating on the shrimp was so hard I could not even cut it with a knife. I ended up trading with my husband and I don't even like mushrooms. The risotto was nicely cooked and not mushy with lots of seafood in it. However it was a bit dry and needed a little more liquid. For desert we had the cheese cake and the chocolate mousse pie. The cheese cake was a standard cheese cake and was well made. Being blueberry and peach season in NH it would have been nice to add a fresh topping to it. The chocolate mousse pie was amazing. So light and fluffily that it melted in your mouth. The specialty drinks were wonderful, too. Overall a good experience but there is room for improvement. read more
