The salad appetizer (pears and gorgonzola on top of arugula) and grilled pork chop entrée were both under par. The salad appeared to have been dressed with apple sauce mixed with water(!) and nothing else, and the pork chop tasted of ammonia and some other chemical. It was dry and inedible. Took one small bite, even though the smell was entirely off-putting. Tossed in the trash at home. A very expensive experience for what it was. The one star is for the welcoming and amiable wait staff. In spite of the super cold dining room in which we were seated (some of the folks in our party, including me, resorted to wearing coats and hats during the meal to get warm!), they were cheerful and attentive. The cook did come out into the dining room toward the very end of the evening and put the wall-mounted heater on, which took some of the edge off the cold. Lastly, on exiting the building, watch your step! There's a drop of about 2 feet as you approach the door to the parking lot. Anyone with mobility challenges may be unable to navigate this and/or the black ice in the parking lot. read more

We are sad to say that the food was awful, service with Jennifer was terrific & their wine pour is generous but we would have preferred well prepared, delicious food. They suffer from the curse of many NH restaurants that try to be too fancy (not necessary) & so miss the mark or they are just too overly impress with themselves & just don't deliver. They suffer from over trying & just don't deliver. We tried the fried oysters appetizer, undercooked, with their overly sweet bbq sauce - yuk. My husband had their special entree mussel frites & the fries were a soggy mess. I enjoyed their fish special & hoping it was cooked well enough so I don't have food poisoning.. I think it was ok but given our eating experience, I'm a little scared. When the staff is a delight, I hate having to write such a poor review but this was a train wreck of plated meals. read more

The private back room and patio were a good fit for our party of 25. Overall, our guests were pleased with the dishes prepared, though not overwhelmed by them. The service was poorly timed and disappointing however: We had made our reservation with Trenta 3 months in advance. We had also limited our menu ahead of time to just a few, preset options. And we actually ended up having fewer guests join us than originally planned. And still it took Trenta nearly an hour and a quarter to get the first bite of food on our table. We were eager to try Trenta's desserts, but after two hours, I had to seek out a server elsewhere in the restaurant to expedite the paying of our bill. We were ultimately late to our next engagement and were charged an additional fee by our transportation. Communication with Trenta was also quite challenging from start to finish. It would often take more than a week to get a response to my call or email. One of the most disappointing meals I've had in a long time. The service was incredibly slow. It probably took 20 minutes alone to get our water. We really enjoyed the appetizers--beef carpaccio and lamb meatballs--but that was it. Every single member of our party was disappointed with their entrees. Personally, I had the clam linguine which was not actually linguine... it was fettuccini. There was hardly any sauce; it basically tasted like water. Actually, the whole dish is a misnomer because there was such a small portion of clam included. We had to ask the waiter for more cheese just to give it even a pinch of flavor. The ambiance was not the worst part of the meal, but that is unfortunately not saying much. On a positive note, they did take a surf and turf dish off our bill because we alerted the staff that the lobster did not taste fresh, in our opinion. The appetizer, carpaccio was very good. Beyond that we were very disappointed. I, and four others in our group, had the "linguine" and clams. We were served what looked to be fettuccine and clams. The flavor wasn't bad, is pretty much wasn't there at all. Truly the most flavorless pasta dish I can recall. It was not inexpensive. My wife had surf and turf, a strip stake with "knuckle"meat lobster. She complained the lobster tasted and smelled fishy, not fresh. The server insisted it was, but did take it off the bill which is why I gave a "second" star. Can't imagine ever trying it again, unfortunately. Tried Trenta again after being disappointed a couple of years ago under a different owner. My first impression through the door was positive though it was not busy for a Saturday evening. I guess that was our first clue about what was to come. My wife and I were greeted promptly and shown to our seats politely. A server then promptly took our drink order but fifteen minutes later I still didn't have drink in hand. My old-fashioned finally arrived and it was not a craft cocktail by any stretch with a glass full of small cubes, not stirred in a mixing pitcher, I suspect, and including two large orange slices rather than just the rind as is more proper. The rest of our party joined us soon thereafter and got their beer and wine more quickly. Dinner orders were then taken and I ordered steak frites. My wife ordered a chicken dish which she enjoyed. My medium steak frites, unfortunately, arrived stone cold with no outer char or seasoning and appearing more rare to raw than I could eat. It was also sliced like London broil ... odd. I called the server over to complain and she immediately got the manager who agreed the steak was not right and promised to fix it promptly. The fix, sadly, was the return of the same steak after sticking it in the oven for 10 minutes on the same plate and with I think the same fries now soggier. The steak was now overcooked, dry and absolutely tasteless and unappetizing. The server noted my displeasure and offered a complimentary cocktail. I did not complain further so not to make our table mates uncomfortable. At least the bartender was consistent with the second cocktail though it came very quickly this time. I doubt we'll go back to Trenta to pay fine dining prices for fancy sounding menu items that are not executed properly. I have no idea how any competent chef can screw up flat iron steak and french fries so completely as he did mine. read more

We visited Trenta Restaurant in Wolfeboro on a Saturday in late October. Our experience is as follows...... The good -- Our waitress, Leah, knows whats she's doing and provided excellent service. Attentive but not intrusive. Friendly but not over-bearing. Our cocktails were also very good. No complaints there at all! My wife and I shared a salad that doesn't appear on the menu any longer, but it was also excellent. If memory serves, it had baby spinach, cranberries, perhaps feta cheese and fried sweet potato fries.......very very good... We asked for some bread with our drinks and were served these huge, thick chunks of very dry and stale bread. More like hockey pucks than anything else. A big F for the bread. My wife had the Steak Frites with the Belgian Fries and Herb Aioli which she thoroughly enjoyed. I took a bite or two and found both the fries and steak to be excellent. I had the Halibut Oscar which I thought was $40 and now shows $48 on the on-line menu which I cannot in good conscience recommend AT ALL unless they've changed the recipe as mine was completely tasteless and a total waste of the money spent. I give this dish as presented on our visit an F, especially for the price. But, perhaps they've modified the recipe. Presentation of both dishes was excellent as was the dessert which I can't remember the name of but it was a cake with a chocolate mousse filling......really REALLY good and one of the best desserts that we've had lately. So, kind of a mixed bag here...hit and miss........Not inexpensive.We both had two drinks, a shared salad, two entrees and dessert and the bill with tax and tip was $220 or so. Have to do a lot better and be more consistent for those kinds of numbers. Nice atmosphere here.....nothing spectacular with a lot of character but very pleasant. Kudos to Leah for making it an enjoyable evening. read more

Wish I had kinder things to say ... my friends liked this place, and so did I, once, but we had a not so great experience Saturday night. I ordered a draft beer (had "lime" and "salt" in the name) and it came to the table flat, not carbonated. It tasted fine, but still ... service was v slow tho waitstaff frankly lovely and attentive. I ordered the duck's legs, which might have a bad call on my part. Duck is hard to cook (that's why I ordered it) and this was pretty stringy. My wife loved her scallops entree, btw. We ordered the crème brûlée for dessert, and it came with 5-6 prunes kind of plopped on top. I made a comment, and the maitre d said, "that's weird - it's sposed to have berries on top." Obv the kitchen ran out of berries and just dumped w/ever fruit they had on top of a slender portion of c. b. The waitstaff said what tasted like stewed prunes were actually figs - OK, maybe, but they totally overpowered the dessert & weren't mention in the description. I didn't check the bill, but no one said the dessert had been taken off, which would have been the right move, imo. read more

Consistently one of the best fine dining spots around the Lakes Region (which, to be clear, is kind of slim pickings). We always enjoy the setting when we go with friends ... not a huge spot, but we can usually find a table if we plan ahead. Very cool environment, even though it is kind of out of the way compared to the rest of Wolfeboro. The service used to be a little more iffy, but in recent visits we've had a great experience. Service is always wonderful. The menu is creative and the daily specials are very inventive. This is fine dining but in a very unpretentious setting. I had the privilege of dining at Trenta this Sunday, on Mothers Day. This was my first experience dining at this lovely restaurant. The moment I entered, I was immediately impressed with the ambiance and aesthetically pleasing charm this restaurant has to offer. Trenta has a gorgeous bar, separate from the dining room, rustic decor, beautiful tablecloths, napkins and small details like fresh flowers and lit candles on each table. We had a reservation for Mother's day and we were promptly greeted by Jill, who was so warm and welcoming. Our server, Felicia was wonderful! She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She answered our questions thoughtfully and presented the specials upon arrival. We ordered two signature cocktails: a gin fizz and watermelon cucumber spritzer that were made by the fabulous bartender, Sara. They were absolutely delicious and garnished beautifully with tiny flowers, perfect for a warm spring day. We decided to start our meal with the Thai Mint Shrimp, (which were huge) and so tasty! The mint, coconut and chili peanut dressing was sublime! For entrees, we ordered the slow roasted rib with horseradish whipped potato and borsin asparagus, the smoked salmon gnocchi and homemade mushroom fettuccine. We shared our entrees to savor all the amazing flavors. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and served with a mouthwatering au jus. Rob and Bill exceeded my expectations both in creativity and presentation. It was truly a perfect meal. Our dessert was a chocolate raspberry torte- the portion was extremely generous and the presentation was even better! Served with a delicious compote, each bite was memorable. The fudge-like texture was rich and satisfying. Thank you, Trenta for providing a superior fine dining experience that we did not take for granted. I really wanted to like this place. Reservations were easy and like other good restaurants they called to confirm earlier in the day. We were seated right away which was great. First they gave us a table with a weird seating arrangement. We asked to be moved. Not a problem. We were seated not far from the kitchen entrance and we noticed that the servers coming in and out looked so stressed. Rushing to get meals to their customers. The restaurant was busy and it was quite noisy. And our server was busy. She took drink orders and then after waiting a bit came for our dinner order. Our friends ordered drinks and we ordered an appetizer. Salad Lyonnaise. The frisee lettuce looked wilted and the dressing was quite tart. We could have used some bread but it took quite awhile to get it after asking twice. And if was after our main meal was served. Our friends with the drinks waited for an hour and a quarter for their main dish. Us as well but at least we had an appetizer. I ordered the halibut. While she was serving I tasted the halibut. It was cold! I immediate let our server know and she said she would take it back and as them to heat it up. NO!! Don't heat the fish up. It would be over cooked. She went into the kitchen to ask the chef and she came out with a fresh halibut albeit warmer. But sitting in a pool of liquid perhaps from the vegetables. My husband's Char Su Duck was similar. Lukewarm at best. The other two entrees seemed to have been acceptable. The server eventually came by to ask if we wanted dessert and coffee or just the check. We just wanted the check. And it was expensive. $240.00 for 4 with only 2 drinks for 2 people. No appetizers for them and my husband and I split the salad. And no coffee nor dessert. If the food was considerable better we wouldn't mind spending that much. But it was a huge disappointment. Too bad! read more

Oh Trenta where do I begin. We came here with a group of 5 with 7:15 reservations and didn't end up leaving until 9:30. An hour and a half wait in between appetizer and overpriced entrees. We had incorrect drinks come out multiple times and a server that looked like she was a deer in headlights. If you are coming to visit Wolfboro I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. We wanted to try something new so took the 45 minute drive around the lake to get here. The menu had interesting options and I felt was plenty for a "farm to table" restaurant. Sometimes I have trouble finding something I would like as those can have limited menus; not so here. We started with cocktails (G&T and Rust Pond martini) that were really nice. We got the fried vegetables with dipping sauces- super yummy and not too heavy. For entrees we got the halibut and the pappardelle bolognese. Both were delicious. The bolognese sauce was authentic and very tasty, for dessert we got the cheesecake of the day which was blueberry- so good! The crust was blueberry muffin! This is our new favorite restaurant in the Lakes Region! Food was freshly made and delicious! We had cod, steak and lamb shank and they were all cooked perfectly, sauces were amazing! Food was made to order and they were able to easily accommodate my husband's requirement for no salt in his food. Service was friendly, chef offered us a yummy free treat at the beginning of the meal and came out to ask us how we liked our meal. We have tried Trenta in two occasions and it was not great both times. The one saving grace was our waiter, who was friendly and very professional. The menu is extremely limited for us vegetarians/pescatarians. It took an act of god to get them to make a pasta dish without the protein. They menu looks ambitious but doesn't deliver on quality. The food was not even especially hot when it was delivered. The building is nice and cozy but the food was not enticing enough to return. read more

Was really hoping for something great, as I had heard mixed reviews. With that being said, I ordered the steak frites, which were both undercooked and room temperature. The service was terrible- I was never checked in with during the meal to send my meal back. When the waitress asked at the end how it was- I shared my complaints, but was never given a reduction in the bill or the opportunity to speak with the manager.
