I've only been to this location once, and don't care to go back. I had pneumonia and needed a prescription late on a Sunday night when most other places were closed. The only reason this Walgreens got 2 stars (instead of 1) is for the convenience of getting a prescription any time of the day or night, any day of the week. After having a few hours to fill my prescription, it still wasn't ready when I arrived. They made me wait 20 minutes while they were putting it together, so I decided to pick up some other things a sick person could use. In one of the food isles, I spotted some chicken noodle soup. It looked a little dusty and old, but I reached for a can anyway. It was sticky on the sides, and basically cemented to the shelf by whatever had leaked all over it. No thanks. I tried to find other things to buy to kill the time while I was waiting, but the skeeve factor was high all over. Eventually I just returned my empty shopping basket to the stack from which it came. I did my best to try to give this place some of my money, but they basically refused the sales with the way they kept the store maintained. Yuck. read more

This Walgreens pharmacy is consistently the worst I have ever experienced. Long lines that seem to never have enough staff to operate normally, prescriptions are never ready on time, cashier's don't know how to work systers..not sure if it is lack of training or just not caring! Wow there are a lot of horrific reviews for this place. I have to say that I didn't come here to visit the pharmacy so maybe that's why I didn't think this place was so bad. I was on my way to the airport and needed to buy a bag to put all of the food I bought here, and I found a cooler bag on clearance. Score! This is just like any other walgreens, however I must agree with all of the other reviews when it comes to customer service. I usually don't leave poor reviews for one bad experience but i will not be going back to this location for my last experience. my sister and i went in the day before valentine's day in a pinch to get all of the stuff we needed for our little gifts. i needed to print a picture and didn't know how so i asked the older lady in the front for help. at first she was really nice and then flipped a switch for some reason. after i finished printing the picture my sister and i got in line to pay for all of our stuff. we were rudely snapped at by the older lady "um your pictures are not going to be ready yet so you need to get out of line". i was taken aback so i just responded nicely and said "okay sorry that's on me". no response just an eye roll. when it was finally our turn to check out, which took probably 20 minutes because she was the only one working for some reason, we put our stuff up and she started scanning. i am 21, so i had a bottle of wine with my stuff and the lady asked for our ID's. my sister is underage and didn't have her wallet so i said it wasn't for her just me and she told me the store policy was even if she was with me she needed to be of age. i totally understand that so i just said i'd put it back and get it somewhere else. she then continued to accused me of buying alcohol for my underage sister and was completely criticizing me about something that was just an assumption. i was buying the wine for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend, but either way she should not have assumed i was going to give my underage sister alcohol. i felt very disrespected and left in a rage. my sister did too. SO walgreens, the older lady with long gray hair should be talked to about her rude assumptions of others without knowing the full truth. read more

My review is specifically for the photo department. Twice now I have sent photo projects for print and they have been unable to fulfill them because their printers break. Furthermore, they are unable to transfer my project to a different store, so I have to go back online and start all over again for a different location. Three thumbs down. read more

How this place can be so awful? Don't go there. Don't give them your money. About the bottle return: They made their own rules, change them every day and give customers attitude. They decided they only do the bottle return from Monday to Wednesday and if the sun is out.. "safety concerns" oh ok, so crimes don't ever occur on modays.. anyway. I hate this store. For all the reasons other people have mentioned. Today was the last straw. I was not even there to use the Pharmacy...only to simply buy a few basic items at my neighborhood drug store. This place never has the stuff they should. And today was about the fifth time I've wasted my time going in to find something really basic that they don't have. The last time I was told it was illegal for them to help me find an over the counter medicine on the shelf. Its simply 'against their corporate policy'. To actually help a customer....who is not even 'alternative' as another reviewer was here but merely not feeling well and in need of some drugs that they sell. And Yes they have remodeled and redesigned -the store seems to be even worse now. When I spoke to an employee about this she told me that she felt I was 'attacking her' by insisting that this store should carry things their customers want. Apparently I was just waaay out of line thinking that this store should carry things I need in my own neighborhood. She went on to explain to me that its 'corporate' and they just don't do that. When that didn't make sense to me either, she told me that it was too bad I was not able to accept her honesty. She also indicated that if this had happened to me before in this store I should have learned from that experience. When I brought up the store serving an increasingly dense neighborhood she had NO IDEA what I meant. Are we in grade school here? Because to be accused of 'attacking' someone for speaking my mind and assuming as a customer I'm entitled to being heard, respected, and treated like I matter.-makes me feel like I'm being manipulated by an 8 year old who just learned she can get attention and sympathy by saying she feels unsafe or her feelings are hurt. On my way out I asked for a manager's name -turns out she is the store manager. Portland-why can't we have the few chain stores in a dense urban neighborhood be well designed and actually servicing the people who are here? I called the SE Portland Walgreen's headquarters. The entire phone tree system is apparently connected to one woman's voice mail. OK - now things are coming into focus. I did leave my basket with all my other purchases there on the floor telling the manager that I would be buying them off Amazon.com. The pharmacy employees are not helpful in the least bit with any information pertaining to your prescription, or filling meds in a timely matter. The pharmacy techs seem very dense and unaware of the job they were hired to do. Unfortunately due to the convenient location I again and again torture myself by going here to pick up already called in prescriptions. I've probably used this pharmacy 100 times and 98/100 had to wait a ridiculous amount of time in line only to have them every fucking time tell me they can't find my order, or it's not in stock, or we don't have your insurance on file. Really?!! I leave there every time with my head ready to explode and wanting to stab someone in the face. Not to mention the prices for my meds change every time I go in too. Came in at 845 pm to pharmacy. A sole employee was there on the phone (not visible to anyone) taking forever with the conversation. Meanwhile the line grows while she yells back at everyone to wait... I informed an employee at the front of the store...he shrugged his shoulders...indicating that he really didn't give a shit. The pharmacy here is not the kinda place you can trust with your medical needs. I personally think it's kinda important to have medication when it is expected. Dropped off a paper scrip and was told to come back an hour and a half later. Came back to find it wasn't even entered into the system, and would take another hour and a half. The absolute worst drive through service time. No one comes to window. Cars sit in queue- we we 15 minutes sandwiches between first car and third so no escaping. It's supposed to be for convenience but Walgreens could not care less and they let you know it. read more

Now I know why this pharmacy got bad reviews. My doctor called in a prescription the night before. The pharmacy opened at 9 am. I came in at 11:30 am. They had not even checked their voicemail. I had a 1 year old and a 3 year old in the car, about to go for an hour long road trip. I asked for priority and they said 15 min. 30 min later, and I'm still waiting. Had I known, I would have gone to a different pharmacy. Just tell me the truth about an ETA. And fill your prescriptions on time. read more

There is usually a huge line for the pharmacy. There is no mechanism for simply dropping off a prescription, you have to wait in the line! By far the most poorly managed pharmacy from a customer service standpoint I've seen. Stay away. read more

The doors open automatically when they detect motion. There is popular music playing through speakers in the ceiling. There is an employee break room off to one side. The outdoor signs have text marquees. There is a parking lot where driving customers may park cars. read more

I really only go to walgreens to develop pictures. I use their mobile app to select and send my pictures and then I just walk right in, pick up my pictures, pay and leave. It's that simple. There prices are pretty good and they often have good deals, too. read more

Went to Walgreens for a vaccine for shingles which they were advertising on their sign outside. At the counter they checked and said they had the vaccine and I then paid for it on my credit card and they asked me to wait for a few minutes before they gave me the vaccine. After almost 1/2 hour they called me up to tell me that they would not give me the vaccine I had paid for because I was not old enough (I'm 47, which I think is plenty old). Pharmacist asked for my receipt which she wrote "void" on and said I should not be charged on my statement. I asked for a credit reciept or some other paperwork that I would not be charged and she would not give me any. Waste of time, go to Fred Meyers instead. read more

If you are looking for an over the counter drug, you might look elsewhere. Most of the shelves have empty spaces where products are supposed to be. The store if filled with over priced food, cosmetics, stationary etc but lack of their initial purpose for being in business. read more

I like this location better than the one on Holgate, just because the parking lot is bigger and the streets around it are bigger. But Walgreens are Walgreens, and they don't differ much from each other. This one does seem a little larger than the Holgate location though. read more

This is the closest Walgreens to my place. Pretty convenient location, at 39th and Belmont, also right near the library and Fred Meyers, for those days where I need to go to all three places. They FINALLY finished remodeling, so no more dust covered merchandise. Other than that, it's your typical Walgreens, so no complaints here. read more

This place deserves 1 star, but since it's so convenient, I know that I'll be back at some point in time even though every time I go in there I swear I'll never be back again. Yet I come back every time I am in need. It's so damn convenient. Every single freaking time I go in there, it's always something. The night guard that someone else used, ick! Double ick! Triple ick! The lady gave me a hard time before returning it, and I just talked to the manager. I even told the cashier that she could take an impression of my teeth and they are not the ones in the night guard that I bought. Calling in a prescription, they always tell me that it'll be ready in one hour. Guess what, several hours later, I go in an it's not ready because they are out, but they'll give me something else if I wait a half hour. Seriously it happens all the time. Today I needed some laundry detergent. I waited in line for 15 minutes. I got to the register and directly handed the cashier my Walgreens card and coupon and had my credit card in hand. There was something wrong with the coupon, whatever, I just want to get out of your store. Then she proceeded to grill me on what else I was purchasing. I said nothing, just the detergent. Then she proceeded to stand puzzled for a minute (with 4 other people in line behind me, one just said this is taking too long, put her water back and proceeded to leave) as to what she had rung up incorrectly on my order. Then she finally started over. Geez, I just need to do my laundry for the love of G*d. Is it really that hard to ring up 1 item? I guess Walgreens doesn't value my time or their customer's time; so I'll be headed down to Fred Meyers a couple blocks away for my future drug store needs (some stuff is cheaper there) or QFC (also 24 hours except for the pharmacy) until I go there again and remember why it is that I don't shop at Walgreens. read more

This is the most slow, incompetent and incapable group of pharmacists. I was in there around 3:00 to drop off a prescription there were two people ahead of me and they seem to be having issues so I waited about 20 min to drop off. The pharmacist said my prescription will be ready at 4:45 so I went home and had my bf pick it up because I certainly wasn't going to wait around for an hour and 45 min. When my bf showed up at 6:30, sure enough there was a long line and they said there were no records of it. When I went to drop it off my prescription the same thing happened to the man ahead of me. What are they doing back there where they are losing prescriptions ? I'm sure this happens often. It is like a zoo back there and they are all very unorganized. My bf was waiting there for another hour when it was supposed to be ready at 4:45. This is my first and very last time I'm filling a prescription with them. I've never encountered something this disorganized at a pharmacy. Get it the fuck together. read more

I wouldn't go here at night. But I can tell you they have the nicest most knowledgeable pharmacists I have met in a long time. I didn't get chastised for not taking my meds like I should. Instead she had a lot of good ideas about how to keep on track and she sent me off with a smile and a kind word...just what people who don't feel good need. The construction is over and it boosted the morale of everyone. State of the art pharmacy complete with 24 hr drive through and pre-order speed check out for medication. We also recently had some graduation photos developed and the clerk was quite helpful and could see we were stressed out. It all turned out great. Oh and I am saving all my points...for a car or a refrigerator or something big. read more

On vacation in Oregon we were on our way home and stopped to grab a few things ... I have a toddler that I needed to be change but due to them having some Christmas lights things near by they refused the bathroom to me and I then had no where to change my toddler. All the employees there were rude ! One even said I don't care about you I work 12 hours... was very upsetting for an out of state Mom. I know it's Walgreens so I should expect much as far as customer service but you would think when you have a baby to change and they have a restroom they wouldn't be so rude. read more

I was in a rush to print a picture for a memorial service. I went to the competition first. They were rude and completely unhelpful. SO glad I came to Walgreens. Not sure why I never shop here but I now consider myself converted! Dan took such great care of me at the photo booth and even helped me get the picture in a frame when my hands were too shaky. Ok for a late night junk food or cold medicine run. Terrible if you need to get something from the pharmacy. It consistently takes me 15-20 minutes to pick up a very simple prescription that has already been filled. They always seem to be understaffed and overwhelmed. This review is just for the pharmacy. I thought it couldn't get any worse than the Fred Meyer Hawthorne pharmacy, but this is out of control. The waiting times for prescriptions are always drastically inaccurate. They always say the wait time will be 'about 20 minutes" -- but the wait time is never less than 50 minutes. I have been the only person with a prescription in progress listed on their visible 'prescription wait list' and/or the only person in the waiting area, and it still takes forever. After the 30 minute mark, I usually wait in the (now long) pharmacy line only to receive the news that it's going to be another 20 minute wait -- "at least." I could have left/ran errands and come back; instead I waited around and wasted time based on false information. This has happened on 4 occasions! If it's going to take an hour to fill a prescription, I get it. But that needs to be stated up front. (Under-promise, over-deliver!) I have a relatively high tolerance for bad customer service, but not for businesses who rank their customers' time low (or, in Walgreens' case, non-existent) on the priority scale. read more
