Great diner breakfast in downtown Highland Park. Bacon, Turkey sausage, Dutch baby and hashbrowns.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Grew up in north shore, one of those breakfasts spot you start coming as kid with your grandparents then parents.. friends then your kids. True family breakfasts spots where you grow together.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Personally feels like I know the menu back and forth.

5 stars . Just good breakfast overall. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Has a granny feel inside. Oakwood and Tiffany stain glass everywhere with high ceilings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hashbrowns are delicious here they add onions to the mix. Digged it a lot. Great spot for simple breakfast. Portions are not overly big just right. Service was good too.

Food at Walker Bros is always fairly good. They are on the higher end price wise for breakfast/brunch. The breakfast healthy medley that I got is really good. I really enjoyed the oats on top of the pancakes. It was a delightful texture combination in my opinion. The service was great and attentive to our table. My only complaint which is not food related would be that it was fairly tight in the front when waiting. Because it is a Sunday morning I understand that they will be packed but it was very difficult to wait in line since there is not a lot of space. The front waiting area is narrow. But I really enjoy coming here for breakfast even when it can get really crowded in the morning.

Yum yum YUM! Stopped in on a Thursday afternoon after the lunch rush & it was still pretty busy (which just goes to show, it's a great place for food). [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm in a wheelchair and they have lots of tables to accommodate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered my usual, the Venetian Benedict. It was perfect as usual. Perfectly poached egg. Bacon nice and crisp, perfect amount of silky hollandaise. I also ordered hash browns well done & their pancakes. Honestly, no one does pancakes better! I just love them with their butter and that's it! It doesn't need anything else. It is a little pricey but you do get a lot of food.

Went to Walker Bros for breakfast with the family after a long time and it's still so good. The HP location is my favorite to go to. The staff is friendly, the wait is always reasonable, and the food is always great. For a party of 3 they sat us within 5 minutes and they even gave my son some crayons and a maze to color on. For food we split a few things. The Blueberry pancakes were so fluffy and delicious, I recommend to throw a bit of their blueberry compote on there as well. The spicy has browns with habanero cheese and pico de gallo is one of my favorite things to get here and it's always so flavorful and does a good job balancing out the sweetness of pancakes. We also had sausage links and bacon. Both were really good. The links are solid, but their bacon is my favorite, it's the right thickness and perfect blend of meaty and crispy. We also had some of their fresh squeezed OJ which is a must every time.

My favorite breakfast place -- I always have a good meal here! I don't know what magic they put in the scrambled eggs, but they are so creamy and fluffy! The hash browns are crispy and flaky on the outside with hot and tender inside. You want both of these -- then get The Continental and you also get a stack of fluffy buttermilk pancakes and drink of your choice. Now that I'll devoured that, it's time for a nap!

Walker Bros was highly recommended to me and they did not disappoint. The service was quick and attentive. The food was amazing. Portion sizes were huge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is that of a dive and had a lot of character.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I enjoyed my meal and appreciated the recommendations to other businesses in the area.

You've gotta try the 49 flapjacks. Like a crepe but a bit thicker. Gooey, soft, and just perfect!!! Service is always top notch.

For a pancake house, the pancakes were mid. Service was good, but I can't say I recommend eating here.

Therefore it is my assumption that any previous trashy reviews, should be given the reader attention they should - that being, less than none. Less than favorable reviews more than likely came from bitchy benefactors guests, not the benefactor(s) themselves, who more than likely picked up the tab for dinner, that made it possible for their ignorant barbarian 'guests' who amazingly learned to spell and dine with a fork and knife without dragging their knuckles, to write this garbage. You would think that an hour and half of dining time would have been enough for three courses. Nope, concert started before we were finished. We had the same waiter as the last visit and though friendly enough we had to ask him to take our order then don't know if it was his fault or the kitchen's but the time it took for the food to come was just too long. I started with the mushroom soup which was good. Nice and hot. Hubby had the strawberry arugula salad. He gave me a taste and it was also very good. My chicken though was tough, rubbery and completely overcooked. I thought it practically inedible. Hubby ate it for me. I didn't taste them but those that had the halibut and the Cobb salad were satisfied with there choices. I must say, the salad looked really good and I would suggest ordering that. For dessert hubby and I split the dutch apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. It was okay but not exceptional. We were also late at that point so we were just rushing to get going and get to our seats. They had some computer problems so they had to take our credit card numbers to be run later. Promise of an email confirmation never arrived. Given the lack of service and unremarkable food they are overpriced.

I have been excited about the addition of Bean Bar to our neighborhood in downtown Northbrook for a…read morewhile.  We finally had a chance to visit together before we went to the Art in the Park the Saturday of the Mother's Day weekend!  It totally justified all the hype! Given it was a Saturday, there was an annual art fair in the Village Green close by, and the Mother's Day weekend, we expected it to be very busy, and it was justifiable so.  There was a rather long line placing orders at the cashier, but it moved quickly.  There were many laminated menus for us to read while waiting in line.  The cashier was friendly, patient, and helpful in answering questions.  Our daughter ordered an Avocado Toast and a Berry Zen Refresher.  My husband and I found that a good idea, and each of us also ordered an Avocado Toast, although I had hoped that I got different types of dishes to photograph, lol.  Husband had a Cappuccino, and I had a large Iced Pistachio Latte (oat milk).  This simple brunch came up to $77.34 with tip, and it's worth it. All 3 Avocado Toasts were perfectly made.  All the ingredients were very fresh, although there wasn't a lot of seasoning, the taste of each ingredient worked well together to achieve a delicious dish.  I especially liked the over easy egg and the crispy edges of the warm toast.  My Iced Pistachio Latte was very good without being too sweet. Although the food and drinks were the star, the ambiance was so pleasing and relaxed that totally elevated the entire experience.  The dining room with high ceiling and chandeliers was spacious and beautiful.  There were many different types of seating for patrons -- big comfy couches, regular tables, high-tops, small booths, conference rooms with long table and chairs, small private rooms... not to mention about the large sheltered patio with many tables and seats!  As I have mentioned, we went at a busy time, there were not a lot of tables left for dining purposes, we opted for a high-top.  Even though the venue was almost filled to capacity, it still felt very airy and comfortable.  I could just chill there happily for half a day with my latte! However, there were small hiccups that fortunately did not ruin our first experience there.  My husband's and daughter's drink came out almost instantly after we sat down, but I had to chase down a staff (there's no servers except for the staff who delivered the dishes or cleaned tables) to tell him that my drink was missing.  I told him that it's supposed to be cold but with no ice.  He immediately got me a Pistachio Latte but with ice.  The cashier lady had specified no ice on when she placed the order for me, I talked to her about this and she offered to make me a new one, but I had already had a sip and didn't want to put the drink to waste, so I just kept it.  I later scooped out all the ice so that it did not dilute my drink, and it was good.  I must mention that the food came out in just 5 minutes even though the place was busy. Our high-top table wobbled when we used our knives and forks to cut the toasts, not a very big deal, but the restaurant could easily have that fixed as I am pointing it out now, It's one of the high-tops under the BB sign. This brunch kicked off a very happy Mother's Day weekend.  I was in a very good mood going to the art fair from Bean Bar.  We will definitely return to try the many other items on their menu.

Knotty pine on the walls and fish mounts every direction that you look. I started with an Old Fashion that checked the box, and the famed Shrimp Cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was five large shrimp that were firm in texture and clearly fresh. The cocktail sauce tasted like it was from a bottle, it wasn't terrible, but certainly not made in house. The burger was straightforward and the beef was high quality but it desperately needs seasoning (salt and pepper for goodness sake). I ordered my burger with Swiss cheese, that probably wasn't the right choice, American would've been better. The grilled onions were cooked well, but again just a sprinkle of salt would elevate the burger. The bacon was crispy, which was welcomed because the rest of the burger experience was just - meh. My tab was $48 and some change, which isn't terrible in today's economy, however, I've had $48 meals elsewhere that were head and shoulders above. It was clear that this is a long standing tradition in the area, but the food taste is stuck in the past.
