Food was great - huge portions and delicious! I give a 2 star rating because my partner found human hair stuck in a tomato. When we notified the server, she said "I wonder how it got in there". She picked up the half eaten plate from the table and that was the last we saw or heard anything from her until it was time to bring us the bill! Sooo... this was a cool find! There were even ppl in our group who were from the area and have never been here. This place is a gem for sure the inside is inviting the staff was friendly and all of our food was great. We had a table of 8 and every single person cant wait to come back! Walker Roadhouse is our go-to restaurant on the NW side. It is super close to our house so it makes for an easy trip. The food is always great! I love how often the change up their menu. On my most recent visit I had the Turkey Burger with apples & brie cheese on it. It was really good! Also, I traded the chips (which are amazing) to the brussel sprouts- they were great! The service is always amazing, the staff is super friendly. The food is great quality & changes quite regularly. I like how "different" their menu options are compared to a chain restaurant. The staple Great Lakes Chowder is the best I've had in GR! Also, the food arrives quickly- always a bonus. I would highly recommend Walker Roadhouse to anyone! Great for lunch and dinner. read more

I've been going to WRH infrequently for years with my wife. I and my staff have taken numerous clients there and enjoyed the experiences and have found service to be very good. Unfortunately, this evening I ordered a sirloin medium rare and it was full of gristle and difficult to cut due to a stringy texture. I attempted to eat 4 different pieces and had to take them out because it wasn't possible to chew. My wife sampled and experienced the same issue. So I just left it on the plate. When the waitress came she noticed I hadn't eaten it and remarked that the steak looked raw. I said it was just very tough. She offered to take it back to try to make it "right". She returned and said they could cook another that i could take home. I said we didn't have time. She returned with the bill charging full price. Will not go back and will not allow further company money spent here. Handling a customer problem is the true test of management and ownership. Server did an excellent job. read more

This was my second time here and first time for my wife. Not sure how it has an average of 4 stars. The beef brisket was like eating a pot roast with some watered down barbecue sauce on top which we split. The sides of Brussel sprouts was okay as were the sweet potato fries. My aunt had the perch dinner-huge huge portion-seven pieces of fried perch, Cole slaw and a very generous portion of fries. She ended up taking some home, so if you order the perch, either plan on sharing or taking it home for another meal. The warm apple cobbler served with vanilla ice cream was a nice way to end the meal. Nothing special here. We did not order alcoholic drinks so can't comment. read more

This is the best restaurant in West MI hands down a hidden gem. The bang bang shrimp appetizer was the best I've ever had. The rolls are complimentary and taste very fresh. Last night I went to Walker roadhouse with a friend for dinner. I ordered prime rib, medium rare, and it was brought to me cold. I told the waitress and I said I don't want you to microwave this to make it hot because then it will no longer be medium rare, she said OK and she brought it back to the table and it had been microwaved and it was no longer medium rare so I told her it was not acceptable. I waited and they brought me a new piece of medium rare prime rib, and my friend was completely done eating her meal, which was a French dip sandwich, and it barely had any roast beef in the sandwich. There was 2/3 bread 1/3 meat in the sandwich we talked to the waitress. She talked to her manager and while this discussion was going on, I looked at the salad that was brought to me with my meal and the lettuce in the salad was all rusty, I showed that also to the waitress and we told her how disappointed we were with the quality of our food and the long wait times she said she'd see what she could do and they did nothing for my friend and they took $7.50 off of my $45 billand no manager came to the table and both owners were present in the restaurant When we exited the restaurant. This is a restaurant that I have frequented in the past and recommended it to friends. After this experience I will not be doing that and I will be spending my money elsewhere. read more

Very disappointed in this establishment. After trying to order several items...prime rib/baked potato/Brussel sprouts ( being told they were out ) . They didn't even have silverware ready. At this point ordering a side was pretty slim picking. We asked for the manager. She came out full of attitude & very rude. Her defiant attitude caused me to cancel my order / our entire table did the same. The owner was made aware of the situation & refused to even offer an apology or try to make the situation right. It was very clear that this establishment does not care about their clientele at all. With so many restaurants struggling now, I choose to support local with great food but most of all .... We have tried, again & again to like Walker Roadhouse. Their margaritas started out as excellent, went to OK, and then NOT. I received my bistro filet medallions along with a cooked piece of plastic. The server (who was excellent) had the dish remade and sent the manager over. The manager, who was not very solicitous, did not even comp the meal. The final nail in the coffin was that my wife developed food poisoning 7 hours after we left the restaurant. Sorry to say, the chances are over for Walker Roadhouse. read more

They first started by taking my favorite things off the menu, and now I have a hard time ordering something that comes made correctly. We came back and they out did themselves again!!! Kaitlin was our server. She was great. She knew the menu well, and was the perfect amount of attentive. Our drinks never ran dry! The CFO ordered the Christmas Punch and it was great. We started with soups. She got the lobster bisque and I got the pepper steak. Both were served prompt and piping hot. I really enjoyed my soup, The CFO said it was pretty good. We also got the dinner rolls with our soup. Also warm and delicious. They were savory with a bit of Rosemary. I'm glad we didn't accept the offer for more because I would have scarfed them down too. For dinner the CFO ordered the Tenderloin Medallions.... Just like last time. She raves about them again. My guess is when we return, and we will, she'll order it again. It's just that good! I tried the bacon wrapped meatloaf. It didn't disappoint either. I'd order it again but there are other items on the menu I want to try too. It all looks and sounds great. For dessert we split crème brûlée. It was also delicious and left me wanting another. The price was right and the proportions were generous too. As for ambiance..... we love it. We could hold a conversation across our table with out shouting and easily hear each other. The tables are far enough apart that your not in their conversations too. The Craftsman decor is beautiful! We love this place and will be back again. Wonderful experience. We went on a Friday night around 7:00. The place was full with one or two open tables. It was just the two of us, and we were seat right away. My partner and I are in our 60s. The atmosphere was great. Enough energy to help us feel young without being too loud. Mostly adults were present, but a few families with younger children. I had the tuna, and my partner had the meatloaf. We also had the lobster bisque. All the food was wonderful. The service was great. Our server ( I wish I could remember his name as I write this) was great. Okay -- I had two manhattans, my partner had wine, two entrees, upgrade on soup, a dessert, and after-dinner drink. All of this for about $95. Based on the quality of the food, drink and service, we expected a bill closer to $125, so a $95 bill was great. (And then an added tip.). It was our first visit to the Roadhouse. We will definitely be back. read more

One of my favorite restaurant in town and easily the best on the nw side. Have eaten here at least 30 times and yes, they do screw up every once in a while (lost our group reservation, lost a dinner, got a order wrong, delivered the wrong beer), they have always made it right with the manager coming over personally to fix/adjust the tab. Favorites here are the perch, the prime rib, the tuna and the meat loaf but the claw slaw is weak but can be sub'ed w/o a charge. Dont understand how some of the reviewers got wronged here and didn't get fixed but if it cuts down the crowd, it works for me. My only complaint, it gets pretty loud in there at prime time. Easily a 4.5 stars place but 1/2's don't count so 5 it is read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants. We eat there at least 6 to 8 times a years. The food and service are great. However this past weekend's visit was less than fun. The management needs to quiet things down enough so that patrons can at least converse with the people at their table. The overall clientele has become increasingly loud and obnoxious. That being said, the food, staff and management is wonderful. However the level of noise will eventually take its toll on repeat visits. read more

We used to come to Walker Roadhouse frequently and recently visited it again (twice in the last two months). First visit was just okay, our waitress though clearly is not detail oriented). Tonight's visit was absolutely horrible. It was loud, but that's no one's fault. Our dinner rolls arrived... they were completely smashed into flat biscuits. Then my son's bacon cheeseburger arrived... sans bacon. Waitress brought it out. It was ice cold. Told her it was cold... she microwaved it and was back in less than a minute. Really? And only 1 pop refill was received. Husband's french dip was also microwaved. Bun was soggy, meat flavorless. He's had better french dips at Arby's. He also got their kettle chips... which were all crumbs. And the waitress whacked him in the shoulder with a large server tray and apologized only when he turned to look at her. FYI-same waitress as the one we had two months ago. Sigh. I had the pineapple chicken with rice. It was very good and redeemed the waitress from getting a minimal tip. We will not be visiting as again any time soon, if ever. read more

My family came here after hearing good things. There were 9 of us and we all loved our food. The portions were nice and large. The only thing that could have improved was the my order was forgotten about and I got my salad when everyone was already finished eating. The waiter though was very apologetic and took my meal off the bill which was very nice of him. We all will be back to eat here! read more

Terrible Customer Service. Period. Waitress and Manager refused to serve my boyfriend and I for absolutely no reason. I grew up down the street and while back in town visiting, I thought it would be funny to take him to this little po-dunk restaurant for a $17 burger and fries to show him what Walker is like.. Drunk on power managers and uppity attitudes. Understandably they must have been shocked that 2 people under 50 came into this restaurant without their grandparents but my boyfriend and I are in our mid 30s. We both have out of state ID's that are valid and in perfect condition, and neither of us have been carded in years. The manager refused to serve me for no reason and claimed his license was damaged on the edge when I'm looking at it right now and it's in perfect condition. Believe me, if I *was* 15 years younger I think I might use a fake idea somewhere a little funner than the Walker Roadhouse. Give me a break. They didn't follow any usual protocols such as assessing our height matches our ID, asking our birthdays, or asking us to confirm our addresses. They should be really careful with practices like this, my boyfriend is latino from Miami and it smells like discrimination to me. It only takes one lawsuit to go out of business! (: read more

Came here on a Thursday for dinner and was able to get a seat right away. The restaurant has a classsy western feel with wood everywhere. I ordered the great lakes chowder and a chicken ceasar salad (which was HUGE); overall everything was delicious and the waitstaff were very polite. On the other hand, my Prime Rib, although waaay more medium than medium rare, the flavor was excellent ,the au jus hot, the horseradish cream, creamy & horsey and the sweet potato fries CRISPY !! Most of the time, when you get them,they are limp and soggy. Not at Walker Road House ! It was a bit noisy, but we went for dinner at 6:45, the height of the dinner rush, and that's to be expected. A very comfortable and casual restaurant that looks like a favorite with the locals, as it was very busy. We came from the Detroit area and were looking for a nice spot to have a nice dinner and the Walker Roadhouse did not disappoint! I had the tenderloin medallions in a burgundy sauce that was absolutely delicious! Much better prepared than some fine dining establishments in some big cities I've traveled to. Others in our party had the the pretzel encrusted walleye, the prime rib, and the chicken caprese. All were wonderful! The restaurant also has a nice selection of Michigan wines and brews on tap. Dinners were all nicely priced and you get a lot for your dollar. Definitely worth the trip! read more

We eat at this restaurant often due to the fact that we live a quarter mile away. So sad to say my Traverse City Chicken salad was very poor. Cantaloupe was sour(gone bad) and couldn't find the Traverse City dried cherries in the chicken salad. Disappointed but not ready to give up on this place. This is my second time at this place. The first time was pretty good. But this time I noticed that nothing tastes fresh. I got a salmon caesar salad. That salmon was no doubt farm raised and the rest of the Ingredients most likely came in bags from a large grocery. They put RYE croutons on. WHY on why would you assume people like rye croutons on a caesar salad!! My client got fish and chips. The fish seriously looked look they came from a frozen bag and the "chips" were barely cooked and surely looked like they were frozen before cooked. Why not up the prices and provide fresh local fare? We have awesome produce and fish in this town. Take advantage. I would of payed double for a fresh tasting salad. This was a pleasant surprise and we will definately be back. The food was good, with a good portion size and not too Expensive. It has a nice mission style decor which I love and an interesting bar.
