Wallace is a new to me chicken and especially chicken sandwich place that have some amazing deals for quality fried and grilled chicken. Their combos are all under $11, with some under $9. They even have a special for 3 fried chicken sandwiches for $10. And it's good tasting chicken too. I won't say it's the best chicken sandwich I've ever had, but I'm also not a huge sandwich guy either. I'd much rather have pieces or even tenders if I'm having chicken. But for what it is, this is pretty tasty stuff. I also thought the workers were very courteous and not overbearing. One of my quick tests of I'm going to like a place is if they let me read for a good half hour without interruption or, gods forbid, kicking me out. They use chicken thighs instead of breast, so the meat is super juicy, tender, and flavorful. The breading has that perfect crunch without being too heavy, and the seasoning actually reminds us of the fried chicken sandwiches we'd get in China: savory, a little peppery, and really high quality for a casual spot. I tried the regular sandwich to compare to other places, and I really liked it! It comes with pickles and mayo and it tasted good on its own. Their special sauce is 39 cents more. While the sandwich doesn't need it, in my opinion, it added a nice flavor to it. There are also yellow chilis to add a kick of spice. The pickles were a little on the sweet side, but still had a little tang and crunch to them. The workers were pleasant and the inside is still bright and open like it was when XLB. I was so excited to try the chicken that I drove all the way here, but my experience here left much to be desired. I got the chicken nuggets bucket with waffle fries and a beverage. The food and value were really good. The food comes out fresh and hot. But other than that, it took like 25-30 mins to get the food. We were told that it would take 25 mins beforehand, but we didn't want to leave after driving all the way here. The restaurant was not that busy on Friday night, but a few other people there were also waiting for a while. Each order came out really slow for a fast food restaurant. The service was also meh, we were not told that there will be no sauce provided. They just told us that there is "complimentary sauce" which is just ketchup that was empty. So, we only bought one special sauce which was so little for the entire bucket of chicken. I would recommend buying their special sauce accordingly if you come here. Lastly, their options for beverages were lacking. Zero pepsi that I wanted was out of service. Their regular pepsi tasted very watered down and I didn't like the rest of the options. Also, the owner recommended the fries over the waffle fries has his own personal favorite and I am glad I took his suggestion because those fries were delicious! Spicy Wings were also perfectly crispy and juicy. I also got to try all the sauces (Wa, Nashville, and Caribbean which was a mango habanero sauce) - they were all very well-balanced and had good depth of flavor. As for the service, my cashier happened to be one of the owners of the original XLB and now this Wallace Chicken location. Johnny was very personable and fun to talk to! I can tell he has a lot of passion and love for ensuring that he and his staff provide the best customer service possible. It seemed like people not only came here for the affordable and delicious food, but also because of him. He really takes the time to get to know everyone who walks in. At the time that I came in, initially the nuggets weren't going to be available until 1-2 hours later but I guess they had a new batch ready much earlier so I really appreciated that he went out of his way to let me know so I can try them! Bumped into the Mayor a few months ago and she told me this place was one of the largest fast food chains in the world. Finally got around to trying it today and it was delicious. We got the nugget bucket (45 pcs), fry bucket, fried green beans, and the 3 for $10 chicken sandwiches. The sandwiches were solid but the real star were the sides! I do wonder how they can keep the price so low... but at this point, we do like their Chicken Sandwich over a few other places (which I will not name). It is an Asian-style Chicken Sandwich, the mayo is a bit sweeter along with the pickles. Despite the gym, RunRepublic, and other storefronts in this plaza, it was easy to find parking spots in front of the restaurant. Customer service was good. Finally decided to see for ourselves why this place was so popular on socials....ugh sadly it's mid at best. Tried a little bit of everything on the menu since we were a big group and we all agreed that it does not live up to any of its hype or 4.5stars on Yelp. Using dark meat for the sandwiches is a great concept esp for the Asian clientele however it was not the juicy moist dark meat chicken I was hoping for. Instead at first bite the chicken was dry and stringy which is usually an indicator that it was overcooked ruining the texture. A few of the waffle fries were burnt with charred, carcinogenic blisters. Fries were okay. Probably the best thing was the nuggets. Sauces were not good either so we stuck with ketchup.
