What can I say about Wally's , from the valet service to the dessert this meal was infallible! The wait staff was amazing! The service was some of the best we have experienced anywhere we have ever been. And the food....oh my where to start! We had dover sole, braised short ribs and the filet. Every mean l was a 12 out of ten! The baked alaska was delicious, amazing decadent lave cake and the sorbet was literally and perfect. Not high enough praise for our experience at Wallys. Easily the most over rated restaurant in the Coachella Valley. Had a group of 8 people to celebrate my wife's birthday. From being seated to taking our initial order over an hour. Came here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday, and let me tell you, it hit 5 stars on all accounts. To begin, the ambiance is incredible. It has a timeless decor inside, and it's spacious, classy and beautiful. You instantly feel the elegance. Next, it's quite clear the service was 5 stars. We were circled around, warm (very very warm) fresh bread and cool butter was brought out, which is always a win for me! Drinks were unique and flavorful, but the showstopper was the food. Unfortunately, the photos couldn't be taken prior to because we were hungry and it was delicious, but we got the short ribs and the chili and sea, which were both excellent. The Chilean Seabass was so well seasoned that I didn't even add lemon for the first time in my life. We also got to meet Madelyn, the owner, and discuss the business a bit and learn more about it. We kept hearing how amazing this place was. We live in Palm Springs so after a few years of being here decided to go for my dad's birthday. We arrived and yes what a beautiful place! The ambiance and music there is very posh and upscale! The downside the food was nothing to write home about. Flavorless and overpriced. The crème brûlée was like flan (soggy). We are very familiar with good food and service and this place did not bring it in those departments. Very short overpriced and unoriginal menu. I'd only return to hear the great musician and sit at the bar for a cocktail (the only thing worth the $$). read more

We were visiting Palm Springs and stayed in Palm Desert and this restaurant was around the corner from us. It's been around for over 40 years! We had an outstanding meal here. The mushroom soup was delicious. We then had the red and yellow endive salad which had a delicious vinaigrette and pear and Brie and dried cranberries. It's was SO good. I had the Dover Sole muniere which is a signature dish. Rightly so. It's cooked perfectly and tastes amazing. The mashed potatoes were perfect. My husband had the scallops, They were cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the banana's foster soufflé. Best soufflé I've ever had. I'm from New Orleans and Commander's Palace is an institution and their soufflé was king but sorry...Wally's wins by a landslide. We also had the Baked Alaska because where in the world is this ever on the menu? Delicious!! We enjoyed everything so much. The owner even came by and she was such a genuine and sweet lady. She even gave us a military discount!! The manager checked on us multiple times. We saw the owner and manager working hard helping out with service as well. Solid 4 stars. The place is a bit dated and gives the impression that it's a remaining vestige from the golden days of yore (think Reagan 80's era). The live music was very kitsch and decor a blend between high Hollywood regency and 80's Versace. Service by Francisco was refined and the food was all very good. Traditional French base and it kind of felt like we were at the nice restaurant on a cruise ship. It seemed to be a slow night for what I would imagine should be a popular spot for Sunday supper. The dessert soufflé seem to be a "thing" and the chocolate and cherry were excellent. I would absolutely go back. read more

We booked this restaurant for a specific dessert for Christmas day dinner, the buche de Noel and confirmed it was still listed on the menu same day. It was removed from the paper menu at the restaurant and replaced with chocolate mousse. My mother wanted the turkey dinner but the menu was missing 3 items that was listed on the website. After we ordered I called the manager over to ask why the menu was different and he denied it at first until I pointed it out. He stated the turkey dinner was the same they just didn't list all the ingredients. He offered to switch the meal and we declined. He offered to comp a drink for each of us but I had already drank 2 so I declined. Our server was unpleasant and I watched a female manger in a red suit pick her teeth twice and not wash her hands. My spare rib dinner had 1 pearl onion and a tiny slice of red onion. It was good but lacking of sides. My mom's desert did not have cherries jubilee as listed and when we asked the waiter he stated there was a red sauce... there wasn't. The desserts were tiny and I expected better for a $240.00 dinner. There was almost no Christmas ambiance. We received better service from Lily who wasn't even our server. All in all it was a complete let down and there are so many nice restaurant in the desert I would not return. read more

6 family members had a reservation at 5:00 Thanksgiving (under Megna). Upon arriving it was obvious something was off before entering. A line of crowds all the way out the door up to the Greeter. Overcrowded and definitely overbooked. Our 5:00 reservation became 5:45 while dogging other patrons left and right. The staff (sorry Maddy and Michael) were entirely overwhelmed, running through the restaurant frenetically. Finally seated, our drinks ordered, only to wait 20 minutes. The Thanksgiving meal was mediocre for the price per person. An almost $300 tab for 2. Not an enjoyable Thanksgiving meal. Very disappointing as Wally's is/was my favorite. read more

Wally's just always does it right, even, or especially, on New Year's Eve. Rather than tired pre-prepared meals that so many even upscale restaurants serve on 12/31, we had a delicious and fresh selection of entrees to choose from last night. Medallions of filet mignon were cooked to just the right requested temperature, and the rack of lamb was superb. Amusee bouche, salads, sides, and dessert were just perfect on New Years Eve, as they are every time that we visit this restaurant. Service was impeccable, even in the chaos that we call New Year's Eve. The 'new' generation of ownership has not skipped a beat, Wally's remains a classic and is even being enhanced, and the festive, upscale setting was both appreciated last night and is something to look forward to for our next visit. This was our first night in Palm Springs and I had booked this place to try out. I had reservation for later but upon calling they could fit us in earlier. It is and old classic looking place. When we entered it was mostly older couples. The place looked nice and the lighting was on the dimmer side. I ordered A Remy and it was a straight house pour which is expected in this kind of place. The soup of the day was mushroom and I got it. Not bad, nice flavor. I asked about the oysters and he didn't have the Kumimotos but said the ones he did have were medium size not the big ones. I love the small ones because they have better flavor. When they came out they were very big and had the flavor of them which was very disappointing. My wife got the Caesar salad and it was good. I got the imported Dover Sole which was the waiters recommendation. It came out and was over cooked. He said that is the way it is. I didn't like it at all. I guess older people want it over cooked. I sent it back and he took off half of the price. It was supposed to be their best dish. My wife got the salmon and it was ok. My friend got the scallops and sea bass they were ok We ended with the Wally's souffle which was good and the lemon brioche pudding. This place was just ok I am not sure I would come here again. My friends & I always enjoy Wally's Desert Turtle. But our Thanksgiving dinner this year was exceptionally great. We were a party of 8 and the place was totally jammed during our entire stay. Despite serving almost 800 meals, everything was perfection. We never felt ignored -- just the opposite. Service was impeccable. Food was delicious and served hot and each course arrived in a timely manner. It was a true feat of epic proportions for them to get everything right while dealing with that many people. Highly recommend Wally's. I celebrate my birthday and Thanksgiving there with friends and smaller gatherings with dinner or Happy Hour. It's a wonderful treat. The food is delicious, the service is excellent. The restaurant is upscale and deserves to be treated with clientele dressing appropriately. I am often surprised when I see men in shorts or jeans and t-shirts particularly for Thanksgiving Dinner but actually for any dinner. I do have to stop myself from commenting but it's not easy when most of us dress appropriately. I also feel that dressing for the occasion shows respect for the establishment. I don't care if you are on vacation you can pack something nicer to wear. Enjoy, it's a treat. read more

Finally made it to Wally's as a birthday party of 6. Very disappointed in many ways. Service was just so so and disjointed. Waited nearly 30 minutes to order drinks. Dinner waiter was better once menus were brought. Food prices on some items were very high, particularly for the quality. Salmon, Cauliflower, cheeseburger, and half chicken were "just okay ". Same for the starters of onion soup and salads. Four of us said we would not return based on food quality, prices and ambience. Remaining two said maybe they would. It is a beautiful restaurant but It was just not a special experience for the $700 tab. UPDATE- Wally's reached out to me to apologize for my experience. They kindly offered me a gift card to try them again. While I did not accept the card, their gesture, concern and appreciation for the feedback tells me they are committed to running a good establishment. Kudos for paying attention! Wally's wasn't really on my radar (I'd heard of it many times as i work somewhere with similar clientele) but a friend/coworker of mine had gone in with a few friends and told me I had to experience. Since it's restaurant week my husband and i figured why not check it out. Although I'm aware, working in restaurants, it's not always exactly like what is offered on the menu, we'd check it out anyway. The server suggested the lamb and ahi. So i figured I'd try those. For dessert I asked for the best one. I kinda figured it would be the uncharged one, but since he recommended it, i trusted him. I ordered the soufflé, and just asked whatever one was the most popular. He said the bananas, fosters or chocolate, since my husband is allergic to bananas I went for the chocolate one. Nothing was a disappointment. Drinks were good, food was incredible, service was perfect. Friendly, and hardly ever had much of a wait when we needed something. Wally's is meant to be a full experience. It's not turn and burn. They seat you WITHOUT menus, then bring a drink menu, THEN a dinner menu. It's more old school and meant to be a full experience. You have 4 people who help you which might be a little confusing (it was for me, i talked to a past GM about the experience and said it confused a lot of people lol) but you have a front waiter, back waiter, busser and i believe runner. They are a team who work together. Your drink order will prob be taken by a different person than who takes your food order. Just a heads up because although everyone was helpful i try not to bother anyone else but my server when i go to eat. Awesome experience. We didn't have a reservation, but was able to sit in the bar area. The feeling is sort of old Las Vegas, older school. I loved it. I'm looking forward to going back soon, although might be AFTER summer since they close during the summer! read more

Went there for Thanksgiving and had 6;30 reservations. Stood until seated until 7:30 at which point I complained to the mange about over-booking and finally got seated. I don't know why I come back each year, maybe because want to be there. This happens every year I wait at least an hour and I get madder and madder and vow never to come back. I ordered the turkey dinner and the turkey was like a dried out mattress. This is it, no more, and I suggest nobody else experience by going to this restaurant. read more

This is a tough one. The food, the atmosphere, the service was all excellent. What really frustrates me though is adding a 3% fee for the back of the house staff. I paid $75 for Dover sole. Well worth it and delicious but charge me 80 if you need another 3% to cover expenses. The 3% fee makes you look really cheap. Pay your staff and do it in a way that it's not so blatant. It's as tacky as Coply's charging $.25 for a blue cheese olive. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Wally's is definitely a throwback to gracious dining, very formal service and opulent ambiance of years past. I was pleasantly surprised at the decor with its elegance and warmth. The booths are comfortable and private. The live music was the perfect background touch that wasn't obtrusive or interfered with conversation. Service was always there were you needed it and the food came out fast. Like really fast. We split the burrata salad and it came within minutes and was prepared nicely for each of us. It was a great salad and a nice prelude to the entree. I had a chicken special stuffed with cheese and spinach that came with lovely roasted vegetables. The portion size was generous and I took half home. This was a great dish. Dessert also came within minutes and was plated beautifully (see picture). The chocolate cake was decadent and delicious. Wally's is a dining experience that you gotta try for yourself. read more

We had a 7:15 reservation for 4. The place is busy. We arrive early. The bar is small, so it's hard to get a seat to for a drink. They accommodate with a small room with a few tables for people either doing happy hour or waiting for a table. Luckily we get a table. 7:15 arrives and we all had one cocktail now going on two and we waited easily another half hour for our table in the Main dining room. I order escargot. It came simply in the shell and no toast or bread for mopping. It's very good, but not served properly. The wine list is one of the most ridiculous lists Ive ever almost seen. Because you can't see it. The print is like an "eye test". So for the sake of enlarging every line on my iPhone we order a Bordeaux for $56 which was good. (on the list with bigger print for popular wine) Crabcakes, well done and nothing special, lamb is a generous portion of Colorado lamb which looked better than it tasted. Served with couscous and asparagus .A little flat. Short ribs,....the same. OK nothing great. Service is marginal at best. But we had plenty of people asking us how we like our food. Not going back. Don't need the hassle. There is a Highlight! The bread guy served tons of rolls, and I was able to find him to give me a roll for my Escargot. read more

Wally's is wonderful! In particular, the Thursday pre-fixe luncheon and fashion show is a unique and lovely event. I have been to it over a dozen times and both myself and my guests can't say enough about it! The complimentary valet upon arrival, interior ambiance of the restaurant, the professional & well groomed and dressed staff, on top of the delicious food (ESPECIALLY the soup du jour...always WOWS), and gorgeous, friendly models displaying local El Paso fashion is such a fun and refreshing nod to old world dining.
