I went to Wally's with a group of 6 on a Friday night. I had a glass of martini , Escargots for appetizer, Cervena Venison for main course and grand mariner suffle for desert. Escargots was fresh and tasty. Cervena Vension (I think it was dear meat) was very tender and delicious. Suffle was good too. Overal I really liked the food. Food is 5 star. But service wasn't that good. Our server was kinda goofy guy. I didn't like his service at all. Too pushy . He took my friends half full martnini away without asking. After my friend finds out that her martini is missing we complain about that and he goes and brings back a 1/3 full martini. I mean that is something i wouldn't expect from such a high class restaurant. We had a Captain for our table and he just came and ask us how we doing and left. Ambiance was very nice . Very nice piano player for all night. Only thing i didn't like there was a strong smell: a smell like gone-bad-fish or something. Saturday night at 9pm, high season - we decide to hit Wally's for dinner. We booked a 9:30pm reservation directly on their website. We arrived at 9:30pm and were told that the kitchen was CLOSED!!! Apparently they had closed EARLY last night and therefore they could not honor our confirmed reservation. Why didn't they notify us? The host said he was thinking about calling us but for some reason just never did pick up that phone. What a time-sponge this was, we had to find another restaurant last minute. Add insult to injury, open-table, showed our reservation was CANCELED by Wally's due to NO SHOW? read more

The last time I was here was in October of 2007. VERY expensive, excellent service, food is good (not great), dress up to go here and make a reservation!!! This is one of the true gems of the desert...dispite the inconsistant food flavor. read more

Just ok, a lot better food out there. For what you pay it's really nothing special. It's a nice place but you really aren't missing anything spectacular. Service was solid nothing to complain about but food was average for price and the rude older lady at the host stand gave off a bad vibe, she wasn't pleasant at all. Had an amazing dinner at Wally's on New Year's Eve with a friend. My recommendations include the Roquefort wedge and lightly dusted pan sauteed sole. The only negative was a couple small bones in the fish. Then there is the banana souffle. It was like eating an ethereal sweet puff of spongy love. The ambiance is great and the acoustics are even better thanks to the use of cork in the ceiling. read more

Disappointing that one of the most prominent reviews dings Wally's for its décor. I can only assume that anyone who faults the Botello family for preserving this Steven Chase classic hasn't got a clue about Wally's. If it's a throw back it's also a go back as in you will want to make regular visits to Wally's Desert Turtle. I have enjoyed Wally's for more than 30 years. Few restaurants last that long let alone keep it great all those years. read more

Wow, great restaurant. I stopped in to have a drink at the bar, but decided to try a few appetizers. From the service, especially the bartenders Billy and Colten, to the food, everything was top notch. Had the filet carpaccio and sea scallops. Both were amazing, which you'll get with a talented chef and the best ingredients. But, the highlight was dessert. The soufflé. Actually I had a hybrid Grand Marnier /bananas foster...I had to order another...bananas foster/valrhonna chocolate. You won't be disappointed. read more

Wally's is suppose to be a classy place...Service was abominable... while I understand that it is restaurant week... there is still no excuse for servers not to be more respectful to guests, have basic skills of etiquette, serve from correct side, when someone spills something on the table... offer to assist rather than to totally ignore... Wally's prices are high regardless of restaurant week or not by the time you add liquor but you do NOT mind paying if it truly is a special place... fancy decor, service, food and dress code... Always lovely with great food. We had one our traditional b'day dinners there two weeks ago and it was wonderful... worth the price.

I have money so i never gripe about pricing until now its just obvious that someone kept adding and no one said anything.. Granted some of these diners were having their last meal but honestly they are double what most ps rest charge and the dress is old 50s night at the academy awards..any way about the food...........beef wellington should have pate de foi gras and mushrooms in it...most places it's a mignon inside a gummy pastry ...I was apalled at what I got.. Their bouliabasse was salt and fish gum dispicable they have no decent dessert fresh I mean and when we got our car back from valet there was a distint odor of cigar..(we dont smoke) probabaly stolen from another car. read more

What could be better than having Christmas Dinner at Wally's? The flawless service, the unbelievable food, excellent drinks. I can't offer even one suggestion on how to improve it. I loved every minute and every bite. It is on the expensive side, so don't go on a tight budget, but for that special occasion or if your pocket book allows it is well worth the trip. I LOVE the Mirage Bistro (attached, same chef, a lot less expensive) and eat there often. wally's is a perfect place to kick it up a couple of notches for an even more special evening. read more

I took my wife here on Monday to celebrate her "special birthday". I brought a special bottle of wine which our Captain Carlos gladly decanted. The entire evening was a success. The food and service were excellent. We were able to have our coffee and dessert in the bar while we danced and listened to the piano player. This is a a old world atmosphere that you seldom find here in the states anymore. We didn't feel overdressed for a change. Carlos made us feel like we were special guests. No doubt we will be back when we return to the desert. read more

Wow - what a nice surprise! Wally's is certainly an institution and I was prepared to be underwhelmed...lucky for our group that we were not. The decor is a little old school and dated, but the service and food are standouts for sure! I had the french onion soup to start (yummy!) followed by the pan fried whitefish with butternut squash puree, brussel sprout leaves, smoked bacon and a pomegranate gastrique...ooh la la, so amazing! That fish was seriously one of the best dishes I have tasted in a long time...seriously, that good! We sampled several desserts and all of them were to die for. I have eaten everywhere and this is hands down the best in the Desert. We had an amazing nite here.. everything from the amazing service from our waiter "Chewy", and the Manager, Robert, to the food - steak tartare, halibut, and grand marnier souffle (which was the lightest souffle I have ever had) It was a night I will not soon forget. We joined a group of friends for Christmas Eve dinner. All of us have dined here often, whether in a group or by ourselves. We never imagined we would ever have a bad experience. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy and buzzing, a perfect atmosphere for a Christmas celebration. However we received mediocre food, cocktails and service. Simply horrible. read more

We may have been the youngest couple in there even though we're in our 40s, BUT I have to say I loved this restaurant. The ambiance was classy and not noisy. You can have a decent conversation at your table. Finally a place in California where you feel like you can dress up for a nice dinner. Don't get me wrong, the dress code is business casual, but you will not look out of place if you want to wear nice clothes. The service was superb. The food was great. I had the stuffed chicken breast and my husband had the duck. The bananas foster souffle was the best souffle I've ever had--and, believe me, I know my desserts! Old time Hollywood glamor! We were there on Wednesday in which live music was played. It was noisy but I always love live music.It was jam packed with older retirees. So nice to see that they re having a good time. We were there to celebrate my birthday. I have specifically written on my open table reservation but somehow, nobody remembered. I also informed opentable when they asked for my experience's of today, 2 weeks has gone by and nobody responded. Thank Goodness, my teens didn't care for the singing anyway. Now, let'stalk about the food. We had the Chilean sea bass 4 stars, filet,4 stars, and the beef short rib, 4 stars. for appetizers, we all had the large shrimp, heirloom tomato's with mozzarella cheese. After eating the best heirloom tomatoes and fresh homemade mozzarella cheese in a Michelin rest in Paris last July, it was a let down but it was still good, 3 stars. For desert, we had their famous souffle. It was rather flat and warm. I guess they didn't bring it out immediately and it was sitting in the kitchen too long, so 4 stars. I had the chocolate lava cake and it was perfect, 5 stars. I love the ambiance and the decoration of this restaurant. even though most people are casually dressed but you still feel the glamor! Now, let's talk about the service. Our waiter is rather old and has problem with hearing. you can tell, he has been here forever. The rest of the staffs are wonderful. I asked for direction to the bathroom, one nice young busboy was such a gentleman. He walked me over and even open the door for me!That is quite rare these days so "thank you" and also the valet guys are also very polite and nice. So even though management forgets to sing for my birthday, because of the kindness of the staff, I bumped 1/2 stars to 4 1/2 stars! Amazing dining experience - I had dinner there with friends recently. We were celebrating a birthday and had the good fortune to enjoy a spectacular 7 course family style dinner that the chef prepared for us with gluten free and vegan versions for a couple of the diners. Every course was beautifully presented and deliciously prepared! The ingredients were the best, organic and locally sourced; seafood is sustainable. The service is excellent, the environment is exquisite, the owners are present and treat you like a good friend, checking to be sure everything is as it should be. Dined here on Christmas night. Our experience was the total opposite of previous reviewer. This is one of those nights like Valentines Day and Mother's Day where there is a huge chance things will not go well. However, From start to almost finish, the experience was top notch. The "team" serving the room we were in, was well organized and very professional. We ordered from the prix fixe menu and everything was flavorful, well presented and cooked to our liking. Cocktails were delish as well. The only hiccup was as we were leaving, there was a huge traffic jam ( both literally and figuratively) trying to retrieve our car from the valet. Wally 's ... Wally's Desert Turtle occupies a large building on different levels and has smaller and larger spaces. We were two for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was filling up while we were there and the noise level rose steadily. The menu is called "continental" and has some nice things. The wine list is large, although the choice by glass is limited. They even have a prix fixe menu. We had a nice soup good fish and lamb and a lovely souffle for desert. The service is done by uniformed waitpersons who are knowledgeable and competent. The whole place seemed like restaurants thirty years ago - well dressed clientele and professional service. Superb!!! A well deserved Triple A 4 Diamond restaurant! I have been to a few restaurants that hold an undeserved diamond title and this one has exceeded my expectations. I spent a few hours there and service was spectacular. The food was amazing as I am BIG on food. I tried more then a few of their dishes and hope to return to try the rest! The rack of lamb was delicious and succulent. I have had the opportunity to taste this dish on cruise lines and other fine dinning restaurants which were all good but not cooked to perfection as it was here! read more

We went to Wally's on Friday June 19 to celebrate my parents 66th wedding anniversary. My husband and I had never been to this restaurant and were excited to go. Wow what a let down. I realize with this Pandemic times are different but really? When we first got there the service was good (not great). As they became busier the service went downhill immediately! As this was a special day for my parents it was such a disappointment. They have eaten there numerous times and use to love this restaurant. They too were disappointed. I had to ask a few times for the check. Prior to that I had to remind the waiter numerous times that it was their anniversary. After a long wait they brought out a mediocre dessert. Just a shame. Last year we took them to the chop house and it was stellar. Even had a private menu with their name and anniversary date. Very impressive! We will continue to celebrate at the Chop House instead of Wally's. read more

If you enjoy dining then go to this fine establishment. I'll make it brief starting at the end of the dinner. How often does the owner take the time to come to your table, introduce himself, and in a kind and very personable manner seek to meet you as well as inquire about your experience. For me that is almost never, however at Wally's this was the case. The owner was a very nice guy who exudes "hospitality" in every sense of the word ( and he comes from a very successful restaurant family). That says it all, because he clearly runs this establishment in the same vein. The interior is elegant, the food was very good and the service is as good as I have experienced anywhere in the world. The pricing is also fair. In fact the pricing is similar, if not slightly less, than places like Flemings etc. But Wallys is head and shoulders over those dining chains. I can tell you it is not cheap, but it is "value received". In a word Wallys really is QUALITY and this starts and ends with the quality owner and staff. BTW I rarely write reviews, however in this case and in this day and age, this establishment deserves the support they have and I wish them continued success. read more

Food was great! Staff was amazing! Went here for my bachlorette party and you could tell they weren't used to having a group of loud talking women in the place but they still welcomed us with open arms, were extremely friendly, never asked us to keep the noise down, and even brought the chef out to meet us and again for a picture!
