They truly saved our night and birthday celebration! This was our second visit this week, and the service was just as superb as the first time. We enjoyed our wine selections so much that we ended up purchasing the same two bottles again. The atmosphere is fantastic and absolutely worth the drive. Had an espresso before leaving. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles. The music created the perfect ambiance, and what made the experience even more special was that the staff remembered us from our previous visit. Daniel, our sommelier, was exceptional--knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate about the wines. Nicole, our hostess, was equally terrific and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Went to Wally's Santa Monica and loved the vibe. super upscale but still comfortable. Great spot for a date or hanging out with friends. My visit to Wally's Santa Monica was a good visit. Walking in, it appeared to be a high end wine store but the host is there to seat you. It is a different setup with dining tables and a bar that us surrounded by categorized walls of wine. There's also an area in the back with more walled wines and seating areas. You can see the staff preparing the plates and there's items for sale such as coffee. I am here for Dine LA Winter 2026. I enjoyed the Parsnip soup to start and the Salmon filet. Paired with a Karwisnkii Sour (and later a Bonded Brothers Old Fashioned) and finished with the Apple Tarte Tatin. Each course of the prix fixe menu was reasonably priced. Wally's is a very fun place to visit next to the beach at Santa Monica. I went just to try the baked Brie at night after dinner to cross it off the bucket list. Despite going at 9pm, the service was a bit slow but the servers were very friendly. I would give a 3.5 but the people made it a 4 There is street parking that charges by meter and structure parking that gives the first 90 mins free. The interior was really spacious - there are aisles of wine bottles on display and for sale. The baked Brie was really good. That said, it was very expensive for four pieces ~$28. I'm not sure I would return but I am glad I tried it. read more

I was in town with friends and we stopped by Wally's for dinner and drinks. Wally's is a gourmet cheese/foods and wine market with a restaurant. I didn't have time to peruse through everything but I have a feeling that I would have walked out with champagne, cheese, and chocolates. The shop is a large open space with wine and spirits bottles everywhere. Upfront there is a large bar and a few high top tables. Behind the bar is the expansive cheese selection, more bottles of wine and the restuaraunt and kitchen. My friends and I were seated at one of the high tables. They are actually communal tables so we had a couple on the far end of our table. Cocktail French Martini Lee-chee martini Starters: -Charcuterie and Cheese board -Pan roasted Cauliflower -Bone marrow - I decided to try the bone marrow. It comes out sizzling hot with crostini. Its a very rich dish. Mains: -Lobster pasta - Maine lobster, house-made squid ink rigatoni pasta, spicy lobster vodka sauce with a little calabrian chilil -Squash gnocchi - wood oven baked winter squash, sage and hazelnuts -House-made cavatelli with mushroom ragout Desserts: Apple tarte tatin Wally's cappucino I loved my cavatelli. If you like mushrooms, you will love this dish. My friends loved their pastas The only let down was the desserts. I ordered the Wally's cappucino. The first few bites were really delicious. I worked my way through the espresso gelato, milk froth, pecan and cocao nib. It wasn't until I got to the coffee custard that I was a tad dismayed. The custard was more jello then custard if that makes sense. I think of custards being creamy and this one wasn't. It was tasty but I was not a fan of the texture. Sadly, I did not finish it. My friend M also had the same experience with her apple tarte tatin. She ate some but not all of her dessert. The cheesecake part was delicious but she didn't like the apples. Aside from the hiccups with dessert, our meal was really good. I will definitely come back to try other items on the menu. read more

Fun vibes, fantastic service, delicious branzino, caviar, and the best vintage 2009 Dom Perignon Rosé. My bestie and I walked by Wally's, I've been to the Beverly Hills location, but Santa Monica location is very lively and amazing. We ordered a light fare because we had food at a nearby hotel. Branzino was amazing and the perfect portion. The wine, and spirits menu was like an encyclopedia! I mentioned to my friend about Dom, but it was too pricey. He said he didn't want to drink inexpensive champagne and that we should enjoy life and being together. So sweet. I don't recall the waiter's name, but he was very attentive. To pair with the vintage Dom Perignon, management sent us caviar. A very decadent evening, and now I'm spoiled. Came a month or two ago after 2-3 years and I thought it was better this time. Tried the duck and it was very good. The sommelier gave a great wine pairings. I personally LOVE their wine and charcuterie menu, but haven't explored it much! Came for dinner, but eager to return in the afternoon for a ladies' afternoon cheese, wine, and chocolate fun. The ambiance is a fun mix of industrial with modern feel from all of the vents and beams exposed with marble stand alone counters. The high ceilings, wine and liquor walls are a highlight and tribute to Wally's theme. I'll look forward to updating when I return. read more

We normally come here for just apps and drinks so this was our first time eating off of their dinner menu. The staff here are always great! We loved our waiter he was super attentive and so were the bussers and other staff that came around making sure our waters were filled and used plates were moved. The little problem was the MEAT! We were a party of 6 and three people ordered the filet mignon. They all requested medium rare. Off the bat you could tell from looking at them they were on the rare side. They were a little burnt from the outside so that just showed they were cooked on too much of a high heat. I ordered the pasta which was delicious! My other two friends order lamb chops and salmon and they liked theirs. So the issue was only with the meat. read more

We finally tried Wally's Wine & Spirits for lunch today, and overall, I'm glad we did--though the experience had a bit of a rocky start. When we first arrived, we waited longer than expected and felt somewhat overlooked by the host. A few parties who arrived after us were seated before we were even acknowledged, which honestly made us consider leaving. Eventually, the host did seat us, but the initial interaction wasn't particularly welcoming. That said, things turned around quickly after that. The gentleman who opened the door for us was warm and gracious, and once our waiter Paolo took over, the experience really picked up. Paolo was attentive, friendly, and professional--truly wonderful service. My husband ordered the cheese pizza along with two glasses of California Pinot Noir, both of which he really enjoyed. I opted for the three-course prix fixe: a Caesar salad to start, followed by steamed black mussels with French fries (moules-frites), which were flavorful and satisfying. For dessert, I chose the double chocolate chip cookie paired with pistachio gelato--an excellent and indulgent finish. The food was solid across the board, and the wine selection is, of course, a highlight. Our total came to about $140 for lunch (two glasses of wine at $20 each, $10 bottled water, and the meals), which is definitely on the pricey side, but not unexpected given the location and wine-focused concept. Despite the rough first impression at the door, I'm glad we didn't leave. Wally's is a beautiful space, the food is good, and if you're a wine lover, this really is the place to be. I usually go to the Beverly Hills location, so this is the first time going to the Santa Monica location. We got seated inside by the window. The service was amazing. They let you try a bunch of different wines before deciding on the class or a bottle. I enjoyed the Albariño . I wish they had more options for glasses. But they have at least 20 to 30 pages of options for bottles. The highlight is the baked Brie with truffle, of course. read more

Wally's Santa Monica was a complete miss. We stopped in for a drink after Hillstone and were met with immediate attitude. The restaurant was half empty, outdoor tables sitting open, yet we were told that because we "only wanted wine," we had to sit at the bar--where there were no seats. Imagine wanting wine at a wine bar... smh. When we asked the blonde hostess to seat us anyway (we could have easily ordered a full bottle which could surpass the price of a meal), she shut it down with a dismissive, rude tone. Only after pushing and pointing out the empty outdoor tables did a more senior woman reluctantly allow us to sit--for one hour. Then, unbelievably, the hostess added that we'd need to pay for our drinks at the bar, as if we were likely to skip out on the bill. The entire interaction felt targeted and biased. The hostility was immediate and unnecessary, and the assumption that we couldn't be trusted was offensive. They also clearly had no idea who they were speaking to--we were with someone who hosts a top radio show and podcast. This location does not understand hospitality. Management should take a hard look at their front-of-house staff. read more

However, we were really let down by the service. Our server was visibly annoyed with us from the start. A light joke about wine was met with annoyed, awkward silence, and throughout the meal, he just seemed frustrated. It really took away from what could have been a great experience. My friend and I came here for the recent dineLA menu. I remember Wally's when it was just a huge wine store in West LA. Now it's not only a wine store which has wine tasting from time to time, but it's also a restaurant, along with some high end sundry items like olive oil, assorted chocolates and truffles, sardines, and cheeses amongst other items. Both of us started with the Tiger Shrimp as an appetizer. The grilled tiger shrimp was marinated with an achiote-peach marinade, with charred yellow peach, sweet nacelle peppers, tomatillo, and a watercress mojo verde. The shrimp was tender and sweet, and the accompany flavors were delicious. Next we had the Petit Steak Frites which was a grass fed skirt steak, pomme frites, and a bernaise sauce. The skirt steak was grilled to perfection medium. It was so juicy and tender, I'm drooling as I write this review. This was the best tasting, perfectly cooked to order steak I've had to date. The accompanied pomp frites were crisp, tender and served piping hot. Everything was seasoned perfectly. I'd definitely order the first two courses on future visits. For our third and final course, we went with the Chocolat Noisette. Valrhona chocolate fondant, hazelnut praline on a cocoa crunch served with hazelnut gelato. The most perfect was to end a delicious meal. Wally's offers an extensive wine selection by the glass or bottle. They also have a full bar. The seating is large tables, some that accommodate 6 to 8, and larger ones for bigger groups. They also have seating at the bar. Later in the evening it can get very busy and loud, so if you want a quiet meal, this isn't the place. Service is professional and attentive. I love Wally's and have been to both locations in Beverly Hills and in Santa Monica. I would definitely say I like the Beverly Hills location better but Santa Monica was very good as well. A lot of the menu is small plates that pair well with any of the excellent wine choices they have. We went for dinner and had Pizzas and salads and the good was just okay. Our three guests were very disappointed with the table. We sat out with no backs on the chairs, which is quite uncomfortable sitting for 90 minutes like that. Service was fair and I don't think we'll be revisiting this location. read more

Quite possibly the best charcuterie I've had all year. Love coming to Wally's for appetizers but I know many come for a full on meal. The Iberico chorizo was amazing and flavorful. I went conservative with solid cow cheeses and they were tasty. The Cesar salad was good for sharing. Many people were DINING but we had reservations elsewhere. You definitely should have wine as they have a massive selection, but I went standard martini (excellent) since dinner was coming next. I love to just wander here and explore the walls of wine and other fine whiskeys. Service is solid and it's a festive atmosphere to enjoy with friends. A bit pricey but hey...YOLO. Highly recommend a reservation here and you still might wait. One day I'll splurge on dinner but a great way to warm up. read more

Service was good, the only thing is I see it has award winning wine list but by glass options were quite limited not much variation. Not going to lie... I did not have high expectations for this place. After looking at the menu and prices earlier in the day before arriving.. the menu felt unnecessarily expensive and somewhat basic for what was being offered but I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy everything we ordered. Cocktails are expensive, even for LA, at $25 a drink but they are creative and so good. But let's move onto the food. We ordered a pick three cheese board, the kampachj crudo (on special), pan con tomate w/ spanish jamon (also on special), cacio e pepe and their peking duck, all to share. Both the specials we got were fantastic. The Spanish jamon is an experience and melt in your mouth delicious and I'm absolutely obsessed with the pan con tomate they paired the jamon with. The kampachi crudo was also excellent & so fresh. Beautiful presentation. But what I actually loved most was the charcuterie board... they do these so well! I wish I got a picture. Great cheese and meat options and lots of extras on the board like nuts, figs, jams & honey. The cacio e pep was great but not mind blowing. Still good though & a good version of this dish. We also ordered the peking duck (great to share) but agreed this was more like duck with asian flavors instead of authentic peking duck. But hey, don't expect the Peking duck at a wine bar in Santa Monica to be authentic. We did thoroughly enjoy this though. Service is top notch. Only grief here is it felt like they kept trying to take my plate away before I finished my food. Prices are expensive but the quality is there. It's def a fun place to go & share a bunch of things. Overall, I thought this place would be mediocre but it really exceeded my expectations across the board and all my friends agreed. I actually am really looking forward to going back for their charcuterie boards and specials as those were the star of the show, in my opinion. I want to rave about a lunch my husband and I enjoyed today at Wally's in Santa Monica. The weather was warm and sunny so we sat outside, in an intimate enclosed patio area, very near Ocean Avenue on Wilshire. The service was friendly, attentive and efficient, and the ambiance overall, felt special. We ordered the Prix Fixe menu, with a choice of two items, one an appetizer, the other, an entree. For $29!!! There is also a three item option which includes dessert for $35. The choices are wonderful. I ordered the dorade for my entree and started with a Caesar salad. My husband had the endive appetizer salad and an omelette as his main dish. Well, the salads came out looking like gorgeous works of art, mine topped with finely grated fresh Parmesan that looked like freshly fallen snow, dappled with colorful cadmium yellow and lime green bits of edible flower petals. His endive salad had purple edible flowers , small cubes of cheese, tiny tomatoes with burgundy , white and green endive in a delicious sweet-citrusy dressing . It was an equally beautiful presentation when the main courses arrived . But more importantly, the food was absolutely scrumptious . read more

This place is wildly overrated. Don't ever go here. Here are among the various things that made this one of the worst dining experiences. 1. Reservation - We made a reservation weeks in advance for a two-top. Instead, we were placed in a group table. When we mentioned our reservation, they told us there weren't any available. As Seinfeld famously said, "You know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation." 2. Weather adjustments - It was very windy outside. They had no way to keep the entrance door shut, leading to the entire front of the restaurant absorbing the winds and cold temperatures. When we asked to be sat in the back of the house, they said it wasn't open because they didn't have any servers available for that area. In the middle of our dinner, I used the restroom and saw that there were actual tables being served. Bottom line, the host was unprofessional, unaccomodating and a liar. 3. Food portions - The food itself was good. The portions were terrible. They charged entree-level prices for kids-meal sized portions. A huge ripoff to say the least. read more
