I am surprised reviewers to Yelp give this Walmart Neighborhood Market a lowly 2.5 rating, yet Google offers it a more amplified 4.1, I think a yay bit little too much! As far as this Walmart Neighborhood Market goes and giving it a benefit of the doubt to hard working associates - management excluded. This store has improved somewhat since it's remodeling not too long ago. It's product line has also gone better. But there are still too many factors it should work on (other stores also need to heed this issue as it is not just at this location). Your folks in general look like their tired, maybe overworked. Your store(s) need improved rotation of dated perishable products, eliminate entirely any cold foods that 'go back' - do not put them back on shelf... you don't know how long they've been there, do real inspections of counters - both dry and cold, especially meats and produce. And (corporately) improve your dating specifications or requirements, as expires by a particular date, the product always seems to expire sooner - what's with that? These are some of the issues that confront me (or should I say all customers) every time I visit. As an educated consumer and as a former secret shopper, believe me these improvements are critical to enhanced sale, reduction in returns and a much, much happier and satisfied customer. read more

I usually try to limit what I buy from Walmart because it's always hit or miss. Well, this experience did it for me. I bought some ground beef that looked fine at first, but as I was checking out and bagging my items, I started smelling something awful -- the best way I can describe it is like a farm full of manure. At first, I thought it was just someone nearby, but when I got in my car, the smell was still there. I checked my bags and realized it was coming from the ground beef. When I looked closer, I saw greenish stuff seeping through the packaging. Absolutely disgusting. I'll never buy food items from Walmart again, and honestly, this experience has completely turned me off from ground beef altogether. Quick in and it has a great selections and for the most part the associates are very willing to help. Biggest challenge here is the neighborhood. They do not keep enough carts up front usually have to grab in the lot. Produce is ok, meat always expires with 3 days. read more

Long story short, fuck this Walmart. Every time we go here (we keep going because it's way closer to us than any other Walmart) I have to wait 20 minutes at least for anyone to get me anything behind a glass door. You have to ask 5 employees and get ignored by 4 of them and wait half an hour for anything. They're all walking around on their phone doing nothing ignoring every body. Nobody responds when you push the button for assistance, it's ridiculous. And none of the employees are educated on literally anything. You ask where something is and they guide you the wrong way. You ask another employee and they send you to the other side of the store. To be honest another customer might have better answers for you than the people that work here. I occasionally stop in this store while driving past. I will try to keep my comments on the positive side. NOTE if you don't read anything else: if you are shopping here, it is imperative that you check the expiration date for food items. So, my comments here will primarily be about my experience with packaged food items in this store over the past 2 years. Generally, I don't buy a lot of packaged food, but when I do, I go to Wal-mart because they generally have the cheapest prices. But for a while, many of the items that I did buy were extremely close the expiration date or beyond it. There is a certain brand of frozen biscuits I like to indulge myself in from time to time. I've only seen them at Wal-Mart, of course. So, I bought them at this store once. I got them home and realized they had expired in 2008, it was early 2010. Like I said, I may stop through here once a month in passing to do some shopping for packaged items - because I won't buy meat there at all. I stopped through there a couple times recently and I have found that I only saw some yogurt that was expired in the cooler and salad dressing that was due to expire the next day. None of the packaged items I bought were expired or extremely close to the expiration date - I usually check everything before I put it in my cart. I find that the produce section of this store is sub-standard at best. Can I see shallots, buttnut squash, artichokes or any locally grown veggies/fruits? They carry typical fresh veg and fruit. I applaud that , but much of it looks unsavory and old. Again, in the recent 2 months, I've seen an improvement in this area as well, so I applaud that. Will I stop shopping there on occasions? I really like this Walmart Neighborhood Market. It's structured well and they hardly change the aisles. This Walmart offers produce, bakery goods, cleaning supplies, beer and liquor! I'm not a big fan of the concept of the Walmart Neighborhood Market - according to Walmart, it's supposed to "woo shoppers with easier parking, less crowded aisles and quicker checkout." I can see how that would be appealing to someone who treats Walmart SuperCenter as the place to do their primary grocery shopping. In that case, the individual would probably welcome the opportunity to skip out on the toys, electronics, home goods, and massive lines that characterize your average Super Walmart. They would probably be thrilled with the fact that this version of Walmart maintains the low prices but downsizes the space and speeds up checkout (and for that matter, has self-checkout, which larger Walmarts do not). However, since I shop for groceries elsewhere (my love, Fresh and Easy, or Fry's), only get food at Walmart if I'm also there shopping for other things, and see Walmart as a place to find home goods (paper products, cat food, towels) at really low prices, the Neighborhood Market doesn't really serve my needs. When I went to this location last night to check it out on the day of its grand opening, I discovered that the selection of non-food home goods is pretty small. As an example, they only had 2-3 brands of cat food. They also didn't have hard alcohol (only wine and beer), and the deli selection looked pretty slim. To sum it up, if you frequent larger Walmarts for food, limited house goods, and the pharmacy, you will appreciate having a downsized version of the store. If you like going to Walmart to find a really large selection of every kind of product, you will probably not find the Neighborhood Market too useful. read more

The Walmart Neighborhood Market opened last week. I heard a lot of rumors that it was supposed to be the "Fresh and Easy" of Walmarts. I'm not a huge fan of Fresh and Easy - I find them so so, asi asi, good for some stuff but can't do everyday grocery shopping there. The Walmart store carries groceries, a great produce section, bakery items, meat and frozen foods. their deli section left much to be desired.. Perhaps it was because I was there on opening day, but there wasn't much variety or selection. In fact there wasn't much variety of products other than the Hispanic foods, they have an entire section devoted to Marquez Brothers (a local company) so that was pretty cool. I grabbed a few items (crappy wine selection btw) and made my way to the cashiers. Now I know it was opening day, but none of them knew how to work their registers. It took me over 20 minutes to check out (I had 4 items).. Inpsite of the grocery store theme I still can't get past the taste of Walmart in my mouth. I'll probably still drive across the street to Fry's. read more

I have to admit this is a good idea. It's what you would end up with if you took a Walmart, removed the grocery store section, and set it by itself. You can find groceries at Walmart prices without setting foot into a full-fledged Walmart. This store was also clean, well-stocked, and the employees were friendly. read more

You are not a good neighbor. You don't answer your phones and youu take delivery's at all times of the day and night. I was told last year that you only accepted deliveries from 6:00AM til 6:00PM. If I could give this place zero stars I WOULD! I will never forget the HORRIBLE way the staff treated me! Just starting yelp, I can't give you guys an exact date I came in, but I know the last time I was in I just had to put all my stuff back and leave. The "customer service" manager, Lisa, could really use a refresher in whatever management training they give at Walmart. With one register open and 12 customers deep, Lisa and another employee felt that cleaning up the registers was more important than the actual customers all waiting in line for the poor cashier who pulled the short straw tonight. I wish I could say that this was an anomaly at this location but I can't. This was just the straw that broke the camels back. Get it together Lisa! Horrible experience. I will also be calling corporate because to ignore your customers and then an employee to say to another in reference to you "cash me out side" that is a threat. And just shows the quality or lack there of of your employees. I needed assistance asked an employee and pressed a button and received no help or acknowledgment while the manager GREG was chit chatting. I spoke to him about it and his response was "ok". I know this is walmart but I would think management at least would know what respect and customer service was I guess not. I highly recommend reviewing your hiring process and that of your management team because the quality is below acceptable. read more

Stopped into this store for the first time today to try it out. My first visit will be my last. Being new to the store, and unfamiliar, I was looking for an associate for help. Let me tell you it was easier to find Hillary's emails than it was to find someone to tell me where the tonic water was. Moving on to the checkout was no better. The one "manned" register had a cashier who moved at the speed of smell. Instead of waiting for my frozen items to thaw, I moved to a self checkout. Evidently there is a computer hack going around because the self checkout decided to "check out" after scanning 3 items. As I looked towards the cashier in front of these and finally pried her attention away from her cell phone, she rolls her eyes and says something witty like "just take your stuff out of the bag and start over". At this time, I realized that this was the shopping gods way of testing me and I wasn't in the mood for the Exam. I packed up my wallet, headed across the street to a real store, and was outta there in 5 minutes with groceries in hand and a smile on my face. I was actually pleasantly surprised by this location! Live down the street needed a few things ended up getting more then I came for! Prices are cheaper then frys and the produce section surprisingly was pretty good looking! Will be back again, worth checking out if you're looking to save some money ( bought the same salad across the street at frys for a dollar more). The produce is never fresh the little selection they have is always on the verge of rotting, fruit flies everywhere.

the fry's on baseline near south mountain is kind of beat. i prefer this new walmart. it's much less crowded, cleaner, and green! as you walk through the freezer aisles the lights are censured. i love it! it's also cheaper groceries. i've only been twice so i need to do some further research on products so standbye. read more

Decent prices, sort of stocked & organzied store - sort of not. Long lines, moderately friendly staff, pretty much everything I would expect for a Walmart food store...
