This Walmart is near my work, so if I need anything walmart related I usually end up here on lunch. Every time I go in optimistic, and every time I find what I'm looking for. As I head to the thousands of check out stands, I grab my 99 cent candy from the bulk bin thinking "This time. this time is different!" Then, I scan the seemingly thousands of stands for the 4 that have their lights on and try to pick the shortest line. HA! joke's on me. Shortest line? NOPE. Prepare the rest of your lunch hour - you're going to be here awhile. I am not exagerrating when I say I have NEVER left this walmart less than a 7 on the "There's no way in hell that should have taken that long rage scale" (Scale is 0-11). Haven't shopped at a Wally in 10 years now. Just for perspective. No I wasn't in prison, I was just in the Bay Area for most of that time. Anyway, just came in to get a cheap money order by way of credit card at that little Western Union kiosk (which is convenient) and decided to browse around a bit while here. They have a Wendy's instead of the usual McDs. Didn't know Walmarts did that. +1 for a decent burger on tap. I remember Walmarts (no matter where) being dingy, having a weird cheap-looking color scheme with that stupid Smiley everywhere, and usually being a mess and having odd odors as well. At least this location seems to have gotten its act together in the last decade as far as appearance. No complaints about cleanliness or blocking of the shelves. Food area looks nice. Clothing area even has that faux-hardwood that the remodeled Motel 6s do. Back in the day Walmart always had the rock bottom prices to at least somewhat justify their labor abuse, throttling of small business, general misery in 3rd world factories, etc. At least at this location, that isn't the case at all. Prices are either equal to or even higher than many of the smaller discount stores on and just off S. Virginia. Some of the food prices even compare poorly to a better quality item at Trader Joes. One thing you used to be able to count on at Walmart if nothing else was dirt cheap off brand snacks, chips, sweets and soda that were passable and way cheaper than anywhere else. Now they just seem to carry the same Name Brands as everywhere else with the same Brand Inflation to boot. With literally no price advantage I see no reason to shop here. Yet the place is still jammed up with 100,000 low mobility seniors and trailer trash whipping around at 100 mph with their carts not looking where they are going. Not sure if I'll ever come back but def. not until 2014, coming nowhere near this place for the Black Friday-Xmas Shopping period. I nearly had a stroke at the tire center, they were pissing me off so badly. They have a weird set up where you park outside the tire center door. Then you walk inside and have to wait for the nice but oh my lord so slow gentleman to help you. And God bless him, he was a senior and walked and talked really slow and it took him what seemed like 15 minutes to poke at my car and take my info and then we had to walk and talk really slow all the way back inside and... and... I JUST COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. I had to leave. It was not even 7:30 am in the morning and they were telling me it was going to take 2 hours, maybe more for a simple job -- this AFTER the first thing I mention is how I need to get on the road by 9 am. I might be crazy but I came in here for fabric. I recently bought a sewing machine and wanted some cheap fabric to experiment with. I remember seeing some the last time I was in here. I just needed some yards of fabric cut, it couldn't take THAT long right? Wrong. The fabric section is tiny and located between the automotive and electronics section. There was no one to be found in fabric section. I'm not surprised, I can never find someone in this store when I need one. I went to the automotive department to have someone paged to come to the cut counter in fabric. I hear them say it over the loudspeaker. No one came. I waited a full 10 minutes to see if anyone would come. Then I went over to electronics to see if they could call someone. They did a call to the stockroom to find the fabric employee. Another 10 minutes and still no one. I was about to give up when someone finally walked by and asked if I needed help. I have no idea what department she was from but I didn't care. She cut my fabric, printed the price on a sticker, and I was off. I waited in a short line to pay for my purchase and was thrilled to finally be out of this store. read more

I hate this Walmart. I really do. Once upon a time, there were two Walmarts in town, both not a "supercenter". This one and the one at Northtowne Lane. Back in those good old days, this was the preferable Walmart. When the Supercenter opened up at Damonte Ranch, this one started going downhill. Getting made-over into a Supercenter did little to help. I'm not entirely sure what the problem is. I would say it's the other customers but we regularly go to the Michael's and the Sam's Club in the same shopping center and both of those are fine. Though I will admit to having to deal with more rude people here than at the other locations in town. The staff tends to be ruder as well. Shopping here is simply not an enjoyable experience. I can't tell you how many times we've been in the "Speedy Checkout" lane (20 items or less!) with one or two things and had a person in front of us with a shopping cart FULL of groceries. I've gotten to where I COUNT and this person will clearly have 30+ things. But does the checker ask them to wait in a regular line? Oh heck no. Better to make everyone who is actually doing what they're supposed to wait. And wait. And wait. Did I mention there is no self-check at this location? Because if there was, I would never deal with the iffy "Speedy Checkout" lanes at all. Frustrations galore. I'm not real wild about the layout, though I gather that's the way Walmarts are being organized these days. When the changes first were made, it was impossible to find anything in that store. Even now, I feel like I'm not sure where anything is. I shop here now only if I absolutely have to. And even then, I'm likely to gripe about it the entire time. read more

I never thought I would stoop low enough to shot at Wal-Mart..........Target I love, but Wal-Marts business module has always gone against my grain.........and for the 10 years i was in Scottsdale I never ventured into one...........so when returning to Reno I hit my old Raleys on California and Mayberry.................prices were so much higher than my grocery store in Scottsdale.........SURPRISE! The cost of living if also much higher. So I put on my haz-mat suit and ventured forth,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,not only were the prices much lower, but it was clean, not crowded, easy parking and friendly employees. Still prefer Target and wouldn't buy meat or fresh produce there, but for the staples it is worth it.................... So I go incognito.............baseball cap, sun glasses and alll! I even buy the Generic! How's that for a turn-around................... I'll always love Raleys, but Wal-Mart leaves them in the dust for everything, except freshly sliced lunch meat, meat and produce............... I'm a major Greek Yogurt fan and when you buy a case a week.............at Raley's they were $1,69 each and $1,20 at Wal-Mart................OK, let me defend Scottsdale, My local grocer there charged $109???? Go figure. So, I will do my major shopping at Wal-Mart, but still buy my meats at Raleys as well as my deli meats. I almost feel as though I've drowned my first-born. read more

Even though the prices are low, it kills me how this supposedly logistics genius can't figure things out: 1. It is prevalent that the shopping carts are all over the parking lot to the point, there is hardly a place to park left. 2. They will open a small cluster of registers away from either exit/entrance. then they will put bunch of huge bins with useless crap in the place where the line naturally forms. You get in line and there is an old lady yelling at you from behind the bin that she is in line too. Shopping at WM is strange enough. Please don't make it worse. 3. The produce is shit. I know that anywhere near the holidays you should expect a mad house at Walmart. However the review is not about that, but about the complete and utter disorganization and apathy of the people who work here. I went the day after Christmas to take advantage of reduced Christmas items, nothing was labeled and everything was out of place. Frankly, they do not have anyone working who tries to clean up. I completely understand that unfortunately some human beings, many of which shop at Walmart exclusively, are closer to animals than people making cleanup a battle, but Walmart does not even try. Then to make matters even more interesting, I finally got up to the cashier through huge line beside cash registers that were not even open, only to get to the front of the line where the cashier said hello and nothing else. Her supervisor was apparently counting her drawer. My biggest necessity for customer service is communication. If you tell me there will be a long wait because of such-and-such reason, I won't be mad because I will know something. However, if nothing is said to me, I'm going to wonder what's going on. In this case the supervisor, who should be leading by example and telling me they would be right with me, never looked up and never said anything. That type of activity rubs me the wrong way. Has most items you need for the home. Many prices are good. OK selection of produce, a pretty good bakery, many other foods, some Mexican and Asian foods. I have had a good experience with the employees here. Most seem to be friendly. It is true that last year they reorganized the store and it was hard to find things, now the employees know were things are. On Sundays when I usually shop, they are sometimes sold out of some of the things I shop for. But knowing that, when I see them in stock, I buy enough to hopefully last until the next time I see them in stock. read more

I talked to a manger at customer service and all they did was write down his name. As I'm about to leave the store I realize he was still there. And then proceeded to tell me that's not the first time it's happened. So when we got a hold of a manager all they did was take down my name and tell me that they would look at his mannerisms. As he was doing that the greeter screaming at a woman with a new baby in her arms at least 7 inches from her face. We witnessed this with the manager and he didn't even bat an eye. I wish you could give zero stars. My husband had an appointment at 1:40 today to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. The email he received said to bring ID and insurance card. After standing in line for about an hour he was told he had to have a Medicare card. He doesn't have a Medicare card, he has a Medicare advantage card, which he gave them. He was told he cannot get the vaccine without a Medicare card. This is a bunch of garbage, people with NO insurance are getting the vaccine so why does he need a Medicare Card? I have never been a fan of Walmart and even less now. I will never make another purchase at any WalMart and plan to share this experience with anyone. One of the few Wal-Marts ive had issues with almost every visit. With Prices in-store and what they advertise on their weekly ad. I received an email after doing an online purchase, last week of upcoming movies to own. "Southpaw" Wal-Mart exclusive Steelbook and the price in the ad was that of ($19.79) and said pick up at this low price. Then when I went there the price that the employee was trying to charge me $27.89 after tax. Told me their competitive with other retail prices but not their own. So far the worst walmart store I have been in my life, I still buy just few thing over there. The cashier name Ginger all of the sudden requested id from my companion, citing non existing Nevada law that requires to all the people in the store be checked id even tho they not buying an alcohol as long as i talk to them. No one could cite the law at the place not even manager. In fact manager Perry was rude and told me that they don't care about customers nor about store rating itself. I guess that is the reason why San Francisco bay wouldn't ever want to have such a bureaucracy in the area, there is no walmart stores around with 200 miles. Educate your workers and explain that the customer always comes first. There is no reason to create madness out of nowhere like your employee and managers do all the time. She had to get some formula and baby food for Logan. (Now, she works full time but still qualifies for WIC for the baby). Very disappointed in their customer service and employees response when you ask for help. I was told by one employee "I leave in 4 minutes so I can't help you." When I asked to speak with a manger no one ever came to speak with me. When I went back to customer service no one was at the desk and no one was willing to help. Employee I had an encounter with was VERY rude while exiting the store. She asked to see my receipt (in a not so friendly demanding tone as if she knew I was trying to steal something) to verify that everything was paid for,which is fine.As I went to hand her my receipt she immediately just snatched it right out of my hand as if she is very annoyed or feels that she does not have to be courteous. Once she checked my receipt instead of handing it back to me a gentle manner she just shoves the receipt into one of my bags that I had in the my cart and that was that. No thank you or have a nice day as some employees would usually say. After experiencing that, my sister who was with me and I brought it up with the store manager on how we were just treated. I have been shopping here for more than 3 years. Over the last year it seems this store and together with other Walmart stores the number of employees available to help customers secure items for purchase before going through the checkouts has been getting less and less. This morning I waited for almost 1 hour to try to get someone to conclude my photo printing purchase. I also wanted to buy a micro sd card but ended having to go to Targets instead. In addition I had also waited to get someone one to help me locate some dyes for a project I was working on. No one ever was available and I left about 2 hours in Walmart. Tonight I've had one of the worst experiences dealing with a retail store. I waited in line for OVER AN HoUR to make a return. I needed to return a $50.00 silverware set as I received 3 for Christmas. I was told that because the purchase was over $20.00 and because that particular Walmart didn't have that particular Walmart item, they would give me no refund, not even in store credit. I was told I would have to call EVERY Walmart in the area and have them look for this item to see if they carried it, and then check to see if their policy was the same. I made a return at target the other day for several items with no receipt totaling 80.00. They took the items and gave me cash. Walmart not only doesn't care about their employees, the slave laborers that make their items, or small businesses, but clearly they don't care much about customer service either.
