I recently shopped at this Walmart and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the cashier was very friendly and helpful, and I appreciated the affordable prices and good selection of items. However, I was disappointed that there were no self-checkout options available. Self-checkout is much more convenient for me, especially when I'm in a hurry or only have a few items. Not having that option made the process slower and less efficient. I was also frustrated that certain items, like formula, are locked up and have to be escorted to the front by an employee. While I understand the need for security, it makes the shopping experience less convenient and adds extra wait time. Overall, the staff and prices were great, but the lack of self-checkout and the locked items made the experience less convenient than I would have liked.

We shopped at Walmart the other and while the store was full of shoppers, the was a little bit in disarray, the atmosphere wasn't chaotic; in fact, it was surprisingly calm. There were so many employees restocking shelves, directing shoppers to open registers or answering general questions from customers. The young lady that rang up our purchases was earnestly polite which made our overall shopping experience pleasant.

Generally well stocked. I am greeted when I arrive and when I depart. Lower prices than other stores and obviously a huge selection. I visit here to save some $.

This Walmart is so bad that they have security and Reno police posted here Monday through Friday, still no self check out still no cashiers still long lines, not only that but they still check receipts but 100% racially profile. Bill pay services are never available, they have new Asset protection who harass and threaten customers who are in line or around the store. I'd avoid this store they will double charge you for items and claim they never did I also had a cashier recently steal my cash change back and the store refused to pay me back.

Shout out to Rosita for safe guarding Walmart exit. Oct 31, 2023 around 3PM one dude tried to steal a luggage and wearing an unpaid jacket. Rosita jumped into action, confronting the thief and didn't back down even though she was pushed real hard. It happened in less than a second and I'm more concerned with Rosita above anything else. She definitely take pride of her work, she pray and hope that people would come to their moral and stop stealing.

Whay time does the self checkout Line open?

I don't think it has regular hours. I've been there are different times of the day and night Sometimes it's open and sometimes it's not. It's usually always open during the busy times around mid morning rush, lunch, and dinner hour.

Much of the produce is locally grown, or locally adjacent (AKA California) OK, Bananas do not grow in the Great Basin. The origin of the produce is identified. They work with local farmers, bakeries, and other local businesses for the food and non-food items. They no longer have the upstairs restaurant but they do have a kitchen and make ready to go items. I love picking up a fresh salad (some with meat some purely vegan/vegetarian) , a yummy very generously filled wrap, house made cookies and other delectable treats. They have a large selection of locally produced meats. Lots of organic canned goods, dairy and non-dairy items . . . the list goes on. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Memberships are available (20$/year) with a once a month 10% off of your total purchase. You do NOT need a membership to shop here. It's small and a bit cramped but there is a lot of good stuff there. It's clean and friendly and completely locally owned.

Anna assists me almost every time I visit, and she is a absolute joy. She always has a genuine smile on her face and possesses the best attitude. Honestly, it's some of the best customer service I've ever experienced anywhere. She consistently turns a routine grocery trip into a great day. Unfortunately, my experience at the deli counter recently was the exact opposite. I went to order a sandwich and, as a first-timer, didn't realize there was a paper form I needed to fill out first. I stood waiting for assistance, and a staff member named Teri walked up, mumbled something, and immediately started to walk away. Because I couldn't hear her, I politely asked her to repeat herself. Teri responded with an incredibly dismissive attitude, acting as though asking for clarification was a major inconvenience. She then repeated, "You need to fill out the paper," speaking very condescendingly, as if I were unable to understand basic instructions. Even after I explained that I had never ordered a sandwich here before and simply didn't know the process, her attitude remained hostile. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and off-putting interaction. If it weren't for Anna completely turning my mood around at checkout per usual, I would have walked out incredibly frustrated. Management has a real gem in Anna, but they desperately need to address the customer service standards and basic courtesy at the deli counter.

Located directly off of S. Virginia St and adjacent to S. Meadows Pkwy in the southern part of Reno, this is one of three locations in the Reno metropolitan area (with the other two stores in north Reno and Sparks). The parking lot is actually quite spacious with ample room to get in and out to the main road. During my visit which was on Friday 7/3/2026 at around 1:30pm, it was fairly busy but the store itself had a great open layout. Those of you that don't know this about WinCo Foods is that they are a private employee-owned company. Prices are probably the best you will find anywhere other than Costco but here you won't get the massive crowds that Costco experiences on any given day. Keep in mind that WinCo only accepts cash, debit cards, and Apple Pay/Google Pay as they do not take credit cards of any kind. Also, you must bag your own groceries but this is their trademark to all of their locations in the western United States. I do want to add that since this is the state of Nevada, this WinCo actually has a small dedicated area (towards the front) where slot machines are available. This is great for those that want to avoid the hustle and bustle of going to an actual casino. In addition to that, they also have an area where alcohol is sold, a customer service area (where you can buy cigarettes, money orders, money transfers, payroll check cashing, and much more). Public restrooms are also available towards the front area of the supermarket. As for the store itself, much of the produce (fruit/veggies) was very fresh and well stocked. They also carry a huge assortment of bulk foods (nuts, rice, pasta, flour, candy, etc.). an amazing variety of meat & poultry, a dedicated bakery and deli section, and just about everything else you can think of. I find their selection to be much better than other big box grocery stores as this place always carries what I am looking for. Best of all, they are open 24 hours. When I made all my purchases, I went to the self check-out aisle (as they accept cash, debit, or tap-to-pay). The whole process was seamless and easy. All in all, the south Reno "WinCo Foods" gets a respectable four-star rating.

From specialty flours, grains, spices, and dried fruits to candies, nuts, baking ingredients, and snacks, the selection is impressive. Whether you're stocking a pantry, running a small bakery, or simply buying exactly the amount you need, the bulk department offers both variety and affordability that few competitors can match. The store itself was well stocked, clean, and easy to navigate, and the prices consistently remind you why so many shoppers make WinCo their first stop. The only downside? The checkout lines. All of this while providing full-time positions and livable wages with benefits too. Winco proves it! In the 20+ years that I've been a Winco customer, I've always been treated well which is a phenomenal track record that some jerk has ruined. Why Linda, why? She was covering the service desk and I came in to return a defective item. As I approached the desk, she was looking me up and down with a very strange expression. So because of this, I wasn't affable but I definitely wasn't rude. I cut to the chase of why I was there. She treated me VERY badly which I ignored for the most part, stating that in all of the years that I've shopped at Winco I've never been treated so poorly. She responded by saying that I was the problem and invited me to call the corporate office! Then she said aggressively, "I've had three horrible customers in one day!" repeating it a few times. I asked to speak to a manager and she quipped that he was busy and he couldn't get away so I asked someone else to page him for me and she interfered with that page, telling them to cancel it. This is a brand new store and everyone else is amazing which is what I'm used to. I wrote this shortly after the store first opened and haven't had an unpleasant experience since and I shop here weekly. I also have not seen Linda. It's a great store with great employees and low prices. I'll keep buying whatever they have that I need from Winco. This store is my first go to store.
