The sloth-like movement of the bartender who approached us about 10 mins into sitting down and said she'd be right back to serve us. After about 20 minutes later we decided to peel out, no drink in hand or belly. After looking around to possibly play darts we quickly realized there was a platter of lukewarm food out in front of the dartboards making them nearly impossible to enjoy. This is a hidden gem. I've seen it when shopping at the Mexican grocery store in the same shopping center. It looks uninviting from the outside (which the owner should do something to make it look like you want to go there), but the inside is great. I never would have imagined that the inside looks that nice considering the plain view from the outside. it is definitely a great little dive bar to meet up with friends or just to go have some drinks. Bartenders are very friendly and great drink prices. My wife and I will be going back again. read more

I come here every now and again. It all depends on which bartender you get. I saw some heavier set lady bartender harass this girl who was there for a dart tournament because she tried to bring in outside food. Thought that was lame, as they don't even serve food here. Every bar I've ever been to, especially those that don't serve food, could care less when paying customers bring in outside food. There's this Mexican dude bartender who is super cool tho, also these two younger gal bartenders--one brunette and one strawberry blonde. Great place for sports. I had the best night last night here at walnut room. The bartender girl was absolutely amazing!!!! She always had a smile on her face and made sure everybody was taken care of. I've been here a couple times, and she is the reason why I keep coming back. It seems to be that she brings a lot of people into that bar. The good ole Nut Room!! This used to be a Jarhead bar back when El Toro Marine base was still around, you can even see the old unit stickers on the mirrorred wall. Pretty chill place, decent jukebox, nice workers, a lil dark not bright which is my preference and they serve popcorn and pickled eggs!!!! Wow, I've always liked the Walnut Room for that neighborhood feel. Don't want to sound cliched but a Cheers feel is what I'm talking about. I work nearby and have come during the day, after work and on the weekends.....any time of the day is a fun time of day at WR. I understand that they've gotten a new owner and so far I'm super impressed. It looks like they'll be keeping the things I've loved....great beers on tap, great service (the employees are awesome) and a dart game if I'm feeling so inclined. They're just adding a fresh new feel. The new owners obviously have previous experience in owning bars because of the things they're paying attention to moving forward. Fresh and cool looking upgrades and I've heard they're getting a wine license for even that much more variety. What's not to love? I love watching it happen and can't wait for it to be complete. read more

Went here on a Saturday night. EMPTY. It was 10:30 and there were literally 7 people in here. Cash only. There was some entertainment if we had been interested to stay long enough - pinball machine, darts and pool (only room for one table, super small place). The music on the juke box was hoooorrible. But what was worse was that it was silent for about the first 5 minutes we were in there. Kinda eerie. The only redeeming quality this place had was the bartender. She was a doll.
