Hostess was welcoming. food was great. manager was attentive and waitress checked often. happy to have a good restaurant close by.

Great Views (once the bridge work is done)! This is a great location for the growing Hwy 41 area. We went for a birthday happy hour with about 10 people. The appetizers we got were all very good. Our server was a little slow and didn't know as much as she probably should have for specials but I think she was fairly new (or I hope so). She was very friendly other wise. Would definitely like to go back and have dinner soon. read more

Bartender inside was good. Had our first beer inside waiting for a table to open up outside because the weather was perfect for sitting outside. Once we sat outside we were never approached by a server so we left. As we were walking away the manager went to our table probably thinking that we dined and dashed but we had already cashed out with the bartender. My Wife and I went there tonight. The food was spot on. I had the shrimp fettuccine that looked at first, like it wasn't going to be enough. But I was mistaken. It was more than plenty and out of this world awesome tasting. My Wife had the ahi tuna tacos and needed a second napkin. Yes I capitalize my Wife because I love her and she's important to me. She loved her dish as well. What a nice atmosphere to boot. We played games before our meal and had a lovely time. Last date night before our 8 year old comes home from Grandpas. I was really looking forward to finally trying the Wando River Grill on a beautiful spring evening. What an absolutely horrible experience! We walk in and there are numerous open tables outside and inside, the hostess gives us a buzzer and says "there is a 15 minute hold" so we say no problem, we will wait. We walk to the bar to get a drink to take outside while we wait and enjoy the beautiful evening. There are two bar tenders tonight (4.27.2018) one female and one male. They are mildly busy but it's not overwhelming. I politely wait, wait and wait... the male bartender doesn't acknowledge me or my husband not even a polite "welcome I'll be with you in a second..." complete disregard.... I dig deep for patience and wait more until after 20 minutes of standing there I throw up my hands up in disbelief. Also, we still had not been buzzed for a table and I could not even summon a beverage for me or my family. It's really unfortunate because the location could be lovely for a nice restaurant but this place is pathetic. read more

Thank you and congrats for getting your act together! We used to be regulars but food was so bad, we just couldn't keep going. It's been close to a year since we visited but I saw that new chef and GM were there so decided to try again. The beer cheese and pretzels were excellent and shaved ribeye was also very tasty. Had high hopes for this place, since we passed it several times. Real pretty place right on the water overlooking the boats but that's about all they have is looks. Here on a Thursday night was looking to have a nice fish dinner being that it's on the water and other than some fried fish they do not have anything to offer no broil or grilled fish at all. The Ms. Got a burger that seemed pretty decent but the fries were very cold, I got what was supposedly a chop salad which tasted okay but nothing special either. Small menu...kind of bar foody but probably won't be back. Server was friendly, but...trying to find something nice to say. I just don't know, just disappointed. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! After a 50 hour plus work week we took our kids here at 5:50PM on a Friday night. We beat the regular dinner crowd, saw at least four open tables, yet were told we would have to wait to be seated because they were "all reserved". We approached the bar to get a drink. After ten minutes of being ignored I took the kids outside. My wife came out fifteen minutes later to announce she was still being ignored by the annoyed-looking bar tender...some around her were served, others were ignored too. After 25 minutes we checked back in and the four tables were still empty and we overheard the hostess telling another annoyed couple the same thing...the tables were "all reserved". We left. Subsequently we heard that a rich ex-lawyer bought the place as a hobby and could care less if he gets business or not. If that's true it all make sense. read more

Brought a group of 8 for supper. Walked up at 9:45 and the door states hours are until 11pm. Waited for a hostess to seat us. We never got seated and someone came out and told us the kitchen was shut down. Everyone except for the bartender was rude. We would've easily spent a couple hundred dollars but no one gave us the time of the day. Needless to say we will not be back. Best of luck Wando River Grill. If you can't stay open in the middle of the summer why be open at all.... read more

I took two of my friends here for lunch on June 19. It was a beautiful day and we were seated immediately. First let me say that the hostess was not wearing a mask nor gloves. None of the employees were. The tables were sanitized per the sign that was sitting on them. I don't know about the menu. The two stars are there for the beautiful view that we had sitting on the Wando river. We ordered three appetizers as it was a late lunch and we didn't want a lot. My friend and I ordered buffalo oysters and my other friend ordered grouper bites. From the time we sat down to the time the meal was delivered was 50 minutes. The oysters were definitely not breaded there. They tasted like the buffalo sauce was poured over them and then microwaved. There was so much buffalo sauce I could could only taste the oyster in one bite. The Oysters were a little bigger than the size of quarters and they were served on a bed of lettuce with some blue cheese crumbles. I might say the blue cheese was the best part of this meal. My friend said that her grouper bites were very dry although tasty. Our bill came to $41. I had heard that Wando River Grill had changed since the opening and the food was very good. I was giving it a second chance. Second chances are over. Go for a lovely view, nor food or service. read more

Wow food was really bad! Crispy flounder was really fishy and had no glaze or anything, just dry fish I also think it wasn't a legal size (super small). Grits were very watery and tasted like instant oatmeal!! The gouda mac and cheese was very bland with a hint of gouda!! You can't charge these kind of prices for food this bad. Actually, it wouldn't matter if it were half price, it still would not be worth it. Justin, our server was good, the view was awesome and the beer was cold! Trying so hard to like this place, but they are not earning our business. Sat night, place was pretty quiet, music inside way too loud ( self regulate!), ordered drinks and app, and after 20 min we received both. Table next to us was struggling with their delivered order which wasn't right, so that became awkward. Servers continually apologize, but this place doesn't improve. We want to make this a steady spot, but there are too many others in Mt P that work harder and care more about improving. read more

This is a train wreck of a restaurant that could be fantastic. The location is beautiful along the Wando River. But the service. Beyond disastrous. Walked into the half-empty restaurant on a Saturday night and waited ten minutes for the hostess to even greet us. I ordered fried chicken. Twenty-five minutes later they came out and said their fryer was down and I had to order something else. Ordered the rib-eye and waited 20 minutes for that - 45 minutes total to get my second choice on top of the 10 minute wait for a hostess. And then there was an unleashed pit bull-like dog wandering through the restaurant begging at tables and freaking people out. You can't make this stuff up. They did comp the entire meal, drinks and all, and gave us a $50 gift certificate. But you can't be successful giving away dinner. They need to hire a professional manager who knows how to run a restaurant. Stay away until they get committed to better service or expect hours (and stray dogs) for an OK meal. read more

This could have been a five star review. Location and atmosphere were great. Food was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, it took about an hour and a half to get our food. The server complained several times about the kitchen. She eventually had the manager come over to chat with us and she gave us 30% off our food. An earlier response would have helped because we were just sitting there wondering... even bringing us out an appetizer while we were waiting. We will come back to this restaurant because of all the positives and the food was soooo good. They haven't been open long so they may just need time to sort out the kitchen issues. read more

We were excited to have something so close to us and looked forward to a very good experience. Our server was fabulous, the view is fabulous, but...I do have to agree that it is downtown prices with food that barely met average ( and no local seafood stated for a restaurant on the Wando...eeek). I was very disappointed. Our meal without alcohol or appetizers was $80.00 before tip with selection and quality of a $30.00 meal at best. My husband and I may return for drinks on an evening out, but I see nothing else to draw me back for dinner unless something drastically changed. Such a shame, always want local businesses to succeed. read more

Thought the place would be as good as the view. It wasn't. We had the crab and shrimp dip. Couldn't tell which was which or if was mixed in together. Dinner came out 4 minutes after the dip. Kitchen needs to time delivery better. For dinner we both had the shrimp basket. It was the saltiest food I have ever eaten. I literally ate one shrimp out of the 10 nice sized shrimp. Could be a great place. Great view, friendly staff. This area is in need of a place like this. But, it took way too long to get our food, salads no less. Our kids were done, with their meals and with their patience, before we got our meals. Ended up getting it to go. The salads, which were over $10, were smaller than a side salad. The Caesar salad was dry greens with a bunch of croutons and a couple sprinkles of cheese. The house salad was just a small bowl of sprigs, no other veggies. Very disappointed. I wrote a review in July but visited this establishment again with 3 other couples for a few liquid refreshments and appetizers. We requested a table for 8 outside since it was such a beautiful late afternoon. The hostess set things up rather quickly while we place a drink order at the bar inside. We went to our table and a few minutes later the server came out and took our order for appetizers. This is where the problems started. The appetizers arrived in a bit of a late fashion. There were no napkins, silverware, or plates. One of our party members went inside to get these crucial items. Where was our server? The seafood dips outweighed the small amount of pita bread. Our drinks were empty. Where is our server. Now the table is getting upset with the lousy service. Finally, he shows but doesn't return for 7-8 minutes. The place isn't crowded. We look inside and see several of the servers sitting in the back of the dining room eating, talking and laughing. Not good as we're paying customers. We're fed up and settle up promising each other we shall not return. All this is to be blamed on the on duty manager. The appetizers were ok but the drinks are overpriced. The service is absolutely terrible. This was my 2nd trip for food. This is my last. The management needs to take a hard look at their absence of customer service. read more
