We received a great slick looking flyer in the mail. My wife memorized it and then asked if we could order from the menu. I volunteered to pick it up since it's only like a mile from us. We ordered from the Chef's special H6 Triple Delight for my wife and the H17 Jalapeno Triple for me. The Pros: Very large portions, food was hot, and the dinner contents were as advertised. The egg rolls were large. The negatives: The very worst Fried Rice we have ever had. We had better Chinese Fried Rice in Nigeria and Benin West Africa. Go figure. It was bland rice that was not fried or have any vegetables. The shrimps were very gummy. My wife's plate was overall bland and mine had lots of sliced jalapenos which without it the rest was also bland. The service was very friendly and the price was $43. I ordered tofu and vegetables, which the menu listed as spicy, but it had absolutely no flavor--not even mild. There wasn't a single traditional Chinese vegetable in the dish; instead it was mostly carrots, celery, and zucchini, all overcooked and mushy. The fried rice was also disappointing. The order came very quickly, and was very hot, which is unusual compared to the typical experience With delivery services. The difference must be that the restaurant delivers its own food. Drove all the way from Dallas to Houston and got there pretty late at night around 9:00. We were very hungry, which was understandable. We yelped to see if there was a decent restaurant near our hotel in the Galleria area. Nothing fancy. We decided to try a nearby Chinese restaurant. We just wanted to get something quick since it already passed our regular dinner time. We got there and quickly ordered a couple of dishes: beef and mixed vegetables and mapo tofu. We also added a mixed vegetable soup, which came very quickly. The soup looked plain, but was tasty. Since it was a vegetable soup, we didn't expect it to be too rich or strong. I could taste a hint of Chinese mushroom flavor in the soup base. The vegetables (zucchini, green peas, broccoli, mushrooms, etc) in the soup were quite fresh though. The fried noodles that came with the soup were crunchy. See the picture I took. The main dishes came soon after the soup. They looked quite pleasing to the eye. The mapo tufo was very delicious. It was not too spicy, but a bit on the salty and sweet side. We eat very spicy food, so it may be spicy enough for most of you :) The beef and vegetables dish was great. The meat was well-seasoned and tender. The green bell pepper and union made the dish looked so appetizing. The portion was quite generous. We felt very very full after all the food was consumed. I have to say the waitress was very friendly and attentive. We did have a good conversation about Houston in general since we hadn't been to this city for a long time. It was so late, so we were the only two souls in the restaurant. And we got all her attention! Overall, we enjoyed the food and the dining experience. It should have been called celery chicken with brown sauce. The egg roll was mad decent. The fried rice was good. The prices are really good. I will def go back and try general tso chicken. We had WanFu Cafe delivered tonight and have always enjoyed our past orders, but both of our beef dishes arrived very undercooked tonight. Though I like my steak cooked medium rare, I do not want my Mongolian or sesame beef to be prepared that way. The meat was VERY under cooked to the point I am slightly concerned about eating it, plus the exterior was soggy not the expected crispy delicious outer coating. I am now busting out my wok to finish cooking our dinner which may dry out the sauce but better than food poisoning. The point of ordering delivery is so you don't have to cook so this is a failed mission in that regard. On top of this, the Mongolian beef should be savory and spicy and instead, was completely saturated with overwhelming amounts of onion. Even the General Tso's chicken lacked any heat, besides the few pieces of included peppers, and was cute into overly big chunks without the typical crispy exterior. The egg rolls and strawberry slush were still delicious, which salvages this to a 2 star review. We hadn't ordered from them for a few months, so I am not sure if the food has gone downhill, or they were just having an "off" night but it left us greatly disappointed. I really want to hope it was the latter as we have previously enjoyed every dish and their slushes are still a delicious treat. read more
