I finally came by to try out their mochi. I got a small of Kinako, like peanut powder, to try. $9 came with 6pcs. They were soft and chewy. The mochi is the clear type. It is kind of pricey. The packaging is pretty nice so it would make a good gift. Easy parking. Friendly service. **must eat within 24hrs**

5 PC Matcha Box + Mochi Matcha Strawberry Latte

Warabimochi is such a unique treat, and I'm so excited to have a local spot that makes it fresh! Truthfully, I had never heard of it before, and my only experiences with mochi have been a) rice flour with red bean and b) ice cream. Traditional mochi isn't much my taste, but turns out warabimochi is! I got the 5 pc box in the Matcha flavor ($9.50), as well as the Mochi Strawberry Matcha Latte ($7.25). The price of the box is a bit high, but it is so worth it! The matcha is plentiful and the mochi itself is sizable. I ate half the day I got it, and had the rest the next day in a cup of milk mixed with the leftover matcha powder. The separate brown sugar syrup (kuromitsu) lets you adjust the sweetness to your preferred level. So good! However, the drink fell flat for me. It tasted like a standard strawberry matcha, but the size is on the smaller side. The selling point was the included mochi, but it was difficult to discern. Overall, it wasn't anything special, and I think spending a few dollars more to get a 5pc box is a better value. Inside, there's a couple of large tables and high chair seating. I would personally recommend taking your treats to go, as all the powder could get messy without having a small plate or bowl to eat off of. You could just eat out of the box, but if you're sharing, or just want to make sure no loose powder falls, transferring to a plate is helpful. In regards to service, there is room for improvement. I had to clarify my order a few times, and it still ended up being partially incorrect. Unfortunately, I was in a time crunch so I couldn't stay to get it fixed. It also seemed like the staff had trouble explaining what warabimochi was to the customers who were asking questions. Maybe posting some informational signs throughout the space would help? This place is still relatively new, so some kinks are to be expected. Hopefully as time goes on, service gets smoother.

I actually didn't like this at all but I'm going to rate it really good cause I'm an educated hater so please read on. This place has the strongest matcha my tongue has ever touched. It's great if you love matcha and you're a matcha purist. For me, it's too bitter and I should've gotten the non-matcha mochi. Overall though, the dessert is stellar and the mochi itself is so delectable it deserves a good review even though I couldn't eat the mochi! You definitely have to try it if you like matcha!

No open seats inside so walked to chipotle to eat.

Excited to try this place out since it was hyped on Instagram. I got the 5 pc mochi box; kinako ($8.50) and matcha ($9.80). Also got a mochi starberry matcha latte ($7.75) but with almond milk (+$1). With tax and tip, I paid over $35. Mochis were good. Kinako was my favorite between matcha and kinako. Also cheaper too. The mochis are large. Hard to break them into smaller pieces. Wish they can do 10 small pieces rather than 5 large pieces. My friends all agreed as well as a different friend who went previously. I super disappointed into the strawberry matcha drink. The one i got was supposed to be more thicker or foamier or something. It tastes watered down, I barely taste the matcha. They gotta add more matcha or something. Only the strawberry was sweet and not the rest of the drink. Overall it was bland. I really love the interior tho. Menu is easy to read. Disappointed that several items on the menu are "Coming soon". I can't wait to try out the ice cream. Seatings are very limited, we ended up eating outside of chipotle. If they can add some small table and chairs outside, that would be amazing! The lights inside keep flickering occasionally, which was weird. Overall the mochis are good but overpriced. I don't think drinks are great. But excited about their upcoming new items!

Came here specifically for the mochi and it did not disappoint! Crazy texture! Super soft and chewy yet surprisingly the inside melts in the mouth. Originally thought I didn't need to add the brown sugar sauce because it was already at a good sweet level but adding it made the matcha/brown sugar combo unique. I like how generous the matcha powder was left after finishing the mochi. I was able to make a matcha smoothie the next day with it :D Overall cute spot and easy parking. Only wish they had more tables to sit down. Def interested in coming back to try the other mochi flavors!

Love the interior design, the whole place is super cute, clean and inviting! They were so quick to make my drink too. Mochi and matcha is a combo I never knew I needed, but now I'm OBSESSED. I'm usually not a big fan of brown sugar, but their brown sugar-based mochi matcha completely changed my mind. Had me slurping my matcha until the very last drop haha Such a unique combo and SO good. Will definitely be coming back!

Why Warabimochi Kamakura? - DAILY fresh made mochi - Famous for its silky, melt-in-your-mouth texture, boxes of pieces dusted in sweet toasted soybean flour (kinako) or matcha Food 5/5 PICKS - Strawberry matcha latte 4.5/5 it's the mochi inside that makes it super unique - Warabimochi kinako 5/5 - use the kuromitsu (rich black sugar syrup) to continuous coat the mochi when eating it Parking 5/5 Easy parking with shared shopping plaza next to HomeGoods Service 4/5 Friendly service no issues Ambience 4/5 Clean and never any issues Note:   - Pure bracken starch can cost 20 to 35 times more than common starches like tapioca or potato hence the price tag - Warabimochi is different from regular mochi because it contains no rice, has a jelly-like texture,

I'm not really sure what it is I bought, but I'm always up for trying new things. I was next door buying a Boba and saw the sign for this place. I was intrigued on what Kamakura was so I went in to check it out. It seems this place is new so the staff seemed a little all over the place. When I asked what it was, I didn't get a really good response besides it is like Mochi and slightly sweet. I figured I'd give it a try since I like Mochi. Well I wasn't super impressed with the results. It has some weird powder on it, not sure what it is. The texture is like mochi but much much softer. It wasn't very sweet but they give you this small bottle of something to dribble on top. I had no idea what it was so I asked before I left. One of the staff members said it tasted like a brown sugar glaze. Not sure I would come back to get more, but it was an interesting experience. I'm sure there are individuals that love it and know what it is, that are super excited they opened in the area. For me it won't be some place I need to go back to get more.

Located off Crenshaw Bl in Torrance. Inside the Torrance Crossroads plaza. It's next door to Boba Hi. This place has a few tables to sit at. They have mochi boxes, matcha drinks, lemonades and other drinks. I got the mochi strawberry matcha latte it was very good if you like mochi this addition to the matcha and strawberry are very good. I liked the gooey texture along mixed with the strawberry and matcha it worked. The staff were nice and service was pretty fast as well. Overall I recommend this place especially for mochi lovers. I really like the mochi vs boba or jelly but that is my opinion and liking.

So yummy! The drinks are decadent and the Michigan so soft. Service was meticulous and the room was so cute!

Mochi Hojicha cloud, mochi strawberry matcha latte, matcha warabimochi, kinako warabimochi
    Stephanie H.

Came here around 3pm on a Saturday and the line wasn't too bad. We got the mochi hojicha cloud, mochi strawberry matcha latte, and the matcha warabimochi. Our friends let us try their kinako warabimochi. The hojicha cloud was pretty good. The hojicha was quite sweet and the taste wasn't very strong. I think they make their cloud with whole milk and hojicha and blend it together, so the hojicha is already pretty diluted. The mochi pieces were also very small and at first I thought I didn't get any haha. I'd give this drink a 6/10 because I wanted a stronger hojicha flavor, will definitely have to try the regular latte tho to compare. My friend got the mochi strawberry matcha latte. The flavor wasn't very strong good and he had a lot of mochi in his drink, maybe because he got a large while I got a medium. 8/10. The matcha mochi was delicious. It was a bit bitter from the matcha powder, but the mochi came with a small bottle of this brown sugar syrup that went super well with the mochi, 8/10. Our friends let us try their kinako warabimochi. I loved the nutty flavor, and the flavor was stronger than the matcha one, 9/10. Next time I'd rather get the kinako over the matcha mochi. The price of the drinks was quite a lot for what it was, but I think the mochi was very reasonably priced. The store is very small with a few standing tables you can put your food on. The store is in a plaza so there's plenty of parking, and it's right next to homegoods so you can shop there while waiting!

I came opening day 7/17 but in the afternoon. There is a line but the wait wasn't too bad. I waited 30-40 mins total. I got 2 drinks: Mochi strawberry matcha latte: The matcha is pretty good. I got it regular sweet and I was worried it would be too sweet but it's actually perfect. It wasn't super sweet to me (but I do have a sweet tooth). The matcha flavor isn't super strong though. Mochi Hojicha cloud: This drink was sweeter. A lot sweeter than the matcha actually but I didn't mind it. I actually loved this drink more than the matcha. I think it's a little more unique. The difference between cloud and latte is that cloud has a cream top with milk vs latte is just the milk. That's what it appears to be. The medium size drink is a bit small so you can upgrade to the large but I do think prices are on the higher side for a matcha drink. Black sesame warabimochi: Super soft and nutty flavor. Very unique. Would recommend sharing with friends because 5 pieces is very filling! Overall, it's delicious and would recommend a trip!

Location: in the same plaza as Home Goods and Home Depot! Menu: mochi boxes and teas. Coming soon items include variety boxes and soft serve. The mochi boxes are only available for one flavor per box. Experience: super popular at the moment! Prepare for a wait. The line went out the door. I think 15-20 minutes wait if you see the line out the door a bit. Mochi: we ordered the black sesame box and the matcha box. Turns out they accidentally gave us the kinoko matcha instead of matcha. Drink: we got the hojicha cloud. The standard sweetness is at 50%. That is already sweet enough! We ordered it with less whipped cream but funny enough, they gave it to us without any. In the end, that was fine since we found it sweet as it was. Overall: honestlyyyyyyy I'd give it a 3/5 but since the quality of everything was good, I'll bump it to a 4/5. Surprisingly, everything was just super sweet for our liking. Plus, they made mistakes on our order.

You can tell they put a lot of effort into their food and drinks. As for the ambiance, it's perfect for those who want to hang out and catch up with friends/family or to study. When I visited, there were easily 5 other groups and individuals studying here. I have a big soft spot for banana flavored items. A BIG SOFT SPOT. Banana Cream Pie Latte - this one carries the biggest punch for banana lovers. Banana cream the entire way from start to finish. Not too sweet. Awesome foam top too. I highly recommend drinking these without the straw. Foam top drinks are best appreciated when you get a nice 50:50 ratio of the foam and drink. Banana Matcha Latte - the name speaks for itself. It's a nice mixture of both. So if you're looking to feel a little healthier with the matcha element, then go for it. This was probably the prettiest drink of the 3 that we had. Americano - delicious and got the job done here. I naturally enjoy Ethiopian and Colombian beans. I brew them often at home. I was definitely wide awake after these drinks lol Strawberrynana Waffle - If you LOVE belgian-style waffles like me, then you'll find yourself ordering this again and again. It wasn't too sweet but sweet enough to easily go through 2 or 3 of these plates if you're crazy enough. Banana Walnut Honey Bread - the best for last! I really loved eating brick toast growing up. There were so many stores back in the day that sold them, and now I can't find them as easily. In fact, Caffe Bene is the only place in the South Bay that I know that sells them. I have gone with a few people many times and our favorites are: the Spanish latte, Mexican Chai, Chai Latte, and Mocha Latte. The Spanish latte is especially good, and the Chai latte is the best I have had in my life it's so well made. The Mexican Chai I can only describe as a cinnamon heaven with the best Chai base flavor ever. The Mocha latte is heavy in the best way possible, it's super strong and I love it. The best part I think for all the drinks is the baristas do not hold back on the coffee, and you always get your moneys worth. None of it is water down, and it's such a great pick me up. I can't really speak on the Matcha cause no one in my group has tried it since we aren't really big Matcha enjoyers. But I have been told that the strawberry Matcha is transcendent and absolutely fantastic. They have a bunch of Matcha flavor options as well, which would be amazing if I was a Matcha connoisseur, but unfortunately, I'm not . So I can't really speak well on that yet, but have only told fantastic things about it. The workers are all kind and work really fast so you get your drinks really quickly even though the line is pretty long. I will say the best time to go and get drinks is around in the morning when they open around 7:30 on the weekends. Again I have to restate wait is always 100% worth it for the amazing quality drinks you will get. I also forgot to mention the fact, you can customize your drinks to have different types of milk and they also have a bunch of other vegan food options as well. I think this is amazing even though my group doesn't really get those options, because I've been told even when people change out the milk, it taste the exact same, which I think is absolutely incredible. (Side note I may update this when I take a photo next time I go because I always forget to before I put on the top on and start drinking ) The experience is great. The drinks are absolutely incredible and the workers are very nice and very helpful.5/5 stars
