New menu. Yes they're back open after renovations!
    Lauren H.

I know I know I know it's always the regulars who say it's great, but it's true! There's a Christmas party happening right now and it's super busy and loud but the service is still great. Hot food, cold beer, and no long waits. I love a place that still gives water without asking. They treat every customer like they're important. Other bars could take a lesson from Warren's staff. I got my usual fish tacos with perch and Italian beef egg rolls. It's always more than enough I take some home. Thank you Warren's for another great visit!

    Whip It Good

We stopped by on a Monday afternoon and the place was absolutely empty. We accidentally went through the back door and had to double check with the person working to make sure they were open since it was so empty. Eventually one other group of guys came to sit at the bar but it still seemed very slow. We started with the whipped feta appetizer. Honestly, it was a big disappointment. It was basically a melty soup with mediocre pita bread. I was expecting something more whipped or spreadable. For my meal I had the kale salad with added chicken which was 10x better than the appetizer. The salad was giant and filling and fresh and flavorful!

    Crab poppers

Crab poppers had a little kick to it. But didn't taste much of the crab. Underneath are arugula and pineapple which were delicious. Had the short ribs grill cheese and it came with a side of tomato soup for dipping. It was very good and had lots of meat and cheese in every bite. We went with a big group, so beware on the bill they automatically had added gratuity 22% and credit card service charge fee (starting to see credit card service charges at every restaurant).

Lunch before a visit to the Hokusai exhibit at COD.

We had a scheduled visit to the MAC @ COD and saw that Warren's Ale house was just 5 minutes away. Earlier this year I missed meeting some friends there for some friendship, so it was on my mind. Got there just after noon on a Thursday. Great decision for a casual lunch. Got seated right away, hot outside but comfy cool inside. Had some time reviewing the menus, one for drinks another for food. We ordered up some draft beers and then decided what we were going to eat. I got the Warren burger with bacon and fries. My daughter got the beef egg roll. Both of our meals were prepared perfectly and pretty quickly. Our server was great also, checking on us and attentive. This was a great casual lunch. It fit our time frame for Hokusai at the MAC. If you get a chance to go there, you won't be disappointed.

Stopped in for a drink and something to eat. Bartenders were very nice food was good.

    Son's kids meal.

We began the day at Morton Arboretum. Rather than eat there we opted to try a new place in the greater area. I searched for a bar/grill and Warren's Ale House popped up. I tried a turkey sandwich. Hubby had the shrimp tacos. Friend had the short tribe grilled cheese. Son had the kids cheeseburger. I really liked my sandwich. Hubby's shrimp tacos were excellent. Friend liked his grilled cheese and the beer he ordered. Son's kids cheeseburger looked good and it came with a side of applesauce and a lollipop for dessert. All the adults rated their meals/experience a 4/5. We would all return.

    Avocado Bruschetta

Tried this restaurant recently for dinner. We started off with Egg rolls, Pierogi and Avocado Bruschetta. The food was fresh and delicious. We then had a burger which was great in taste as well. You can never go wrong here. The food quality is always consistent here. The ambiance is great. The server was super attentive. As it's located in the plaza there is plenty of parking.

Their menu offers Mac n cheese, Gourmet Burgers,Wraps,Sandwiches and Salads. I had the NWB Burger which was an 8 oz burger topped with pork belly, cheese curds, whiskey bbq sauce on a pretzel bun. Absolutely delicious! My wife had The Gobbler (GF) with a Turkey burger, avocado, goat cheese, roasted red pepper sauce on a GF bun. She loved it and they only charged an extra 1.00 for the GF bun. THE USUAL SUSPECTS…read more This dive bar in Lisle is a haven for townies, which is certainly a vibe. Maple Ave Pub is, unsurprisingly, on Maple Ave just west of Route 53 in the western suburbs of Chicago. I'd estimate I've stopped here close to a dozen times, although a handful of those instances I neglected to check-in on Yelp for fear of my wife seeing it ("I thought you were coming straight home from work....") An older woman's been behind the counter seemingly every time, taking drink orders and making small talk. She's friendly--moreso with the locals than with me--and I'll occasionally get called 'hun', 'sweetie', etc, which is endearing. I got way better service from the hot tattooed barkeeps at Brauer House in Lombard, however. To be perfectly honest, I've never eaten anything here. The wings look like they might pass muster, though there's a few items that raise an eyebrow (clam chowder at a dive bar? thanks, I'll pass). Possum Pub in Melrose Park had surprisingly good food, and it was a major dive, so perhaps I ought to give the grub here a shot sometime. They have several pool tables, a Big Buck Hunter, Golden Tee, dart board, boxing machine, and pair of pinball machines; as of 6/19/24 they've got a Star Trek premium (Stern, 2013) and JAWS (Stern, 2024). In the past they had Oktoberfest (American Pinball, 2018), Fish Tales (Williams, 1992), and a stunning Circus Voltaire (Bally, 1997). Last week, the A/C wasn't working so this place was SWELTERING on one of the hottest days of the year. Normally I stick around for a couple pints and 2-3 games of pinball, but it was so toasty inside (worse than outside) I only played 1 game and skipped the beer completely. There were no fans on, either. * TL;DR * Dive bars are all well and good, but maybe it's time I found a new spot to hit up for a cheap domestic pint. Over the years I've gotten a handful of looks that can be described as quizzical at best, and dirty at worst. I've been ignored by the bartender numerous times--with cash in hand, mind you--while she's chatting away with regulars, as I'm standing there absolutely parched. I want to like Maple Ave Pub, but the feeling doesn't seem mutual. If it weren't for the pinball tables, I probably wouldn't return.

And we did make sure to order it crispy like it said to and it wasn't. Looked like it was a little browned but even my young son said the fat isn't rendered. I think it would have been a lot better if it had been crispy like in other pictures on here. Disappointed. It's like $35. Not cheap. The beef with sauce (sauerbraten) was good, the sauce great, the beef ok. The special that was going on, the beef roulade. Nobody liked it at all. The stuff just didn't taste good together in it. Overall, it was a good experience. The waitress Rosie was amazing, most of the food was great to awesome. The ambiance was German and cozy. Our favorites: the curry wurst sauce, the saurkraut and red cabbage and the stuffed cabbage rolls.
