Warren's is a truly honest and fair auto shop. I brought my Toyota to them to have the rear struts replaced as well as the front axle boots-- they gave me very fair prices and talked me through the exact price breakdown (the price of the pieces vs the price of labor). I had originally brought my vehicle to a Toyota dealership, and they quoted me a price that was almost 3X more expensive. Warren and his employees were extremely kind, welcoming, accommodating, and fast with their repairs. I had my car back by the next day (Toyota was going to take 4 days)! I did not feel like anyone at Warren's was trying to trick me or make me pay for unnecessary repairs. Most importantly, I felt like Warren's respected me. They explained everything to me and never tried to confuse me with jargon. I also asked for a very specific brand/type of struts and Warren's made sure to order and install these for me. My car is driving beautifully, and I will definitely be going back to them for any other repairs in the future! read more

This place is as good as the other reviews say. Warren is a great guy - friendly and helpful. I had a minor problem that my old license plate was stuck because the mounts were broken. He cut off the broken mountings and got some nuts and bolts to serve as the new mount and put on my new plates. And all this for no charge because he said it wasn't that much trouble to do. Wow. Definitely won't hesitate to go back when I have car work to be done in the future. I called Warren's Shell Service looking to buy jumper cables. Instead, Warren asked me if I needed a jump and wanted to borrow his battery charger for free. Seriously! This man doesn't know me from Eve, and is offering to let me borrow his equipment at no cost?! Incredible. I walk over later in the day to pick it up, and when I express slight apprehension about using the equipment correctly, Warren actually has one of his mechanics drive me home and jump it for me. I must have offered to pay them 10 times, but Warren refused. Unbelievable service for someone who wasn't even paying. What a great guy! read more

It ended up taking me a bit longer than I would have liked to get our car to Warren, but I finally got it to the shop this morning. They said they couldn't work on it until Monday, but that I could leave it until then, which was great of them. Later, one of his technicians/mechanics Matt called and gave me the verdict. The problem was worse than they had originally thought and the cost was major. (Warren would later tell me it was one of the craziest things they'd seen and that the car was still driving "by the grace of God"). He also included a somewhat long list of other minor issues that would eventually need to be dealt with by the end of spring, but I never felt like they were trying to force me to have anything else done. Given how we use the car, the age, mileage, and the cost of the damage, we're actually going to invest in a newer used car instead. Warren was completely encouraging and offered to do a full inspection of whatever car we end up with. He also didn't charge us for anything and told me to pick it up at my convenience. I recommend this place so much, based on knowledge and customer service alone!! read more

Wow, these guys are wonderful. I came in today to get my tires changed from winter to summer, to find that my summer tires were too worn out to put on. While they gave me the option to purchase new tires, they didn't push me or get annoyed when I told them I needed to think about it (I was not expecting to spend 500 dollars today, unfortunately). I took my 2015 Ford Fiesta in after a screw punctured and flattened my tire, thinking I'd be spending three-figures on a new tire, labor, and the tire disposal fee. Warren saved the day - first of all, being open on Sunday from 11-5 is a life saver. THANK YOU. When our car died on Mother's Day, the tow truck carried our car in at 4:50pm on a Sunday night and without blinking, we were told that it would be taken care of. Warren and his team are professional and good guys. They changed my oil relatively quickly and did their free inspection. They found some issues with the car and gave me quotes, but with no pressure to buy. The estimates were fairly high in my opinion though, and being a college student, I was hoping they would have walked me through some cheaper options. But when I called back on another tire deal I was given, they were honest and told me that I should take that deal cause they would not be able to get close to the price I gave them. I went to Warren's shop to get my oil changed because I'm an Evanston resident and his shop was nearby and plus I had a coupon. For backstory, I'm actually a Shell terminal employee near O'Hare and work daily with the gas that gets delivered to stations like Warren's around Chicagoland and I was wearing a Shell cap. So I just called to try and get an oil change. Disappointed that the guy on the phone is gonna charge me 50$ to change the oil even though he hasn't even seen the car. For about 2 weeks, I have been trying to sell my car, but to no avail. I am a college student, and I guess, at this age, not many people have sold cars before. I am clueless about where to begin, what to do, and how I should price my cars. Talk about a valuable college education. My friends recommended that I visit Warren. Even though I only went in for a $19.99 oil change (ask Warren for the special deal), he gave me valuable advise about a somewhat complicated situation over my car and how much it can probably go for. Remember, this was the first time I met Warren, and already he was so friendly, jovial, and helpful. It's a travesty that I will be graduating from Northwestern so soon. It's hard to find a good mechanic but Warren's is great. They're fast with oil changes and other repairs. Once they finished my oil change before I had a chance to finish my shopping at Trader Joe's next door. I love that they call when they finish so you don't have to (some mechanics "forget"). The work is high quality and they don't pressure you into additional repairs. Prices seem fair. Just a low key place with efficient, skilled mechanics, which is what I want in my repair shop. read more

I went to Warren's Shell Service when the heat stopped working in my car, and only cold air was blowing (in January). Warren picked up the phone when I called, told me to come by right away, gave me a sense of what the issue might be, and said we'd chat about when I got there. He immediately asked me to pull around, took a quick look at a few different things, and said it looked like just a lack of coolant. He was extremely personable, very helpful, and only charged me for a gallon of coolant ($20) even though he worked with me for 15-20 minutes. Simply put, I trust Warren to fix my car and to treat me right. For a mechanic, this is almost unheard of. Warren and his team are AMAZING. I took my car to him recently because of a grinding noise after it being transported from California. He quickly diagnosed the problem, called me and updated me, and was incredibly helpful and understanding of my situation. He also recommended I get new tires, and was great explaining the options and the best choice. What did he recommend? The tires that got the best reviews on ConsumerReports and a few other sites. When I got to the station, I saw that these were the same tires he used. He quickly fixed the grinding issue, and gave me tips on how to check on it myself. Things are running perfectly a week later. And finally, I just like Warren as a person. He's nice, and the kind of person you want to do business with. I appreciate this a lot, and will gladly take my car to him again. read more

I'm so glad I found a garage that's nearby and trustworthy. I pulled into the Shell the other evening when my car started making a horrible screeching sound. The garage was closed so I left the car there overnight. Warren called at 9am the next morning saying that he fixed the problem already (a bent backing plate... who knew?), recommended a few other minor repairs but wasn't pushy about anything. These guys are great! Don't be deterred by the Shell Station. Warren, who has been there for 21 years is super friendly, patient, and honest. I did my research before I went in on pricing and once he verified that I was telling the truth, he matched the competitor's and then took an extra $100 off. I ended up paying almost half what he originally quoted me and my brakes have never been better. I've gone back twice since then and they do free evaluations, which is great! 1) Do your homework beforehand 2) Warren won't intentionally scam you, he's very patient and explains everything, and goes out of his way to get the parts you want as fast as possible. He did tons of research to make sure he did everything as affordably as possible. 3) Honda Mechanics/Dealerships will charge twice as much! This please is WONDERFUL, AWESOME and unlike even the supposed "best of the best" Evanston, Illinois mechanics, these guys are great. We thought we had a rear brake problem according to GM, probably a front brake defect. GM fixed and partially paid for the front brakes, struts, rotors, pads. We brought the car to Warren's Shell for follow up to fix rear brakes, and they are FINE! We need a new battery and front tires, had a minor steering column issue, nothing to stop us from making our planned road trip. This place rocks. read more

Found them on yelp when I needed my flat fixed. Went in today (Sunday) they took care of me right away so I had time to get my oil changed, as well as the complete inspection. Very knowledgable and great customer service. I didn't get the mechanics name but he was fast and thorough, and the young man minding the front was very courteous while tending to the station and providing Full Service to those who prefer it. This is the first mechanic I've ever been to where I've not felt pressured into doing things to my car. Warren remembered me from my initial phone call and offered a ride home since it was a busy day for the shop. My visit was just for an oil change and to figure out why my wipers weren't working, but he didn't charge me to check it out and when he inspected my 1998 Jeep (and found a full-page list of things that need work) he gave me the top three things he recommended fixing but was very candid about what was worth it and did not pressure me at all. I usually hate going in even just for an oil change because mechanics will always "find things" to fix. Warren told me (and better, showed me!) that he's willing to help as much as he can to get the last few miles out of my Jeep. So glad I found this place! read more

So I didn't technically take my car in for any services, but Warren generously helped me when I was in a jam. I came back to my car after a quick trip to Trader Joe's and my car wasn't recognizing the fab. I went next door to see if someone could help. They could have easily said they were busy, but Warren stopped what he was doing to see how he could help. He walked over to check the car out, brought a portable jumper out and replaced the battery in my fab. It ended up being my fab battery and Warren didn't charge me a penny.
