Food was fresh and nice selections but the bar needs more variety of sauces; And some seafood options for people who are totally vegetarian but also don't eat popular meats. The wait staff should let people know that complimentary cookies are served at the end of the meal by them and that you are not to get them yourself. (Lead waiter, embarrassed my friend because he was serving himself) Also, cooks are efficient in their timing of having the food on griddle but they are not too friendly when retrieving or giving back your plate of food. read more

This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I must say it was a good first time experience. For starters, I was amazed at the fact that it was extremely crowded and that we were able to be seated immediately. I also loved the fact that the employees did a great job making sure that we had everything that we needed especially when it came to making sure out glasses still full.without us having to ask. The food was delicious and it was entertaining watching the chefs cook our food on the hibachi grill. The prices are great, the service was great and I was extremely full when I left. Lol. I'm partial to the Greenbrier location but realistically nothing is different other than that... You walk in and are greeted. You order a soup (Eggdrop or Hot & Sour) if you would like it and then go to the topping line when there isn't a big group all up there at the same time. (At least that's my plan when I go). The Hot & Sour is my go to. Get your noodles on (or don't and make it like a stir-fry and add rice later) then add some veggies, the meats (I like crab, beef, and chicken mixed together) and then top off with sauces (I recommend all of them to get the taste right). Usually, you come back to fresh white rice and pocket bread (Idk that's just what I call it). If you are the real MVP you can stuff the noodles and your goodie mix into your pocket bread. Enjoy your food and go up for more, repeat until your heart's content. To top it all off, you get these awesome little white choc and choc chip cookies when you are ready for the check. Bring friends so they call help roll you out of Mongolian Grill heaven. Honestly, I've been to other Mongo grills and Warriors Grill is my personal favorite. This was my first time trying Mongolian. Per boyfriends recommendation he said I would probably enjoy it because it was simple meat and veggies. I did :) The place is really big! Lots of seating. I actually was wondering if it ever got full? But if you have a big family, or a big party, I don't see it being a problem for them to pull however many tables together to accomidate your party. Since this was my first time, I wasnt really sure what to expect. We walked in and were promptly greeted and sat. Our server took our drink order and told us we could go ahead and grab our food. I had my boyfriend go first since I didnt really know what to do. So heres how its set up: You grab a bowl. The first thing next tp the bowls are noodles, and then an array of veggies, then meats, then sauce. So I started loading up my bowl with veggies because, I live for them. My boyfriend goes, "Make sure you save some room for meat!". Oh, yeah! So I moseyed on over to the meat selection. There was white chicken, dark chicken, pork, lamb(what! Nice! I made my boyfriend get that) and beef I think. I was really only interested in the chicken since I was feeling a #Basic. I towered the meat on top of my filled veggie bowl. And then was stopped by the sauces. There were about 10 to choose from. I was in the mood for spicy so I chose the "Chili oil". I grabbed about 3 spoonfuls of that and then the chef said to add some of the basic monogolian sauce, so I did. Once I was done I gave him my bowl and he cooked it. It was cool being able to watch them cook the food. All the really do is put it on this circular hot surface and walk around it with sticks, turning the food as the move. It kept me busy :) Once he was done he gave me my food and we sat down to eat. Our server has brought us a bowl of soup of our choice (Egg drop or Hot and Sour), which I think is part of the dinner option. We also sat down to this sesame bread, which was random, but actually really good with our soup! Once we finished those (and our food was cooled) we were able to enjoy the good stuff. The food was good, my only gripe was that I couldnt taste the heat of the chili oil at ALL. It really just tasted like steamed veggies and meat. I think next time Im going to add wayyyy more sauce and garlic. I like this place because its very basic, so on the days I dont feel like cooking my meat and veggies we can just come here. Oh! You can also go and get however much you want to during dinner. Not sure how lunch is, but after we finished our plate our server asked if we were going to go for round #2. This place definitely exceeded our expectations. Upon walking in, it looks sparse with only one center buffet & grill, so I instantly lowered my expectation. However, this place was awesome. We ordered hot tea - and got a silver pot of Jasmine tea which was delicious. We both received fresh soups, my egg drop was delicious & his sweet & sour was pretty good. A bowl of white rice & some sesame biscuits were also brought to our table while we fixed up bowls for the grill. I was impressed. The selection for thr grill was pretty good, though the only non-red meats present were chicken and imitation crab. Overall, I really enjoyed it and the dinner is unlimited buffet so my husband was pleased. read more

This is what we left with. The reason we would say this is because it doesn't have much flavor to it. And we put the toppings on and also the dressings offered at the end of the bar, but there are no seasonings or salt and pepper offered. The soup was luke warm when brought to us so we never touched it. My friend said her sour soup tasted bad. I just didn't try my egg soup because of the temp. The cook... not so friendly or verbal at all. The waitress was sweet! She was lovely and seemed concerned when my friend told her we didn't like it much. When I'm hungry and I want good healthy food fast and now, this is my go to place. The items to pick from are always fresh and plentiful. I get a half bowl of noodles, lots of shredded carrots, broccoli, and beef or chicken, then I get a scoop of all the marinades, except a half scoop of chili because I don't want it super spicy. You then give it to one of the chefs, who are all super nice, and they put it on the Mongolian grill, they use the authentic sticks used by the Mongolian warriors to walk around the grill and cook your food. It's pretty epic if you think about it. *They have a tip jar, always give them some love, just saying. So if you're hungry and need to eat now, I highly recommend it. read more

After much aimless driving, my friends and I came to this Mongolian BBQ place in a plaza area with some other restaurants. It was fairly empty when we got in there but the set-up was nice and spacious in general. The buffet and cooking area was like any typical place's but the food and service was excellent. First of all, the waitress asked if we wanted egg drop or hot and sour soup. We weren't expecting to get complimentary soup or cookies at the end of the meal. The soup was actually pretty good. We also got sesame bread which were quite awesome. They weren't flat like crackers or fluffy like bread. They were slightly similar to poofed-up flatbread and since hardly anyone had any, I snagged most of them! The awesome thing about Mongolian BBQ that is self-serve is arranging the bowls for yourself in a smart way. Bali Hai had taught me to line my bowl with meat before adding vegetables and noodles. However, since this was all you could eat (a Mongolian BBQ AYCE place!), the strategy wasn't needed. I still piled on a lot of food and watched them cook up the meal. This restaurant had a good array of sauces, and I trusted the cook to add what he thought would be good. I liked my plate a lot and at the end of it all, the cashier allowed us to split it 8 ways. Great Mongolian barbecue! This is my family's favorite place to grab lunch or dinner because it's affordable and you can customize your food very easily. Your meal is served with a choice of soup [the egg drop soup is pretty decent!], rice, and sesame flatbread. The flatbread is very tasty; it's light, airy, with a slight chew. Love love love this bread. For your main meal, you load up veggies and meats in a bowl with flavored waters, and it's cooked right in front of you. The veggies at the bar are always fresh. Nice selections of meats, I never have complaints about the beef or chicken. The food is cooked very quick on the hot grill; sometimes the veggies can burn and taste bitter, and if you don't add enough flavored water, the flavors can be very subtle. I actually like it not super salty and over seasoned, but I can see how some diners could interpret their meal as bland. So definitely load up on those flavored waters [the garlic water and Mongolian special are good go-tos]. Overall, a top notch restaurant! Our waitresses have always been very friendly and attentive. The food is of good quality, and since the Mongolian barbecue is unlimited, you will surely get a bang for your buck. read more

I love Mongolian BBQ. Thankfully, there are many places in Hampton Roads to get it. Warrior's Grill is one of my favorites. What make's it stand out from the others? It's very clean inside. I love that the buffet line has Purell on it. They have a side salad area on the buffet, too, which is nice. That makes for a lot of food. Especially when you consider they serve you delicious bite-sized cookies after the meal. Mainly it's the cleanliness and quiet atmosphere that stand out. For more of a dessert spread, you'll want to hit up DW's further east on Laskin Road. The service at Warrior's Grill is quick and pleasant. It's usually not too crowded, so you don't feel like your going to a trough or anything. The price is comparable to the other Mongolian places. The only downside: make sure everyone in your party is okay with Mongolian BBQ because there's no menu of other items (except for kids' chicken nuggets and such). read more

You have 2 Mongolian BBQ choices very close together, Warrior's Grill and DW's Grill about a mile away. I prefer Warrior's because even though it is simpler and cheaper it is still plenty of great food. DW's is all inclusive, with unlimited trips to the grill, more protein selections, a sushi buffet, ice cream machine, and larger salad bar. But it's about twice the price if you're going for Lunch! At Warrior's Grill the lunch special (M-F, 11:30-3:30) is one bowl at the grill, soup, rice, bread, and a very basic salad bar for $8. That is a ton of food. No reason to pay more if you're primarily looking for the Mongolian BBQ part of the meal and it's a weekday. Unlimited trips for $10 if you're really hungry. Unlimited lunch on the weekends for $10. Unlimited dinner everyday for $12. They also have a location in Chesapeake near Sam's Club. read more

The service is quick, but it was a lot of looking around to see what to do next since no one explained the rules to us. The servers clean the tables quickly and keep your drinks filled. The all you can eat option is incredibly affordable at $12 for dinner on a Friday night. Definitely do a single scoop of every sauce, even if that "oyster sauce" option sounds weird to you. I add extra lemon water & chili oil. The noodles are good, but I started getting fewer noodles and more of an array of meat and veggies to utilize the rice. There are many options for vegetables and meat, but imitation crab was the only seafood option I spotted. There's also a salad bar to whip up your salad while you wait for your noodles/order to finish cooking. It felt disrespectful.... but instead of getting upset, I took my plate and sat back and watched the next 10-15 people he cooked for... and he handed them their plate. I am a black female... the only one he served while I was here. I sure hope that wasn't the reason he was disrespectful. Went here for a friends birthday party. It is like a buffet, but with a smaller food selection. You pay one price and you can eat as much as you like. I thought this was a pretty cool concept because we don't see a lot of restaurants that are dedicated to just cooking on a big circle pan in front of everyone - and to just having a small selection of food for a "all you can eat." When you are first seated, they take your drink order right away and ask if you want soup. You also get complimentary sesame bread that are pretty good. After that, you can get up and get your food. When we went, there were only two cooks. So beware that at times the line might be long and you'll have to wait like 10 minutes to get all your ingredients, then another 3-5 minutes for your food to be cooked. **The thing that I don't like about this place is that they don't have a big selection of food for you to choose from. Honestly, it would probably be cheaper if I just went to the grocery store and bought my own ingredients and cooked up some lo-mein myself. In the morning I saw that this place was the best Mongolian grill in town so I made my way over there for lunch a couple of hours later. It sits in a pretty nice little strip mall and looks nice from the outside. Walking in I was greeted with all the charm of a Village Inn with the bulk sale tables and vinyl chairs that say you're not that interested in decor. This may or may not bother you, I'm just noting it. I was taken aback by being offered a choice of soup in addition to a choice of drink. I had to ask twice what the waitress was asking me. I then made my way up to the paltry fixins bar. Not a whole lot of selection, certainly not what I expect from a proper Mongolian Grill. Then I got to the meat selection portion and was really taken aback by the dog chewies there disguised as beef, pork, white meat chicken and dark meat chicken. I was completely unprepared for the meat being frozen. I got past it. Then I got to the sauces which consisted of 5 or so flavored waters, a wine and a couple of proper sauces, certainly not as many options as I would expect. I dumped what seemed like a lot of the hot sauce that they had on my pile of dog treats and veggies and a couple of scoops of the wine and Mongolian sauce and handed my bowl to the chef. The chef turned my pile of frozen doggie treats into an overcooked hash of shoe leather and flavorless zucchini. Now, perhaps, it is true that if you don't like your creation at a Mongolian grill, it's your own fault. Maybe in repeat visits I can get the saucing down to a science as other reviewers seem to have done. But, it doesn't change the fact that the meat was cooked to such a point it's next state of existence would have been ash. I don't want to be a hater, maybe I just had a bad experience. But, I'm going to mark them down for the non-existence of sriracha in the restaurant. A little bit of sriracha would have gone a long way towards giving my undersauced and underseasoned overcooked meat a little more palatable. Also, I love rice and the rice just wasn't that great either. The egg drop soup and little sesame pancake things were pretty good though. Also, it was pretty cheap and I'm pretty sure I'll end up giving it another shot when I have the urge for the bold flavors of a Mongolian grill. I just hope to get the bold flavors next time and some meat with a bit of moisture. read more

I love this place because it's close, it's quick, it's very affordable and it's always fresh. In fact, I would eat here a couple of times a week, but I have to convince someone to go with me. Tips for first timers...smush, smush, smush. It looks like you have a ton in your bowl, but when it's cooked, it shrinks. All the veggies are light and make a huge pile rather quickly, but if you smush between items then you'll get the perfect mix of everything. Also, add your own sauces. Don't listen to the guys cooking who tell you that you need one scoop of each. Listen to me, particularly if you like it hot and spicy. Two scoops garlic, three scoops sesame oil, two scoops garlic water, two or three scoops Mongolian Special and three scoops of hot pepper oil, one of which should be strained to add the crushed peppers. read more

Our group of six was promptly seated at lunch. $8 per person before tip and taxes = one tiny soup (hot and sour or egg drop), one Lo Mein noodle bowl with your choice of proteins (white or dark chicken, pork, or beef slices) and vegetables, one small side salad and as many bread with sesame seeds as you would like. The delectable breads with sesame seeds were served lukewarm on the table. You can only get one main bowl for $8. The content is cooked on an oiled stone in front of you. Then, your cooked meal is put on a plate. It is an open kitchen concept. One person in the group complained his clothes were smelling oil by the end of the meal. Half of the group had meat and veggies only. By not putting the Lo Mein noodles (carbs) in their bowl, they were still hungry. Thus, they ate a lot of bread with sesame seeds. You will customized your small salad at the clean salad bar. There was a selection of fresh and canned vegetables. The food was bland, despite trying the oyster and ginger sauces. We paid at the counter. Free mints were offered there. Bathrooms were clean and without changing tables for babies. It was free and easy to park. The service was efficient and friendly. read more

I went here for my birthday after my first idea for dinner didn't pan out (too crowded). After driving around, my bf, our friend and I came across this Warriors Grill. I remembered how I enjoyed my experience at the Greenbrier location, so we decided to try this location out. This WG is waaaaay different than the Greenbrier WG in the worst way. It was dimly lit and the Asian woman (who I will call "Dragon Lady" from here on out) led us to a booth. Our server came by to take our soup/drink orders and was really chatty. So far, so good. I decided to get a grown-up beverage since it was my birthday... I ordered a fruity drink, thinking I wouldn't taste any alcohol... The Dragon Lady ended up making my drink, despite the fact that our server was a former bartender at a well-known family restaurant (IMO, she should've just stayed there). She bad mouthed the way the Dragon Lady made the drink... Who puts an umbrella toothpick in a straw?? (BTW... The drink tasted like pure gasoline... Blech!!) The food was decent... Can't go wrong when you're basically making up your own meal. While I was waiting for my food to be cooked, our waitress was clearing out the salad bar. She informed me that she couldn't stand some of her co-workers. I've had some really awful jobs, but I have never openly talked about my disdain with customers. As my party was finishing up, we witnessed a little tiff between Dragon Lady, our server and another server. It was pretty uncomfortable. The Dragon Lady left for the night after that, which was strange because I thought managers/owners were supposed to stay til close of business. After eating regularly at a Hu Hot in Colorado, I've probably become a bit spoiled when it comes to Mongolian grills, but since there are kind of limited options in Va Beach for vegetarians, this is a goo place to visit for something that isn't fried or in the pizza family.
