Food was good and the waitress was refilling drinks like a champion. Left her a pretty good tip and we got everything we wanted.

First of all the food was AWFUL nothing was good and there were no good options for picky eaters or people with different taste buds they just had types of undercooked meat and 2 options for pasta which were both nasty the only good thing good there was the banana pudding but I didnt even feel safe eating that. The vibes were TERRIBLE so everything I looked at I could feel strangers breath on my meals right before I even took a bite. The staff was EXTREMELY RUDE the girl who checked up out was the worst we were confused cause we thought there was someone in line in front of us when she called "next in line" only once she called again and rolled her eyes deliberately at us in a rude tone. There was one staff member who was polite and kind and very prompt at her job and making sure we were good I will say that is the only best thing this bullshit buffet had to offer. read more

Best Golden Corral Ever. I've got the rewards app , so I'm constantly getting free meals. Every time you go in, you have to swipe your app to get points . The food is kept stocked and hot. Honestly, my favorite is all of the beans and fried chicken and chicken livers. My husband on the other hand likes the fried fish , ribs , collards. We both agree that the pot roast is top notch. If I'm trying to be healthy and good, I'd love to hit the salad bar or the soup. lots of great desserts.. And then sometimes we go for breakfast. All very good. I'd give this location negative stars if I could. Showed up on August 9 to have breakfast with my husband. Paid and sat down only to discover a large political group having a very loud meeting with speakers using microphones. There had been no warning on the doors or given by the cashier before we paid. You could hear them talking from anywhere at the buffet while you were trying to get your food. This was completely inappropriate and never should've been allowed if they didn't have a closed room to do it in. They definitely should've had warnings up before you paid so you could choose to leave. Additionally, the wait staff was rude and never acknowledged us except to check the receipt initially. Never refilled drinks or even cleared our table. We watched a family come in and try to ask for the large table next to us to be cleared so they could sit down to only be met with attitude and rolled eyes from several of the wait staff. And finally, the food. Yuck. The sad part is how you come into a buffet like this with such low expectations and then this one couldn't even meet those. It's breakfast food for goodness sake. Dinner in Virginia Beach, Virginia... My friend and I couldn't think of what to have for dinner. We browsed through Sam's Club, but nothing was appealing. She suggested Golden Corral - she had taken me here over twenty years ago, before my God daughter was born! Okay! Golden Corral features American Cuisine. Comfort foods such as meatloaf, pot roast, fried chicken, pizza, macaroni and cheese, etc. are the standard dishes. There's also a salad bar (with carrot salad) and a dessert station. I really liked the disposable plastic gloves that were available to all customers. The serving utensils are kept clean! I also liked the staff - they removed used plates efficiently. When we paid at the front, we were given a plate, a straw, and - a knife and fork in a paper bag. We were allowed to choose our seats. Our beverage (water) was brought to us - along with two more clean plates for each of us. Yes - we ate three plates of food! Overall, it was a fun experience and I wouldn't hesitate to return! Note: Milton of Yelp Hawaii reminded me that Coach Riley Wallace of the University of Hawaii Men's Basketball Team would take the team to Golden Corral before a game on the mainland! While I understand, the place can get very busy, the service to our table was very slow and that's crazy considering the only thing we need are drinks. But at least we got them eventually. The real icing on the cake was the food poisoning we got from the breakfast buffet. Our visit was not a good experience. We were given a Gift Card for our 45th Anniversary. We called before we went to verify the amount on the gift card and to be sure we would not have any problems. upon getting to the cashier, who by the way, was not a friendly person at all. Acted like she did not want to be there and not very responsive. We gave her the gift card and then she gave it back to us explaining that the card was not working. I have been in retail for many years, and I can tell you, the machine does not tell you the card is not working. we explained we had just called before hand and had no problems. She ran it through the machine again and again told us it was not working. No other explanation was given and no other assistance was offered. The only bright side to this dinner was our server..Donet. He was very professional and friendly and could not do enough for you, even though they were quite busy. GC should be glad they have people like him and pay attention more to not hire people like the cashier. We had to pay with another source. Golden Corral! An American classic. All you can eat truly gives you a rush. Ya know, it was better than I was expecting. I enjoyed the chicken pot pie and the yeast rolls. Simple but yummy and homey. Lots of meat options, but I'm not a big ribs and beef eater. The pizza was lacking sauce. The fries were soggy. The seafood options were nice. The fried shrimp were crunchy. The cheddar broccoli soup was okay, lacking some cheesy flavor and needs more broccoli. The dessert was nice, lots of cake options. I like that ice cream and cotton candy were options. Service was fast. You seat yourself. Overall, it's truly an American classic that I think everyone should try at least once. read more

We used to go the GC for all kinds of different functions, celebrations, family outing, birthdays and anniversaries etc. Now that most have closed the restaurant on Independence is one the closet to us. I expected to have the same quality as before, the restaurant was clean, seating was good and the wait staff was great. I didn't run into issues until I went to eat my food. The fried chicken had a hard outer coating like it was made days before, and it was dry. The pot roast was also dry almost to the point where it was difficult to chew, I did not finish it, so next came the seasoned collards, which had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever and they were not cooked long enough. The pizza crust was like rubber, the mashed potatoes had no flavor. I think if they are going to serve this "food" they should've just went ahead and closed that one too. read more

We came in (this location a mess from renovating) and the cashier was very slow moving, someone jumped in front of us in line for a to go order to be rang up, so another cashier rang us up. We put our plates on the table and headed for the buffet. Almost all the food was old. We sit back down with our mediocre meals and not one server grabbed our ticket for drinks. We watched 3 servers go to all the other tables but ours. We eventually got our own drinks from the server station after 15 minutes of waiting. My parents decided this is where they wanted to go to dinner tonight. Seniors dinner was $14 and adults were $15 plus $3 each for a drink. The front of house staff was pretty dang slow. The 1 lady on register took forever ringing up a to-go order, meanwhile there is a family in front of ours, and another behind. There were other people milling around... food runners behind the counter with to-go orders, staff on the unused register standing around, a buffet bar sticker speed walking behind register with actual food. It was pretty messy, slow, and poorly run. If you need to tip the waitress/waiter, you have to get cash back at the register, you can't write it on the charge slip. The way it works for the buffet right now is: you get your first plates from the register along with straws and silverware (fork and knife only), then you pick a table and the waitress/waiter will get your drinks, when you're ready for food you take a clean plate and put the disposable blue gloves on (they're everywhere) and get food. It's a decent system and there's a plethora of gloves and plates (that will be brought to your table). Food buffet was all pretty well stocked and there was ample staff filling things up and helping out. They have a great salad bar and the fruit isn't too bad. The grill part is busy with steaks being made, or you can have some ham or turkey carved off for you. There's a big selection, but it's not terribly healthy. Lots of fried foods and processed food, like pizza and macaroni and cheese. I found the mushrooms and broccli somewhat healthy, even though I dumped gravy on them. My salad was pretty good despite the balsamic vinaigrette looking gross over the egg. My only food issue was the fried flounder peice I got was undercooked in the middle. There is also the expected cross-contamination from people being sloppy with serving utensils. I docked a star for the undercooked fish and slow register service. Our senior citizen group of friends/family go there on get togethers like birthdays, etc. Why? One is that the price is inexpensive. Depending on time of day, we can receive a senior citizen discount. The facility is clean. We each can choose whatever we like and as much as we like from an array of choices. Unlike some reviewers, we like the food. Is it sit down restaurant quality? No but it isn't restaurant price either or prepared individually and should not be reviewed compared to them. We have never felt ill afterward (except for eating too much). The servers are pleasant and remove empty plates quickly. So tonight I was DOOR Dashing delivering food to consumers. I walked into Golden Coral and looked where they would have put my Door Dash order at if it was ready. Nobody acknowledged me and I spoke to the cashier and he said he'd look into it. A manager came out, not for me, so I asked Ms.Van about my order. She really didn't want to bother with me. She told me to cancel the order. I said seriously? The guy cashier came up to me and said they are starting on the order. 20 minutes later I finally got my order but I felt I had to force them to do the order. It just baffled me Ms. Van who is a manager would tell me the one delivering DOOR Dash to just cancel the order. It was around 8:11 p.m April 21, 2023. Waitress was polite and on her drink refill game like a pro. Now the food, I'm just going to list what I ate and a brief review. Mac and cheese: mid tier but hit the spot. Mashed potatoes: needed some salt and pepper but that was at the table already. Onion rings: some were a lil cool (old) but dang they were tasty when fresh Meatloaf: good flavor but it was old. Don't go to this Golden Corral. The management really has absolutely NO empathy for customers whatsoever. In a nutshell, I wanted to attend the Veterans Day buffet. I found a GC worker leaving and she offered me her parking spot. From behind me a car pulls up first threatening to rear end me for this spot then gets out of the driver's seat and brandishes a 38 to show his presumed Trumpian might ... for a parking spot! Fortunately his accomplice restrained him back into his car. But on voicing my concern, the assistant and general manager called me "a liar". Whatever you do, if you go for breakfast, for the love of God tip the omelette lady or she will snarl you down (have dollar bills waving), you'll have overcooked eggs and then just sling the plate at you, she needs to go ASAP. Davenport, Iowa area was nice before Covid. Since then, the menu has been cut back drastically. For example, half the salad topping choices are gone. Maaan, compared to the one in Windsor, Colorado- this is just ghetto. The building doesn't seem to be able to accommodate all the bodies crammed in this tiny place. You'll be waiting in the same line for fooD and to get to your seat. Industrial equipment left right near food line. Ever been to a place where you can tell the staff just don't care? This would be it. The food is left out waaayyy too long and so the meat, bread and potato products are all hard and dried out. Things are slopped together in bins and messes in between. The steak is pretty much rare and enter those bathrooms knowing you'll be flushing what others before you left behind. Also, cashier decided to give her manager two weeks notice while completing our payment - super awkward. I feel silly stabbing at my keyboard about a GC because in the words of the prophets Roderick Stewart & Ronald Wood: "I couldn't quote you no Dickens, Shelley or Keats 'Cause it's all been said before Make the best out of the bad, just laugh it off" That about sums up any GC. It's all been said before how at best the offerings are average and how the rest turns your colon spastic and this location fits the mold perfectly. Busy as hell last Sunday afternoon as we happened to come right as a group of 22 pulled up. Thankfully we sat down far away from them because they were loud & obnoxious and left of the buffet looking like a natural disaster had occurred by the fried chicken. I digress. Our drink schlepper was friendly enough and our cups while never runnething over also never rannith dry. In terms of the food the carving station with the ham and turkey was surprisingly very good as both were fresh with good cuts. But to counteract that, everything in the dessert area tasted synthetic/gross and the aforementioned fried chicken area looked ransacked. I swear at home I have never been to my local GC but when on the road it's like the Buffet Muse calls me with her siren song and just like Homer (Simpson maybe) would have done had he ever been to a GC, I beach myself of the rocks on gluttony returning again and again. i actually used to come to GC a TON back in the day cause my brother is obsessed with mashed potatoes and theirs were his fav. Every family dinner, he'd always suggest coming here. but since we're all grown, it's been a WHILE. i actually enjoyed it! i got the steak - and although it was a little salty (as most foods are at buffets) it was pretty good!!! the portions were generous and the cajun sausage was on point! the chocolate fountain always freaks me out -- cause i know kids can be gross and stick their fingers in it and lick it and stick their licked fingers back in for some more. our waitress wasn't the best in service, but the bread made up for it! omg their rolls are my favorite -- especially with that honey butter doeeeeee! Do not waste your money here. This is the bottom of the pit. The food is very poor quality. Most of the food is what I call "Filling" meaning food like rice, potatoes, pasta, stuffing, bread, etc. The rest of the food is what you'll find in a homeless shelter.
