    Spicy Salmon Roll
    Victor A.

Want to start off that food was incredible, everything had a really great flavor and the fish was just so fresh! Service was equally awesome, we came for lunch, got seated and served immediately and food came within minutes! Ambiance was nice, not too loud and had tasteful music playing in the background! Would recommend to anyone wanting a quick bite of sushi in the Livermore area!

Fantastic. Don't normally commute. Traffic was absolutely trash so I dropped in to kill some time. Wise choice. Service was a slam dunk. Quick. Solid recommendations. Beer was life cold. Rolls were fantastic, not over sauced. Not to small not massive. Great value for the menu cost. Very happy to support a small business. This is a hidden gem. Cheers

Was recommended this sushi place by a friend and I'm glad I went. There's not too many known places in Livermore but I would say this is probably a solid sushi place in this area. The service was great, plenty of seating and parking plus the food was good. The fish was fresh with the perfect amount of rice and sauce. Would definitely come here again!

Assorted Nigiri Mix (10 piece omakase)

Great Japanese restaurant and sushi bar, located in strip mall in Livermore! Great value for sushi and dinner menu options. I recommend their mixed nigiri sushi (omakase) 10 pieces for $34, which includes miso soup and salad. We also tried their sashimi and tempura dinner, which includes salad and miso soup. They provide the option of sashimi (maguro, salmon, or hamachi), which was very fresh and delicious.

They fried the halibut body in our large sashimi platter

We ordered the large sashimi plate for 4-6 people. It came with rice, soup, salad, and vegetable tempura. Fish was fresh and the 4 of us were satisfied and full. The fried halibut at the end was a nice treat. For desert we had banana tempura. The restaurant was nice and clean. Nothing fancy but more modern. Service was fast and prompt, but staff was polite but not so jovial.

Sakura Roll ! Yummy and my personal favorite
    Jenn E.

The restaurant is very clean. Service was minimal, not very warm and inviting. Food was delicious except for the 49er roll. Will not get again. Recommend the sakura roll and the toro sashimi. Also the garlic edamame.

Decent service without too much bothering or less attentive. Nice food with accurate seasoning. Thumbs up without any complaints.

My go to sushi spot! I love everything the chefs are amazing and the service with staff is always very welcoming. The ambiance is wonderful I tend to see a lot of families and couples go here. Wonderful spot for dinner or lunch.

Budget friendly sushi place. Tempura- very good especially the pumpkin and sweet potato ones. Soft shell crab - good but too doughy, imo Kama - a little dried. Not sure because if they used Kampachi instead of Hamachi, or just overcooked. We did ordered Hamachi Kama though. Sashimi - decent portion for the price.

    Toro Nigiri

I came to eat here last Wednesday for my birthday and i'm still dreaming about the sashimi! We got a 12 piece sashimi with an assortment of salmon and tuna. The slices are very thick and come with a bowl of rice that you can eat with. We also ordered two rolls - spicy salmon special and dragon roll. They were the perfect size, very generous portion of meat, and super delicious! I like that we were also given miso soup and a salad to start. We also had an order of bluefin nigiri which was so yummy and fatty!! Hands down a hidden gem in livermore!! I will definitely come back!

Great food! The wasabi salad is a great deal. The service was quick, the place is clean, and the staff were nice and friendly

I live 30 minutes away but never been here. Came for lunch on a weekday and it was worth the stop. Ordered one of the sashimi salads and the fish was very fresh and was very tasty with the bit of sauce/ dressing. I especially liked the micro greens, cucumber and carrots that added a crunch. On a bed of salad and topped with seaweed. Perfect balance of flavors. I also liked that there were other kinds of sashimi salad. Variety of items will make everyone in my family happy. Waitress was efficient and the service was quick as I didn't have a lot of time to linger. They got me in and out quickly and I appreciated it-I didn't even have to mention I was hoping for something quick. They had lunch specials that I'll have to try next time. We will be back with the family

Dinner Bento Box w/ Hamachi Sashimi and Beef Teriyaki ~ $24.95
    Jean S.

Wasabi Bistro is an excellent Japanese restaurant in Livermore. The restaurant is within walking from the Doubletree Livermore. We came for dinner on a weekday and were seated right away. The restaurant was clean, but busy. I ordered the dinner bento with hamachi sashimi and beef teriyaki. The bento also comes with rice, miso soup, side salad, and edamame. The food was absolutely delicious! There were 6 pieces of hamachi sashimi and it was fresh and tasty. The beef teriyaki was tender and delicious. I enjoyed all of the sides - miso soup, salad, edamame, even the rice. I would definitely order this again. I also tried some of the tempura, which was really good. They are generous with portions, which is a huge plus! The staff were friendly and service was good. Wasabi Bistro is great Japanese restaurant

The shortrib had a very distinct flavor that didn't agree with our party. The paella was decent nothing mind blowing and the seabass was ok. The ambiance is cute with a small closed off glass area of wine and two seater table inside! Our waitress Dominique was amazing. She was able to give great recommendations for wines and food. She also made us feel taken cared of and was friendly/warm. The food is a mix of mexican/euro/american so there were a lot of different options. Here are the things we got: Appetizers - Parm crusted cauliflower: so good, nice and crunchy but not too heavily breaded. The chipotle mayo was delish - Chicharrones: so light and crispy! They were hot out of the fryer. It had a side of a corn cheese dip that was so good and made it more unique of a dish -- must try if you even kind of eat chicharrones. I don't generally like pork skin but I enjoyed it regardless. - Hamachi ceviche: this is a large sharing portion with chunks of hamachi and avocado. Good but not a must have. Entrees - Enchiladas: very cheesy and overall a good dish but I would skip this. - Shrimp tostadas: large size shrimp and it just comes with two tostadas so I don't think it was worth the price - Barramundi fillet: The fish was tender and juicy. I liked the marinades that came with it. I liked this dish with the rice because it made me feel homey. Good portion of fish. - Agua Chile Ribeye: This is a must have! The ribeye is sous vide so it was soo tender and juicy. The broth was really nice to keep everything moist and flavorful. Because we were celebrating a birthday, Dominique made a dessert with a nice special touch. Will definitely be back again!

Unfortunately, the food experience didn't live up to the service. Charging extra for chips and salsa at what is essentially a Mexican restaurant (even if it's branded as "Southwestern") was disappointing, especially when the salsa portion was so small. Chips and salsa are such a staple that it felt out of place to pay extra for them. The biggest issue, though, was the tortillas. They weren't heated, which made them feel dry and mealy and they fell apart while eating the tacos. The steak itself was flavorful, but the tortillas made it difficult to enjoy what could have been a really good dish. I genuinely hope they make a few adjustments because the people there were fantastic, the drinks were excellent, and this place has a lot of potential.

Every now and then, my wife and I still make the pilgrimage to Sai's to see our friends and enjoy a meal. This night we ordered: Asparagus Prawns - 5 - When the ingredients are fresh and you know what you're doing, the resulting dishes will be delicious. My wife is particular about her asparagus, too skinny is not acceptable. It has to be medium to fat, and of course, not woody. I'm more particular about my prawns. I can't stand overcooked seafood! Bitter Melon Chicken - 5 - Bitter Melon can be soaked in water to remove some of the bitterness before cooking. Then you want to cook it so it's no longer crunchy but not so much that it's mushy. Sai's always does a great job with it when it's in season. Oyster Pancakes - 4 - A slight downgrade because of the size of the oysters. Maybe I'm simply greedy but I want more! On the other hand, the egg was well seasoned, tasty and not overcooked. Sesame Balls - 5 - These were fried a little darker than usual but that just makes the sesame flavor pop! A great way to finish off a meal here at Sai's.

Many of the best places are not fancy or expensive and I was not disappointed. This place is like the proverbial hole in the wall, but clean and tidy, spick and span kind of place. There is a decent size menu of items, combos of fish (cod), prawns, calamari, clams, oysters and chicken. They also have sides, extras, drinks including beer and wine. I got the #4, 2-pc fish and chips for $12.40. Their prices must have dropped than what is shown online. Sales tax in Livermore, Dublin and Pleasanton is 10.25%. My order was cooked fresh. The fish is dipped in a cornstarch batter. After a few minutes, I heard the timer go off when it was done. A paper lined basket was brought to my table on a tray with malt vinegar, tartar sauce and catsup. It looked very good and golden brown. The taste test was awesome. light, crunchy and flakey fish, very yummy and no taste or smell of oil or any reside. It was perfect. The malt vinegar and tartar sauce not too tangy went very well with the fish. I ended up eating everything, nothing was left. The value is the 3-pc fish and fries, I think was just $15.50, but the 2-pc was just enough for me. Next time, I will try the calamari and fries. I dont think I need to head to SF, Fishermans Wharf, or Sausalito for good fish and chips. It's right here in Livermore, owned and operated by a husband and wife team. They are very friendly.
