We went back and while the service was good my favorite roll the Mary had a new look and taste. The Mayo was not the same and was not spicy. That is my dish there and because of that I will not be back. My husband said that his roll tasted very seaweedish and he was not a fan anymore either. Maybe just personal preference. I've been here twice now it's a five minute drive from where I work so it's a close location. The service is quick and gives you plenty of time to eat if you have a 1 hour lunch break. Everyone was polite and full of smiles and the food was pretty good. My only quirk would be that the music was a little on the loud side. Okay....so to explain my star rating a little better: Food: 3 stars Service: 1 star This place ended up being close to my workplace as well, so I called on the phone to place an order and drove there to pick it up real quick. No problem. Wasabi is in a shopping center and the parking lot is a bit confusing. I ended up circling twice because of the way the spaces are placed (hard to describe, but not a big deal). Anyway, I ordered the Tempura Shrimp lunch special. Now, the website doesn't load properly on my work computer (yay for IE 2...so old nothing loads right) so I had to open up the menu on my phone. The lunch special says it's supposed to come with salad AND miso soup AND soda/tea. When I placed the order over the phone, I wasn't asked what kind of drink I wanted, so I figured they'd ask me when I came to pick up my food. When I arrived, the food was already packed in a baggie and I made my payment. I asked if everything was in the bag and I was told yes. When I asked about the drink, I was told it didn't come with one. Since I'd never been here before, I thought I might've read the menu wrong so I didn't question it. Well, going back now, the menu (PDF) still says what I thought it did. Salad AND soup AND drink. What did I get? My tempura entree and a salad. No soup, no drink. Of course, I had already left to go back to work, so I just ate what I had. The tempura is okay, I've had better though. There were 2 shrimp pieces, broccoli tempura, potato tempura, onion tempura, and mushroom tempura. All were fine, just...yeah fine. Not good, not bad. I don't think I'll be coming here again anytime soon just because the food didn't taste all that great. But if I do, then I'll be sure to print out the page I saw that says what exactly comes with the lunch special. AND I'll check the bag too. We came to Wasabi this afternoon for a late lunch. We ordered their Piano Sushi as an appetizer together with a Calamari for starters. I enjoyed my conversation with Adrian their Sushi chef who was very hospitable & catered to our needs. Their Thai Beef Noodle soup was considered best in its class. You have to try it to believe it. Your basic, good, NC sushi place. Quite authentic. Little pricey. Ate here twice on business in Cary, once at the sushi bar, and once take out. I was pleasantly surprised at the good service - especially the piping hot steamed towel - not done everywhere, but always welcome. The selections are relatively expensive, but are large pieces and very fresh. Price is the only reason this place did not get 4 stars from me. It was good enough for me to come back on another trip! The restaurant is in a good retail location in MacGregor Village, across from the Marriott Courtyard. Both times I went it was not at all crowded, and we got right in and served. If you want very good sushi, large pieces, and an authentic Japanese dining experience, it is worth it. Compared to the nearby Oishii, it cannot hold a candle. Oishii is light years better and cheaper. But, if you are in this area, try Wasabi - it wont let you down. read more

Good overall Sushi rolls and they have bogo! Good bogo bargain for sushi rolls. We tried the Victoria's secret, Lover Roll, Sweet 16 and one more. The Sweet 16 was a favorite with tons of flavor. I had my first experience at Wasabi recently and it far surpassed my expectations, since, at first glance, it looks like just another sushi restaurant. It definitely is not! The service is friendly and fast, and the staff is knowledgeable. We tried the spring rolls which were fantastic and beautifully presented. I always get seaweed salad so I decided to try it here as well, and I have to say, it was the best $5 I have ever spent on a seaweed salad. It was a great size portion, delicious, and again, beautifully presented! I got BOGO sushi rolls, which was an incredible value since both of the rolls I tried (Yummy roll & Victorias Secret roll) were beautiful and delicious. I have been to this place a handful of times now, mostly for lunch as it is close to where I work. it is pretty decent, but not my favorite place for sushi. First impressions are positive - clean and well organized, nice view of the sushi prep area, and a comfortable dining area. in my several visits, the service has been hit-or-miss, but unfortunately, more miss. There have been a couple of times that I only saw the waitress when I placed my order and when she brought the check. The sushi is decent. I would recommend sticking to the basic rolls though as the others tend to get a bit pricey without the benefit of any additional quality or quantity of food. Case in point for me was the "Lobster Bomb" - chewy and rubbery while lacking flavor, even the rest of the roll couldn't save it. That said, the basic tuna roll is good, as well as the California rolls and several other on the more basic side. I keep thinking I just need to give these guys another chance, but nowadays I am finding myself wondering if I should check out another sushi joint in the area for lunch. I do love sushi though and will likely be back in a while to see if anything has changed. read more

We order via GrubHub; this was our first time trying this place. The order arrived and it was clear from the bag that something had gone wrong. The first item I took out the bag (Tiger Tear Salad) was a leaking ALL over! I'm not even sure why there was that much "dressing" in the first place! The lettuce was a complete soggy mess. I was worried when I ordered but usually when you order salad they package the lettuce separately. Luckily I had lettuce so it wasn't a complete loss. Also, We didn't get everything we ordered which was sort of a bummer. The food was okay overall. The Tom Kha had mushrooms and two pieces of chicken (and that's no exaggeration) The portion size was very underwhelming which is unusually for a Thai place. This is the absolute best tasting and value sushi in the triangle area! The hero and yummy rolls are my go to and there is something special about their spicy mayo and eel sauce. I swear it is better than anyone else's around. The staff are always extremely sweet and welcoming. Sometimes the wait is a little long on weekends or during the lunch hour but they always have 5+ sushi chefs working their butts off to get the food out. All three sushi roles were mediocre at best, similar to what you would get from the grocery store deli counter. Steamed dumplings were average but not bad. I saw it and my date and I decided to go in. I always remember loving the decor and the food there. Prices are reasonable $17-25 for an entree. Food options are Thai and Japanese. They also have a large fresh sushi bar serving some pretty interesting sashimi and rolls options. The usual suspects here but the chef does offer daily created specials with some weird but interesting sounding options. Sushi is also BOGO. They are large rolls and are from $10-12. I had Thai Spicy Basil with seafood (Shrimp, scallop, octopus, NZ mussels and veggies). Date had Eggplant Hot-pepper. Delicious. Servers are very gracious, and there is always a large Asian contingent of diners so its seems authentic and not gimmicky. Give them a try! read more
