I am disappointed to I ordered a meal from wasabi tonight and they told me the usual 20-25 minute wait time. My dad went to pick it up for me and there was a line out the door, he finally got in to see how long it would be to get the food and they said another half hour. This is not the first time this has happened. We didn't even get the meal. I am Bummed because I enjoy wasabi, but they need to be realistic and honest with wait time for food. Great sushi at reasonable prices. The wait can be excruciating if they are busy, so if the place is packed and you're hungry, be sure to order some appetizers from the kitchen. The kitchen food comes out almost immediately. BYOB and there is a liquor store in the same shopping center. The previously mentioned liquor store has a limited selection of sake however, so plan ahead if have a specific drink in mind. I most enjoy this place at lunch. Best sushi place around! Since it's BYOB, my fiancé and I got a bottle of wine next door and brought it over. Their rolls are so reasonable and fresh! My wife and I tried this tonight and we were very pleased. The atmosphere is very nice...comfortable, modern and well appointed. Don't let the strip shopping center exterior fool you. We had hot and sour soup which was very good. Not too salty and not too spicy, but with a very nice blend of flavors. We ordered a California roll and an east roll from the sushi menu. Both were excellent. The fish was fresh and had a good texture. We were seated at the sushi bar and were treated to a free order of crispy shrimp on a bed of cucumber. Delicious. Finally, we split an order of shrimp with broccoli with brown rice and it too was delicious. It came out hot and with the right texture. The service staff was friendly, prompt and attentive. read more

Great food, awful service! Food is delicious! I've had the vegetable sushi, eggplant in garlic sauce and the tofu lettuce wraps and all were equally as great. The food is prepared well and is of great quality. The only downside I have is the service. Now the guys up front are always nicely greeting you and thanking you while saying goodbye but the waitresses (with the exception of one) are absolutely miserable. I have been working in the restaurant industry for a few years now and I would never act this way towards my customers. The waitresses are miserable, very short when talking with you (almost like they dont want you in there) and never say thank you OR you're welcome when you thank them. The food is so good it's a shame that the treatment from the waitresses can almost ruin the experience. read more

While we have only chosen to order takeout from Wasabi, we have been there 7 times in 7 weeks! My boyfriend and I really appreciate that they are always so willing to wrap our rolls in soy paper as requested. While we have had to wait upon arrival for our takeout, we know it will be a delicious, quality meal so we don't mind. It's always good to see this place packed for dinner with a line for people waiting for their takeout. ..a GREAT sign and testament to excellent food! Our only complaint are the prices...a bit high. This place was such an awesome recent discovery! The interior of the space is pretty hip for a place in the middle of a grogery store strip mall kind of setting and the servers/staff are super friendly. I ordered two sushi rolls and both were delicious. The sweet potato roll was rich, buttery and a little crunchy and the "out of control" roll was packed with delicious, fresh flavors and tons of fish. But perhaps best of all? THEY HAVE BUBBLE TEA! We called ahead and ordered our food (two dinners) at 6:30. We were told that it would be ready at 7:00. My husband got there at 7:00, and he didn't get our dinner until 8:00. When my girlfriend and I visit Wasabi, we usually dine in but lately we've been getting take out. The last time we tried to eat in the restaurant, we arrived 30-45 mins prior to closing time and were told we could not have a table because the restaurant was closing within an hour. I was less than thrilled, to say the least. There is one female waitress who is rude and obviously hates her job but the great food (amazing variety of both chinese & japanese dishes - all are fresh, flavorful, great portion size, and make great leftovers the next day!) overshadow the service-related issues. However, we will not be dining in the restaurant ever again - I will only choose take out from now on. I have never been denied entry to a restaurant with 30-45 minutes remaining until the official closing time. Don't let the service effect the experience - just get take out. The food is very, very good and will taste just as good at home. I'd like to officially rescind my statement in my original review about the service at Wasabi - it has definitely gone downhill. The hostess is always nice but being turned away (see above) was a huge turn off and a big let down for us. We'll still get take out but we won't be eating in. read more

This is a popular Sushi and Japanese and Chinese restaurant. Reservations on weekends is a good idea. The basics of prompt service, consistent high quality food preparation and presentation are done very well. We are not Sushi people and can't comment on their principal offering. For the price, this is the best Asian cuisine in West Chester. Lunch specials $7.95 for two rolls and soup or a salad... awesome! The fried rice is really good - not too greasy. I eat here at least once a week. The place is always busy. I like that. Despite being so busy the service is superb. Most importantly the food is outstanding. Always fresh. My favorite roll is the Monster Roll. The sushi is excellent especially the white tuna. Yum. If you like Chinese get the garlic chicken. It is the best deal price wise. OK experience. The inside decor was a pleasant surprise from the outside. It is nice that is BYOB. We enjoyed our meals but it wasn't anything special as far as Chinese food goes. I'll give it 3 stars for the food. 1 star if you eat it there. Let's just say that West Chester is not known for it's overwhelmingly wonderful ethnic foods, sadly. Finding a tasty Chinese/sushi place wasn't easy, and still not as good as Chinatown in Philly. We have ordered take out many times and the food is just. But, for West Chester area area, it's actually one of the better places. Eating at the restaurant is another story: This place is mostly set up for take out. That means that the place is not focused on a pleasant dining experience. For example, the screaming Vita-Mix blender that is turned on full speed to (read: crushing ice for frozen drinks) is about 20 feet from every table.... and it's VERY LOUD and jarring when you are not expecting it. The sound bounces off the walls and it goes off and on the entire time you are eating. (Could this loud blender be place in the back room? Really, any place but in the small dining area would be great.) The servers are nice but they are helping with the take out orders which are plentiful. The take out area is the focus and you are well aware that people are coming, going and waiting while you eat. I really wish there were other options close by. read more

We went to Wasabi on its opening day and when we walked in....WOW! It was gorgeous. And then it got even better, the food! I got a strawberry smoothie...... mmmmmm. We also got a mango tea [also delicious]. Then we got some sushi to go. It was very fast service. We were also amazed at the price it was really cheap. My boyfriend and I became regular customers of Wasabi over the last few months - enjoyed the sushi immensely. However, we will not go back. I went in for take out, paid the bill with a credit card (I generally do not tip for take out). Found out the next day after checking the bank account that the girl added her own tip (I forgot to put a line indicating no tip). Additionally, the menu indicates that the crab rangoon appetizer has 8 pieces per order. Each time we ordered it, we were only given 6. Lastly, the bad attitude of the waitress we got regularly started to wear on us. read more

The chicken lettuce wraps are nothing like PF Changs, so save your money. Ordinarily this is an above average restaurant with above average food and service. However, I recently ordered take out and when I arrived was told they didnt have my order. Instead of apologizing they asked me what phone number I called, who I spoke to and what time I called. I showed him the record on my cell phone and assured him I had called this establishment. He effectively told me nothing they can do and did I want to reorder the food. Just an overall bad experience.
