This is without question the ONLY place you should eat Chinese in West Chester and the Sushi is equally amazing .......never once had a bad experience here .....I have read some other reviews about bad service and I just don't see it ......we go 4-5 times per month and never see anyone leaving unhappy ..I think some may have issue with the fact that many staff have English as a second language and confuse shyness or uneasiness with verbiage as rushed and unfriendly ......... read more

Amazing is all I can say. I have been to Wasabi twice this week (should probably check my mercury levels) and am going again before week end. This accidental find has quickly become our favorite sushi restaurant yet. BYO to boot! The soups were amazing with great texture and flavor. I've tried their Sweet & Sour and their Miso so far and both were wonderful. I'm embarrassed to admit how much sushi we ordered/consumed...but everything was super fresh and the rolls were packed with fish. We even ordered a 2nd round. We accidentally left our wine bag there - which was the perfect excuse for me to go enjoy a quick lunch when I picked it up. I was not disappointed! As fresh and delicious as I hoped. Tonight I tried Wasabi for the first time. I walked in and ordered an eel avocado roll, a negihamachi roll and 2 pieces of salmon nigiri for take out. I paid and left for a few minutes to stop into another store in the shopping plaza while they made my order. I came back 2 minutes later and sat on their waiting bench with another couple waiting for their take out order. Within just 5 more minutes my order was ready - record time! Now I have to take a minute and talk about what it smells like in Wasabi. The aroma of sushi is abundant! It simply fills the restaurant and smells like heaven. I couldn't believe how delicious it smells in there. I left with my mouth watering and couldn't wait to get home to try out my food. The food did NOT disappoint. I can't remember the last time I've had such good eel. The rice was cooked to perfection and the rolls simply break apart in your mouth like delightful little clouds. Now when I first saw the salmon nigiri I thought to myself that they were smaller than I would have liked but once I took a bite I forgot all about that. The fish was absolutely perfect. It was intensely flavorful, had the appropriate texture and was able to be bit in half on the first try - everything you look for in good fish. I am not a huge fan of the negihamachi roll but that comes down to just preference (my first time trying it), their preparation was spot on and also very tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. I was impressed by the clean, modern decor of the space and the attentiveness of the wait staff. While waiting I saw a waiter who had nothing to do with the food prep notice that my order needed a lid put over it while the cashier was tending to someone else and promply took care of it. I have every intention of returning so I can have the pleasure of a dining experience inside the restaurant and exploring their other menu options. read more

This was my first time at Wasabi after hearing how good it is, but unfortunately I was quite disappointed. I just ordered several appetizers. The Sesame Cold Noodles came out with a large quantity of the peanut butter sauce just globed on top of the noodles. I have eaten this dish in a million different Chinese restaurants for years and years. It is usually mixed in with the noodles when served. I found it annoying and a big mess having to stir it in myself. It was extremely messy to eat that way as well. Next I ordered steamed dumplings that were way too doughy. I have always noticed that thinner dumplings are usually a sign of a quality Chinese restaurant. I was really disappointed in the poor quality, overly heavy dumplings at this supposedly higher quality place. Lastly, my California roll had very little rice around each piece. I had never seen a Sushi roll like that anywhere. Very strange and affected the taste. Oh and the chef forgot to cook my egg roll which they offered to bring me after I had finished eating. I said no thank you and they took it off the bill. I did have perfectly good service otherwise, but will non-the-less not be returning. read more

I fail to understand the high ratings this place receives. Ordered takeout over the weekend consisting of sushi and a couple Chinese dishes. It was average at best. Some of our group thought the Alaska rolls tasted strange. The other rolls were unremarkable. Although the price is cheaper, I'd rather pay more at Kooma for (imho) better product. Will I go back? Probably not. Would I recommend? Only if you don't want to shell out $$$ at Kooma. read more

We haven't been back to Wasabi in over 8 months. Used to go a few times a month. Service was terrible. Just an overall sense of unhappiness among them all. Front desk owner is nice, but has to be able to see the unhappy customers leaving due to the waitress staff. Sushi was good the last time we were there - but prices were also creeping up. The food is excellent. Great food, always well done. The average rating is for the owner/female cashier? Basically the only female on staff. She's borderline rude, mean, and always angry. I come here frequently, and not once has she been pleasant. It's actually reduced the number of times I go, which is unfortunate because the sushi is really good. read more

As other people noted, don't be put off by the strip mall location. This place is sweet. Tasteful decor, although cheesy music. Friendly service. Tried a big bowl of udon and it was great, with fresh tasty tempura. Spring rolls were delicious and presented nicely. Kids had breaded chicken which was 1000x better than PF Changs. And yes there is bubble tea. Support this new restaurant! Next time I will be sure to sample the sushi.... read more

Have ordered take out a half dozen times here over the past two years. The restaurant is extremely busy and crowded and seems to be very popular. Take out? Want something cooked a particular way with particular ingredients? Forget it - the kitchen seems to ignore requests. Ordered vegetable fried rice, extra broccoli, overcooked (soft) with extra sauce. The order came back lightly cooked, no sauce and no broccoli. Rice with scattered peas and carrot fragments. Might as well have ordered plain white rice. Once again the order was tossed out in the back yard for the critters. Judging from the crowd it is probably a great place to eat. As for take out, try somewhere else. read more

Yummmmm. The new restaurant near Giant is delish!!! The decor is lovely, not typical Chinese tacky. The eggplant w/ garlic sauce was perfectly cooked, as was the brown rice, nice texture. My partner said the fish soup was good too. The sauces had their own distinct flavors instead of all tasting the same, which is also typical of Chinese restaurants that are tired. Also liked the chicken lo-mein. Reasonably priced. Opening special 15% off. Woo-hoo. Sushi bar! Service was friendly (owner took our take-out order) and order was presented in a timely manner. Who doesn't love a good BYOB? Though sometimes the service is a little spotty, and the restaurant is on the small side so because it is always busy the noise level is always very high... but its a great place! Both Take out and dine in are highly recommended. They are willing to work with you on what you want, for example they don't have hand rolls on the menu but were happy to make one for one of the girls at our table! I've been to Wasabi a few times before and have to say overall I've been satisfied. They have pretty good rolls and sashimi. Also it's priced at a very reasonable point and the dining area is byob. Great for a low key date night. I can't say I've ever ordered take out before but tonight the experience I had was so bad I'll most likely never return! My boyfriend placed the order when I left work. Then some forty minutes later we arrive hoping to grab it quick and get home. The lady at the counter says it's not ready yet and asks him to pay. We do assuming it will be just a minute. Then some ten minutes pass and we check in again. She's completely rude and dismissive and only THEN admits they didn't even start it!!! Why would you take my money if you didn't even start it. I ask for a refund and she first claims she can't find my receipt. Finally she refunds us but doesn't even say so little as "sorry". Terrible customer service. I'll go to their competitors in West Chester from now on. I don't mind paying more to receive better service. read more

I gave this place one more try (3rd time). I experienced extraordinarily rude service and mediocre sushi the last two visits. This time I walked out even before they completed my order (which is a big deal for me, because I am a sushi hound.) Unbelievably surly service. No greeting. No smile. No conversation. They don't take requests or changes, even as I offered to pay more money for a substitution. It's clear to me that everyone who works here is miserable and could care less about the customer. I'm dubious about some of the high reviews since I've given this place three tries. I suspect this is family owned, the younger kids work front of the house and clearly don't want to be there (the "sushi chef" looked 16). There are much better places in the West Chester area to satisfy your sushi craving (like Fusion and Asuka). Do not do it here. Hopefully in the future this place will get new owners who appreciate the customer. read more

We went to Wasabi and ordered rolls with some soup. The soup never came until I asked for it and the rolls were just made from frozen meat; nothing was fresh. Our daughter was being noisy, as 3 year olds can be sometimes, and just as she was talking the waitress yelled "are you waiting for something else?!" and my reply was "yes, our dinner." I then noticed that people who had come later than us were already finished and getting their checks. We asked for our food and it still didnt arrive so finally I just asked for the check, at which point all of a sudden our food became ready. I told them Id pay for it but we were leaving. Waiting an hour for some Chinese food in a nearly empty restaurant is just rediculous. I tipped them $0.00 which I have only done 2x in my whole life (due to my own years of working in the food industry). It took them a long time to bring my card back, so I could pay, and tonight I found unauthorized charges on my debit card which I reported immediately. Going to this place was a horrible experience. Below average food, rude staff, and now I have to go get a new debit card and dispute charges. ALSO! They added their own $5.00 tip to the check even though I wrote $0.00!! I called TD Bank and West Chester Police tonight. read more
