A bit of a dive looking place from the outside. Inside is what you would expect from a local seafood restaurant. You order at the counter. Self serve drinks. I had the flounder sandwich, fried. It was good. Plenty of food and not too expensive.

This place is truly amazing. I haven't been in years, but the food is still just as good! It's a hidden gem, a small place, but full of heart. The service is always great, and they treat you like family. We ordered a little bit of everything.. snow crab legs, trout, catfish, oysters, a crab cake, soft crab burger, fries, and slaw. Everything was wonderful! The catfish was really good, and the oysters were my favorite. I even ordered some to go. Big thanks to the staff -- Nehemiah, Rowena, Netta, Wayne, and DaQuan. If I forgot anyone, I'm sorry, you all are awesome! Keep up the great work and keep smiling. Your hard work does not go unnoticed!

This local dive was amazing. We ordered shrimp and grits, blue crap dip and soft shell crabs. Everything was amazing. Quick, fresh and so good.

Washington Crab was recommended by the hotel and had good reviews so I decided to check it out. It looks run down on the outside and inside wasn't as clean as I would have liked. Service was friendly and I ordered the flounder and shrimp. I went with it fried but grilled may have been better as this was overfried. I love sweet potato casserole but did not care for this. The fries and hush puppies were fine. I probably wouldn't return here as there are better options.

Food was quite good, the portions were small for the price. The old adage stands true, you get what you pay for. Quality was A+. Service wasn't great but drinks are self serve so it was ok. Food came out quickly. Overall will come back as the food was good! Service and price made this not a 5 star review.

We had a free hotel stay to use before it expired that we'd earned and saw a great review of this restaurant in Our State magazine so decided since we'd never been out this way we'd kill two birds with one stone! My spouse was a little skeptical from the outdoor appearance when she looked on Yelp, but I reminded her it didn't look much different than a place we love in Southport so I booked a hotel and we headed off on an adventure! Upon arrival it did look pretty run down, not like the place I mentioned above, but those reviews couldn't be wrong in Our State, so in we went! I ordered fried shrimp and clams and my spouse fried oysters and scallops. We got our drinks and carefully walked to a table. The was a bunch of water on the floor by the drink machine leading into that room. I later pointed it out to an employee who for whatever reason could only see half of it when he came with a mop. Didn't matter cos wherever it was leaking from it all came back again! There were a lot of seniors who came here and I was concerned for them in particular with the standing water on the floor. Our food arrived and the employee let my spouse know one of her scallops had fallen on the floor so her order was one short and they'd bring it to her. Meanwhile, the scallops they did give her looked burnt, but she said they tasted ok and the oysters were fine. My shrimp was very good and there was a ton of them. The clams were pretty good, but there was hardly any by comparison. The hushpuppies were bland as could be, but the potato salad wasn't bad. My spouse did get her other scallop plus one more and they were not over fried at all. She needed to use the restroom and when asked was told it was outside by the deck area. The door wouldn't close properly and a couple kids walked in on her. When she came back she said, you don't want to use that bathroom! Long story short, I don't think we'd return to find out if their food is hit or miss since we experienced both on our first visit.

Fried scallops, fried oysters, Cole slaw, hush puppies and French fries. So delicious!

Really good food, but I especially like the shrimp tacos with the remoulade sauce. The service is also very good.

Doesn't look like much. But this place is neat inside and out and the seafood is the best in a 75 mile radius around Washington NC

Great seafood and they have different levels of fried so you can get it just how you like it. Recommend medium fried.

Truthfully, how good is this place? I'm coming down there tomorrow and celebrating my wife's birthday. She wants crab for dinner. So... what's the real scoop?…

This place is a hole in the wall. It's good but it's not fancy. If your wife wanted crab for a birthday dinner, this is likely not the place. More of an "out for a Sunday drive and stop by for lunch" vibe.

She was incredibly sweet and attentive. She seemed a little nervous at first, but she did a great job and made us feel very welcome throughout our meal. I ordered the Crispy Rice Tuna Salad, and it was excellent. The tuna was fresh, the combination of textures was fantastic, and the portion was much larger than I expected--I couldn't finish it. I also appreciated that the menu offered a good variety of choices, from lighter dishes to more indulgent options. The restaurant itself has a cozy, eclectic atmosphere with interesting décor that makes it feel like a hidden gem tucked away in downtown Washington. Add in the fact that they're open on Mondays when many nearby restaurants are closed, and Blu becomes an easy recommendation. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in town.

After numerous trips I still can't put my finger on what exactly is done differently at Blu to outperform so many fantastic restaurants. It's as if they have somehow managed the flavors of a Michelin restaurant with plating that isn't so... boring and sterile. Portion sizes are more than adequate, none of that one taste nonsense here. The service is always fantastic, professional and friendly. The owner is occasionally willing to share recipes with you and has never disappointed me with a recommendation. The cocktails? Just "wow". Perhaps what makes this place so fabulous is that they manage to do so well in so many categories. I'll consider that more in depth next time I make a reservation which may just have to be today. Speaking of, if you don't make a reservation, don't be disappointed when you don't have a seat. This isn't a place you can always walk in and sit down. They don't have many tables and it's obvious that they aren't the type of place to sit more people than they can take care of. Take some time, enjoy a drink and one of the best meals you'll have in the area. You won't regret it!

They have a nice selection of cocktails, many of which seem crafted to honor the local vibe. I had a cocktail containing a house distilled gin. Delicious. They also let my husband sample two of the house distilled gins before he ordered a gin and tonic. He was very happy. Kennedy, our friendly, knowledgeable server, brought out complimentary cornbread with brown butter/molasses butter and tomato soup shooters. Yum. They offer two- and three-course price fix menus, and for a few dollars more, you can make it a wine pairing. My husband did that, and I ordered off of the regular menu. His collard green salad was sensational! He couldn't stop raving about it even as he was finishing it up. His second course was filet mignon, and it was the most savory, tasty filet I've ever had!
