Brought my Seiko self-winding diver's watch to be resurrected after it stopped working. It had always gained about five minutes every week and the place I bought it from said that was as good as one can expect from self-winding watches. After W&CC repaired it it keeps PERFECT time. It's become the clock I use to check my other clocks. They're not cheap but they do it right. I just brought in an Omega Seamaster and a Movado for them to work on. If you dont look like you're made of money these people treat you like a bother. I came in looking for the pegs that hold the strap to the bezel not thinking they'd be that expensive, they were $3 each which I had no problem with, but wait! they dont accept cards for any purchases under a certain amount, so i opted to maybe spend more and get a new strap that comes with the pegs instead of go off to find an ATM. The only options were $60 and up. When I asked if they had any less expensive straps, the sales woman's tone shifted into disdain while saying "we only carry high quality leather and high quality accesories" as if I couldn't afford the straps they had. I just didn't want to spend that much for it. I left, and from the looks of things im sure they're equally glad I won't be back. I dont need that kind of crap from an over glorified watch pawn shop. read more

Very nice people here. I had very unpleasant situation in one other store which cause more dmg than good for just change of battery, but not important. I came here and explained situation showing my watch which is not showing good time any more and all other issues caused, they took it in worked on it same day kept it few days to make sure all is working good and all of that for a small fee which was even lees thatn initial store for only batter change. Had a great experience with the very helpful staff at Watch & Clock Center. Our clock inset for our kitchen clock broke. The size was not standard and the staff at W&C went out of there way to research contacting various vendors and finally providing a great replacement for only $25. They certainly spent quite a bit of time for this small sale and it was very appreciated. Will definitely go back. read more

Wasn't the best experience. I went in and was greet my a nicer older man who was interested in helping me repair my watch. But since he wasn't the repair expert he referred me to a woman who laughed and judged me when I told her my watch was a knock off and proceeded to say I should just buy a new one. I explained the sentimental value attached to it but she was still rude. Worst customer service. When we were leaving my friend heard her saying negative things to the older man about the watch I had like "that's why you don't buy a knockoff, what did she expect" Just awful. If you can't be polite don't say anything or be rude. She was also charging me $22 to potentially change a battery and give me a little scrap of metal to hold the wristband. Ridiculous. read more

Got two dead batteries and a fresh new leather wristband with an extra hole punched in done in less than 15 minutes. This place was super quick and efficient. The have a lot of leather band options, unfortunately not a wide variety for smaller wrists but they can punch an extra hole in, as they did for me. I left my fathers watch there to have it resized by adding a couple of links. They called me eight days later telling me it was ready to pick up. When I got there and tried it on, it was a little too big. They removed a link on the spot. This was done for an extremely reasonable price. And they had contacted the watch company to order the links. And while I was waiting the woman that works there noticed that my watch that I was wearing, had moisture under the Crystal. I told her that the Crystal had been replaced by them not too long ago in the past. She took it to the back and five minutes later the moisture had been removed and it was as good as new. I'm so a glad a friend recommended this place! I brought four watches here - a gold/silver GRUEN watch from the 1990's that was father's, and few of my grandfather's watches from the 1940s; a gold BENRUS, a silver and black BULOVA, his WWII Navy watch, which was missing a band. These watches were sitting in a storage box for almost 50 years! My father's watch just needed a new battery and a fitting for the band. But the older ones needed new parts, specialty cleaning work, a new band, the works. I decided to put new bands on the two vintage watches - they look amazing! all i have to say is if you expect customer service do not ever take anything here! I just picked up my watch today after them having it for over a month. I wanted it clean which it looks the same and when i said that the comment back was "well it's plastic" and something else like it cant go back to looking brand new. anyway...in the month my watch was there i had to constantly call them because again due to their lack of customer service they NEVER EVER called me ONCE to verify anything cost wise with me which I had asked them to do. When i would call i was given what I felt as the run around (the smart guy working there didn't feel it was) but i think that when you call and are told something different every time, it is the "run around" because it sure isn't good customer service. After a two to 3 weeks i walked into the center to ask about my watch was told that the repair man had that day off and was probably out buying the materials needed to replace the broken ones on my watch. Two weeks after that I called to see if it was done. He said "no, we just ordered the parts". At this point i am livid because not only did they not apologize for any inconvenience or delay I said "Its been there a month so i am just going to pick it up and take it somewhere else" the response that made it all better (NOT), was "well if you pick it up it will be in pieces otherwise it will be done on tuesday" I went on tuesday to find they they are closed. I finally recieved a phone call on friday saying the watch had just been finished. Needless to say...i will never ever go back there and will be sure that my customer service loving friends dont either. read more

Judging from the many other negative reviews, my treatment was the norm and not an exception. Beware. This Mark guy has an obvious problem, and it spills over to his staff who think they can treat people disrespectfully. See the comments he left me to give yourself an idea of the horribly negative attitude they have towards their customers. I've gone to this place many times. Bought a couple watches and a ring. So when my wife needed here 3 rings worked on I didn't hesitate to pick this place. HUGE MISTAKE!!! first they said it would be a week. Cool no prob. A week goes by and nothing. I call them and ask about my wife's rings. They had no clue if the rings were in their store or at a jeweler they contract work to out of town. I spoke to the owner/mng who was very rude from the beginning. He said he'd call me back In half an hour. An hour goes by I call him. He then says they'd maybe ready tues and he'd call me. Tues comes and nothing. I finally call them around 6pm. They said the rings would be ready thur. Thurs comes nothing. My wife goes into the store around 530. They said the rings were on their way from L.A. Ok cool. So the rings arrive and the work that was promised to be done wasn't. They said leave them another day. HELL NO!!! my wife took the rings and got the hell out of there. She went to the store right next door and they said the work can be done in an hour. Her rings were in there hands or someone else's hands for about two weeks and the work was not even done. And the worst part is the owner/mngr didn't even seem to care and acted annoyed when we called and asked about the rings status. The work was suppose to take a week. In their defense their contracted jeweler in LA had a medical emergency and was not in. My biggest problem was that they never called when they said they would. The owner/mngr acted like he was being out out and seemed like we were annoying him when we called. Terrible customer service in my opinion. read more

I walked into this place for the first time today to get two watch batteries replaced and the face of my watch adjusted. The saleswoman quoted me a slight discount (very slight - $15 instead of $18 to fix my watch face, plus $10 for each battery replacement - so expensive!) and when I came back to pick them up the watchmaker was very rude. The woman had forgotten to note the discount so when I asked about the discount the watchmaker acted as though I was being ridiculous/stupid until the woman clarified and charged me correctly. Worst and most bizarre retail experience of my life. This is my first, and, hopefully, only negative review. I wouldn't trust this guy with a Mickey Mouse watch. Literally. Short story: Owner tried to charge me for repair that he later admitted was not done, did not know what employees had previously said to me, argued with me about what the employees had said, tried to bully me by withholding family keepsake, played the "attorney card," and refused to comply with police request. And...the topper...he insisted on cash for a repair that he had not done. Not sure whether he knew the repair was not done and was trying a scam, or he did not know it was not done. Up to you to decide. I was a frequent patron, have 32 watches which require frequent batteries, cleanings...and got to know employee John whom was great. I would drop off several watches, get a cup of coffee, come back, talk a bit about watches, motorcycles... Dropped off my and my father's matching 1970 vintage Mickey Mouse watches with John. Precious keepsakes whose main value was sentimental. At first, they could not be repaired, but John persisted in locating parts for one but parts for the other were extra tough--an electric Mickey with very rare parts. When I would stop by, John would tell me that would keep trying. Received a couple calls from other employees telling me they could not find parts. I told them about John still trying to get parts and was told no problem. Good, on-going customer service. Out of nowhere, I received a text saying that it is my "final notice" that if I do not pick up the watch on short notice, it will be forfeited. Completely inconsistent with prior conversations. Went to pick it up and the owner told me that it was fixed, $120. This seemed odd since it contradicted the prior conversations, and no one told me they located parts, what it would cost, or that it was fixed...I asked why they would send a text like that. He said it's been over 90 days and they had called twice to tell me to pick it up. I tried to tell him about the conversations with John and the employees but he insisted that they had waited long enough and that since John had now worked there for a few weeks, it was about time I picked it up. He knew nothing of the conversations but thought it was ok to tell me about these conversations. I offered him my credit card but he said they don't take credit cards. Since when? I had used credit cards there several times. He told me no credit cards when over 90 days. We then argued a bit. He tells me that if I don't like it, I can get my attorney or the police. Confession: I had enough of this person and cursed at him. I should not have done that and I apologize to any other customers. I went to the bank to get the $120. Owner then refused to take the cash, told me that I could call the police. The police came but then the owner refused to give the watch to the officer, said it was a civil matter and that I could contact his attorney after he removed the parts they supposedly placed. Bet his attorney makes a good living with clients like him. Next day, I asked my father to see if he could make peace, blame it on me...I really didn't care, just wanted my father's watch back. When my father went to pick it up, the owner admitted that the watch really was not fixed, claimed he confused it with the other watch that had been fixed and paid for, and gave it back. Huh? Sure glad I never gave this piece of work my cash. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I have a Citizen watch. I went to couple of watch repair stores and they refused to change the battery saying this is a complicated watch. Then I came to know about Watch and Clock Center and saw the reviews. Today I went there. A nice lady greeted me and asked what help is needed. I told this is the watch which needs a battery change and also need to set the time. She took it and said this will take 15 mins. I also told her one of the screw/button to set the time may be not working. While my watch was getting battery changed, I just browsed shop and saw lots of good watches at decent price. They also have some vintage watches. After sometime she told me the guy is still working on it, I was expecting this as it require skills to set this watch. While I was waiting couple of people came the battery was changed by another guy in 5 mins and he was also explaining how to take care of watch. I have not seen that. AND then he told me my watch is done, Voila!! I was so happy that my watch is working now, it was not working for a while as no one was able to work on it. I would be always going to this shop even if I have to drive 35 miles for this. A highly recommended place!! read more

Was in Long Beach visiting my friend. My tag watch stopped working so I panic. Came across this amazing store and John. He took my watch and said come back in a bit. He recommended a great place to eat and off to lunch w/the kids we went. While at lunch John calls and says, "your watch is fixed". It was nothing but some dust or dirt that he simply took care of. I couldn't believe that he hardly charge me anything for it and my watched looked better then before. I had to question him if it was really my watch, because it was so clean and pretty! I took in a brand new clock that the 2nd hand fell off ( it screwed off in its travels) I was quoted $30. And said it would be ready in a week. I called a week later and understandably because of the holiday, I was told the clock man was out of the store.it took over two weeks. I was charged $41 and some change. I told the girl, that you quoted me $30, without any emotion she said it will be 37 + tax. I noticed the box on the back , that holds the battery, was replaced with another box that was adhered with command strips!! I questioned if this will hold, she said I have a one year guarantee..... the point is My clock was a Christmas gift from my son, it is priceless to me, it's upsetting that people take advantage of other people., I even bought some old priceless money in their store as I was waiting for my original quote. Anyway, as an FYI for people that don't have much money like myself, I found a kit on amazon for $8 dollars, it has the screws, battery box, extra hands and instructions. One last thing. The blonde lady that works in the store was very kind, and she seemed to understand my frustration. She's a great asset to that store. But I'm never going back. read more

Wow, I just received a scathing response to my review of a business that can't seem to do anything right. The owner, Mark, has threatened to sue me for defamation based on an honest Yelp review. Go ahead and sue me, Mark...I will countersue you for the money I had to pay a COMPETENT watch maker to do the work that you couldn't seem to pull off after a year. Since you're so interested, I'll give you the long version: Yesterday I inherited a Rolex GMT Master II, can't afford to buy a new one. It just needs cleaning and a link taken out. I asked my wife where she had taken hers because I did not want to take it to the Watch & Clock Center in Belmont Shore on 2nd St., even though it's the closest one to my house. Absolutely not. Won't go there. Unfortunately, it appears I will be driving up to Beverly Hills. The real tragedy here is a local business that thinks that the customers are the enemy. I didn't do my 2 Yelp reviews (one good, one bad, hopefully more to come) for any personal reasons. I only did it try to repay other Yelpers who have really helped me. Mark, please try to understand that your business really does suck. There is no conspiracy on the part of the citizens of Belmont Shore, who are mostly really nice people. Believe me, there are some dreadful greasy spoon restaurants that have more stars than you do. Try to understand a new concept: maybe it's YOU. It starts with accepting that YOU are the problem. It's not your annoying customers. Yes, customers are annoying. Fortunately, they make up for it buy paying you $$$. I see that you hate Yelp. Well, guess what, Yelp is not the problem either. Personally, I like Yelp, and so do a few other people. I don't know why you are in business, only you can answer that question. I do know that nowadays you can no longer hide behind a fancy sign in a fancy neighborhood. Nowadays, you have to deliver a quality service, otherwise people like me who research businesses online will find out how truly awful your business is. Cheer up though, not everyone uses Yelp! Maybe if you start treating those customers with an ounce of respect, you could make all of the negative comments get crushed with positive comments. read more

I purchased a diamond ring at Macy's on Black Friday that was a half-size too small. Macy's wasn't willing to re-size it because the gems on the sides went down so low but I was told that as long as I kept the tag on the ring I could return it if I was unable to find a jeweler willing and able to do it....so I bit. I took it to a jeweler near my house and after some consideration he explained to me that he couldn't guarantee that no diamonds would fall off when he applied pressure in the process of sizing it up and that if one diamond falls off the likelihood of more doing the same increases. Furthermore he'd have to remove the tag to do the work and render the ring nonreturnable. I appreciated his honesty, left and decided to try Watch & Clock Center as a last resort before returning it to Macy's. Am I glad I did! I was told straight away that it could be done and be ready the following day. The price was very reasonable and sure enough I got a phone call the next day (always nice when a business does call you and you don't have to follow through) letting me know it was ready. And on both occasions I was there I experienced nothing but friendly customer service....just like in the good ole days. Yep, as good as it gets! read more

Great watch repair at a great price! I have a 1980's model Rolex Submariner with a scratched crystal that can't take any more polishing. I went to a number of jewelers in Belmont Shore to get estimates of the cost to replace the crystal. They were all outrageous including McCartys Jewelry who wanted $225 for the replacement. During the Classic Car Show in September, I walked past the Watch & Clock Center on 2nd St.and went in for an estimate. The owner examined my watch and told me that one of his in-store Certified Rolex Watchmakers would replace the crystal for $40 - using genuine Rolex parts and tools to ensure that the repair was done to factory specifications. I am extremely pleased with this company and would highly recommend them to anyone. Forget all the other rip-offs on 2nd St. and try these guys out. read more
