I absolutely love Water Grill and will happily keep coming back. What stood out most during this visit was the exceptional service. I was dining with a friend who has dietary restrictions, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was safe for them. They patiently checked ingredients, confirmed details with the kitchen, and made us feel completely comfortable throughout the meal. That level of attentiveness and care is something I always appreciate. The staff also gave fantastic recommendations, which made navigating the menu much easier. It's clear they know the menu well and genuinely want guests to have a great experience. As for the food, everything was excellent. We started with oysters, which were incredibly fresh. I especially loved the variety of sauces and accompaniments that came with them--each one brought out different flavors and made the tasting experience even more enjoyable. Another standout was the lobster roll. It was wonderfully indulgent, loaded with sweet lobster, and served on a perfectly buttery roll. Definitely not an everyday meal, but absolutely worth treating yourself to. Every bite felt rich, satisfying, and delicious. The real star of the meal, though, was the sea bass. It was beautifully cooked, tender, flaky, and packed with flavor. Every bite practically melted in my mouth, and it easily became one of the best sea bass dishes I've had in a long time. Between the outstanding service, thoughtful accommodations, fresh seafood, and expertly prepared dishes, Water Grill continues to be one of my favorite spots for a special meal. Inside is beautiful and I saw several patrons sitting at the bar and enjoy some seafood and drinks. - Bread and Butter (5/5): free bread for the table- my favorite part of this meal! Perfectly salted butter, and the taste reminded me of sourdough but the texture of the bread itself was like a very crispy crunchy outer layer over a martin's potato roll. - The Grand (3/5): I learned that I am definitely not a shellfish person.. so keep in mind of my biased take! I wish the waiter explained what came on our plate, but he quickly scooted away. The scallops were my favorite. Nice and mild and sweet flavor. The grand also came with 6 sauces to pair. Wasn't sure which sauce went best with which, but doesn't hurt to try? shell on shrimp and lobster claw were the second and third bests in my opinion. - Grilled Black-eyed Perch (4/5): got a smaller 1.2 lb fish. Can get it grilled and fried. Fried is ~$4 more. This fish was around 38-39/lb at the time of writing. Flavors were so great! Not a bony fish at all and didn't have to really pick at it. This is a great spot for dinner! We came with reservations and were seated right away. Our server was excellent and gave really good recommendations, which was especially helpful since I was with people from out of town. We started off with the oysters, and they were amazing. I loved the variety of sauces and the staff's help in picking exactly what we wanted. We paired them with different types of drinks that complemented the flavors very well. For our entrées, we all ordered the Sea Bass given the high remarks we had heard, and it did not disappoint at all. It was delicious and definitely worth the price point. The food was solid overall. The steak, cooked medium rare, was actually better than the ribeye I had at STK, which I didn't expect from a seafood spot. The Wagu steak flight was awesome. The rib eye, NY strip, and filet were all cooked perfectly and tender. The sea bass with butternut squash gnocchi was a hit too. The Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon paired nicely with the steak, and with our grilled octopus. The maple cheesecake was ok, not a favorite as it was to sweet. Take my review with a grain a salt. I am not big on sea food and this time I tried a lot of things which was my first time. But first let's talk about ambience. Absolutely aesthetic - almost a piece of art. So well done, very beautifully done marine theme all around. Our server was amazing too - very patient and explained the cusines and recommendations with very good knowledge. Having said that - food ! I tried the lobster with eel sauce sushi and it was amazing. It was my first time trying out Octopus - to be honest I don't know how I felt about it. Not my favourite. The black cod was amazing but the accompanying noodles and broth was about okayish. Maybe it is supposed to taste a bit bland but it wasn't that flavourful. 5 star appetizers, 3 star entrees. Highlights: The Appetizers. Calamari and mussels dishes were large and worth the price. The breading on the calamari was light and crispy, loved the sauces it came with. The sauce with the mussels had a spicy kick to it and the bacon bits were addicting. Starting the dinner off with bread rolls. They were soft, but the bits of salt sprinkled on just the top just made the top of the bread SO salty. This was the same pattern I found with my salmon and risotto. The salmon was cooked perfectly but the meat of the salmon was bland and the skin was SO salty. There was a lack of balance. Paired with the risotto, it was rich and creamy, just wish there was something acidic in the dish to cleanse my palate. The Mahi Mahi was also overly salty. Service was really nice, but felt a little inattentive at times? Missed one of our orders, not coming around to refill water. Didn't ask if we were done with plates before taking them away. As many other reviews mention, the calamari was amazing and our favorite item across everything we had. The appetizers in general were both outstanding and the entrees were good but not spectacular. We both wished our fish entrees had a bit of acidity/freshness to balance out the salt. Drinks: I had the maritime mule and thought it was great. I find most mules overly sweet but this one had the right balance of flavors to me. Price: Overall good value for the cuisine, quality, location, and ambiance. We spent about $500 after tax + tip for 6 people. Appetizers are about $20-25, drinks $20, and entrees $40-60 depending on what you order Service/Ambiance: The restaurant has a great ambiance and decorations that make it both lively but also intimate. The service was also strong, the staff was friendly and answered all of our questions and were proactive in giving us new settings. So we sort of were just trying to find something and stumbled on our favorite restaurant from Santa Monica! We had no idea this was a chain and wow they out did themselves in WA also! Came here for some late night snacks and since it was relatively quiet that night, I was able to get a seat at the bar right in front of the oysters! I haven't really tried oysters from WA before so I ordered a sampler platter along with some scallops to try. The oysters were shucked right in front of me and they tasted really fresh. The best one by far of that night was the hama hama oysters and I ended up ordering a few extra! The scallop was good but the sauce ended up overpowering it a little bit. Also, the warm dinner rolls are absolutely amazing. I think they might have been sourdough but I basically inhaled the entire loaf. Will definitely be back if i'm in the area! We enjoyed our drinks. The complimentary bread was warm and good. Crispy calamari was great, we loved the chili sauce with it, complimented the calamari well. We then got Live Wild Washington Dungeness Crab, Char-Grilled Wild Massachusetts Black Sea Bass, and Roasted Butternut Squash. I loved the Dungeness Crab, fresh with a lot of meat. Which is rare to find on the West Coast. No idea why this is, it's not like we don't have clams out here. On the East coast you can get them at almost any seafood restaurant. Go figure. Of course, I had a full dozen of the raw Littleneck Clams. It came with cocktail sauce and I asked for some of the wine vinegar sauce they use for the oysters. My wife had a lobster roll which she said was very good it also came with perfectly fried french fries! Crisp on the outside and soft and hot on the inside. We also got one of the Sushi rolls. The Trojan Roll witch was a delicious salmon concoction with caviar on top in a delectable sauce. You won't go wrong here and this place is definitely date worthy! This will most likely be my last review for 2025. I hope to return to the Elite Squad in 2026. The food at The Water Grill continues to be excellent, but this visit was significantly impacted by a very poor interaction with management. Nicole's handling of the situation was unprofessional, dismissive, and completely lacked basic hospitality. The way she spoke to our table was rude and unnecessary, and it immediately shifted the tone of the evening. For a restaurant of this caliber, that kind of management behavior is unacceptable and left a lasting negative impression. That said, the food itself remains strong. The seafood tower was fresh and beautifully done. The spiny lobster was excellent, the steak was cooked perfectly, compliments to the chef, and the calamari was great. The sundae and key lime pie were also delicious and a solid way to end the meal. This used to be our regular Friday spot, and I was planning to book the private room here for a birthday celebration. After my experience with Nicole, I will not be moving forward with that, and we will now be finding a new Friday restaurant. The Water Grill clearly has talented chefs and a strong menu, but management interactions matter. We like to go out to dinner for Thanksgiving and Water Grill had a traditional turkey dinner option, as well as the regular menu. I would order it again and again. The bread was good and the butter was easily spreadable. I have the Chilean sea bass which is my favorite fish. It was cooked just right. The gnocci was ok. The butternut squash puree was smooth and delicious. I would have preferred the fish to be paired with a salad and served with some lemon. I think it needed something lighter to go with it. My spouse had sea bass as well but it was from the US (I can't recall the name). He enjoyed it but he said the Chilean sea bass was better. I think his fish had more flavor. I did not care for the brussel sprouts. I wish we would have tried the mac and cheese. For dessert we received a 3 cookie dish (chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and snickerdoodle) topped with vanilla ice cream. My husband enjoyed it but I did not. I don't really like cookies and when I do eat them I liked them baked longer. I would say the rolls could have a little less salt on them and I would recommend more than one orange slice with the sea urchin but other than that I have no suggestions. We will return as our kids want to try it after we raved about it. Also, my drink was strong and tasty. I think I had the barely aged which is a whiskey based drink. Give it a try. We visited on Saturday evening with a party of 7 adults and 4 children, for dinner, and it was an excellent experience. We arrived and only had to wait a few minutes for our reserved table. The waitress arrived, cleared several wine glasses and place settings for the kids and took our drink orders. Their margaritas are nice and strong. Despite having a reservation, my friend and I chose to sit at the bar because a particularly cute and cozy corner caught our attention. While all the appetizers looked tempting, we decided to try several of them, including the signature octopus, Oysters Rockefeller, Manila clams, and a half-dozen oyster platter. We skipped entrées this time to focus on the starters. The octopus transported me back to southern Europe with its perfect texture and flavor, though a small part at the tip of the leg was burnt. The Oysters Rockefeller were generously filled and paired with fresh, plump oysters, not the kind where toppings mask subpar quality. The fresh oyster platter, mostly featuring oysters from Washington, was also excellent, plump, fresh, and served with four sauces and lemon. The Manila clams were well-cooked and fresh, with a sauce that wasn't overly salty. However, I would have preferred a less sticky consistency for the sauce and better bread as a side. It took some time to finish the plate, lots of shells, and the dish became a bit greasy as it cooled. Our servers, Nas and Jessica, were patient, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Our friends wanted to go out and celebrate with seafood, so we decided to try Water Grill out. We got free bread as a part of our appetizer. It was fluffy and flaky, satisfied the whole table. For entreés, I ordered the Swordfish and my husband ordered the King Salmon. Our friends ordered oysters, crab legs, and steak. Our friends shared the oysters and they were phenomenal. Best oysters I have had by far. Swordfish was tough, but super sour. My husband thought the salmon was overcooked, tasting bland and dry. Our friends loved the steak, was rare as they asked. Crab legs they noted said it was okay, doesnt taste any special from other crab legs they have had and it wasnt worth the $95 per. We ordered drinks to go with our meals and enjoyed our alcoholic beverages. Service was sweet, patient, and very accomodating. We got our food at reasonable times and didnt have to look for service when we had questions. Overall, for the hefty prices we paid for all this, the quality was just decent. The clam chowder is amazing and comes with a 4some of fresh clams on top. My scallops were delicious with the succotash and perfectly cooked. It's so easy to overcook seafod and I've not seen them do that yet. So if you want perfectly cooked fish, come here. The issue in the past has been the sides. I noticed the last side I had, the Kale, was no longer on the menu. Good move. We had the broccolini with Chinese sausage which was delicious. If I were the proprietors, I'd focus on improving the sides as the entrees are quite delicious. But the meal can be brought down by a side dish that wasn't well executed. Been here enough times now to give a solid comprehensive review. Water Grill is great at times, and so-so the others. When its great, its great. The Sea Bass and Black Cod is ordered almost everytime we visit. 80% of the time its very satisfactory. However, our visit just last Sunday it was very mediocre, so mediocre we doggy bagg'ed it. Usually, the plate is cleaned by us. Both lacked the usual tenderness, flavor bounce, and moistness. They were very noticeably underwhelming by our table. The King Crab legs, $200 worth were overcooked, dry, chewy, very underwhelming, especially when I sold it so hard to my uncle who never had "real King Crab legs." Very sadge. 12oz Filet Mignon, nothing spectacular, did the job, but you don't go to a Seafood Restaurant to order steak. It was fine, just not going to order it again. Lobster was also overcooked, it was getting a bit near the "tough" but not quite that stage of chewiness. Yes, Lobster by default has a bit of rubbery texture, but I just feel the preparation and cooking can improve for this big dish. Broccolini and Chinese Sausage side was a tad salty, otherwise did the job as a veggie side. Clam Chowder was good, chalk full of goodies inside, worth the money. Kale was ordered only once every in our many visits here, very underwhelming, like an afterthought placed onto the menu. Heirloom Tomato Salad and Mixed Greens are always ordered here. Both solid every time. Calamari, good, always served nice and hot with good sauces accompanying. Bread is good too with the butter! Tuna dish is ok, I just know they can do better, its healthy which I love but I don't eat it with a tremendous smile with joy. Again, does the job but not great. To summarize been here enough times to be a regular because first, the pricing is fair, its not crazy like you would expect for such a location in downtown Bellevue. The Cod and Sea Bass are the stars here (most of the time), the rest are ok, and the environment is nice. Its also great that most of the time you can get a table without reservations (I'm not sure that is a good thing) but very convenient for us. The service is good, most recently we had David on back to back weekends which also promotes us coming back. But the food can be inconsistent, meaning 80% of time its great, 20% just ok. Amazing Sunday dinner! They keep improving everytime I visit. Oysters Rockefeller blew me away! Staff could not have been nicer, especially Megan & Charlene! The Ceasar salad was on point with beautiful white anchovies included. Chilean Seabass served with incredible brown butter sauce created the perfect meal! read more

Hands down my favorite restaurant on the downtown Bellevue strip and I've pretty much tried them all. They know where they source their food, all of the servers are versed and know their stuff ( shout out to Michael amazing service every time ) and being born and raised in Alaska their seafood is top notch quality .
