This is a beautiful little spot. Have not been in years but went the other night. Was a bit perplexed by some of the menu items. First off, the Bluefish pate is still up there with the best. Absolutely delicious! The grilled oysters is where things went off the rails. They came with such a strong flavor of Turmeric it ruined the dish imo. They also had some type of cream and then topped with a grape. Strangest combination of flavors and textures I've ever eaten. We then moved onto the burger. It was just ok, for the cost of it, I expected a bit more. My wife could not finish hers. Overall it was an ok experience but I am in no hurry to return. If I do it will be for cocktails, pate, and the view. read more

this was an EXCEPTIONAL dinner! make reservations in advance and be warned that parking is a bit sparse downtown so factor finding parking into your arrival time. the restaurant is right on the water so definitely recommend for a sunset dinner but we went at night and still had a wonderful experience. staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and were proud to work there which really improves any dining experience!! the food was fantastic and was maybe some of the best food i've had in massachusetts. the dessert was one of the best things i have ever had in my life - if you think a food pairing is a little weird just roll with it because the chef knows ABSOLUTELY what they are doing. We had dinner nearby at a place that does not serve dessert. We could not resist stopping by here for some treats as we have been here in the past. Luckily there weee 2 seats at the bar, every table ws seated and mostly all reserved all night. The bartender and helper were friendly and helpful and happy to serve us something sweet . My husband had a take on a fancy ice cream sandwich with high end components, all house made. I chose the deconstructed strawberry rhubarb pie and ice cream. There was a hand pie with fresh tender cooked rhubarb in a light and toasty crust. On the side was a pile of fresh mixed strawberries alongside a scoop of house made buttermilk ice cream. It was all topped off with some crisp slices of lemon and basil meringue. Perfect combo. It was perfect on top of the meal we had earlier, just a block down the street. A few years ago, we stopped in hear for some fresh appetizers, but our visits to Woods Hole are few and far between these days so reserving a full meal so far ahead is difficult. Wow! It has been quite a while since we've been blown away by a meal like our dinner at Water Street Kitchen. Service was impeccable and everyone seemed so happy to be representing the restaurant. We had an amazing anniversary dinner here. Our waitress Tricia had some great recommendations for us like the duck confit appetizer, and the striped bass that I got for my entree. She was even able to tell me where the bass was caught! Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly and every person we interacted with was very kind and helpful. To top it all off, we wanted to step outside to take some pictures by the water while we waited for our food and the hostess offered to come outside with us and take our picture so we could remember the night. One of the best restaurants on the Cape and our favorite in the Falmouth & Woods Hole area. Seasonal menu that is regularly updated. Cocktails are well balanced and interesting. Excellent wine list. Perfectly cooked dishes with layers of flavors and textures that keep us coming back year after year. The view of the bay and boats passing through the drawbridge are wonderful. Pictured is the tiki tommy, a new cocktail. The frozen grapes are smoked, so delicious! Also pictured are the crudo and cioppino (seafood stew). There was a neat squid ink bread served with the stew. This is a great option if you're in Woods Hole or Falmouth, MA. The service is amazing; the food is very good, the fish pate is remarkable (remember this when you have the pickles and the mustard that comes with the pate). This is a 4 1/2 star restaurant. Our only comment are the size of the entrees, a bit too big, if there downside by 1/3, they'd be perfect. Service- I watched as they all worked as a team and they all attended to us at different times. The hostess made our anniversary special through out the night. The pre bussing was amazing, never an empty glass, new stemware and plates for each course. Food- Fresh, flavor, great original recipes. Craft cocktails- I never buy into them or the hype. Had some nice eats while visiting Cape Cod for a mini vacation. This place was amazing. Service is a 5, ambience is a 5, and food was a 5. This place was a casual place. We sat at a hightop in the bar area. The food was fancy and delicious. The dishes were plated creatively and all the flavors complimented each other. We loved the fancy curled grilled corn. This is one of those places where I should have just ordered 3 appetizers as my meal. We had the burrito heirloom tomato salad, the scallops, the shishito peppers and the kimchi pancake for our shared starters. All were AMAZING. I was really looking forward to the burger I ordered. The waitress said it was very good and the aioli was AMAZING. She was right. It was good (not great) and the aioli was fantastic. I think the problem with the huger was it sounded so unique and flavorful but with each bite all I tasted was a bland burger... was disappointed with it. But the appetizers really held me over. My husband got the risotto that was exactly what you'd expect and was delicious. I was kicking myself for not getting the cioppino but honestly I heard the table next to us who got it saying the lobster was very chewy... who knows. Maybe both the burger and the cioppino had an off night. I'd be willing to go back and try again! Side note - got the fig and artichoke cocktail. Sounded so strange and interesting. Six of us savored a fabulous holiday meal last night (Friday) at the Water Street Kitchen (56 Water Street, Woods Hole)--their "Feast of Seven Fishes" dinner. While some in our party had dined at The Fishmonger, the prior incarnation of this charming venue right at the bridge, none of us had dined at Water Street Kitchen before. We were all extremely impressed with the warmth and comfort of the restaurant itself, the attentiveness of the staff, and the high quality of the creative dishes presented by the chef for our dining pleasure. Seated promptly at 5:30, we were greeted by Trisha, our main server for the evening. Trisha was energetic, knowledgeable about the dishes and wine, friendly, and totally unfrazzled by the dining room brimming with guests. She was a delight, as were the staff who assisted with the presention of the six dishes. Dinner was briefly explained, water brought, and the first round of drinks quickly presented. Quite a few drinks were ordered at different times last night and Trisha handled that with ease--even suggesting a lovely sparkling wine to accompany the final savory course for three in our party. There were indeed seven fishes presented over five savory courses, each dish appetizingly explained by Trisha as they arrived. We started with tuna (1) and salmon (2) crudo with grilled pineaapple and yuzu salt (some in our group found the salt component of the dish overpowered the delicacy of the fresh fish, but everyone agreed that the pineapple and thai basil oil went extremely well with this opening). This was followed by lightly fried oysters (3) and fresh anchovies (4) over braised celery, rye croutons, and a light Caesar salad sauce for dipping presented in an oyster shell. Just enough to savor the slightly briny taste of the oyster which contrasted well with the rich, almost meatly flavor of the fresh anchovy. Next was a simply amazing soup--characterized as a "wedding" soup, the broth was flavored with fennel (but delicately) and prosciutto. The soup itself contained delicately poached rock shrimp (5), lacinato kale, and was topped with a generous helping of thin slivers of fried parsnip--adding a subtle element of sweetness to each bite. The soup was followed by a single u-10 scallop (6) encased in a freshly made ravioli, nestled in a parsley, garlic butter sauce containing roasted pine nuts, crisp shallots, and romanesco. Fantastic. Some in the group complained that there wasn't any bread to soak up the delicious sauce, a problem quickly solved by a consensus decision that we should all just delicately drink the sauce--which many did to obvious delight. The final savory course was a piece of cod (7) fried in tempura batter infused with squid ink accompanied bysliced fingerling potatoes, a tomato-olive conserva, all resting on top of a preserved lemon aioli for dipping. While the squid ink didn't really add anything beyong color to the tempura batter, the cod itself was fried perfectly--crisp of the outside, lusciously soft on the inside--and was totally without a trace of grease. The final course, which alas, did not contain any fish, was a light and fluffy ricotta donut filled with fig jam over a zabaione sauce infused with crispy rosemary. A surprisingly light and not overly-sweet end to a memorable meal. The three nights of the "Feast of Seven Fishes" was sold out weeks ago and for reasons we well understand after last evening's gala of tastes. Water Street Kitchen will be hosting a party on NYE and then they will close for the season. We will certainly return when they reopen to sample more of their chef's creative fare. This is my inaugural effort to take and attempt to post a few photos with my review, please be kind in your appraisal. Wow! What an awesome experience we had tonight at Water Street! First of all, it's located on the water near where the ferry to/from Marthas Vinyard docks and next to a tiny drawbridge. You can watch the movement of the boats from most of the tables. Next, the service was top-notch. Our waitress Jessica gave us great recommendations plus she checked in with us regularly to make sure that we had everything that we needed. Next, the food. We shared the shishito pepper and pork belly lettuce wraps to start and I followed that with one of the best duck entrees that I ever had. The mixed drinks and wine selections were on point as well. Exquisite. My wife and I, and our 18-month-old daughter, went here with my parents for dinner. My wife and I were vacationing in Woods Hole, and my folks drove an hour to visit, so we wanted somewhere special to dine. For this, three separate locals recommended Water Street Kitchen. Excellent advice. From the get-go this restaurant stands out. The decor is super interesting with an eclectic mix of culinary antiques and fun nautical objects. The staff were courteous and helpful beyond even expectation, like at a Trader Joe's. Multiple employees played with my young daughter and made her laugh. It's no surprise this evening was the best behaved my girl was at a restaurant during our entire trip. And the food was superb. All the locals recommended the scallops, so our entire table ended up ordering the dish. What was served was among the best designed and balanced dishes I've ever had. All the many ingredients mixed in different and interesting ways. Complex and tasty, with perfectly cooked scallops. My father called it his favorite scallops dish he's ever eaten, and my folks live on the shoreline. Heck, even the kids' menu risotto we ordered for my daughter was delicious. A magical, charming restaurant hidden away in Woods Hole and located right on the waterfront. My partner and I have visited twice, both around the holiday season, and have had the best experience here consistently. The space is small, intimate, and cozy with flickering candles at each table (albeit fake candles) and small tables - perfect for a date night spot. The service is amazing and has always been so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Most importantly, the food here is spot on and insanely comforting without being too heavy. The dish that brings me back here is the haddock. It's served with oyster mushrooms, cannellini beans, spinach, pancetta, and a parmesan broth and let me tell you - I would drink buckets of this broth if I could. There's a hint of acid (I'm guessing from lemon?) that makes this so light and delightful and each time you get a bite of fatty pancetta, it makes your taste buds come alive. We also tried the pork belly small plate with sweet potato puree and it was an absolute treat. The pork belly is so rich in flavor, fatty, tender, and falls apart in your fork. You can dip it in the sweet potato puree and the balsalmic glaze and goodness, are you in for a good time. I also tried the shoyu ramen and while it was good, the haddock definitely takes the cake on best supper menu item to order. Now, onto the most unexpected part of water street kitchen - the dessert menu. Last year, my partner insisted on ordering an ice cream sandwich to which I silently rolled my eyes - how good could an ice cream sandwich really be when there are so many other desserts to choose from? Ladies and gentlemen, I was wrong. This ice cream sandwich is like no other - the sandwich part is rich, chewy, chocolatey brownie and the homemade ice cream is the best ice cream I have had in this entire world. The texture is somewhere between icee with tiny bit of ice cream ice and creamy, but the vanilla bean tastes so fresh and so real. This year, we also ordered mint ice cream on the side and you could really taste the sweetness and menthol of the fresh herb mint leaves inside. Our meal was just meh, but the service and bustling setting was great. We chose this for a Friday night meal for our cape cod getaway. The place is decidedly casual with more of a bar vibe than white tablecloth. That being said it's upscale bar with wood and a nautical flair. Our server was attentive also though clearly working hard as it seemed a bit understaffed. Food was so so. My husbands ciopinno was lacking broth and flavor. The texture of the seafood seemed dry like it had been frozen badly. My short rib burger was kind of slimy and mushy: just not very appetizing. This is a new restaurant that opened up around May 2016. It comes with high review, and therefore, not easy to make a last minute reservation on weekend. We were lucky enough get one by becoming early birds. We don't mind eating dinner early, that gives more time to digest before going to bed! This restaurant is sitting on the water, so you get a great view of the water if you get a table by the window. One thing to note, they will not seat you until your party is complete. So, if you are meeting up with people, make sure everyone is on time. The surprising thing about this place is that they do NOT offer complementary bread. If you want some bread, you need to order them. I can kind of see a good reason for this - for there are many people who don't really eat much of the complimentary bread, and therefore they go to waste. If you have to pay for it, then you feel like you really ought to eat them, and not waste them. Everything we ordered - drinks, dinner, desserts - was very tasty and beautifully presented. Good portion size, and we were all very satisfied with our order, and completely full. I am so glad to see new, wonderful, yummy restaurants opening up in this area. Although they are a bit pricey, but the quality is high, both in food and service. It is a "relax and enjoy" type of place, so the service is not fast, or I should say it is "not rushed."
