We recently used Waters moving company to move from northern CA to southern CA and this was the BEST moving experience possible. The employees are professional, courteous, careful and hard working. On the morning of the move 8 men in Waters uniforms arrived on time and one by one introduced themselves. As a team they all walked through the entire house with us to make sure everyone was aware of the job to be done. They provided wardrobe containers (lots of them) to be used for the 3 day job at no extra charge which is a big plus. Our packed possessions were all on one truck and the truck is not shared with another person's belongings so there is no chance of your boxes getting mixed with another families or "lost". Waters isn't the least expensive moving company but they are the best, by far. I highly recommend them. read more

I would never recommend this company to another person. I was over charged, the truck they sent was not large enough for the job and the movers were not attentive to my home. I called and asked to speak to the owner who refused to talk with me but had one of his estimators call. I recently was tasked with moving my company to a new office location. I evaluated 5 different companies for their capabilities, reviews, pricing and overall process. Waters was quick to respond to my inquiries, were good at following through and were the only ones to offer me a fixed price including the move itself, disposal (we had some things to get rid of) and supplies. We really liked their supplies (they used crates which they dropped off ahead of time and picked up after the move was over - environmentally friendly) They also were very flexible with the move time/day and did not charge overtime. The move was in San Francisco which has strict rules. Waters was able to comply with the insurance certificate requirements with no problem. The move itself went very smoothly. I couldn't believe how many guys they sent - there were people getting boxes ready and packing up computers in our office suite, guys bringing things up and down the elevator, guys getting stuff onto the truck and a guy who was organizing the whole thing. It was quite a large move (3 GIANT trucks) and we only had one very small casualty when a table fell off one of the piles of stuff - all in all better than I had expected. They were definitely very experienced. When we arrived at the new building they were flexible about moving a few things around after they had been situated and going through to make sure all the boxes landed in the right place. My whole company showed up the following Monday and everyone was excited and ready to work. It was a great experience and I highly recommend this company. We used them for our move in September 2010. For the load-in, they were on-time, nothing got damaged, and I liked having the use of free wardrobe boxes. When they delivered everything, they were also very efficient -- the driver and a local moving company employee took care of everything amazingly fast. They were actually even a bit early on delivery day... With regards to their bid, they were very competitive. I also liked the fact that they run background checks on their employees -- it's just one less thing to worry about (even though in 7 moving company moves I've lived through in my life, we've never had an issue with anyone). read more

I just moved from SLO to Danville. The thought of moving was scary after what happened to us in the previous move. We interviewed three moving companies. Waters was recommended by our Realtor so we called them. They were professional over the phone and called several times to confirm the move. They showed up on time with 4 guys as promised. They were polite and fast. They completed packing the truck in 3 hours without any damages to the home. Upon delivery, they brought 6 guys and the move was over in 3.5 hours. They rearranged the furniture few times as we changed our mind where to place some items without complaints. Minor scratch to a side wall. I guess you can expect some in a move that large. They were a little pricey but worth it. Bottom line I would use them again. read more

Awful is all I can say about this company! With so many moving choices out there to choose from , my advice would be keep Looking ! This is a terrible moving company. I got a quote from Ed for a local move with storage in Martinez. It seemed reasonable enough and he said it would be quick. What a joke. It's the old switch and bait scam. The guys show up late in the rain and work slow and slower. They carried tiny items down the stairs one at a time , took breaks every 45 minutes , took a very long lunch break and generally did whatever was necessary to pad our bill. Absolutely no respect for the client! They gave us used boxes and charged us full price. You would think that the outrageous fees and time they spent that the house would be empty ! Wrong, they just put a truckload in the garage ! What was the point of having a moving company? Perhaps if they did not take breaks every 45 minutes it would have been done in a timely and more efficient manner ! Please save yourself the heartache and your wallet and do not use this company! We moved on 6/10/13 and had a great experience w/ Waters. They arrived 15 minutes early, were efficient, careful, and informed me of all issues w/ furniture prior to moving it. After taking apart one of the beds they recognized the platform part of the frame needed reinforcing and fixed it quickly prior to loading. The crew worked hard and completed the job a lot faster than I anticipated...which saved us money! Someone always answers the phone - and is pleasant too! - at the main office. I was extremely disappointed in the cost, the breakage, the removal of personal property, and the lack of caring by Linda in resolving the issue for our customer. Our mutual customer felt "insulted". The sales rep, Douglas, promised we would be "amazed". We were not. This company did not accept responsibility for their actions, nor did they respond to my request for a resolution in writing. It seems as if they do not need, or want, my office's referral business of hundreds of customers. All that was being asked for was fair compensation for a slow move. Instead, it appears it is the customer's fault. As I type this on 5/13/2015, I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and let my office co-workers know what happened. read more

We had never used movers before and we were trying to be cost effective so we got several bids and our experience with Waters was the best from start to finish. They sent a sales person out to get a realistic quote and he was very helpful in showing me how to save money and developed plan that fit our budget. Our closing date got moved and the team was able to figure out how to get our move in even though they were super busy. They dropped bins off which saved money as we did not need to buy as many boxes and our belongings were much better secured in the thick plastic bins. The crew they sent were amazing. They were hard working, had a great leader and second in command and were just a joy to have around. We were almost sad to see the crew go at the end of a very long day. When we planned the moving our home we called and received quotes from 3 different moving companies. My husband met with each salesperson and walked them through our home we've had for 12 years and went inside and out. We received a very similar quote from each company, all of them coming in at approximately $2200. A quote should be an accurate quote! We then made our decision based on who we felt would be the most honest and decided on Waters Moving Co. since we knew they had been around for a long time, were family owned and we felt they would take the best care of our move and our upcoming very stressful day. We were simply moving from one house to another house in the same city and only 3 miles away. We had no idea what we were in store for that day. My husband received the quote from Ed and when his crew, being led by Brandon showed up that day he had a concerned look on his face as my husband took him around the house reminding him of what needed to be moved. Brandon then notified us that Ed was missing numerous items on his list that were in the house. One of the items was a fountain we had in the backyard that was an item my husband specifically discussed with Ed since we knew it would be heavy. My husband not only took the fountain apart for the move but also brought home a dolly that would assist the movers in the moving it, Ed did not have this and many items on his list. Brandon then called Ed to discuss and Ed basically said too bad to Brandon and to us. We then began to realize that we had been scammed. We have pictures of all of the items he claims he "didn't see" on our pictures from our real estate listing when we put our house on the market. Why on earth would someone getting ready to move, move items they didn't have there, moved in only to have them moved out. Of course Ed knew he had us in a predicament, we could not do anything about this since we had to be out of our house that day. Were told they had to bring out two more movers and that we would have to then pay by the hour. The final amount turned out to be $3800, over $1600 more than quoted. This is an unacceptable way to do business. The only positive from this day was that Brandon and his moving crew were spectacular and very helpful! read more

These people are fantastic! I have not one word of complaint about them. Moving can be a stressful, exhausting, and overwhelming experience, especially when it involves a large household with years of accumulated items. Add in time pressures to vacate a property within a short time frame and move everything into a new place, and it can be worse. My wife was familiar with Water's, and had a good impression of them from when they had moved the law firm where she worked. So we called them first and decided to go with them without getting any other estimates. Ed came over to the house to meet with us, discuss the moving process, take an inventory of things to be moved, and then provided an estimate. The cost was certainly not inexpensive but seemed reasonable considering the volume of work to be done and the size of crew needed. Communication with Water's office staff prior to move day was excellent. Like others have mentioned, they can provide stackable, heavy duty, plastic storage totes in which your kitchen items, collectibles, or whatever can be packed for transport. They also provide labels and wrapping paper. The totes are the same as those which are sold at big box stores for $10 or more, and Waters will provide these at a low rental charge, and allow you to hold on to them until you have time to unpack all the contents. I liked using the totes better than buying cardboard boxes that need to be assembled and taped. They also provide cardboard "wardrobes" for packing and transporting clothing. On move day they arrived on time with Alfredo in charge of a crew of about 7-8 guys. All were clean, hardworking, friendly, uniformed, and well organized. They got the job done fast, and took the time to cover furniture in plastic wrap and to cover any fragile items with paper wrap and/or moving blankets. They were also receptive to moving a few heavy things that I had forgotten about, that were not specifically mentioned in the inventory sheets that Ed had prepared for the contract, and I appreciated their help in that. They delivered the load to our new home in two trucks-- a large "moving van" and a smaller "bobtail" truck. Everything arrived safely and the crew had the furniture, appliances, safes, totes, wardrobes, potted plants, and everything else promptly unloaded and placed in our desired locations. They moved 2,800 sq. ft. of furniture + 3-car garage full of stuff into a condo and 3 units in a storage facility. Fantastic job, nothing broken at all, team of about 6 worked their tails off the whole time. Could not have had a move go any better! Highly recommend them. Hired Waters moving about a year ago for a move for a single family home. We got quotes from 5 different movers, and Waters was one of the 2 that came out to view the house to give a proper quote. They were also the only one who gave us the option for a guaranteed rate meaning that if they finished early, I'd pay the same rate as if it took them longer than 8 hours to do the move (they ended up take 7.5 hours). I thought of this as good protection against paying overtime which I had read about in other reviews. I also didn't want to be in a position to be complaining about movers, potentially, while they still had my stuff. In any case, the Waters people were great. They were on-time, very diligent, and really did their best to accomodate us. I've done manual jobs in college, and they're hard. Moving is especially hard for everyone given time constraints, escrows, payments, etc. I appreciated that the Waters crew made this day go as well as it could. Note that, yea there were a couple of nicks, and a dolly did break something in the hallway, but some of that stuff is expected in my opinion no matter how careful. read more

What can I say. They were professional, courteous, and understanding. We just did a big move from Northern California to Oregon and these guys were the best! After the move I was panicked when I could not locate a few of our more important boxes. The staff walked me through it and I located the boxes. I say, " Great job Waters moving!" Everyone I've dealt with at Waters Moving and Storage has been incredible. I've dealt with movers and storers before and my experience in the past has been that they'll tell you whatever they think you need to hear to get your business. Waters has lived up to their word on every count AND their prices are excellent. Let me tell you about their service. The movers came on time and treated by possessions with respect. I felt confident that was the norm for them. Waters stores your things in wooden crates and I was told that I could access my things whenever I wanted with a little notice (I think they said 24 hours). I called them today because I want to get an item out of my crates. I called at 4PM and the crate will be available to me tomorrow at 11AM. That's service. Then there's the wonderful storage facility. Here's a bit of my experience: One company back in Virginia told me when I asked that they had climate controlled storage. However, when I went with a truck to pick up my things up from storage I learned they were - essentially - in a barn. So, when I needed to store my things this time, I went by to check out the storage facility. It was clean and very well organized. The job was theirs from the start because their reputation was solid with us. They gave an estimate that was close to the final number. They were on time, courteous, caring, and easy to work with. We're in the middle of a major move to Hawaii and enlisted Waters to move the contents of our home into the 20' shipping container. Although the shipping line recommended a 20 footer, we quickly saw we need a larger size! Yet, Mike and Jay under the direction and keen eye of Frank were able to use their experience and skills to load 90-95% of our belongings! Ed came by during the move and offered storage services, if needed (but it wasn't). The company's experience level and customer service helped ease much of the tremendous stress typical of a big move. We were thrilled with our recent move from Walnut Creek to Oakland. Ed came to do the estimate and was thoughtful, friendly, accurate and flexible (it would be a long day for the crew and we had a very small window of time to move into our new place). On the day of the move Jesse, Toki and Faustino arrived on time. They listened carefully to our instructions and began work. They worked tirelessly and efficiently in the hot sun of Walnut Creek and packed up our home of 18 years. They stopped at the storage locker we had rented and deposited our belongings neatly and thoughtfully in the locker. We arrived at our new Condo building on time to move in. It was a long walk from the truck on the street to the elevator, down the hall and into our condo. The team worked hard, displayed care of our possessions (nothing was broken at all) and did the work with good cheer (no matter how tired they were). We highly recommend them. We could not have asked for more - the right team, with the right care, at the right price. I recently hired Waters for the 3rd time in my life. The quotes they give are fair and they are always so nice and understanding which is exactly what you need during such a stressful time. We hired them to move us from Livermore to Brentwood, packing as well as moving. The packing team was a little rough around the edges and packed random items together which made it a little difficult to unpack, but they were very, very nice and packed items in the boxes with care, nothing was broken when we arrived at the new place. A couple days later the moving team came to move us. These guys were awesome. They worked super hard and were very thorough in their job. I was very impressed with how fast they were able to unload everything and how they care for your belongings and your home as much as you do. They are the friendliest, most honest guys and were super focused on making things easy for us. Hopefully we will not be moving for a very long time, but if we ever do, we know who to call. read more

Waters Moving and Storage is an amazing moving company. I have had nightmare moving situations in the past, so I wanted to make sure and report on my positive experience with Waters. The movers were courteous, and treated our stuff like their own. They carefully wrapped all of our wood furniture to prevent damage. With a lot of stuff going up and down stairs I expected some wall damage/scuffs, but they were so careful there was zero damage to fix after the move out! They even brought a very heavy fridge and other appliances down several flights of stairs (we moved out of a walk up), without issue. Rude, inconsiderate. Neighbor using them and not only did they park across my driveway blocking it without asking, they also moved my full trash can out for pickup onto the sidewalk so there was no way for it to be picked up. Geez, if you can move it up on the sidewalk, you can also roll it another 20 ft in front of your truck so it could be picked up. Lucky I noticed it and moved it. While I was moving, one of the movers saw me and asked "do you need to get out" - no apologies for trash can or blocking driveway without permission. Not a very professional company - trucks being used are old and banged up and dirty. First impression of new neighbors is being made by movers and it is not very good. Just noticed they did the same thing with two neighbors across the street blocking their trash cans. read more

First time using water and also the last . Called to schedule a move everything seemed ok but when I went to pick up totes was told I was not on the schedule finally after 20 min of questioning if I had actually called and if I did I did call Waters I finally was told that yes they could do the move as was originally planed but they wanted to see how much stuff we had to move (2 one bedroom apts in the same building) . So it's all good till my girlfriend tells me a couple hours later that she has been told they will not be able to move us . They claim they never said this. The next morning the estimate guy shows up and first thing he tells me is you are not getting moved on Saturday , WTF he has attitude . Well I tell him that I was told I was getting moved on Saturday and if I'm not why is he here , then he decides that I that I will be moved but no way for 1000$ and the 4 hour minimum because first they have to take a lunch and even though we are only moving about 2 miles that is 1 hr off in travel time so 4 hour min is really 2 hrs and 15 min he ends up quoting me 1300 plus to move most of one apt and the bed , couch and 5 boxes out of the other . So we went from a time based rate to a per piece rate . So it never got better they took 6 hours to move us and the estimater told me if I want to switch back to a per hour move that he would also add a fuel surcharge of 12 percent of the total cost. There is more but you get the idea felt scammed by the time it was over but few options on Thursday and need to move Saturday. Luckily it was only 1300$ they won't get another chance from me! read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. This is the worst moving company I have ever used by far. About 50% of my expensive wood furniture got scratched and dinged up. One of my night stands literally looks like it was dragged behind a car. They did not stand behind the damage they did. To top the whole ordeal off they charged me double of what they originally quoted me. They wanted cash and cash only. I had to pay over 3000 dollars in cash. They would not even take a debit card. I used Waters Moving and Storage last year when I moved from one apartment in Concord to another one in Walnut Creek. Waters was outstanding!! They were able to help arrange to move things, by getting what are known as wardrobe boxes for my clothes, ect. They showed up right on time, and had everything out of my old apartment in under an hour, and due to my new apartment being in a larger and enclosed building it took a little longer to move in. But it was all done in about 4 and a half hours or so, and I was greatly impressed with their service, as was my brother and sister-in-law who assisted me with the move, and also helped find Waters with the reviews on here, as well as calling around. If you are planning to move locally (within the Bay Area), I would strongly recommend Waters because they are great!! read more

I would give them more than a 5 star review if it was offered. We moved from a 3700 sq. ft. house to one under 2500. It took 3 moves to get it all, they took most to our new home but also storage, an office and some large items to a third location. They were on time, every time & while they were fast, they were extremely careful. But the reason for more than a 5 star was that they broke a glass on a piece of art. They immediately brought it to our attention & took full responsibility. We had it replaced, sent the bill to them and within a couple of days, had a check. They are the best! read more

I asked for them to come to my home for an in person estimate, but they said it would be the same over the phone. They gave me a range for the price and ultimately it was $500 over the top of the price range. And then they stacked boxes clearly marked "fragile, don't stack anything on top" on the bottom with 2 boxes on top! As a result, some items of sentimental value were damaged. read more
