After sitting on hold for over an hour with no exaggeration five times, I finally waited long enough to talk to somebody to cancel all my service. Apparently they didn't send that off to the billing department because for some reason they keep sending me a bill. I think it's a scam they sell it to you and then they will never answer the phone so that you have to keep paying them until you talk to someone. I'm sure they have some stupid clause that you have to talk to somebody or they won't disconnect. where do I begin!!!!?! I've been with this company for a few years now and I feel like I'm just totally wasting my money but it was the only company I could get at the time. I'm definitely going to leave this company if they don't do something drastic and change their ways! It's just going downhill from the time I started with them and gotten worse. I just got a bill for almost $400 (internet only) because I went over the amount of WiFi I should've used? I've been with wave for awhile and was NEVER told I had to watch how much WiFi I use. I pay for the highest package I can get with my internet service. However, it never ever works. I called and spoke to a woman who then told me they don't garuntee Wi-Fi only Ethernet. Wtf does that even mean. You're an internet service that I cant even use unless I'm sitting right next to the box and even then it barely works. That's ridiculous. I've already had someone out here once to replace a damaged box they installed when I first got service. Three weeks ago, I moved into a new building in Seattle. I am still waiting for WAVE to come set up my TV cable installation. This is unbelievable. An update on my Wave experience: Let me preface this by saying that if there was another option for internet other than Wave at our location we would DEFINITELY switch. After a couple of months of uninterrupted service (a miracle) our internet started going in and out all week. Every call to customer service was more unhelpful than the last, with the most recent customer service agent being condescending and downright rude. He offered us a 12 hour service window AGAIN, which we had to decline because of, you know, work. The call ended with the agent telling us: Well I can't help you. Just keep restarting the modem (which we had already done several times). All I can say is that we are excited to move out of this place soon because that means we can get a new internet service. read more

If I could give Wave less than one star, I would. I moved to WA recently from CA, where I paid $45 a month for internet/wifi service (no cable). I pay about $52 for Wave internet and basic cable. Last month, Wave removed a bunch of channels from my cable and claimed that it was a mistake that I was getting these channels in the first place. They apparently were "under charging" a bunch of other people as well, based on what I've heard. This month my bill is $90 and I've apparently also gone over my gigs (not sure how this is possible since I've used the same amount as last month and the month before that). We were never informed of a price increase. This is purely an attempt to make up for losses of all the "cord cutters" out there who stream their content. This is unlawful price gauging and I'll be contacting the local newspapers and the better business bureau. read more

I have had this cable since it was broadstripe, and pay my bill automatically. The bill went up 10 dollars a month when they took over. I DID get a promotional plan that was less cost then a regular, but now, at the end of that contract period i will be paying another 10 because they've "hooked" me now so no need to offer a discount. They are the only provider for my area. A online "tv guide" that the Broadstripe company had available for the cost you paid now isn't accurate, showing only the old channel numbers, which I have had to print out and pencil in a cross-reference chart so i can go watch a show on the actual channel number. Bottom line is that I'm paying for their plethora of TV ads at the increased rate of 20 per month, and actually getting less (no online tv guide - but oh, that IS available if I rent another box from them). NO benefit to a long term customer whatsoever. On the slight bit of a plus side, internet and tv do seem a tad more reliable than a year ago or so with the old company, but still - hardly justifies my paying 20 dollars more per month. read more

It would be one thing if it was just at our house but it is unreliable for all of our friends, it is unreliable at my work and also my husband's work....ridiculous! Horrible! We recently moved out of the Seattle area and on 6/17/21 I called to close our account. I spoke with Eric and he assured me the shut-down would take place immediately and there was nothing further I needed to do - he had taken care of closing our account. Luckily we kept the equipment (even though he didn't tell me we needed to keep it or return it). We were also set up on auto payment/paperless billing. Jump forward to 7/12/21... We notice $440.93 debited from our account. We didn't receive a bill, and email or a call about the funds be taken from our account so we immediately called wave. I spoke to Kim (helpful and polite) who told me the charge was for equipment not returned. Why didn't Eric tell me to return the equipment? I also tried to understand WHY nearly $500 would be taken from our account without warning. Kim then transferred me to a supervisor, Michelle. Michelle said the representative I spoke with (Eric) never removed the auto payment/paperless billing from our account so the funds were auto pulled. Why didn't Eric do this as part of me cancelling my account? Michelle then cancelled the auto pay for me. What if I am unemployed and I count on that $440 to buy food/live off of?? I need those funds back in my account! Michelle insists there is NO WAY for her to refund me and that I have to wait until all equipment is returned AND checked into their warehouse then wait for my bank to accept the credit from Wave. Michelle then submitted a ticket and I now have a case # to get a "faster refund" (it's now 7/20 and still no refund so submitting "a ticket" really does nothing). Michelle then sent me a Fed Ex shipping label to return our equipment. LUCKILY we are pretty organized and new exactly which moving box the equipment was in. We boxed it up same day and took it to the Fed Ex store. I watched the Fed Ex routing number to verify when the box was received - it was 7/13/21. Jump to today, 7/20/21 and we now see an email statement from wave showing a credit of $338 but where is my additional $102.93? I, AGAIN, call Wave and speak to a supervisor, Cynthia. She says the shortage of funds is because of equipment not returned. We returned our 2 eero's (routers), cables and the modem - everything we had in our home. Cynthia says we have 3 eero's (we only had 2) and until the 3rd one is returned we won't be credited. I insist we only have 2 so she offers to open an investigation. I now have ANOTHER case # to fight for my $102.93. *Approximately a year ago we upgraded from 1 eero to 2 eeros because we had horrible service. The tech insisted we needed 2 brand new eeros that would "work together". Did the tech keep the old eero or throw it out?? Who knows!! Now I wait!! WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT? read more

My husband and I have been customers going back to when the company was RCN. Until 6 months ago, I would rave about their services. Tonight it took 55 minutes for someone to take my call about my bill. In the past 2 months our bill has gone up $100 so it's close to $300 per month now. They tell me my "promotions" expired so... Well, Comcast/Xfinity is offering a 24 month deal that's comparable to what we have now for $140/month PLUS it includes HBO and Showtime which we've never had. If there was anyway to give ZERO stars I would. WAVE recently changed to a "customer care portal" that requires a PIN number to sign up on line. As someone who manages all bills online and paperless, I do not have a hard copy of my bill available. The PIN number is only available on the bill. WAVE suggests calling their customer "service" line - OXYMORON - and after several dropped calls, ineffective prompts and frustration just to get placed in a que, I am now over an hour into trying to get the PIN. I have my account number and all other information and should not have to invest this kind of time just to be able to manage my account on line. What we would give for another option of ISP. Do not purchase Wave. They offered me a price of 19.95 for internet. It is only a promotional price for a certain amount of months. Undisclosed to me, the customer: that it is a promotional price. Undisclosed to me, the customer: the certain amount of months My charge in January 2019 is 19.95. Then, in February 2019, jumps all the way up to 69.95. One of their representatives told us that the only way to know about the price increase is to find it on your bill. That's like giving a cashier $20 for your groceries, then they switch out all your groceries with more expensive groceries, and demand that you pay $70 for those expensive groceries you don't want. So, we canceled the account thinking we are done with them for now and will call again to fix the bill. Now I'm told that to fix the bill, we need to reinstate the account. To do that, they want me to pay the whole balance, which defeats the whole purpose of reinstating. I want to reinstate to fix the rip-off charges, and they want me to pay the rip-off charges to reinstate. I ask that the fee be waived. They refuse, arguing that is the retail cost for them to reinstate the account. I tell them I'm being charged retail cost for something I didn't sign up for. Why are they doing something to me that they won't allow to happen to themselves? My request is to take the 2 incorrect bills down from the hidden fee of 69.95 for Core/Bundled Services to the agreed-upon 19.95 fee for Core/Bundled Services. And for the reinstatement fee to be waived. Please do not use Wave. Businesses need to learn that they do need to treat people honestly in order to continue making a profit. read more

We've got Wave 250 and it's consistently fast for downloads, along with sufficient network infrastructure to result in low latency at all times. They haven't oversold themselves, so the speeds are great at any time of day or night. I will admit, outdated hardware and wiring in our home was initially a bottleneck to achieving high speeds. Over time we went from the 15mbps plan to the 55mbps, then to the 100mbps, and finally to 250mbps. At various points we had to upgrade/replace some stuff to get the speeds advertised. We first had to get Wave's newer modem to support the higher speeds. Next we had to upgrade to a gigabit router. I then replaced the hub providing internet to our TiVo and game consoles, and replaced the Cat5e cabling powering it all. Today, we always get 200mbps+ speeds if the site we're visiting can deliver. Our Wave connection is never the bottleneck anymore. Customer service has always been pretty helpful, and they seem personable when you call on the phone. They're not robots, and they seem genuinely concerned when you call with an issue. They've also worked out some deals for me or added or removed features from my package in order to get us the best combination of services. read more

My cable bill just jumped up $50 without any explanation as to why. I have repeatedly tried to call various Wave phone numbers, and am always on hold in excess of 35 minutes before I give up. I came on Yelp for the first time just for this review. First off I'm in the military I got wifi on base cool I was in Washington temporarily so when I canceled we couldn't leave base do to covid. I asked one of the technicians where we can leave our modems he said leave them in the hotel lobby next to the barracks we were staying cool. Now I'm getting a bill for the modem which the technician said they pick up from there all the time me and like 20 of my buddies all got the same letters that we owe them for a modem. I call wave and then they tell me it was my responsibility to return it when the technician said that's what everyone does it's easier for them. No it's a $60 fee for a technician to pick it up I was so frustrated I just payed my full $134.47 to get it over with so I never have to think about wave again. Beware!!! I had a terrible experience from installation to attempted cancellation. Actual service is fine but the way they operate is shady and illegal at times. Install appointments took weeks longer than confirmed. One guy showed up, poked holes in one wall and then left saying he was checking on something and never came back! When I called to cancel, they pretended to have a bad connection, I called back three times and still was charged for months after they were aware I was no longer using the service. I've heard from several friends this is standard practice for cancels. Pick another option! UPDATE: 1. If you are a business who needs a yelp-specific email address, you should spend more time and money on fixing your awful customer experience. 2. I have already attempted to resolve this with the business and they lied and refused to make it right, hence the original review. Don't know what hell is like? Wonder what it would be like if our country allowed monopolies to exist? Don't worry keep on reading.... So we lived in the First Hill area between the International District and Seattle University. We lived in a town house 2015-2016. One of my roommates had an online business and worked from home. He told me (and I experienced) our Internet would cut out for 4-7 hour periods on at least 24 different occasions during our year lease there. We called them over 20+ times. They go off a classic script (this roommate of mine was a salesman so he could tell). They do stall tactics, pauses, etc. The trick is not to swear at them. If you use curse language they can hang up. As other reviewers mentioned they send technicians, but lie about their time slots. They also give you a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. slot so you have to practically skip work. One of the technicians they sent out told us the trick is to keep calling. Eventually they will give us a reimbursement (only 2 weeks credit for 20 or so calls...). I suggest you play touch and go. Ask them to log your case that you complained and then say you have to go. If you keep your own logs of Internet shut offs they won't even look at it. If you ask for theirs they won't show it to you. However, if that tech came out and you call again he can get fired. So he wanted us to call him before calling them which is a horrible way of punishing your people. I cannot believe how much grief this put my roommate through. Internet in Seattle is so bad Seattle is suing Comcast for $110 million! Something needs to change. People's livelihoods rely on the Internet. It should be treated like a utility like water or electric. However, what happens is Internet companies buy the rights to a block. They get to compete there uncontested. I could not believe our municipality would allow monopolies to exist like that. I have a friend that works for Wave G that services high end apartments. It works great. If you hop over to that yelp page for Wave G it has great reviews. My guess is that since Seattle is building apartments like hotcakes they are investing into that heavily. My more negative guess is that since I lived in a historically "troubled" area they were maliciously throttling our Internet or at least not investing more in our area. That's my two cents. Only on my second day and have been disconnecting every 15 minutes or so. On the first day I tried calling tech support but they were out after 8 pm. Second day I come home at 6 pm and call tech support again, only to be put on hold for 5 minutes before the phone call automatically disconnects. I tried that 3 times before giving up. I signed up for their TV service because Dish was not offering HBO anymore. Trying to call and get a question answered is an ordeal. Wait times are over 30 minutes. I set up to record the Super Bowl because I had to work. When I went to watch it the TiVo program said it was not recorded because it was"not authorized." Also there was a message congratulating NE on their Super Bowl win. Not helpful for those who had recorded the game. After a 40 minute wait I reached a representative who could not explain what "not authorized" meant and that their system was "down" and that if I needed more information I would have to call back. I do not want to waste another 40 minutes trying to get through to some representative that does not know the time of day. Dish was way better than Wave. Really disappointed in these folks. I live in a rural area that does not have many choices of providers. So, per their website, I entered my information, and the site told me a technician would come out to the area and let me know about service within two business days. Guess what? Worst internet experience of my life! I have never been so frustrated by the internet as I have been the last six months. I really miss the days of Comcast! I can't wait to move to a neighborhood that Comcast services. I hate that I have no choice over internet providers. If it's not slow as a snail's pace, then it just straight up does not work. My computer won't even recognize my wireless network when the router is in the next room! Horrible, horrible internet service. It's like going back in time to dial-up. With everything going on in my day-to-day life, kicking back to watch something on Netflix or Hulu should NOT cause added frustration and stress. Eleven, yes 11, complete outage failures in 3 days. Noticed while watching a couple of Facebook videos froze several times intermittently. Being suspect about the connectivity of service, I subscribed to a network management company to monitor the public IP. Pasted below are the number of outages that exceeded a full minute (60 sec). This does not even account for the intermittent latency in between outages that are not reported which cause applications to freeze. I've never seen this level of service ever allowed to paying customers. If you rely on network service because you work at home, make sure you do not live in a place that is serviced by this company.
