Our cocktails were strong and delish, and the bar was comfortable for long term seating (some really aren't these days!) We only had 2 appetizers but they were both extremely flavorful: the pork belly was crispy and melt in your mouth. The duck fat potatoes were quite good. The ambience is chic but friendly. We easily chatted up the folks sitting near us. We never felt rushed. And my biggest pet peeve was addressed nicely: The music playing overhead and general acoustic "design" was such that I didn't have to scream to my partner to be heard. It's been a while since we've been out given everything going on with Covid. This was a delight of an experience for my wife and I. The drinks were good, beer cheese pretzel for a starter was on point with an exceptionally creamy cheese, and the entrees were in line with the great experience. If you go and they are running the Kobe meat loaf, don't think twice about it. Was way above pace with what I had imagined, moist and super flavorful. The fig jam and bacon complimented it well. This place used to be the 8th st grille location, and now has changed ownership. I stopped by with a friend for lunch around 1pm on a Saturday, so it wasn't too busy. Lots of seating and staff was friendly and attentive. Seated right away. The food was good! There's a wide variety with a few options that had an Asian flare to it, which I enjoyed. We ordered the chicken banh nan and a pulled chicken banh mi style sandwich (the bread was soft, with just a light crisp on the edges - really tasty!). Walked by this place on Saturday evening as we could not get into the other two popular restaurants in downtown without 1.5 hr wait time. The host was very nice and asked us to wait only 15 min if we were ok with sitting outdoor. The octopus appetizer was interesting. The burger was big portion size with decent flavor but I was slightly disappointed at the scallops in ramen as it's a bit salty. If you will order drinks then the wait time for food would not feel too bad for you. read more

We walk 8st often and stop into restaurants for a drink or an App. We ALWAYS skip Waverly Stone even though it is not often busy. Saturday night we thought we would try again. It had been several years and we were looking for a good Mojito. Sat at the bar, Asked bartender if he could make a Mojito. He said YES, Ill be back to take your order. GREAT! We sat there for 15 min no order was taken - The manager was at the bar talking to the servers, telling them they did a great job tonight etc. not noticing that we had not been severed. I got the Pulled Bacon Po' Boy and my friend got the Bahn Naan. Both were fabulous and would definitely get them again. (Although we decided those particular sandwiches were not first-date food. Messy!) When given the option of fries or fresh vegetable mix for the side, we asked if the vegetables were cooked. We were told they are cooked, but were both disappointed when they came raw. While still very delicious (there was some kind of seasoning on them) it wasn't what we would have preferred. I felt like our young waiter may have been fairly new on the job so maybe he's still figuring things out, especially for a new restaurant. I like the cleaner, more minimalist decor. It's a nice, bright space without a lot of clutter. The menu has a nice variety of selections; it was hard to decide what to get! We'll definitely need to go back! Overall it was a great experience. The people were very friendly and attentive, the food was good, the atmosphere was nice, and even though they were fairly busy it wasn't so loud we had to shout at each other. We really enjoyed this restaurant! We sat outside due to Covid and even though they didn't have heaters, we were fine in our sweaters. Dinner started off well and all of our drinks were delicious. I had the scallops with ramen and they were delicious and really seasoned well. It's a spicy dish and sometimes I find people use "spice" as a flavor versus creating a spicy dish with robust flavor. This was really done well and I appreciated all the different notes in the noodles. The scallops were also cooked to perfection. My mom had the salmon and said it was really good too. She especially loved the side vegetables. My husband had the hanger steak and unfortunately it was under cooked. He has asked for medium and it was really rare in the center. He had to send it back to have it recooked, which he's never done in his entire life. The restaurant handled it really well and his second one came out perfectly cooked and he really loved it. We also had the fries and whipped goat cheese for appetizers. Our kids gobbled up the fried, which were nice, cut fries. My mom loved the whipped goat cheese so much she was just eating it with her fork after the bread was gone. There were two things I wish were different. They have only about 3 appetizers and then something called "small plates", which included a salad but are more like appetizers. I wish the actual appetizer selection was expanded. The kids menu is also poor. Cheese burger, regular burger or Mac and cheese that was basically Kraft Mac and Cheese. My kids are fairly picky so they were fine with the Mac and Cheese, but it didn't come with any kind of side like fruit or raw veggies. Sad to give them a 4 star review when the service was top notch. - we had two big dogs and they were extremely nice and accommodated us in the corner patio which really helped with the dogs standing still. - unfortunately, their curry chicken sandwich in a naan, tastes like mustard chicken wrap and not even good mustard. They even have it highlighted as a local favorite, but is it ? Do even - their burgers bread is kind of weird. We made an online reservation which is very convenient. We sat outside and it was a very nice inside and out. The service was a little slow, I received my side salad before we even got our drinks. Once they arrived the beer and cocktails were amazing. My fiancé ordered the pulled pork sandwich and fries and it was very delicious . I ordered the chicken pasta dish and honestly it was very bland. The pasta was not what I expected and the chicken breast did not have much flavor. We were looking for a place to have dinner on our last night at Holland, MI- we don't have reservations, but the wait was not very long. As you enter the restaurant the ambiance was very calm, it's also busy, but the restaurant seemed to make an effort to accommodate everyone even during this challenging time of pandemic. The wait staff seemed attentive, very nice and friendly. There's no physical menu available, but you can check it online- there was a bar code you can scan with your phone on the table. I think this is smart specially now that we are so weary of the virus- you don't know or even think where everyone's hand were. The menu was simple and interesting, I notice that it's a fusion and more like Japanese inspired which I love. We started with the waverly ale cheese with a giant pretzel. It was heavenly- the pretzel was so soft and tasty, and the cheese was so good. You have to come and try it yourself. I know you won't regret it. For my main meal, I ordered the salmon salad- also delicious. I was enjoying my food so much I forgot to take a picture of my husband's meal- her ordered chorizo smash burger for change and it comes with fries. He said it had an interesting taste, but he enjoyed it. The serving sizes of the food are good for two, but I consumed mine with gusto- the dressing I choose was different: mango vinaigrette but once my taste buds adjusted to the tangy taste they all started rejoicing. My husband burger was huge, he only ate half of it and asked for a box, and of course he ate his left over for midnight snack. Th wait staff were all very nice and makes you feel welcome, the manager stopped by our table to check on us, and we ended up chatting. That seemed really nice. Oh, I forgot- this is a locally family owned business which give you a hint to try it out since it's one of a kind not franchised from a big company. The good part when it's time to pay, the restaurant gives military discount. I did not even asked, but my husband was wearing one of his famous retired hats. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon for lunch. At 1:00 they were pretty empty but the place filled up quickly. We ordered the Italian Beef sandwich and were not disappointed. It was delicious! Had plenty of tender roast beef and the au jus was tasty and not over salted as many are these days. And the fries were crispy and well seasoned. Had a nice glass of wine as well. Very long wait even for simple draft beers. It took over an hour to get our food which was not great. Fries were cold and the pork belly rice bowl I ordered was barely edible. We came here after a long drive up to Holland from Chicago - and were really hungry. They had a great burger, but the rest of the items we got were nothing to write home about. Been here a couple times now over a few year period on vaca in southwest Michigan. Very good. I ordered the cheeseburger the first time which was excellent. Today I had the mushroom ravioli appetizer as my lunch. Wonderful. Veggies and Giardinara in marinara sauce. Quite good. Two of us ordered the special farmers market pasta with heirloom tomato and linguine and other vegetables. Also great. My wife had the poached salmon and risotto with asparagus. I tasted some it was super. Finally we had the mushroom pita which was similar to my ravioli and very good. Sprecher's root beer and a few farmers market cocktails which were vodka blueberry simple syrup lime and soda water. Quite tasty. I would say this is a moderately priced place. You'll pay about $25-$35 a person out the door. Our tab was higher as we had a few adult beverages. Service was very good and it's just a great place. We've returned once and will again. What a great find! We had dinner here while in Holland last week. Our server, Esther, was phenomenal. Extremely attentive and helpful with our selections, great personality and made dining enjoyable. They have an amazing cocktail selection which is rotated regularly and full of unique and delicious drinks. We didn't get the bartender's name but he was excellent and dropped by to check how we liked the drinks. We tried the Spanish Fly, What's Up Doc and St. Steve's Sour and they were all fantastic. For dinner we shared the Mahi Mahi and the Scallops and they were both so good. The ambience was great here, high ceilings and spaced out tables, so it wasn't too loud and we could talk. We will definitely return when in Holland and highly recommend checking it out. read more

Had dinner here tonight on the recommendation of a friend. Apparently he's smarter than he looks because it was great! Our server, Dominick, was very helpful answering the free questions e we had.
