Good, diverse selection of products. Friendly staff. This is a good one stop shop while at the beach. You will find many of your beach needs. They carry a wide variety of items - to give you an idea we purchased match light charcoal, beer, wine, seltzers, ice cream, gelato, cheese, crackers, snacks, candy, tanning oil, cocktail sauce, bbq sauce. They also have an area to purchase deli sandwiches (we just didn't get a chance to sample those). The people that worked there were always super friendly. When rating it I originally was going to give 4 stars but then I couldn't really think of a way for them to improve. It is after all a deli / market and carried far more items than I thought a deli carried. I never felt like it was overpriced, and I thought the staff was super helpful and friendly - so I upped it from a 4 to a 5. It's worth the visit if you missed buying a think or two at the grocery store. read more

Their crab cakes are the BEST with no filler, their scallops and clams were incredibly delicious, and for what they charged compared to any grocery store their prices are fantastic. Great little market to get food supplies in the tri-villages without driving all the way into Avon. They also have some craft beer and wine. They also have various hot and cold sandwiches that sound very good, but I cannot comment on them as I've not tried them yet. read more

This place is AMAZING! As soon as we got into town, we stopped at this little store to stock up on some essentials because we came completely unprepared. 1. Great selection of beer and wine!! You won't be disappointed! 2. Had all the essentials for camping that you'd need if you forgot. 3. THE FOOD AND DELI PORTION! This is very notable! First off, Gram, who I believe is the owner, gave us the rundown of all the favorites and theory behind their food. They bake all of their bread fresh daily and he said most the food is his grandma's recipes. We didn't ask for a rundown, but he gladly told us all about how they function and make everything fresh. Loved the history behind it. What we tried: a) pig pen: was good, but not great. I love a Carolina style bbq but I really couldn't taste any vinegar. It seemed to need a sauce, and the bun was a little big too much, and maybe that's what made it seem dry. b) hand-cut fries with white sauce: if you don't get these, you're wrong! I honestly think these are the BEST fries I've ever had. The white sauce is bomb, but even by themselves, they're a treat! And I've never been into thick cut fries, but these are a treat from heaven (or should I say Gram?!) c) nachos (non-meat): we ordered these consecutively. They were killer! I didn't do meat, bc my sister is a pescatarian, so I figured I'd skip the meat so we could share, and I don't think I was missing out. These nachos are juicy, flavorful, and big enough to share. d) veggie burger: my sister really enjoyed this burger. Made in house. e) cosmic Charlie: delish for vegetarians. But I'd go nachos or bean burrito over it again. Still fresh and yum! f) bean burrito: dooooo it! So amazing! I wish we hadn't ordered so much food, because we saved half the burrito for the next day, but it got soggy in the cooler :( g) steak burrito: delicious! Very satisfying!! h) potato salad: seems simple, but OMG it was so good. At $7.99/lb, it seems a little pricey when a medium container comes out to be $10, BUT it goes a long way! We pounded the first container and went back the next day for another. We couldn't figure out what flavors stood out, as it seemed so simple, but it was soooo delicious and creamy. Whatever Gram's grandmothers recipe is, it's amazing! Definitely get some! Overall, I think they shine with their Mexican food, but everything was great! The day we left, we had intended to stop at a food truck on the way out of town, but realized they were closed on Monday's. We were so sad that we didn't turn around and go back to waves for a 4th time, but we had a flight to catch and couldn't back track! Thanks for the hospitality, Gram! We can't wait to be back in town, and eat more of your delicious food! I wish I had pictures to upload, but just trust that your tastebuds will be so happy. read more

I live on Hatteras Island and go here frequently. They have the best deli sandwich's plus deli meats, cheeses and sometimes steaks. Their market is filled with specialty items, including beer and wine. This market and deli really deserves a 10 star! read more

Have had several sandwiches here. Most are good but not all. The deli staff is friendly. However, there is an elderly woman working as the front cashier and she is one of the most unpleasant individuals I have come across in a while. Unnecessarily rude and condescending. I would continue to come back for the food, But not if I have to deal with her. And this has happened on more than one occasion so it is not an isolated incident. Good luck! read more

I wouldn't eat here if I was starving. I walked in there tonight, after a long drive, and trying for two hours to get dinner for our house. I walked in the exit door...my mistake. The clerk at the front scolded me loudly, which I was embarrassed. I could have handled that, I was wrong. But then she proceeded to make fun of me, very loudly, with the customer she was waiting on. They both got a good laugh. At that point I decided to leave, but the man followed me outside and continued to make fun of me for not seeing a sign on the door. I was with my daughter... It was just unnecessary and completely perpetuated by the rude clerk. I work in customer service in the food industry, so I understand people can be annoying during this time when they're not following directions, but I would never treat someone like that. I run a bed and breakfast half a mile from here and eat at the Deli myself at LEAST 2 times a week. I send my guests and they come back and eat here at my picnic tables enjoying the water view. The Burritos are a fav of everyone, both the breakfast burrito which my son eats several times a week and the regular ones. GIANT and Delicious especially if you love avadcaco. ( have fries not rice inside) But, I love the burgers. Best on the island! The fry orders are big enough for 3 to share, seriously. You can get a half order if alone which I do. And, at Sea la Vie bed and breakfast I get a lot of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free guests. They will make anything special for you if you ask. Salad is not on the menu but I frequently get a big chef salad here with whatever I feel like. 1 hint; call ahead so you don't have to wait then look for a bag with your name on it behind the register. Sometimes they don't tell you your order is already there. Just saves time. Love that you can mix and match a 6 pack. They carry a pizza sauce I can't find ANYWHERE but in Baltimore, in season have girl scout cookies and lots of unusual things so stroll around while you wait. It's fun. I did some research before we arrived. This deli was very close to the house. Good place to run for a gallon of milk or eggs. DONT DO IT. Milk is 6 bucks a gallon. Unfortunately the cashier didn't speak English very well and I had difficulty trying to find a contact lens case. (Didn't have) The store does have a fresh deli in the back and isles of things you always forget when you're on vacation. So for that reason and the great beer and liquor selection is why I'm giving 2 stars. Across the street is dollar general and it's on steroids. More than a dollar general you've ever been in. Go there first. Then drive to Avon to the Food Lion. Use this place as a last resort. Family vacations are expensive and it's sad this place does business this way. read more

This was my saving grace of a find while staying for a week in Rodanthe! Wish I discovered this gem before trucking 20 min south to the Avon Food Lion (which was a mob scene). Waves has a great selection of goods, Boars Head, alcohol, everyday essentials; have stopped here everyday on my vacation. Music is playing, local beach artwork sold and incorporated into the store decor. Ate here for breakfast on our way through to Ocracoke and got the most amazing breakfast sandwiches. We got a bacon,egg, and cheese on ciabatta bread and a sausage, egg and cheese on ciabatta bread. Both were $3 each, but $1 extra for the ciabatta. I however, wish the girl at the register had told us that it was a dollar extra. She failed to mention when she took our order and we ended up being surprised at the total when we paid. It was well worth it, because both were AMAZING. We were located right down the road from this place. It was def handy for some things we had forgotten but Honestly, its also a tad more expensive due to its isolated location in Salvo and almost felt like it was a "Convenience fee up charge" for shopping there. You can also find ALOT more things at the Dollar General across the Street from this location, Even things you thought their was no way you would find them there lol. The Market was clean and the staff were super friendly! The food was great and they have a good variety of sandwiches, fries, and onion rings on the menu. There are also some vintage pinball machines and arcade games along one of the walls. Great local place! Went here for a late night meal. Only thing open around Rodanthe that is open till 12. All the other places closed at 9. Serves hot and cold sandwiches. It's as well a convenient store where you can get beer and other snacks. I got the mr. Hermann sandwich which has is a corn beef sandwich with sauerkraut and 1000 island dressing. It was good. Friends got the quesdilla, breakfast burrito and steak burrito. Was told all were good. Had the home made fries with white sauce which was good as well. Nice and crispy even after our ride home.
