Not great. I've been to a few waxing places in my lifetime and this may be scraping the bottom of the barrel. I'm surprised by the glowing reviews. This place does not deserve 5 stars and barely up to 4. Granted, I didn't get Nikki or whoever on my first visit. It was a Sunday and there was only one person manning the whole operation. A place like this cannot operate like this successfully. I felt bad for her and left her a decent tip. But I'll never come back. People may feel that the very bad service is justified by what you pay for but I've been to similarly operated locations (Maya Salon being one) but this was horrible. Got a Brazilian and underarm and both were rushed. She left wax on me. Hair was still left behind very obviously speckling my skin. Underarms aren't that hard to wax, you know? I was surprised by the lack of consideration and lack of attention detail. She didn't try to QC anything. Probably the first and last time I will ever come here. No one wants to feel like they're just a part of a production line. Management needs to get more people operating this place on weekends and make sure people keep to their appointments. read more

Holy crap. Worst waxing experience ever. I read the reviews about this place and they seem to be so positive, lots of 5 stars. I do NOT get why people rave about it so much at all. The place is so tiny and does not look pristine. The ladies spoke in their own language and did not greet me. The person who performed the Brazilian wax had strong hands. She was quick but it was absolutely PAINFUL. I get waxes on a regular basis and it was never this level of discomfort. With that said, she also didn't perform a good job - there were still hair left behind. I'm not a perfectionist - it was just such a sloppy job she did. Came back for a deep bikini chocolate wax last night (be sure to make an appointment or your wait might be a bit long!) and I am 110% satisfied! Definitely the least painful wax I've ever had. My skin is super sensitive to waxed and I've never had a reaction to their chocolate wax. The place is small so you might very well walk straight past it and have to double back. It smells like chocolate as soon as you walk in. It's very neat and clean in there. and I believe it's Nikki who waxes me every time. She is great! Tries to inflict the least amount of pain as possible. Love this place and their service! In the past I've had bad experiences with wax techs and this place is no where near in comparison. My first highlight is that they ALWAYS scoop out your personal wax. I've never seen them double dip and that's BIG! Second the lady's are nice with great technique. Let me start off by saying, WOW. lol. I have been getting Brazilians for about 5 years now and that old saying about how 'it starts to hurt less' was always total B.S. to me. It never hurt less. It was just a necessary evil. Well that officially changed last week when I got a chocolate wax with Shallu at Waxing Studio. I found them on Groupon and was skeptical about trying it out but after reading reviews and the unbeatable price ($18+ tax after years of paying over 40 bucks) was hard to pass up. I didn't have an appt. but she accommodated me quickly and again, WOW. The least painful wax i've ever had in my life. no throbbing, no irritation. I have sensitive skin and this was the best thing that ever happened to me. Never thought a waxing experience could make me so happy , lol. Anyway this place has been packed and I notice that she is rushing now. The first time she took her time and was thorough. This second time around was a disaster. I've been here thrice, and my final answer is three stars. To start off with, this place is pretty small but also poppin' since they offer pretty good cheap waxes, especially Brazilians. As a result, I think the lady ends up double booking, maybe even triple booking. There is only one wax room, as far as I know, but I see multiple people walking in with the same reservation time. Even if you come at your scheduled time, you probably will end up waiting anyway since someone else will have the same scheduled time as you. That bugs me a bit. Some people like having conversation when they are waxed, and I generally don't mind, but I felt that she asked invasive questions. Kind of like your nosy distant relative that doesn't really need to ask you ten billion questions, but does so anyway. I was also chided when the second time I came because it wasn't within the recommended three week period. (Sorry for having finals and caring more about my grades than the physical appearance of my body.) The wax itself is decent, but I will say that my third time here was not a great experience. It was pretty painful (and I am pretty pain tolerant), and I was really sensitive for about two days after. Afterwards, I also realized that a lot of spots were missed, and my hair grew back within a week instead of the usual two and half/three weeks for me. I'm not really sure what happened, and I also don't think that this experience is necessarily reflective of their work as a whole. It was also not Nikki (the owner) who waxed me this time around. Aside from my third time here, the waxes have been a quick, no frills thing. This is a no-frills Waxing spot that uses "chocolate" wax which made my skin burn hours later. Pros: Price. Brazilians are normally upwards of 30. Here you can get a member card where your waxes will stay 18$. The wait was a reasonable length, I had an appointment on a weekday evening. The waxers are nice people. The location is very convenient to me. Cons: I didn't like their Brazilian "method." Basically the waxer brings a disposable pot of wax from a bigger wax pot. She uses one stick to apply wax throughout the process. She was wearing only one glove. This ended up being quite messy, and the stick was constantly catching my skin and was very sticky which made it more painful. She waxed my skin in the same area a few times, because it was stuck on my skin the first time. It was more painful than most of my waxes. The consistency of the wax looked too thin. The "chocolate" wax itself was extremely irritating to my skin. I don't know what's in it but it wasn't good. When I went to pee a few hours later, my skin was irritated and burned during urination. This has never happened before! 6 hours later I am nervous to pee and I'm sore. I tried applying lotion to calm it down and it burned so bad I stood in front of a fan for a few minutes TL;DR: I would return here if I knew this wouldn't irritate my skin. The brief version: able to accommodate on short notice, very friendly and efficient staff, amazing prices. Cash only for the $18 brazilian! Nikky runs this place with the utmost efficiency, warmth, and courtesy. She is super friendly and nice, feels like the cool aunt type. Even though she was extremely busy on a Saturday afternoon she managed to squeeze me in and I hardly waited for a Brazilian wax. The chocolate wax she uses is less painful and also causes less ingrown hairs, she explained. It definitely was less painful and I can't attest to the less ingrown hair part quite yet but I can say it smells delicious and put me in a really good mood. Cacao is known to be a mood booster and it made the experience feel more luxurious. An $18 brazilian is absolutely unheard of, unless they are running some shady business. I am haply to report that Nikky changed all the paper on the table, washed her hands, and only uses small batches of wax to avoid contamination. Trust me, it's not worth saving a few bucks and risking an infection, but this place offers a great price and peace of mind. I came here to use a groupon for a chocolate brazilian wax. The place was clean and Nikki was super friendly, however I dont think I will be going back. Pros: The prices are reasonable. Studio was clean. Nikki is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable. No double dip--you get your own cup of wax Most of the hair was removed. She did a good job on waxing my legs. Cons: -She did not hold the skin taut as she was ripping off the strips. This made things more painful than it needed to be. To be fair it had been a few months since I had last waxed, so the hairs were long and thick. In the past, after going a long time without waxing, I did not have any pain or issues with waxing as they were at this location. --I was scabbed and irritated for a few days after this session. Without going into graphic detail, I was burning for the rest of the evening and there were places that were scabbed and irritated that shouldnt be. Ive NEVER had scabbing or hours of burning or irritation after a brazilian wax. ---she missed the upper part of my rear. I think this is because she asks you to lift your legs up while she waxes your bum opposed to making you turn over and spread your cheeks like every other place that Ive been to. Now some folks may think it was the wax that caused irritation. This could be the case since it was my 1st time using a chocolate wax. However Ive had NUMEROUS brazilians and the methods that she used to wax me were pretty brutal. I've come for a Brazilian here before and it was okay but I came recently for an armpit wax. Some of my hair was short and the woman said some of it can't all be pulled out. I assumed she could tweeze it, but no. Instead she waxed it over and over again 3-4 times and it was so painful after. I thought it was alright and normal for a wax but I developed scabs or something a couple days laters and saw that the wax actually did irritate me badly. I didn't notice it until I was doing my hair and my sister asked me what happened. Your skin should not be waxed that many times. I asked her to tweeze and she said no she doesn't have tweezers. This place is amazing, and Nikki is my go-to now. But be wary! They are busy all of the time, so make an appointment or don't be upset when they seem miffed that you're messing with their flow, like I've done countless times. The cheap prices and stellar quality are worth everything, and - considering a Brazilian takes 7 minutes tops - it is easy to call in ahead of time so you and they can get you in and out as efficiently as possible. Also, listen to Nikki when she says come back in three weeks. After my first wax, I was tentative to go back and, thus, waited about 5 weeks instead. I found this little gem on Groupon. There's a special going on for a $17 chocolate wax, so I figured why not? After reading WSNYC's Yelp reviews I was automatically convinced that I had to try this place out. Now, I am not one to get brazilians all of the time, so listen to me when I say Nikky's hands are blessed. She made me feel SO comfortable during my time there and was very precise upon cleaning. My skin is usually very irritated after waxes, but when I say this is the BEST I've EVER felt. It's the chocolate wax I tell you! There's something inside of the cocoa that is soothing to the skin and only pulls the hair. (At least that's what Nikky told me, lol) And did I mention that I was 10 minutes late to my appointment and she still saw me as soon as I walked in! Excellent service! Excellent conversation! First off, this place is not like one of those fancy wax places where they serve you cucumber infused water and all the walls are white, covered in hairless models touching their hairless legs. This place is small - 2 rooms for waxing, 2 chairs in front of the mirror, and 4 waiting chairs - that's it. However, the wax is awesome. The ladies are nice and VERY fast, but if it's your first time getting a wax ever you should tell them. Otherwise, they'll tell you "head over there, feet by door," couple of strips and the smell of chocolate later, you're out of the room. I had a Brazilian wax and upper lip all done and paid for in 20 minutes. Highly recommend them if you want speed and a great deal, not if you're looking to be pampered. read more

Found out about this place because I was scouring Groupon for some deals on waxing. They had a $17 deal on a brazilian chocolate wax so I thought I'd give it a shot. Gotta say that the chocolate wax was pretty good. Definitely not as sticky as the honey wax and barely leaves any residue. I also noticed that it's better for sensitive skin. Left the waxing studio feeling absolutely wonderful. And the icing on the cake is Nikky. She's awesome! Super personable, super friendly and she makes you feel at ease. I honestly don't get why the other reviews are so positive. I had a Brazilian wax here yesterday and SHE RIPPED MY SKIN OFF! This has never happened in 10 years of waxing. The area is now incredibly sore and swollen. But above all the place is dirty, cramped and the staff is not friendly, demanding for a high tip. Couldn't recommend this place less. Nikki is still awesome, (shalu is great at threading) but I'll have to take out three stars because this place is becoming too big for its own good. I booked an appointment 3 days in advance for almost full body waxing and full face threading and they put me in a 15 minute slot. 15 minutes is barely enough for Brazilian, let alone full body+full face. And on top of this, they kept on trying to accommodate more and more walk in Brazilian wax customers. It seemed like they are prioritizing quantity over quality, and there is a rush to get everyone out of the door. No wonder I had to cut down on the services I required, and given that I was traveling the day after, I could not get an appointment anywhere else for the remaining services. I understand that their services are reasonable and Brazilian is more lucrative for them as they can take more customers in less time, but if they want to focus on only Brazilian, then they should stop giving appointments for anything else at all. I cannot go to a studio this far only to get Brazilian done, I have another small studio near my house for this. So all in all, book an appointment, be ready for a wait, and mostly go for only Brazilian. read more
