My husband and I recently visited Wayback Burgers in Nashville, and we had such a great experience! The owner was there and was incredibly kind. He personally told everyone to have a great day on their way out, which made the whole place feel welcoming and intentional. The restaurant was very clean -- and I mean actually clean. The floors didn't have that weird oily or sticky feeling that some restaurants have. Everything, including the drink dispenser, was spotless and working properly. I really appreciated that you can order face to face or through a kiosk. The kiosk option is especially nice for people who deal with anxiety. Just a tip -- if you order at the kiosk, you'll need to ask for your drink cups while you wait for your food. I ordered the Classic Burger combo, and it was hands down the best burger I've ever eaten. The bun was soft without being soggy, the burger itself was juicy and full of flavor, and everything tasted fresh. The burgers and fries are made to order, which really makes a difference. It was mildly busy, and it only took about 8 minutes for our two combo meals. The décor was super cute, with fun 1990s vibes that matched the Wayback theme perfectly. Hubby grabbed this for me and I gotta say the milkshake was AMAZING. The cinnamon flavor all throughout was fantastic and the topping of cinnamon toast crunch was just the best. It's one of the best milkshakes I've had at a fast food place. I would come back just for that milkshake or to try others. But the food was just ok. I don't like buffalo chicken anywhere so I'm not surprised I didn't like the sandwich here. Whatever burger hubby got (he didn't remember the name) was just ok. This Wayback Burgers is located in the front part of the shopping center that is home to Loews, Walmart, WingStop and Little Caesars on Charlotte Pike in the west end. While WB is a worldwide burger chain, this was our first time enjoying...and we have lived near for a few months now! We ordered through the site and the process was pretty seamless and fairly easy. I ended up going with the classic double bacon cheeseburger sided with tater tots, while the partner went with the buffalo chicken tenders and fries. The site said it would take about 15 minutes from order to prepared, and I showed up a few minutes early and they were just finishing up the order. Everything is cooked to order, so the food was certainly hot and fresh, and that bun was soft! I enjoyed the burger and while the tot order seemed a tad small, they were crispy and solid tots. The tenders were clearly frozen tenders tossed in buffalo sauce, but what do you expect from a spot that focuses on burgers! Either way, my partner still enjoyed the tenders and fries! Service was solid as I was greeted immediately upon entry by the owner who let me know they were almost ready for me and that he appreciated the business. The inside was clean and organized as well. Overall, no complaints. The service was weird. The chef and another worker were loudly yelling at each other in another language in the back. The person on the register didn't speak much English to the point it was difficult to order from him. Instead of telling me they were out of cinnamon toast crunch for the milkshake, someone actually ran to the store to get it. While I sat there with the rest of my order. Waiting. I came in tonight to use my happy birthday shake points and was told that they were not able to accept the rewards or anything in their store , (which was a little frustrating ) with that being SAID they did make a point to compensate not being able to use the points and still help me out . So that no one else is confused like I was when it comes to using the points in store, save yourself the headache and order it online to redeem! The food here is delicious and anytime I've had an issue they have went out of their way to fix it . They certainly go above and beyond despite customers frustrations . I was in a rush that should summon all up. Saw the sign pictures look great. Got a double bacon burger definitely way overpriced. And if you look at these previous reviews... it was drier then the Sahara desert. Bacon was great fresh cooked that gave you a lot of it. The big problem was the bun. It crumbles it falls apart. It gets soggy. It's a weak bun get a real bun or toast the bun, but that was the most disappointing part crumbling bun really on a burgerfirst and last time I'll ever step foot into one of these places. "Yasser" smiled and greeted each of us as we came in, which really set the tone for another great experience. VERY refreshing considering the current climate of fast food. He gave us a small walk through of the menu with good suggestions and details. My daughter and I both got the classic, my wife got the "Big Easy." My reviews generally cover restaurants or businesses I choose, but on this particular occasion, my wife saw the sign for Wayback and suggested we try it. I'm glad she did. To begin, this is not fast food...it is individually prepared sandwiches and fixings, so be prepared for at least a short wait. Ours might have been 10 minutes or so. Nonetheless, the wait was worth it. My wife is a hot dog devotee and this day she was not disappointed with her nicely grilled, split-lengthwise dog on a toasted bun. I, on. the other hand, am not only a dog lover, I'm a bonafide hamburger hound too. And this, fairly greasy, dripping down my hand double-patty fistful of beef on a pretzel bun was a delight. Cooked just right, topped with cheese and sauce and grilled onions, this did that me back to many days of yore--gobbling a burger with friends in a variety of locales. One little flaw was that the bun was dry; toasted - yes, but still way--dry. The house chips are crispy not oily and would go well with dip (didn't see it if it is available.) Drinks - standard fare fountain sodas and magnificent milkshakes. If you are a bit nostalgic or longing for days-gone-by and your favorite drive-in or soda fountain with good food at a reasonable price, then you should make your way to Wayback Burgers read more

My 1st time visiting this restaurant I ordered on the kiosk, which was very simple and easy! However I observed an employee with gloves on scratch his nose (with the gloves on) and preceded to prepare food. He then walked over to the front door and pushed the door open by the handle with the same gloves on. Left the door the went over and grabbed a clear container with uncooked fries in them and put them in a fry basket (with the same gloves on. I'm in hopes that they were trained to practice healthy practices, but I'm pretty certain that this is done on a regular basis (from this employee) I didn't get his name, but he was a young guy and he wore glasses. I will never make my way back to wayback burgers. I only gave 3 stars instead of 1 or 2 because it is Delicious but problem is it's consistently slow and their inaccurate wait time This was my third or fourth time trying this place. The first time we went in person, then we ordered once through door dash, and two times tried to order ahead and selected the pick up option. Every single time I have been let down with the time it takes to make a burger!? I honestly cannot even give all the details because I get incredibly Frustrated just thinking about it. Let's just say this last time was the final straw. Knowing how long they take, I thought to myself, "As long as I order it before I leave work. That'll give them plenty of time to make it and it'll be ready or at least minimal wait time" since I was wanting to get home after a long day at work. What happened when I walked up to the register...!? They had to call their manager to get approval to BEGIN making it. I asked, "did you guys not receive the order?" He mumbled something like, "no I didn't but let me call someone." Then when he was on the phone he said, "yeah, okay I'll make it." I asked if he needed me to tell him what was on the order since he said he didn't get it. Turns out he was lying and said, "oh no. We got it. We're going to make it right now. Give us 10 minutes" No explanation for why in the heck they didn't make it when they first got it when I placed the order 20 minutes earlier! I had already paid for it on door dash so I thought, okay fine I can wait 10 minutes. Well, I should have known it would NOT be 10 minutes, but more like 30! I waited an additional 30 minutes even though I ordered ahead because they didn't make my order when they go it and apparently they are SO INCREDIBLY SLOW, I waited longer than I would have at a fine dining establishment. No, it wasn't busy and apparently they weren't making door dash orders, so what was the hold up? I will never know because I will never return. I only recommend this place if you have All the time in the world and don't care how long your wait will be. It will be at least 2X if not 3X as long as they quote you. It doesn't matter who is working, they cannot get a burger out under 10 minutes. It's sad because we enjoy the taste. But I can't put up with mediocrity when there are so many good places to choose from in Nashville. You are such a disappointment Wayback. read more

Classic, delicious, no-nonsense burger place. I ordered the guacamole burger at Wayback and was not disappointed. Although our order took longer than at typical, more commercialzied quick service restaurants, it was well worth the extra 10 minutes or so. The buns were soft, fluffy, and not at all soggy. I found their guac perfectly tangy and complementary to the juicy, grilled burger. Surprisingly, I didn't feel at all heavy after eating this meal, and the others at my table felt the same. We even demolished an order of chili cheese fries between us. That side order was also delicious, and it tasted like they made their chili with plenty of seasoning (rather than just a standard meat sauce). Since we were curious about the shakes, we ordered an Oreo and an Oreo Mudslide. The differences were subtle, but the mudslide tasted slighlty more chocolatey and malted. Both were delicious, but the straws they use are a bit too small for the thick shake. Otherwise, no complaints about the creamy desserts! I highly recommend frequenting Wayback Burgers. The man behind the counter gave us a friendly welcome and took the time to explain the menu to us. My hubby ordered a double bacon burger, and I created my own burger. We also had an order of fries with cheese and bacon as well as an order of onion rings to share. Our burgers were yummy and we both enjoyed them. The loaded fries had melted cheese on top and two slices of bacon, and they were not really what I was expecting, but the onion rings were perfection! They have really tasty hamburgers with a variety of toppings and signature burgers. It's somewhat of a hit-n-miss when it comes to customer service. The first couple of times I was greeted and the service was great! The last time I went, the young man seemed a bit putout and dry. Maybe, he was having a bad day too, but his demeanor was agitated. The employees were friendly. The inside was clean and of you were wondering they did not have signs to separate for social distancing on them. The employee that took my order was patient with me after I stated I was bee there. I ordered a chicken BLT and my only negative was that I was expecting the picture they have on their order menu... well it looked just breaded not crispy. It was still good just not like "WOW". My cheese and bacon fries that I ordered weren't what imagined unfortunately. It had very little cheese and bacon. Barely recognizable and they tasted ok.
