Started off with a 30 minute wait to sit down. The food looked great from what we could see passing us by. One of the waitresses did not seem happy we were there, maybe she could tell we were not local folks. They sat us down and we watched three party's behind us eat and leave. They also took several orders to go after seating us. My folks are in their 70's and having them wait that long just was not right. We stayed calm and polite as we waited a total of 2 hours and they never even started our food. Very unpleasant experience. read more

I visited this place for breakfast early on Sunday morning- on the day of a huge car show on the street in front of the restaurant, probably the worst time I could have chosen as the place was swamped with a line waiting to be seated. It is a small corner eatery and has a faithful group of regular, one of whom had suggested it to me. I sat a the small counter and watched the staff rush around to take care of the full house. I have to say that I was very impressed; in spite of the crowd the girls were friendly, kept the food coming out quickly, and cleared and cleaned tables at warp speed. No stress, no hassles, just a great group of people working like a well oiled machine!! My food arrived in a timely manner and was well presented and quite delicious. Pretty basic greasy spoon breakfast joint. I love that they have egg beaters. I don't do regular eggs and nowhere else in town has them, so Wayne's wins my breakfast vote. I had an omelette with cheese and onions. I was surprised to get red and not yellow onions. It was a nice change. My Mom and her friend had Eggs Benedict. Getting hollandaise and getting the poach right are both kind of tricky. They agreed that it was cooked to perfection. The hash browns were good but next time I will ask for a little bit crisper. So the two things that are goofy but made me happy? Hand sanitizer on the tables (nice touch) and flavored coffee creamer (death in a lil' cup but yummy). My friend and I had been to Stanwood twice before as we proceeded on our yearly Yarn Crawl. We returned on our own to peruse various shops downtown, and decided to try Wayne's for lunch. I had the club sandwich, which is one of my favorites wherever I go, and I was not disappointed. Fresh turkey and ham, crisp bacon, tasty lettuce and tomato. I had it with fries, which were also amazingly delicious. The service was very kind and attentive, with smiles and cheer. Stopped here for breakfast this morning. Had french toast and a side of bacon. French toast was bland and syrup had little taste, mainly only thing you tasted was butter that was on toast. Ordered bacon limp, of course then they bring me crispy bacon. Ask server to bring different bacon and reminded her I asked for it limp. Took long time to get new order of bacon, in fact I was basically finished with French toast when she brought out new bacon. Overall nice little restaurant but nothing special regarding taste of food. Probably not interested in eating here again. Side of bacon was $4 for 4 pieces. Nice little place. People are very nice. The food was ok. Here's the only issue I have - all the food is frozen and then fried. No fresh sausage or meat..... the servers make the experience though. Food was ok....nothing special. Had eggs benedict (extremely undercooked poached eggs) and the kiddo had sausage and eggs. The service is why I am giving it 1 star. The waitresses were really rude and treated us like we were not welcome there. They slammed our food and drinks on the table, and rolled their eyes when we asked for silverware. Our son was absolutely quiet...not a single word the whole time...so it wasn't his fault. The restaurant was moderately busy, not packed. We didn't order anything complicated...read right off the menu. We were polite, said please and thank you....There was absolutely no reason for us to be treated like we were inconveniencing them. Ok, here goes. I've eaten here more than a few times. Why, because it's one of the only cafe's in downtown Stanwood. The cafe is small, as in the size of your living room but has some nice seating for outside. Most of the customers are local geezers, farmers, etc. You get the idea. The food...nothing to write home about. I've had the breakfast (typical frozen hasbrowns, nothing seems really homemade except for their cinammon rolls), lunch...ok sands, and they aren't open for dinner. I don't thing I'd want to try their dinner if they did have it. Their prices are a tad high for the size of Stanwood and the quality of the food. The service is hit and miss. One surly waitress and one cheerleader type. Some old woman sits around on a stool and I $hit you not, breaks out in song and will go around and sing right in your face as you try to eat. Annoying as all hell. Seems like folks around here like it, can't fathom why. The old broad can't sing and it sound like someone is swinging a dead cat against a brick wall. I wonder if it is the owner. To sum up, all the customers are at least 70+ and since they have probably no taste buds or sense of smell left, they eat the food and gab at each other. The joint is right next to the train station and train tracks. If the old singer starts in on it, I advise running out and standing in front of the train as it goes through town. It's a good sign for any eatery when they have a good amount of local clientele often. We stopped in for breakfast after hearing about it from my sister. We went in and were invited to pick our table, got our coffee and pop right away and our order soon after. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Our breakfast was excellent. Had breakfast there a couple of time. Generous portions and large range of options to choose from. One annoying thing that keeps us from going there more often was that they tend to push their religious beliefs a bit onto their customers. For example waitresses asking customers if they believe in Jesus is not really appropriate. We go there for the food and not for religious guidance, and all our friends think the same way about this place. Would give this place a 4-star if they managed to be more neutral. Also, as another customer wrote, the "singing" woman is painful...definitely not a way of inviting more frequent visits. read more

Will never eat here. My two daughters, both with experience, went in and asked for an application after seeing a help wanted sign on the door. There's nothing like waking up, looking over to your s/o and immediately agreeing on Wayne's for breakfast. This place is small but very well arranged for the space they have. The staff here are probably some of the best I've experienced, always smiling and laughing. It just feels like they're genuinely having a wonderful time and really rubs off. This corner spot in the down town has had a very difficult time holding a restaurant the last 10 years. Its great to see a place actually stick! For breakfast and lunch you can barely find a seat, mostly senior citizens. Last time we went there was a waiting list! I couldn't believe it! The place is very small and there is a woman that sings on the staff...its kinda strange; but after growing up in Stanwood I expect weird small town things and a lot of the locals seem to like it. The food is your typical breakfast fair but it's done well and the portions are large. The place itself is nothing fancy but if you're wanting upscale food with an upscale setting don't go somewhere called the corner cafe. Cute little place. But... the waitress was not mature enough to see what we needed. First it started with hair in my French fries. No tartar sauce with my greasy fish & chips. I asked for lemon and never received. The senior meal comes with dessert. I do not like bread pudding. She told me to go next door at the bakery to get my dessert if I wanted something else. I saw another waitress run next door for her customer. My husband could not eat the bread pudding. Bad! I will give this restaurant another chance, but not bring friends/family. read more

BF is served all day & opted for Joe's Special which I hardly ever make for myself @ home. I asked about the soups & they are homemade. Since they have a 'Sr's Menu' I'm sure it's why so many are there! I have to say, I quite enjoy listening to Sr's chat, it can be quite hilarious. I agree the prices seem a bit high for Stanwood, but my BF was good....a nice touch is the S&P grinders @ each table. I did comment that the hash browns should be browned on EACH side. It's rare that you get fresh hash browns anywhere @ this price. ....come on! Clean & 'charming' country decor. Wayne's has to be one of the best restaurants in town for breakfast and lunch. Prices are reasonable and you get huge servings. My whole family including my boys 11 &15, love it. My mom even drives from south Everett to eat here. While yes it's small, it's always busy and the wait staff does a good job keeping up. The owners wife is so sweet and funny and will come out to sing a jingle now and then. I'm no geaser or farm hand (so lame of the above person to label the people of Stanwood as such) and I have a really good taster. I love to cook and bake and I'm lovingly labeled the Camano Martha Stewart so I know when things are good or bad. It doesn't smell of mildew and urinal cakes like other cafes in town. So stop by and give it a try and decide for yourself. read more
