First time back in almost a year (I think) things have changed a little like ordering and paying for the food before sitting down... I paid for the food and didn't tip. During our meal we were greeted and asked many times how was the food and if we needed anything. Once we finished our meal I asked if I can still leave a tip or if I can purchase something to leave a tip. The waitress was able to provide the original receipt and I did leave a generous tip! The current polo shirts worn by the staff sums it up perfectly, "Good food, decent service". In the food wasteland that is Camarillo (I call it Cambodia), those two basic qualities are enough to keep a restaurant insanely busy. The wait times are 20 minutes when it's slow and it can be nearly two hours on a weekend. Although I've given them five stars, it's adjusted upwards for context. In LA, this would be a 4-star place. The menu is extensive and all the food I've had thus far has been executed very well. read more

This is an establishment I've been recommending and going to for years, however, recently my family and I went back, and we saw the long line outside, and I thought ok! This is normal for the weekend, however it wasn't a line to place your name for seating, it was a line to place your orders before they seat you... this became an issue as once we were seated and enjoying the view and ordering mimosas/ bloody Mary's, each time I placed a refill order i received a separate check by the time i left i had 5 separate checks (there were 7 adults ordering refills) I was very unhappy with their new apparent "stream lining", . Listen, the food was good as always, but this fairly new system just turned everyone at the table off. And because of that.. I give a 1 star review and state that all 7 adults concured that we would NOT be returning to this once jewel of the Camarillo airport.. if you plan on ordering more than you initially ordered at the door..be prepared for multiple single checks...ugh! Overpriced. THIRTY DOLLER TRI TIP SANDWICH! Must pay and tip in advance! We used to go all the time when they had super service and good value food. After Covid and new management came in, it was a down hill ride. We miss Sandra the manager that left and the super nice bus people and friendly waitresses. It's been a long time maybe we will try again someday if they go back to being a normal restaurant where you order your food at the table and pay and tip at the end of a meal. Waypoint cafe is a wonderful cafe located in the Camarillo airport area. It has a great patio area with a view of the airport. The kids love watching the planes land and take off. Beware that they take your order before you are seated. So it's helpful if you look at the menu and decide ahead of time. This system works great as your food comes out soon after sitting. Service is overall really good. Everyone is polite and smiles are abundant. The only little comment I have to make is that the last two times we've gone we have had to get our own ketchup, creamer, sugar, or other condiments. Sometimes they ask if you need it, other times you have to flag them down, but it's just easier/faster to get up and get it. Overall not a big deal though. Food has been great every single time. There's a little something for everyone from traditional breakfast to Mexican breakfast dishes. I can vouch for the huevos rancheros, corn beef hash, and breakfast burrito, all were delicious and filling. It can get pretty busy, but they move people through pretty fast. We definitely look forward to going again. read more

Absolutely fabulous! The food has a great taste and always fresh. No matter how busy they are the service is always great and friendly. My favorite is: Orange Juice, Spicy Vegetarian Burrito, Any Pancake Here is the pro tip: On the busy day, order the food to-go and there are round tables located within airport premises near the patio sitting, these tables are not restaurant tables they are provided by airport authority. I haven't been to Waypoint Cafe in a few years, and there were several changes made that made this place go from a 5 star to 1 star. First, you line up outside. No problem until we got to the host stand and the guy asked for our order. We had no idea we were already supposed to know what we wanted - this was not communicated at all so we ended up being rushed to figure out our order. Then we paid at the host stand and had to tip before even getting service. The major reason for the 1 star is there was absolutely *NO* service whatsoever. There were food runners that brought our food, but not ONCE did someone come to check on anything. We needed napkins, drink refills, ranch, ketchup, etc. and NOBODY ever came. I paid $20 for tip and I have no idea where that tip went. This place needs to manage the line better and communicate that orders will be taken at the host stand. They need to have servers checking on people to see if anything is needed. read more

I'm not sure this place is worth the wait. I'd heard about this place for a long time, went to try it once and the line was around the building so we bailed. Came back on a weekday and waited about 25 min to get inside. I like how they take your order at the front and you pay there, but I don't think most people know that so there's a lot of time wasted while people try to figure out what they want. I got the French dip and it was nothing special. Good service, nice place. I'm going to give it another try at sometime and get either breakfast or a burger (from what I could see that's where they really shine). read more

Waypoint reminds me of a small town diner. Food is great. Service is great. You'll receive your food in short time. While you wait you can look at the many parked planes as well as those planes and helicopters taking off and landing. Exceptions: You will order and pay for your food as soon as step inside. I was there this past Friday, I have to say I was super super disappointed in the food. We placed our order and before we were even seated, which is seriously right after you order, they were dropping off our food and mind you, mine was the wrong eggs. There is NO WAY that those meals were made that fast! Stop rushing people! They are so concerned to get people in and out that the food is lacking! They come to your table a million times before you even get to put a bite in your mouth and then BAM, nothing more. She took my whole plate back and came back with a whole other plate with the right eggs. Super disappointed. Let people sit down and take a breath! The service here is outstanding. I mean, folks including the manager will check in on you at least 3 times to make sure you are enjoying your experience here. However, we were seated outside right next to the private planes and the sound of those planes taking off was so loud that my family and I couldn't hear each other speak even though we were seated close to each other. Also, the food was very average. My husband's French dip sandwich was quite horrid actually. The price was reasonable - I guess that's what you pay for average food. Oh well. read more

This place is consistently delicious! They have a great menu for breakfast and lunch. Their portion sizes are huge and everything is delicious. The prices are great for the quality and portions of the meals. My kids love eating here so they can watch the planes and helicopters take off at the airport (amazing location) while we eat our meals. They have a very large indoor and outdoor seating area as well. Drinks are great too. We had bloody Mary's and mimosas and they were delicious. The orange juice is fresh squeezed! Had a fantastic brunch here on Sunday! For a party of 3 around 11AM the wait was projected to be 45-60 minutes. We headed back to the mimosa cart and open seating area behind the restaurant and had a very pleasant time before being seated. The restaurant was pretty crowded and we had a baby in our party but staff was fine with a baby chair being in the aisle without making it seem like an inconvenience. The baby was well behaved (no screaming/crying) so that probably helped. Mimosas are $10 ea and the salad I got was delicious! My guy got a French dip with fries that was also really good. Went here to try the tri tip Caesar salad but unfortunately they only have it on certain days. Instead we got the bbq salad, and the patty melt. The food was so good, and came out very fast! The shakes were also very good and cute. We sat outside, and it's right on the edge of the airport so it was cool to sit and see all the planes. I normally only write reviews when I have a very good experience or very bad and the service here was exceptional. Every single worker was so sweet and thankful. Very welcoming environment. Ordering at the door like it is fast food has to go. Super sad, because this was my favorite place for breakfast and lunch. It used to be relaxing to look at a menu and sip on coffee for a minute or two. . . I don't go out to breakfast at $20 per head (with drinks) to stand in line, tip 20% up front, and then get bad service because they are turning the tables so fast. Waypoint should put in a drive thru or just make us download an app to order. . . Heck, bring us food with drones while you're at it. I'll spare the details, but breakfast was a bummer today. Great location, mediocre (and overpriced) food. It was fun watching the planes and helicopters while tracking on the flight radar 24 app although I was not impressed by the food. I had the French Dip. The meat was shredded, not sliced which seems unusual. There was a fair amount of it but it was not very flavorful, kind of bland. No cheese, just meat and bread. The fries were actually better than the sandwich. They don't post prices on their website which usually indicates overpricing and that was the case here. The sandwich and a soda came to $28.75 with tip. You order as you co e in, before you are seated. So, you tip before you experience the service or taste the food. Not an ideal process in my opinion. With all the great places to eat in the area I may or may not try it again. If so, I will definitely try something else on the menu as the food really was only worthy of 2 stars. read more
