I have to agree with Leah K. - I was not satisfied with the tough/rubbery, overcooked (or maybe just sitting for a long time) $20 pizzas I was served.
I called in an order for myself and some work friends - a couple pies, wings, salad. I was not given an estimate of how long it would take, so I walked right over (10 minute walk) and ended up standing around for about 45 minutes. That's right, about an hour for two pizzas,1 order of wings and 1 salad.
I'll try to describe the scene for you.. total chaos, probably three times over maximum occupancy, I mean packed! - someone is blasting music, but only the first 10 seconds of several songs, like build me up buttercup (god, how appropriate) for the first 15 seconds, then quick switch to the next track, like someone skipping past the songs they don't like. I have no idea where to go or who to talk to about picking up my food, I see some people with those pager thingies, do I wait in this line?
I was able to get a staff members attention to ask about my order. A few minutes later, a different person walks past me, dressed like a manager (no uniform or branding on him) called me by my name and said he was taking care of my order. Great! On my way, I thought! Nope.. I'm only 5 minutes in, at this point.
Fast forward 20 minutes, the place is starting to clear out from the lunch rush, I'm still standing around, my co-worker is complaining about getting back to work, a random woman walks up and says "Do you guys have a huge order or something, you've been here a long time!" Yes, that's right, we were standing around so long, people became curious about us.. lol.
Anyway, 10 more minutes pass, before we meet General Manager Jeff! Yay! He's comes over to "personally take care of me," He asks my name how long I had been waiting. "I've been waiting a pretty long time," I answer, after providing my name. Jeff apologizes and takes off, to return with my food, around 5 minutes later. After recapping the order, he offers this: "ask for me, next time, I'm the general manager, and I want do something special for you."
Oh.. okay.. next time? How presumptuous.. you must think you're the only place to get lunch in Crystal City! Jeff, the other thing, when you know about a mistake and acknowledge that mistake with your customer, the general rule in the hospitality business is to do something about it, not dare me to come back and deal with your place again, hoping I may receive "something special, next time," instead of frustration and regret.
I understand the situation.. The place just opened, they're SLAMMED busy, new staff, etc (reason for my merciful two star rating) but management needs to figure out how to handle the volume without it impacting the quality and experience.
You're charging people a pretty good amount of money for pizza. I expect more than something I pull out of a box from my freezer and make at home! Thanks, but no thanks. read more
