Savory Roasted Garlic Knots Margherita Burrata Slice
Sherly H.

Unfortunately my visit to We, The Pizza was pretty disappointing. Although the cashier was very nice and welcoming, I cannot justify waiting nearly 40 minutes for one slice of pizza and three garlic knots. The pizza was on the drier side (lacking some sauce and honestly not warm enough given how long we waited). The garlic knots were good enough but not worth a 40 minute wait, in my opinion. There was a large party upstairs that may have been responsible for the slow service but we left some time after them and noticed a super long line of folks still waiting for their food.

Only had one slice, but thought the triple cheese was good and I was able to fold it as well. The pepperoni slice had large slices, but was a bit more greasy.

Love the pizza and hand made sodas here! The crust on the pizza is so crispy and the handmade soda flavors are very original. There are no refills for the handmade sodas, but once you're done you can refill it with fountain soda downstairs, all self serve. It's conveniently located close to the Library of Congress, so it's a great spot to stop by for lunch or dinner. They have plenty of seating upstairs. It's clean, bright, and spacious. Since we went early Friday evening, it wasn't busy so we were served right away. It was lovely to have a hot slice of pizza after walking around DC all day in the cold.

I wanted this to be a four star experience because the staff here are awesome. The Detroit-style slice just did not deliver the way I hoped. When I got my slice, one side was piping hot with the cheese bubbling and the edges crisping. The other side was lukewarm. It was basically room temperature. I asked if they could reheat it and because of food safety, which is totally fair, they handed me a fresh slice. Big points for that. Unfortunately, the second slice had the same problem. The edges heated up but the middle stayed kind of meh. I do not think this is a staff issue. Detroit-style just does not work well with the per slice reheat model. If you are grabbing a classic slice, go for it. If Detroit-style is calling your name, I would recommend getting a whole pie so you can get that fresh out of the oven magic.

We, The Pizza has been a good experience over the years. It is located on Capitol Hill, so their interest has been to consistently provide high quality pizza to staff on the Hill and local government employees. Their pizza is delicious. The have approximately 14 pizzas in rotation. I appreciate that their ingredients are fresh, natural, and many sourced locally. Their sausage is from Logan's Sausage in northern Virginia. Some of their ingredients are organic. The end product is a high-quality pizza. I also like their house-made soft drinks. As is the case with many restaurants along this side of Pennsylvania Avenue, the restaurant has two levels. The main dining room is on the 2nd floor. There are televisions on the 2nd floor and the layout is comfortable. The only inconvenience of the 2nd floor is the soda fountain is on the first floor. A soda fountain on the 2nd floor would be ideal. Also, their cookies are baked fresh and absolutely delicious. There have been times I've visited We, The Pizza just for their cookies. Overall, a very good pizza parlor experience.

Very good pizza. One slice is big enough for a meal. Filling and flavorful. Service is fast and efficient. There are plenty of tables upstairs to accommodate different sizes of groups.

We all loved our pizza! This was just the place to sit and relax between seeing the sights. Nice that everyone in our family could get the pizza we wanted since you can buy by the slice. I also had a side Caesar salad and it was the perfect size to go along with my one big slice of pizza. My family all got the two slice and drink deal and it was almost too much food for them! Definitely recommend you stopping in.

Solid and reasonable. We were sent here by a USCP Officer who suggested some reasonable spots near the Capitol. It was exactly as he described. We liked it so much that we ate here twice. I think pizza is different away from home. This may be something anyone outside Louisiana understands but I did not. It took a few trips away from home to discover that Louisiana knows nothing about good pizza. When you walk in here, there is a menu but there are also pizzas on display before you order. We got two slices each which were huge. You can probably get by with just one. Once we ordered we got a buzzer and grabbed a seat. Imagine my surprise when I was thinking they would just give us pizza straight from the display. Negative. They took it, heated it perfectly, and then buzzed us. It was excellent. Paired with beer it was even better. Was it fancy? No. Was it reasonable by DC standards? Absolutely. Would I go here again? Definitely. If you are at the Capitol or Library of Congress and want a reasonable but filling meal, walk a few blocks here. Thanks to the USCP for the recommendation.

The name says it all ... We, the Pizza, offer a wide selection of NYC-style pizza, featuring over 14 slice options, house-made sodas, hand-tossed wings, and Italian gelato shakes served in a relaxed and trendy atmosphere. My favorite was the various murals of celebrities and the multiple quotes. Located in the heart of downtown DC and within walking distance of the Capitol and other DC attractions. I visited during a quiet time of day, which allowed staff to offer suggestions and explain the menu for first-timers like myself. A 10/10 in my book for NYC pizza eaten and enjoyed in DC.

Their strong pizza consistently makes me feel complete and happy. But the margins on the $9.00 salad make me feel empty and exploited. It is smaller than an iPhone 13. It had 9 leaves of lettuce, 4 cucumber slices, a cherry tomato.

Linnea E.

Solid pizza shop on Capitol Hill with a wide variety of pizza options to order by the slice. Made for an easy, quick, and relatively inexpensive lunch for the area. The Hawaiian was definitely my fave - it was loaded with pineapple and chunks of sliced ham. They also have a surprising amount of seating upstairs.

But pricey, stick to the pepperoni for a good tasting pizza! Love the adventure and tired different flavors but some were a bit too much I fear. Service was quick and they brought pizza to the table. They play good music and it's a nice vibe to just rest and eat.

Service was great ! Everyone was very attentive. Manager I believe his name was Eric was very helpful and nice! I just wished my food was as good as the customer service:( Me personally, I do not like huge wings ! If they were smaller , they would've been perfect! Veggie pizza was bland and full of dough ! I would give it another shot & just try something different!

Reheated stale pizza. The deep dish was so tough you could not bite off a piece. Salad was just romaine and seeds. Truffle had no flavor.

Street Parking Only & It's Definitely Hit Or Miss. I Got Lucky & Found A Spot, But It Is Metered So Be Prepared To Pay. This Spot Is Literally A "Side Door" Located On The Side Of Scarlet Oak. Super Unique Setup With Cool Lights That Make It Easy To Spot. It's Different From Your Typical Pizza Place, Which I Actually Liked. Since It Was Monday, They Had Half-Off Pizzas If You Dine In & I Had To Take Advantage Of That. CHEESE PIZZA I Ordered A Cheese Pizza & Lemon Water. This Is Detroit-Style Pizza, So Don't Expect New York Style. It's Thick, With A Generous Amount Of Mozzarella Cheese & Tomato Sauce. Honestly, It Almost Felt Like A Cheesy Bread Situation But In A Good Way. The Crust Was Buttery With A Slight Crisp On The Outside & Soft Inside, Which Was The Perfect Balance. The Ingredients Tasted Fresh, & It Was Very Filling. The Size I Got Came With 4 Slices, & Honestly, 2 Slices Was More Than Enough. I'd Definitely Come Back & Bring My Son This Feels Like A Spot He'd Love, Especially If He's Into Breadsticks & Cheesy Pizza. The Staff Was Decent, Though I Didn't Interact Much. The Overall Setup Is Interesting, A Full Restaurant Vibe Inside With This Separate Pizza Concept On The Side. Different, But It Works. I'm Glad I Finally Tried It, Unique Setup, Solid Detroit-Style Pizza, & A Great Deal If You Catch It On The Right Day. Just Have To Be In The Mood For Detroit-Style Pizza.

Through the side door, of course. Side Door Pizza is essentially a takeout counter just off the kitchen with its own separate entrance. We didn't quite realize that going in, and since it was cold and windy, we asked if we could take our pizza inside and sit at Scarlet Oak. They were happy to accommodate, asking only that we order something there as well, so we grabbed a drink. The pizza came out quickly, hot and fresh. We're vegetarians, so we ordered one square slice of cheese and one square slice of mushroom. The cheese slice was good but not great. It could have used a bit more sauce and seasoning. The mushroom slice, however, was excellent. We both immediately agreed we should have just ordered a full mushroom pie. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience. The environment was welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If you're in the Navy Yard area, it's definitely worth a stop. They also have a fairly extensive menu beyond pizza, which we didn't explore this time--but if you go, it's worth checking out the full lineup.

Continuing the last 3 of the runner-up alphabet series (& then onto 2025 alphabet series with…read morerunner-ups included at the same time) and the only representing 2023, W is for Wiseguy Pizza. I first had Wiseguy on 3rd & Massachusetts Ave NW way back in 2014, and I knew I loved their pizza. I had also been to a couple of other locations in Arlington & their only one in MD, which closed, at Wheaton Mall. I visited this Navy Yard Wiseguy about 3 times. The first was on Monday, January 6, 2020. I had work travel to DC. My girlfriend of that time was working in DC. It was a brief period of time. She started in December 2019, then on that Friday, 1/10, the contract was furloughed due to the contract company President dying, so she was off for 2 weeks. Then, it was back to normal commuting back to DC, which was brief, as Covid was around the corner, and became 100% remote. She was happy I surprised her coordinating lunch at Wiseguy at Navy Yard not far from her work. This location was pretty new at the time. She & I loved our pizza. It's a thin NY style, perhaps the best in the DMV! The other noteworthy time I visited was on Saturday, July 8, 2023. Early that afternoon, I was way up at Columbia Mall, where I happened to be writing this Yelp review now, as I ate lunch & had a movie on my AMC A-List. Afterward, I was texting/calling with a friend. He was itching to go to a baseball game. O's were away, but Nationals were in town playing against one of my favorite teams, the Texas Rangers, and I had their pitcher in our Fantasy baseball league. We coordinated that afternoon having about 1.5 hours to buy tickets on phone, for me to drive from Columbia to Greenbelt Metro with some modest traffic on parts of 95, & metro all the way on Green line for the 4:05 game. My friend was running a bit later, so we didn't enter right at 4:05, but my heart sank when I heard Nats fans loudly cheering for a homer. My Rangers pitcher got clobbered by the Nats. I was pissed at him quickly dropping him the next morning as soon as I could. Although rain chances were low like 15%, there was a heavy thunderstorm that blew from DCA to Nats Park; almost the entire region was clear, but just bad luck. The rain lasted like 15 minutes, but I was pissed at the Nats because they delayed the game by 1.5 hours! They should've gotten the game going within 45 minutes. I think it was a ploy by the Nats to get people to buy more drinks & food. I refused to give the Nats a dime besides the ticket to go to the game. But after the rain, I was hungry from like the 5th inning to the end. We should've been out of there about 6:30 (which would've been on par with my hunger level) but instead like 8 PM. I told my friend about Wiseguy seeing it was quick & relatively cheap. He loved their pizza too as did I once again. If I'm ever in Navy Yard, Wiseguy is definitely a viable option for me.
