Pleasant fruity wine. Tables and gazebo set up overlooking the orchard. Came for just a wine tasting and ended up taking home 4 bottles. Before leaving, opened up one of the bottles and sipped some wonderful peach wine while gazing at the orchard from the gazebo. Stunning view, 70 deg weather and a glass of wine ...... couldn't be more relaxed than this. read more

I have searched for many years for a wine that I could love other than Lambrusco. Thank you, Weathervane for making wines for the fans of sweet wines. My absolute favorites are Rooster Red and Blue Norther year round and the wonderful Placid Peach and Strawberry Breeze for the summer time. Your staff is always friendly and helpful. I was lucky enough to be given a bottle tree Christmas 2013 and it is an awesome to our yard. The only draw back is that the wines are not widely available; but, I do have a source. Wow, don't even bother going to this place. NONE of their wines are good. NONE of their wines taste like wine. They were all so gross and so bad that it seemed like something was wrong with their wine-making process. We have never tasted such terrible wine before, but this was definitely the place to do so. read more

My favorite winery in NC! I first tried Weathervane wine at the Rock the Block event in WS and was hooked immediately. Their sweet wines are indescribable, red rooster is a favorite of mine. Last year I bought a case of their seasonal blushing santa which was gone as soon as I got it; everyone that I had try it couldn't stop raving about it. I just wish they would expand their distribution! read more

I agree with the other reviewers who said that the sweet wines here are the best. I don't agree with those who say the wines are no good but I understand where they are coming from. These are fun, easy drinking wines. If you're a wine snob who loves big, bold, expensive Cabernets - don't waste your time here. If you like easy drinking wines, sweeter wines or maybe even if you don't even care much for wine and prefer beer or mixed drinks - this is a great place to enjoy trying something different and then relax on the patio and enjoy another glass of your 'new favorite'. read more

The tastings here were $7.50 and were split into dry or sweet flights of ~7 wines each. Disappointing. I like the premise of this, but I'd prefer a third option of being allowed to choose the 7 wines you were interested in tasting. A mixture of some dry and some sweet would be ideal, particularly when you have a wide spectrum of sweetness levels. I opted for the sweet as we had heard they did a good job with sweet wines from another winery. These wines mainly consist of grape-base wines that are then blended with fruit juice after fermentation. The result is a sweeter style wine that is low on alcohol content. The peach was very good, and really did taste like biting into a fresh, juicy peach. However, the rest were largely a miss. They offered a wine slushie at the end, which while enjoyable on a hot day, are more artificial flavor than wine. Overall it's worth a stop as it's so close to other wineries, but I'd prefer an updated tasting option. read more

We love Weathervane. The crew seemed so excited to see us and very welcoming. The wines are wonderful in my option the best is the Port.  The weather was rainy so no outside activities but all the people inside were enjoying themselves, laughing, drinking, and passing the time joyfully. Sid and Miranda are awsome hosts. They make you feel at home and welcomed. Doesn't matter if you prefer sweet wines or dry. They have something for everyone. You can rent the events center for book club, weddings, etc. the outside is beautiful as well during the summer Friday nights weathervane is the place to be they have live music, wine specials, food truck for a minimal fee. The name was of the wine even take you on a mental journey such as "Tropical Wave" makes you want to sit on the beach with it, Evening breeze" just the sound of it you can feel it in the spring taste is fitting, "Sweet Mountain bliss" (my absolute favorite) is my girlfriend wine take it out chill winedown, "Temperature Rising" does just that smooth mellow for the lover in you. While on a girls weekend we did a section of the wine trail and this was by far all our favorites. We even turned on other friends and family members to them. Even their fruit flavored wine is not too sweet like some other wines we tried. I have even called and had them ship me several cases. My wife, sister and I visited Weathervane Winery at the end of July. My wife and I prefer the sweeter wines so my sister ( from the area) took us on a little wine tour of the area. We visited 3 wineries ending at the Weathervane. If you like sweet wines with great flavor and a nice atmosphere then you will enjoy this winery. Sid and his wife Miranda were very friendly and informative about their wines. They were not in a hurry to pour for the next customer, took their time with us and were not pushy or rude. Not only did we enjoy their customer service but we really enjoyed just about all of their sweet wines. We sat at a little table to sample the wines and it was pretty steady with a flow of wine samplers. They have outside seating but we prefered the a/c inside- remember we're from the north and thought we going to melt outside. We left with 1 1/2 cases of sweet wine but obviously it wasn't enough cuz we're running out......boooo poor planning. My wife and I are from the western NY region where there are alot of really good wineries, we know cuz we've done many tours. Most of the time we will find a wine or maybe 2 that we like, however at Weathervane we like just about all of their sweet wines. Soooooo if you like sweet wines give it a try and stop in for a tasting, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. P.S. I also hear their is an alternative name for their "Rooster" wines but I believe it's urban legend according to all those wonderfull NC teachers. read more

I'm not a real fan of sweet wines, but Weathervane changed that. It's the smoothest wine I've ever tasted. Absolutely delicious. My husband even loves it and he's not a wine drinker. I always look for them at the Muscadine Festival in Kenansville, NC. Please, please be there again this year! read more
