Our service was excellent and our waiter was knowledgeable of the wine list and recommended a dry rose, which was exactly what my mom wanted. We had 4 appetizers to share and each of us also ordered an entree. Nothing was big, but we had plenty of food. I especially enjoyed the cheese plate and the potato pancake appetizers. For lunch I opted for a brunch style fried rice, which was executed perfectly. The combo of the chili sauce, soft boiled egg, and crunchy nori was great over the rice. The atmosphere, hospitality, delightful food and drinks, fantastic chef, and the entire staff who looked after us--everything was absolutely exceptional. Even the playlist was loaded with my favorite tunes. This time, the menu was inspired by Asian cuisine. I always admired 'Martin Cooks'. That evening he could have had any attitude, yet he proved again to be a truly wonderful host. He was friendly and laid-back, making it feel just like attending a dinner party at a friend's home. One more thing. You could imagine that the interior might feel too industrial or cold, but the restaurant is cozy and beautiful, despite its modern design and choice of materials. I can't wait for my next visit to Roost.

We also ordered asparagus, the Korean Fried Chicken, the shrimp with potatoes (all small plates) and one of my friends ordered the duck entree. My husband and friends had cocktails and mocktails; I didn't order one because they said they had nothing that was sweet. Incidental pet peeve: Saying "all our cocktails are balanced". I get it, you want to brag. But, some of us like things that are sweet, or as in the case of one of my friends, decidedly NOT sweet. If all of your cocktails are balanced the same way, it gives little useful info on what to order. I will respond to this by NOT ordering and sticking to tap water. I'd prefer it if you have a little something sweet and a little something not-sweet on the menu for those of us who don't actually want "perfectly balanced". That said, I did have a sip of the cocktails the others ordered. To my surprise, I liked the Broken Garden Tools. Though it wasn't particularly sweet it was also not super sour/tart and it was refreshing. I *could* have ordered that one, but I never would have known it from the description. I didn't like any of the others I tasted, but I can't remember what those were. Since I don't like whisky and I prefer sweet drinks, don't take this to mean that they don't have good drinks - the others enjoyed theirs, they just weren't to MY taste. Of the other dishes, I liked the cabbage that was on my friend's duck plate (I didn't try the duck). The asparagus was fine. The shrimp and potatoes was ok but not as good as I'd hoped for. And honestly, I didn't love the KFC. It didn't seem to be twice-fried and super crispy like KFC should be, and the sauce to me wasn't balanced between the sweet and spicy flavors I prefer. However, my husband liked it very well. The only other thing I'd caution is to double check ingredients. There was a dish ordered (I can't remember which now, some kind of bread maybe, but not listed as a bruschetta) that said it contained rosemary among other things but did not list basil. We saw no rosemary at all, but a lot of basil, which I can't eat. So I didn't have any. The others shared it. I would have been more disappointed had it been my selection. My friend noted that the server did not ask us about any food allergies, which, if your menu doesn't accurately list its contents, is problematic. Fortunately I know what basil looks like so no harm done. All in all, I would return, get lots of croquettes, order a Broken Garden Tools, and maybe try some other things we didn't get to. But I'd double check all the ingredients.

Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable. The meal always starts with fresh baked bread service that is accompanied by butter, house pickles and either a hummus or garlic confit (in my experience). My mom is gluten free so she was bought her own dish with focaccia and a roll. She was over the moon about that and really enjoyed the focaccia. We all enjoyed every bit of our meal which included our choice if an appetizer, main dish and dessert from a prix fixe menu for $40. Some of our choices included charcuterie, arugula salad, tamarind shrimp curry, salmon and lemon meringue cheesecake. We left with our culinary needs satisfied and our stomachs full... we even had some leftovers. I can't wait to go back again. It's best to make reservations as they usually get fully booked. They also have staff working there that graduated from the program and were hired by the restaurant. This place is fantastic. As soon as we walked in, we notice the ambiance of the entire building is clean and well maintained. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept so you can see much of what is going on "behind the scenes". Upon entering the restaurant, we were appropriately greeted by staff who were very personable, respectful, and informative. The same attentive and personable service was given by the entire staff. We were able to ask questions about how the restaurant operates, being that it is operated by the Culinary Institute and its students and alumni. I'll spare you the details but it is an interesting dynamic. The food was excellent. We went for dinner and while there is a limited menu, the options were varied enough that anyone would be able to find something they will enjoy. This might be the most affordable three course meal I've had this decade. The food was prepared perfectly, the presentation was impeccable, and the service provided leaves nothing to be desired. The entire operation is run calmly and very efficiently. I am happy to have had the opportunity to dine at Savor and it is going on my short list of highly recommended upscale restaurants for anyone looking for a nice dinner at an affordable price. So if you're looking for a night out and don't want to break the bank, go support the students and alums from SUNY Niagara. I doubt you'll regret it at all.
