Great little coffee spot! They know how to make a latte that's for sure. Quick service considering only one person was working, nice to go counter outside and sidewalk patio.

Weird Wave hooked my with their great IG posts featuring some amazing baked goods :) So I've been looking forward to trying this place for a while now. I was not disappointed :) :) I ordered a Latte that was delicious, rich, creamy & just the right temperature. Just a really solid drink. To go along with it I had the Bacon Breakfast Sandwich w/ bacon, fried egg, avocado, mayo & sweet chipotle jam... This sandwich is everything!!! One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had 10Stars! Well, it was the video of them making these brownies that finally made me come in so I had to have one. OMG... This Chocolate Chip Brownies is soooooo good :) :) :) I had to get another one to take home. My only regret was not getting 2 because this one never made it home!! The only downer is the parking, it is street parking only and the area is pretty busy. But trust me a little walk is well worth it for this great shop :) The guys that run the place are super friendly and are truly passionate about what they serve. You really need to cross the river and try Weird Wave. It has a kinda hippie/mello vibe and you will love it just like I do :)

I've been getting these guys delivered at work pretty frequently lately as they are close quick and delicious. I've had the breakfast burrito before and it's pretty good but the breakfast sandwich is my absolute fav. The bread they use is soooo bomb and they have a spicy jam on it that I am obsessed with. Coffee is also delicious, i started out always getting the iced latte, then I got stuck on the iced mochas but now my star is the iced vanilla latte. Everything I've had from here has been amazing!

First of all Matcha is Great! Customer Service was the best, Cashier/server were great I asked if matcha was sweetened or not she said it wasn't but could make it sweet for me by adding honey, I accepted and when she delivered she asked me to try it and if I wanted anything different to make it sweeter to let her know. Once I tried it, it was perfect! I loved customer service as well as I'm enjoying my matcha will most likely stop by on my way to work again! First Timer and loved it I wish I got her name but thank you so much!!

Really great little coffee/brunch spot. It seems hidden but the people that work there are very friendly and nice. I ended up getting a latte and told the Battista to make me something not on the menu. It's absolutely excellent. I don't know what it's called but it was a great experience. I would definitely come back.

Came here for the first time and I really enjoyed it! The service was great and the cashier was so welcoming. I got a iced vanilla latte and it was really yummy :) the breakfast burritos are also a 10/10! Def going to be coming here more often. The only downside is the lack of parking.

Stopped by this coffee shop when I had a work visit in the area. I had always seen it and something about it always got my attention. I think it's the outdoor patio area, super cute. Inside there is plenty seating and when I went it was pretty slow so it looks like a nice place to work from or study at. The young girl at the counter was very sweet and helpful, great service. I ordered a vanilla oat latte and the coffee was great. I haven't tried the food but will be back for that. I actually input my number and got a reward for a free pastry, yay! Also the bathroom was decorated cute/funky/fun. I will be back!

Stopped by this coffee spot to pick up an americano before I wait in line for my booster shot at Lincoln Park. They have a couple of tables out front and you can order from the window. Cute spot and friendly service! I also ordered the cinnamon raisin bread-- so good! Will be back!

Delicious coffee, I had an Iced Vanilla Latte. The service was fast and friendly. You can sit inside or outside. I loved the inside, it was small and cozy with library vibes

    Suggestion for new signage.

We came to the Weird Wave Coffee Brewers but the shop was closed..? Did it move or is it closed for the holidays?

They had reduced hours for the holidays, and they were closed on Christmas. But I believe they’re back on normal store hours now.

After fighting my way through South Bay traffic and making the drive from Hermosa, I can confidently say it was 100% worth it. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and full of heart. You can tell there's a lot of love behind what they're doing here, and that energy carries through everything from the service to the food and, of course, the coffee. I ordered a quad espresso over ice, and wow... it was absolutely delicious. Smooth, flavorful, perfectly balanced, and honestly one of the better iced espressos I've had in a long time. Even better, the prices felt very fair for the quality. For food, I ordered the chilaquiles and the frijoladas, and both were incredible. They had this subtle but delicious undertone of spice that kept building with every bite. The surprise star of the visit was their house syrup. It was so good that I ended up buying a bottle to take home. The flavor instantly transported me back to mornings in Mexico with my grandma, waking up early, sipping coffee together, and enjoying the comforting aroma of café de olla. It was one of those unexpected moments where a simple taste brings back a flood of memories. Great coffee, amazing food, beautiful atmosphere, and a little taste of nostalgia. I'll definitely be making the drive back.

I do recommend trying it if its your first time and want something not so heavy. I like the chilaquiles, its better when you add a fried egg. Soo yummy, savory, and flavorful! As for the coffee, if you like a pick me up... and a coffee that isn't sweet but strong. I suggest a refresher drink (tonics). The coffee is sugary and you unfortunately cant taste some of the coffee. If that's your preference, we'll i recommend. Besides that, the environment is lovely and art they have. So much care and intention woven into this place. On weekends you can feel the energy of people moving through from opening to closing. Today I needed a little more sweetness in my life, so I ordered the iced Mazapán oat milk latte with peanut butter foam -- magic -- alongside the Tamales de Mole, a weekend-only special. The sweet balanced the savory perfectly. Pansa llena, corazón contento. The flavor profile caters to a range of palates. My partner went for the Oaxacan Mocha oat milk latte -- also highly recommend the Cacao de Mi Corazón smoothie and the Spanish Latte. Know that every drink is made to order, crafted with intention. This isn't fast food. Give yourself the time to enjoy it. Open 7am-5pm daily, they're not stretching themselves thin for the masses, they're building a solid foundation. And it shows. The consistency keeps me coming back. For days when you can't escape the grind, DoorDash pre-order is a must. For days when you want an actual escape... tucked on a busy corner amid freeways, trains, and the hum of East LA, this place carves out a sanctuary. Lush greenery, a pace that slows you down, street parking in the neighborhood, and the satisfaction of supporting a local small business that opens its doors to the community. Oh, and they keep dog treats at the counter. I snagged one for my fur baby-- a small reminder of how beautifully they treat dogs in Oaxaca. Yia Caffé -- a treat, every single time.

Parking is scarce, but that's not being taken in consideration as part of the rating, just wanted to make it aware for others. I ordered a Oaxacan Mocha latte with coconut milk. I give a 3/5. Same thing, tasted water based, ordered it with almond milk. I'm not much of a sweet person, so if you like sweet drinks then this is it for you and your rating will be probably higher than mines. The place is very aesthetic, kind of gives off the vibe like you're in a tree house haha. Overall, it's an aesthetic coffee shop with decent coffee. I was actually on my way to a different coffee shop when I somehow ended up in the wrong place. What started as a wrong turn ended up being one of my favorite coffee discoveries. Parking can be a little tricky since most of it is street parking, and there are signs posted throughout the area, so definitely pay attention before leaving your car. Luckily, I arrived shortly after opening and was able to find a spot right in front. The moment I walked in, I could tell this wasn't your typical coffee shop. The space is beautiful and filled with personality. There are hanging plants throughout the café, colorful textiles, books, artwork, handcrafted decorations, and cultural pieces of Guatemalan roots. Everywhere I looked there was another detail to admire. It felt warm, welcoming, and intentional. It felt like a true community space. There were comfortable seating areas, bookshelves to browse, and plenty of spots where you could sit down with a coffee and spend some time. For food, I ordered the avocado toast, and it was great. Everything tasted fresh, and it paired well with the coffee. For drinks, I ordered both the Mayan Mocha and the Latte de Barrio. The Latte de Barrio completely stole the show for me. It was smooth, comforting, and perfectly balanced. Every sip felt cozy and familiar. If it's your first time visiting, this is the drink I would recommend. I also ordered the Mayan Mocha hot. The combination of espresso, cacao, and cardamom created a rich flavor profile that felt unique compared to a traditional mocha. It was delicious and comforting, but next time I think I'd like to try it iced just to experience it a different way. Ülëw is much more than a place to grab coffee. It's a space that celebrates culture, community, and craftsmanship, and you can feel that from the moment you walk through the door. I'm genuinely glad I got lost that morning because otherwise I may never have found this place. Between the atmosphere, the drinks, the fresh food, and the welcoming environment, I'll absolutely be back--and I'll definitely be ordering another Latte de Barrio.

So circled back with my son-in-law's brother, and had a good experience. CafeNina is located at the upper entrance of the 4th street Pedestrian stairs between Lorena and Concorde. These stairs were created in 1928, as a way to allow pedestrian connection between the elevated East 4th street and the neighborhood below. I've taken this many times, but as I tend to do when trying to reach a destination, ignored the journey until now. It opened in 2023 in Boyle Heights, expressing the owner's passion for coffee, specifically with Mexican flavors. I never went to a place like this before, so looked up how it is defined: the best term I could find was 'cozy family focused house-front coffee cart'. We came around lunch time so there were no longer any pastries. But the very friendly owner advised that most drinks were available. One page of the menu was devoted to various Matchas, so JM and I got the same thing: a large iced strawberry Matcha Latte ($8 each). One has the choice of dairy/non-dairy, so chose almond milk. There's a lovely backyard area with a few cafe tables, reminding me of someone's well appointed backyard. It's dog friendly, and we spent a couple of hours talking while enjoying our drinks. It got busier towards the end of our stay, and Simba was getting restless, so we made our leave. A definite place to consider if near the Boyle Heights area, and wanting to enjoy some coffee based drinks.

As a regular, I appreciate that their espresso is strong but also smooth and when I order a hot latte it's actually hot and not lukewarm, and the foam isn't too frothy but just the right amount of density.
