Scheduled a large party for a birthday and Wence's was pretty accommodating. We got lucky and had the whole room to ourselves where we would have initially had to share it with another party. Score for us! Host, wait staff, food, everything was great! We were able to set up a side table for the cake and gifts and a few balloon decorations before guests arrived. I can't say enough about the menu! Fish, pasta, pork chops, steak, everything was delicious. The only negative, I'd say, was the cheesecake dessert we had as an option. We were a little constricted on time, 3 hour slot, but they didn't rush to kick us out exactly at our end time. I'll be back on my own to check out the drinks. I've heard they're good! read more

Great food and atmosphere. This is my go to restaurant for celebrating, birthdays, out of town guests and the need for something delicious. While I almost always go for lunch, their dinner service is also top notch. My only complaint would be that the noise level inside can get really loud making it hard to hear the people sitting directly across from you. read more

I've heard dinner here is good but now that I'm thinking about it, I think the person was telling me about the oysters. A group of 4 came here for Saturday brunch. Reservations were made so we were seated immediately upon arrival. Service was terrible. My order arrived about 10+ minutes later than the rest of the table. We could not flag our server down to let him know. Someone ordered eggs Benedict + a side of potatoes (thinking there were no sides served) only to realize potatoes were served with the eggs. It would have been very cool of the server to let us know that dish came with what was additionally ordered. The potatoes are huge cut and lacked flavor. Avocado toast is extremely basic. I was half tempted to put an order in across the street at Rooted for avocado toast. The onion rings are very good. Large and extremely crispy. Mimosas.... Yuck! I've been looking for new restuarants to try so I decided to give Wences a try. Called and made reservations since I definitely didn't want to sit outside in the cold. I was asked to show proof of being vaccinated before being seated. We were seated promptly, the waitress came to the table about 5mins after we were seated to take our order, we ordered 2 drinks, cheese bread and crab cakes which was very tasty but it did take a while to come. We finished the appetizers and the drinks and sat there a good 15min before anyone came back to the table. The waitress finally came and checked on us and we then ordered another round of drinks, lobster fettuccine, and the lobster tacos again it took a while to come. They have a 2hr table limit but with how slow the service was we were there longer than that. Overall the food was really good. I would go there again, I would've given them 4 stars but the slow service knocked it down. The waitress did apologize for everything taking so long and stated they were short staffed. read more

It's a 3 star for me. Came on Valentines Day. Expecting superb swamped, but was seated pretty quickly. We were sat at a table corner with no heater, another family probably found better seats and left. We asked to moved and our server- pretty sure is Zach is super accommodating. He is chill and gave pretty good suggestions. We ordered crabcakes, calamari, seafood fettuccine, and seafood dish plus oysters. Oysters, were def pricey. We got the mix combo one. Crab crabs were too creamy- barely tasted crabs. Calamari was alright. My seafood fettuccine though is another story... it did not come with the rest of the food. The runner gave our food to another table. Extended our wait time to at least 30 mins longer. We were pretty calm, but inside we were quite upset. Our server came and apologized and checked in and got the manager to discount the dish. Still we were told 3 mins which turned into 15-20 mins. While the manager apologized... and I understand the kitchen is backed up... I was somehow expecting more. But... I'm def coming back to see what's up with happy hour! My god...This might be my new breakfast spot... Me and my girlfriend came here randomly last Saturday and boy was that a treat. I didn't even know that shopping center existed. I'm usually never on this side of Pleasant Hill. That being the case we walked in and I was super impressed with the decor. Two big screen TVs at the bar is never a bad thing haha. We decided to sit at the bar since the wait time was 10-15 mins and we were trying to make a movie after brunch. I already knew for the most part what I wanted. When I saw that they had a Lobster Benedict, I was already halfway out the door of my house. I'm happy to say that it was everything I never thought I wanted that morning. Both eggs were cooked perfectly and the the Hollandaise sauce had a good flavor. Our bartender however gave us the suggestion that we should try the Chipotle Hollandaise sauce. Best suggestion I had that day. It's super flavorful. It's the one that usually comes on the Filet Mignon Benedict. Ugh that one was good too though...Above all, it comes with super soft and flavorful country potatoes. Such an amazing meal overall. Oh yea. I also had a Bellini. It had a very nice balance of peach flavor with the wine. I need to come back. I j-just really need to back. I need to know that this wasn't a fluke or something. This place was great, went this Presidents' Day holiday eve and we managed to get seated as soon as we checked in. There are good size nice wooden tables and big booths for bigger parties to sit. The lighting was on darker side which I enjoy personally. The service was spot on and the food is a classic spin on surf and turf with some specialties. We got crab cakes and calamari for apps and for dinner I chose the lobster tacos! The lobster portion was generous and amazing quality. I have been wanting to try this place because i see such great things about it on Facebook. I will admit that the food was great, but the wait for everything was ridiculous. There are a lot of empty patio tables, granted it is Father's Day. We were seated at 11:40 and it is now almost 2:00pm. We ordered a calamari appetizer, Cobb salad, hue is rancheros, crab Benedict, shrimp fettuccine, and a kids Mac n cheese. The food was tasty, and i would recommend them for that. As far as service, we were barely waited on, having to ask multiples times the status of our food. It took over an hour for our food to get to us. We also asked for to-go boxes and our check from 3 different staff members, before we finally received it. Once we gave them the card, we waited another 15 minutes before we were able to go. I really wanted to have a good dining experience here, but unfortunately the food alone wouldn't bring me back. Keep in mind, they said there's a 2 hour time limit. So, I've lived in the area for a while, but I had never tried this restaurant. I finally took my dad to lunch there, and we were both pleasantly surprised. I had the veggie omelet, which I wouldn't order again, and my pops had the grilled chicken sandwich. My food wasn't "bad", I've just had better elsewhere. I'll try a sandwich next time. My Chicken Picatta was nothing close to what I know as this dish. Timing, timing. It's all about timing when I dine. Seated quickly, had reservation. Nice table, host plopped down the menus on the table and left in a haste. Wait person appeared, took drink and appetizer order. Boom! Appetizer was at our table in less than 5 minutes. Drink order followed after another 5 minute wait. Appetizer was great. Drinks were perfect. Wait person appeared to take soup/salad and entree order. Told us then about the specials. Took order. A few minutes go by and salad and soup arrive. French onion was perfect. Beat salad was the best I ever had, the wedge looked beautiful. Less than 5 minutes after the soup and salads arrived the main courses came to our table, which we sent back since we just started eating. Once the entrees came back they were great. Chicken piccata was perfect, shrimp scampi pasta was delish, lobster fettuccini was good, and the salmon all great. It was about the timing of the dinner that we couldn't give more stars. I was invited to have brunch at Wence and so I went with the cousins. For some of us it was the first visit and some had been here already. I just love it when there is a parking lot. It makes the experience much more enjoyable. It has the looks of a high-end restaurant. I had a mimosa and a coffee, yes I did! I preserved the Dungeness Crab omelette. It was made with egg-whites, filled with real crab and jack cheeses, topped with fresh avocado slices and spinach garnish and served with home style potatoes. Other favorites were Dungeness Crab Avocado Benedict and Lobster spinach Benedict. Our groups shared a bowl of lobster bisque, so creamy and yummy! We had a little sneak peak taste of their dessert dessert. The apple cranberry crisp. It had apples and cranberries topped with oatmeal crunch...served nice and warm warm! Our server was Valentin awesome! He was polite, attentive, and smiled every time he came to the table. I was told this place had a great dinner menu, so I'll be coming back. Nestled in pleasant hill near a few other restaurants. A large, but narrow parking lot but not a lot of spaces. Came on a Friday night and it was a little hard finding parking. They have a bar, indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated pretty quickly but the service to get our food was a little slow, server was friendly. Lobster chowder - super flavorful and savory, probably one of the best chowders we've had. Creamy, not super salty. 10/10 Garlic cheese bread - the itself bread was really good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was almost like they gave us two kinds.. one plain garlic cheese bread and another with balsamic vinegar. 7/10 Ribeye - id pass on this. The meat was of low quality but to be fair this isn't a steak house. The steak was kind of grey. Not super flavorful but was cooked medium rare like we asked. The blue cheese topping was ok and the veggies/potatoes were good. 2/10 Tempura green beans - these were good but were super greasy. Nice crunch, could've used a better dipping sauce. 4/10 Truffle mac n cheese - this was ok. A little on the watery side and could've used some kind of yellow/sharper cheese. The white cheese was really mild in taste. 5/10 Shrimp scampi - highlight. This was super good and creamy and flavorful. Noodles were cooked perfectly. Shrimp were good size and the sauce was thick. 10/10 Overall, would come back again i get at least the lobster chowder and shrimp scampi and try other things. read more

Came here at 4pm on a Saturday and was able to be seated next outside right away. Staff are very nice and efficient. Buckley bay Oysters were SUPER good!! Priced moderately. On 2/27/24 my wife and I treated a guest to dinner at Wence's Restruant in Pleasant Hill on Oak Park Blvd. The ladies ordered their meals and I ordered a Ribeye steak, the most expensive item on the menu. The meals were served, a young man dropped my cold plate in front of me and did not offer ground pepper or anything else for my steak. The plate was not the only thing cold, so was the steak. Sarah, our waitress whom has always given us good service in our past visits, offered to try to do something about the cold steak, but the ladies were eating already and by the time any "fix" was completed they would be done with their meals and I would eat alone. Sarah convinced me she had reported the issue, so did the manager come by and apologize at any point? No. Not what I call 3, 4, or 5 star rating. Being busy is not an excuse, either your customers are important, or they are not. read more
