I don't have enough good things to say about Wendel, whom I hired to build a small screenroom for a family member on LI. The cost was reasonable and competitive to others I'd received. I had an idea of what I wanted, I tweaked my requests with advisement from rep Bob. The crew put it up within the time frame I was told they would (pushed back a couple of weeks due to delay of some materials), in a few hours with every detail in place. They cleaned up when they left. The result is a perfect space ready to use this summer that looks like it came with the original house and NO LEAKS IN THE RAIN! Highly recommended. read more

This time my job was a window installation project. The sales were competent and professional and the product of high quality and looks in association with this improvement. April 2023 I hired Wendel Home Center to replace my roof,16 windows and siding. The roof project went well. The windows I have problems with them first day that were installed. The bathroom on the main floor, the bag of screws were left taped to the window. The window in the bathroom was falling out and one of the windows in the bedroom upstairs the frame needed to be replaced and wasn't. The new window was installed but the frame is falling apart. But not only that, when you open and close the window the top sash comes down on all the windows. I called the office and they sent the installer to repair the new windows that were installed. He tightened the windows that it takes 2 people to open them. I called the office several times and waiting for the manufacturer to repair them since May 2024.All I getting is broken promises read more

Yesterday we had windows installed from Wendel.. I can't say enough good things about the process. John Di Pasquale came several months back and measured for the 8 windows we wanted to replace. They gave us an upgrade for no extra charge. Price was very fair. .Had also considered Annderson, which looked great but were 3x the price) Yesterday 2 gentleman came and installed the windows. Entry door and screen Installation went well with a minor issue with the doorbell which was corrected. After they left at 4PM we tried to close the entry door which had to pull close to lock. The storm door was not closing all the way with the entry door closed. I immediately left a message on the answering machine about my issue after they left around 4:30. On Monday I called at 10am to follow up. Since I did not hear back from anybody, I text The salesman at 5 pm and explained the issue who called that night at 9pm. He asked if I spoke to CS. No. I called CS the next day and explained the issue with the entry door having to pull shut to lock and the storm door not closing all the way when the entry door is closed. She said both are working properly. Still no contact from Wendel. I called Salesman and said the manufacturer will call to set up an appointment to look at the doors. Finally, Manufacturer Rep contacted me and set up an appointment the following week to look at the doors. The first thing Rep asked when arrived, did Wendel look at the installation I replied No! The entry door he fixed by adjusting the catch which he said was a normal fix. No more issue about pulling door shut to lock. The storm door he could not fix. I accepted his assessment that he could not adjust the storm door to close. As of today, weeks later still nobody - NOBODY from Wendel contacted me if everything was ok from the manufacturer visit or can we help you with anything else! Where is the follow up? It appears Wendel is not aware of the adjustment on entry doors which was a quick fix. In the past I have purchased from Wendel windows, storm door and have recommended to my daughter which has also purchased windows and storms doors. Sorry to say from this experience I will look else ware for home repairs. read more

Definitely do not recommend, took over two years to attempt to get permits architecture plans didn't want to pay the architect even though that was his responsibility took my money plus a second down payment in the end after two and a half years he canceled my contract and kept half of the money did no work at all. He's completely inept full of promises staff is very lazy no one knows what's going on very poor run family business would totally not recommend. he also was unable to obtain all of the permits that were required because he failed to complete certifications that were required by the town and the condominium association would not issue him a permit. read more

My parents have had Wendels retractable awning for 10 years it's an outstanding product. Their complaint with the company is the service department and customer service. The awning stopped working with the remote and we called the service dept three times to have a person come to look at it and finally got a response the third time we called. When we called the service department no trouble shooting was given but to change the batteries as we did. We Had a service tech come to service it, only to find out it was the circuit breaker. The service tech was also in a rush to get in and get out. We feel as though this could of been mentioned while on the phone with customer service and could of saved us $162 for a flick of a switch. read more

As any homeowner knows, home improvement projects can be a nightmare, and finding the right contractor is a daunting task. Rare indeed is the company that is family-run and honorable; I am happy to say that Wendel is one such company. Our goal was to build a screened-in room over an existing patio. We interviewed several contractors, including one well known company that specializes in such projects. Their bid was so outrageously high and beyond the scope of what was needed that it was almost laughable. Fortunately, we found Wendel and what a good find it was. I decided to get an awning over my side door, and had chosen to use Wendel Home Center. Got a call on a Friday from Anna, that they would be able to install it the very next day. Martin showed up at my house around 8:30, by himself, and installed the awning and was finish around 10:00. He was extremely professional and the worksite was just as clean as before he had arrived. That in my opinion is true professionalism. I'm very happy with my decision to use Wendel Home Center. read more

Customer Service is everything and Wendel Home Center are customer service pros. My mom needed some repair work on her siding. We called the original installers and they gave us the run around for months. Called Wendel, dealt with Anna, and she was a breath of fresh air. I emailed photos of the damage, she gave a quote over the phone, called ME one week later to schedule the work, men came on time (even early) did a great job, cleaned up, very professional. Had 2 outdoor awnings installed. My experience was great from start to finish. The salesperson who came to my home for the estimate was polite and professional. The worker who responded to take final measurements was the same. The installers were right on time- in fact, 10 minutes early- and were done in under 2 hours. They worked quietly and efficiently and cleaned up thoroughly. I will definitely use Wendel again for future projects. read more

If I could give more than five stars I would. Wendel has done small and large jobs for us over the past 16 years (roof, dormer shingles, all windows, all entries, and, just this week, they replaced all the soffits (roof underhang, on all sides ) on our 1920 house. They do work on big houses and places like ours, a modest 4 bedroom house. They can do just about everything and do it RIGHT. We keep going back to them because they go above and beyond and have so much integrity, hire and keep the best workers for years and they seem to have their act together. Every job they did was pretty much flawless. They use top grade materials. They rely on their staff to do a perfect job and will redo anything if you aren't happy. But we have been happy each time! In one instance, the red front door of our house was starting to turn pinkish. I called and asked what happened. Without hesitation - and this is over a year after they installed this steel core door and side panels - they had a workman come by, remove the door, expertly paint it with several coats to the true red we wanted and they said it was free! I couldn't believe it! The redo has lasted and looks great. This is the kind of people they are. We found them by thinking we'd search for a company in an area where people are able to maintain their homes nicely. Nassau County, Jericho Turnpike in Mineola. They are just the top. That's all. They did our roof, replaced all windows in our 4 bedroom house, including a very attractive unit that slides open between the porch and the LR, very large and with caning, they installed new steel insulated doors on the side and back, replaced the entire front door unit with door and sidelights, reshingled the dormer, etc. Top quality carpenters and workers. You are dealing with honest, respectful, reliable and competent people. The owner is a sweetheart, a real old fashioned doll with smarts. Yes, he is an old fashioned hard working and honest person, but he's got up to date smarts and this company is very sophisticated and has a large, new store with a wide array of products. Located near Garden City, we had the idea that they are used by people who want a top shelf company and they deliver. However, they are not over priced. We were able to leave the decisions up to them about what was best for us even though we had plenty of opportunity for input. We chose what they recommended: Our roof is an architectural 30/50 year roof and the job was done with a minimum of mess and the workers and head guy were clean and considerate. Our insulated windows are nicer than most: They put in color coordinated caps on the window frames, to match the paint on our house, These very attractive caps which make the look so much more finished than what you usually see. The windows fit perfectly. Intelligent people. 6 years later, everything looks like new and works great. What a nice company. Now I see that they are getting more and more popular around here in Queens even though they are located in Nassau and Suffolk. No surprise. read more

I would not recommend Wendel Home Center to anyone. Not only do they sell shoddy products, but both their service and customer service are absolutely atrocious. First, the workers from the store damaged our wall while removing our old door. They did not bother pointing it out to us or apologizing for it. When I called the store to complain about it, they sent a different worker to the house to look at it who was extremely rude and nasty. Secondly, the door they sold us is a piece of garbage. The doorknob does not work the same way as any other doorknob I have ever seen. You cannot lock it from the outside while keeping it unlocked from the inside. The person from the store claimed that all doorknobs work this way, which is clearly untrue. It is an obvious safety hazard. We had to hire a locksmith to come and replace the doorknob, and he confirmed that he had never seen a doorknob that worked in this manner. In addition, the first time the mailman put mail through the mail slot, the part of the slot on the inside of the door detached from the door and fell onto the floor. The store had to contact the manufacturer to come fix it, which they did, but I cannot believe that the store would sell such a poorly-made product. The mail slot literally broke the first time somebody put mail through it. If you need a new door, DO NOT get it from this place. read more

Very overpriced!! We were looking to replace a standard sized garage door. Upon walking into the showroom we were told it would take a couple of days for a quote and several weeks for delivery/ installation. We were not adding any "bells and whistles". One week later we received a phone call with a quote that was more than double. I informed the gentlemen who called that we decided to go with someone else due to the lack of return call and also let him know that the price was not anywhere near competitive. He said "If you found someone you are comfortable with, go with it." It was obvious from the start they didn't want the business! read more

We contracted with Wendel for an awning over our basement stairs. We thought it was just what we wanted. On installation, the color was not what we had contracted for - we were told that someone had talked to a family member on an unscheduled site inspection and they picked a different color. A minor issue. The installers were fine and did a satisfactory job. After installation, when we looked at it from above, we saw the large amounts of leaves collecting in the channels. When we called to ask what happened to our maintenance free product, we were told that the product we chose was very high maintenance, needing the channels to be cleared of debris and leaves much more often than gutters. Wee were told that the person who did the secondary site inspection told someone on the property that this would need a little maintenance, like gutters. The only cure was to buy a different product, pay them to take down the existing awning and put the new one up. Not what we wanted to hear. Not what we wanted. Yes it keeps the rain out of our basement, but at a very high cost and with a lot of difficulty. We wouldn't buy that again, and based on their concerns for our concerns, we wouldn't buy from them again. read more

Wendel Home Center just finished my enclosed screen in area in my backyard... MY old screen area was built in the 1960s so it lasted a long time. SPECIAL THANKS TO Bob who was at my home over 20 years ago when i first decided to rip this one out and get a new one. like everything else more important construction had to happen. Twenty years later i called him back and he made it happen. He gave me a time frame and he was right on point. i had a roofing job completed a few years ago and was given a lifetme warranty. we had a snow and ice storm around febuary which caused my flat roof to develop leaks. in calling their office a number of times to get someone to look at the damages to this day all i received were calls stating someone would be there to look at damages but no one has shown up. their warranty means nothing consumers beware read more
