Located at the Smart & Final shopping center, off the Curbaril exit, is Wendy's. With all the bad reviews, I was shocked, they nailed my order that had multiple add-ons. Used the mobile app, that was extremely easy. Showed up and had to wait 10mins. From time of order, until pickup, it was a little over 20mins. The only other knock is they didn't give me any napkins. I ordered the Classic Chicken Sandwich, French Fries, Sour Cream & Chives Baked Potato with Cheese, Lg Coke, Lg Frosty and Cinnabon pull aparts. The chicken sandwich was better than McD's, Burger Kings or Carls Jr. Still old school processed chicken patty, like a large chicken nugget. The bun was typical brioche. The veggies were fresh and the Asiago cheese, I added, delivered nice bite and aged funk. The fries were well seasoned and didn't taste bad, but needed to be a little crispier. The baked potato seemed a little under cooked, but was good, as well. The Frosty was BOMB, as always! I found that I needed to add a little milk and reheat the Cinnabon Bites. They were good! I don't understand how you order a Baconator and get no bacon. This was only the start. Gave me the Forsty with nothing to eat it with. The fries were cold and soaked in oil. Having a limited time for lunch, we thought of giving Wendy's a try. It is easily accessible just off the 101 freeway at the Curbaril exit. The interior is clean, bright and modern, with several different seating options. The exterior and drive-thru areas look well attended to. Our selections included Dave's Single and the Bourbon Bacon Cheeseburger, along with an order of fries and a side cup of chili. My buddy had their Bourbon Bacon Cheeseburger, which is a quarter-pound of fresh, never-frozen beef topped with Applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, crispy onions, and a sweet, smoky bourbon bacon sauce, which he enjoyed. He said his fries were hot and delicious. I was not impressed with my Dave's Single (quarter-pound of fresh beef, American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup, mayo, and onion on a toasted bun) as it simply lacked flavor. I was glad it wasn't over-salted to add a false enhanced flavor, but the meat was a bit overcooked. Be aware that Dave's Original Single is actually a cheeseburger, so if you do not want cheese, let the cashier know. The chili was a bit lacking in flavor, but they gave a Wendy's seasoning packet, which greatly increased its overall flavor. Loaded with meat and beans, the chili was topped off with shredded cheese and raw onions. It was decent, but it should be served hotter given we ate in the restaurant. Ordered online via the app and when I went to pick it up, majority of my order was not available or not able to complete. There were no chicken nuggets. No mayo, no pickles, no onions and no way to alter the charge since it was via the app. I asked to cancel the order. They were not able to do that. Ordered a number 3... nuggets.. the girl said they were out of bbq sauce and ranch.. asked for honey mustard... paid, drove off, took one bite of the nuggets and they were ice cold in the middle. I didn't get the sauce or a straw. Had to back... have a baby in the car so went back through the drive thru, they said they had to make fresh nuggets... waited for about 10 min and the girl brought them out and almost threw the bag at me as if she was MAD at ME for asking for fresh nuggets! Just got lunch from here as I was paying the other employee brought my food to the window, which was insanely fast, so I didn't hesitate to ask if my food was made fresh. The cashier agreed with a smile as I drove away I did in fact realize that my food was not made fresh, so I tried to call them. I am giving three stars because overall not everyone there is at fault and the food is not the issue here. Red Flag! Drive through situation. Make sure the total they give you at the speaker is what they ask for at the window. Then check your receipt. This is about more than my $.02 cents. Went through the drive through. The employee (sounds like a younger guy) tells me $19.98 at the second window. Pull up to the window another man an older looking manager opens the window and says "20" (not $20 just 20!) my first thought was "yeah that's what I'm paying with" as I reach for my $20 bill. Hand it to him and thought well I know the kid said $19.98 now I'm curious. Kid asks me to pull around since one of the items wasn't ready and closes the window but now I want to see my receipt that they never offered me. So I wait and they ignore me at the window for a couple of minutes. Finally the kid opens up and I ask for my receipt. He gets it for me, it's at the end of a long list of receipts that weren't given out, and as I review I see the total is $19.98 shows I paid $20 and then says my change was $.02. So I tell the kid "I'm sorry you gave me one total, the manager tells me another, and at the end no change is passed back. I don't really want the two cents but that's not the point here." The manager never comes to the window. The kid apologizes and tries to give me my change but I refuse it saying "If someone needs it that bad they can keep it". So I pull around to the front. The kid comes out soon after, walks up with the order and says "I'm sorry again, here's the two cents". I told him "honestly I don't care about the change. What I care about is people being honest". He says "I really understand we have a business to run here and that's not how you do it. " I replied "My thinking is how often is this done and how quick can change add up. Also if the till is counted and there's cash left over and the receipt shows correct change is given, where does the extra money go?" He said he agreed and understood. I added "My daughter said I'm being a Karen but I'm not mad at anyone I just think dishonesty needs to be brought to someone's attention as it's never okay, you don't let someone try to take advantage of that." Kudos to this kid for his maturity. I feel bad he had to hear it from me but my mind has thought all kinds of scenarios over about how the other guy could have handled it or what his reasoning was and at the end of the day I decided that he chose to just be dishonest. read more

So a new person being trained however the trainer was very snippy and kept saying "I Know" When I said I didn't want the chicken nuggets with my jr cheeseburger she would not delete it saying it is part of the meal. However on the ticket she charged me $7.19. On the ticket was a jr cheeseburger combo that included fries and I wasn't charged separately for that. I was tired of the girl's attitude and just paid the ticket. I felt bad for the young man who was new to the job. I do not recommend this Wendy's at all. The one in Paso Robles is much better. At least they don't charge you for nuggets unless you want them. Also no ketchup in the pump machine. The girl needs to be trained more in customer service. read more

After seeing all the commercials about the "GREAT" new breakfast menu at Wendy's, I decided to give it a shot. WHAT A MISTAKE. I ordered their new sausage, egg, and cheese English muffin sandwich and their breakfast potato wedges. The wedges tasted stale, were cold, were hard as a rock, and, other than stale, had no flavor. I was able to choke down 3 before I moved on to the sandwich. Unfortunately, the potatoes were the highlight of the meal. The English muffin was even harder than the potatoes, the egg looked like it was from a frozen breakfast sandwich, and after I spit out the 1st bite....without swallowing...I just put everything back in bag to put it where it belongs....THE TRASH. Caution! Think twice before going here! This is Wendy's in Atascadero, CA...El Camino Real and Curberill. Went through drive-thru. Order came to $8.68...gave them a $10 bill. Clerk handed me a $1 bill and said they didn't have 32 cents. Would a dollar be ok? "No but $1.50 would be fine. Why should we pay more money? Why don't YOU take the loss?" By this time 5 clerks were at the window! One yells "wow, you're entitled!" "My husband and I have worked hard for almost 50 years, so tell me how I'm entitled??" I decided to have some Wendy's for lunch. They were slow to acknowledge that I was at the counter. I ordered my food. I went to the Fancy soda machine. It's was out of ice. And appeared poorly cleaned. I went to the counter to get ice and notified the personal. Yea it's broken. Thanks for not putting ice in my cup knowing the machine is broken. I went to sit down. the tables were dirty. I was the only person in there! I received my food. I ordered there spicy nuggets. Nope regular and warm not hot. Same with the fries. The store then got busy and people were waiting. The personal had a hard time keeping up. This Wendy's was closed for 10-12 years. With poor service and poor quality and poor location it'll probably close again. read more

Today I thought I would give this Wendy's in Atascadero another chance at our order. And once again they have messed up my order. It was even worse when I got up to the window. Yes I still use money. The girl helping me gave me my change but she only stuck her hand out the drive thru window about 6 inches which caused me to drop a couple coins. I had to lean so far out my car window to get the change and that was not efficient. Then our order came. She gave me all 3 bags at once and once again not going to far out so I could grab them all. Well needless to say I dropped the middle bag of our meal on the ground because of the long reach I had to make from my car to the bags of food. She did not offer to replace the food. That's when I told her to reach a little farther when handing the bags to the patron. Make sure your customer has the bags before letting go. Well I won't be back there. Bad bad service! read more

I have a gluten allergy for medical reasons, and rarely eat out these days, because most places don't understand cross contamination. Wendy's has a decent reputation in the gf community, so on rare occasion I will risk it there or at In N Out, but I always went to the Paso location and hadn't been to the Atascadero location until today. My host was Kyle according to my receipt and I hope his boss reads this because he impressed me! I mentioned my issues in the drive through and he added the allergy note to the order. I have NEVER seen that before in Paso, so that made me hopeful. But then, when I pulled up to the window he said the most magical sentence: "I went back and talked to the cooks to ensure your burger won't be anywhere near anything with bread." Look, I have had to eat fast food while traveling and while I don't eat fast food often, in four plus years since my diagnosis I have never heard any server, in any chain, anywhere in the nation say that sentence to me. Most have no clue about what a gluten allergy or celiac is, so to have someone know and then go back and ensure it's done right --- that's epic! It makes me relax and trust that I won't get sick. Burger was flavorful and the reason I will risk it is I think Wendy has the best lettuce wrap burger. Their lettuce is fresh and easy to handle and doesn't detract from the burger and it's flavors. All I can say is, Wendy's in Paso lost my business tonight. They never have any idea what a gluten allergy is, so I rarely go, even though I love a good Baconator. Whomever is training people in Atascadero is doing a great job, or Kyle is a unicorn -- either way I'll be back!!! Baconators for life. Gotta say...I really like the menu at Wendy's plus who doesn't love a nice Frosty. So that's where they got their 1 star. The rest of this operation is sorely lacking. It takes FOREVER to go through the drive thru. Tonight I stopped by after a long drive to grab Frostys for the family. While they were taking 10 minutes to help the person in front of me in the drive thru, my Frostys were sitting there melting. Once I got to the window it took a 2 full minutes to greet me, then another 4 minutes to process my debit card...all the whole my Frostys sat on the outer counter melting. Once I got to leave they were overflowing and making a huge mess in my cupholders. This is why there have been multiple Wendy's in this location...POOR SERVICE which is solely on the owner / manager. 8/18/20 Went through the drive thru at noon and a very snooty dark hair girl was at the window when we paid. She forgot to give us our credit card and we drove off. Had to turn around and go back. Went inside to get the card and NO one apologized for even forgetting to give us back the card. Also worth mentioning, when I asked for ketchup the snotty girl handed me 2 packets. When I asked for napkins she handed me 2. TWO! We ordered a lot of food you moron... what makes you think 2 napkins is enough?! To the girl working the window- maybe get a job at a gas station working the graveyard shift. That way you won't have to deal with customers since customer service CLEARLY isn't your jam. read more
