Went to Wendys-Kailua for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. The 1st time there was a kid doing food prep with the wildest hair like he was part of the Commodores or Earth, Wind & Fire, with no net. We waited 5 minutes before our order was taken. One of the employees had a stereo on so loud that i could not hear her. As soon as she went back there to turn the volume down, it went back up. The fries were hard as a rock. I had to take it back and asked for freshly made fries. Later, that kid with the wild hair was taking orders. It's finally open! The day I was both excited for, and my waistline feared. They're crazy busy from open to close; the drive thru line regularly wraps around the street. It sucks you have to wait in the drive thru line even if you want to go in to pick up your food, but hopefully the crowds will die down in time. Luckily the line moves pretty quick. Customer service is good, and easily the best fast food burgers on this side! Baconator is the best thing since sliced bread. Most definitely going to be coming back. read more

Aloha to all my kailua neighbors... Today is Thursday December 8th 2022. I had gone to Wendy's with my ohana for dinner. We had ordered their new Italian Mozzarella Cheeseburger Combo on top of other things. When we received the order they gave us the Italian chicken sandwich. We had taken it back to them twice and each time they insisted that what they gave us was the correct sandwich and we were wrong. The third time my dad had taken it back and spoke to the cashier that had taken our order and she double checked the screen and told us that they made it wrong and we were right. When she told the manager on duty ( Jesse ) that they made our sandwich wrong the manager yelled out " I need the meat... they want a fucking cheeseburger now " our receipt had clearly said Italian Mozzarella Cheeseburger not Italian chicken sandwich. When the cashier that had helped us came back with the right sandwich I had asked her for their corporate number or a higher managers number that I could call regarding what I heard the general manager say. She went back to Jesse the manager on duty and came back to tell me that they didn't have a corporate number or higher managers number and to look up Wendy's on Google to look for a number on there. I insisted on getting a higher managers number and all of a sudden they gave me the general managers number. When I spoke to Jay the general manager about the issue we were having she was very unprofessional just like the manager on duty. She then told the cashier to give us a keychain of free frostys for a year and ended the conversation. The second issue we had was when we were eating the food. While we were in the middle of eating our food it tasted funny. When we took the wrapper completely off to look at the burgers they had mold outside and on the inside of the bread. We were seriously disgusted knowing we had eaten mold and couldn't get the taste out of our mouths. At that point we all lost our appetite and didn't wanna eat anymore of the food. I had taken the sandwiches back to show them that there was mold on it and that I wanted a refund. They had given us more problems. I had got back on the phone with the general manager and told her about the second issue. Her conclusion to us eating the mold and having mold on the sandwiches was to give us another free frosty key chain. At that point I was already so fed up and wanted a refund on the entire order. After a while of talking to her she ended up having the cashier give us the refund. The whole time the manager on duty was nowhere to be found and seemed like they were hiding out avoiding speaking with us even though we requested to talk to them. You need to do better kailua Wendy's. Your customer service fucking sucked. It's so sad to see that both the manager on duty and general manager don't really care for their customers. We've gone to this location many times since it opened a few years ago. But this restaurant has consistently glacial service, whether drive thru or dining in. It's close to our house and the kids like the drink machines inside. But now those machines are frequently broken. One was out of service when we went recently. We used the kiosk to order because the kids love pressing the screen options. But I saw no way to use the app code to scan in the offer I wanted to use. My son wanted to pick his drink so I tried to explain to the counter worker that we just wanted an empty cup instead of the soda selected on the kiosk, but she didn't understand and I gave up. I hated to dump out a whole soda. We then waited 15 minutes (at about 4pm) for our food when there was one Uber customer order on the screen in front of us. I'd say they prioritize the drive thru ahead of dine-in customers, but I have also sat in the drive thru line for 20-30 minutes at least twice in the last half a year. read more

Spicy Chicken Sandwich was dry like it had been sitting a while, burger was good, sodas ok, fries, awful. Noting their ad campaign about "hot & Crispy" fries, expected same. Last night, 10/21/24 @ about 6:30 pm, the drive thru line was out to the street. When we finally could drive in, we parked to order in since it was so busy. The order screens were locked so we stood in line. They seemed short staffed but the mgr just stood around talking to the drive thru window clerk. This Wendy's is pretty and the inside is updated. It wasn't especially clean. They have a kiosk to order or you can use the counter. My gripe is that it took 30 minutes to get our order. That's not fast food. The fries have a strange and unpleasant flavor, I think the oil is burned. I love Wendy's but if I came back to this one I would order ahead! Me and my friends went in on Saturday during lunch and it was pretty busy but the crew of five had one 17 year old doing three peoples job. He was responsible for bagging all the lobby orders, mobile orders, as well as working the register. All the other crew members would just stand around waiting for food to get done while this poor kid was running constantly. We stood in line for a half hour and the drive through line was all the way to the street. It had to be the least efficient work distribution I've ever seen. I felt so bad for that kid. A crew of five is more than enough to run a lunch shift. That kid should have been stuck to the register and helped with bagging if he had time, everyone else had plenty of extra time to bag orders. Very disappointed! That's their biggest selling point is HOT AND JUICY, not warm and dry! Drive thru line wrapped out to Kailua road so I thought I'd go inside and order. Waited over 10 minutes in line and not one order was taken by the cashier the whole time I was there. After 3 customers got fed up waiting to order I left too. I love Wendy's don't get me wrong but this place has always forgotten multiple items in my order. Once I had to order 5 salads with classic chicken and none of the salads had chicken. And a large fry. I've ordered breakfast and they forgot 2 orders of the season potatoes. Recently I ordered 2 cheese burgers with no Mayo or bacon and they came with both. Also, ordered 2 spicy chicken with no mayo or pickles and added avocado. They added the mayo and pickles but no avocado but I was still charged for it. Horrible. read more
