I really wanted to like this place, but was sorely disappointed. Maybe they were just having a bad night, but I am unlikely to give it another try. We waited well over an hour for our food even though my husband and I were the only customers for the first hour we were there (with reservations at 6:30 pm on a Friday night). When the food finally arrived, it was definitely not worth the wait. We both ordered the NY Strip medium rare with Mac & Cheese, and a side order of shrimp. The steak was super fatty, basically raw on inside, and absolutely scorched in the outside like it had been dropped directly onto flaming hot coals. The char on the outside overpowered the taste and made it almost inedible. The Mac & Cheese had a nice flavor but was also overcooked to a crisp. The cheesy sauce dried up and a lot of the macaroni formed a crispy crust that stuck to the sides of the dish it was baked in. At least the shrimp was good. I hope for their sakes they work out whatever problems they had in the kitchen that night. read more

Worth the hype - great food, clean and nicely decorated restaurant. Customer service was outstanding. If you want cheap, bland food go to McDonald's. This a a great locally owned place worth the price. Bonus points for their takeout containers! The two small chunks of snow crab claws in the baked cheese macaroni do not qualify as Snow-crab-Mac with three small shrimp‍ on the side with bottled water for $25.00 was disappointing! You have been warned the pictures on this app are deceiving! I will credit the one-man host/server/cook & manager for great customer service with the one customer in the restaurant (me)! I had heard people talking about this place for some time The story about a young, self-taught chef trying to build his dream made me really want to love this place. But sadly I can't recommend it. The prices are sky high for the product and the atmosphere in the restaurant is a little sad. You have to purchase water. No wine so byob. A steak is priced beyond what you pay in most other local restaurants and while good. .nothing that really wows! If you are paying that much it needs to the highest quality and be served in a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Truly needs to focus on vleaning the place.I can name 3 restaurants in town with better quality food, lower prices and better atmosphere. I want this young man to succeed. Food was good as hell, and Wesley was cool too. I got the steak, shrimp and mac and it was good. I originally wanted to try the lobster , steak and shrimp Mac but he was out which sucked but i didn't really mind. My family was staying in Bloomington for a night on our way home to Michigan for the holidays. We have lived in a lot of cities: Detroit, Chicago, Kansas City, Nashville, and now Fort Worth. We love fine dining and steak, and we'd been on the road all day, so we wanted a good meal. We were about to make a reservation at a local steakhouse called Jim's Steakhouse, but decided to ask the front desk attendant for a recommendation. He said if we wanted a good steak, we should go to Wesley's, so we decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did. We had a filet, a NY strip, a pork chop, fried chicken, mac and cheese, fried shrimp, and cheesecake. The strip was the best I've ever had at any restaurant. The beef is USDA prime. My son, who is a pork chop snob, said the pork chop was the best he'd had. I've never had fried chicken and mac and cheese this good before. Everything was cooked perfectly. A couple things to note. First, it is not your typical white tablecloth restaurant. It is small and intimate, with just a few tables, and Wesley is a one man show (cook and server). Because of this, it doesn't have the frills of a "fancy" restaurant, but we loved this about the place. We actually got to know Wesley a little bit (he's young, all self taught, etc.). Second, it is BYOB. There is a bar right next door, where you can get basic drinks, but if you want your favorite drink, you should stop at a local liquor store. Third, I saw a couple reviews where people claimed the prices were high. The prices are very reasonable considering Wesley uses USDA prime steak (the best quality beef) and high grade seafood. My guess is the people leaving these reviews don't understand the difference between prime and choice and the value of other high end ingredients. For us, it's worth the extra to pay more for higher quality meats. In any event, we loved the restaurant, loved taking to Wesley, and will definitely be back again on our way through Bloomington. read more

Dont the outside scare you away, the food is definatley worth it. I got the Prime Rib that was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I am not sure if there is a Eddy V's in the area but i paid triple for my prime rib there and it doesnt hold a candle to what I had today. Do yourself a favor and just see for yourself. read more

Some of the best seafood in town! The prices are very fair considering how good the quality is. You can also tell the effort that's put into every order and its not just pushed out fast.
