West Auto Center is, without question, the best mechanic shop I have experienced in the San Fernando Valley. I recently brought my vehicle in for several services, including an A/C repair, a wheel alignment, and a routine oil change. While I typically use a dedicated service for my oil changes, a close friend strongly recommended West Auto Center, and I am extremely glad I followed their advice. From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming and highly attentive, a refreshing contrast to previous experiences at other shops where assistance was not proactively offered. The level of professionalism displayed by the entire team, particularly the manager, Mike, was phenomenal. Mike demonstrated extensive knowledge of automotive issues and clearly explained the diagnostic process and the detailed cost estimate for the repairs. His transparent communication made me feel very comfortable proceeding with the work. Furthermore, I appreciated the added conveniences, including receiving a discount as a AAA member and the complimentary Uber service the staff arranged to take me home and pick me up once my car was ready. My front driver side wheel was damaged. My suspension needed repair. My fender was mangled and my bumper completely torn off. The car wasn't worth enough to fix the extensive cosmetic work but I need to drive. They gave me the weekend to decide what to do, which really helped. I authorized the mechanical work only, which cost about $2,200. I was resigned to driving a mangled car. I Instead, they decided to bang out my fender and somehow reattached my front bumper making the car look far better, not a total embarrassment! What a gesture for a first time only time customer. (I live a long long way from the site of my accident!) I cannot express just how much I appreciate their work and their gift of cosmetic work to me. This guy tried to rip me off. I came in with an overheating car. I told him the temperature needle had never gone into the red, it only started to climb and then I turned on the heater to keep it from climbing further. He and his mechanics told me I needed a whole new radiator - a repair that would cost about $450. I didn't believe West Automotive because when they claimed I had a radiator leak the drop of coolant they pointed to that "proved" the leak was bright green, like new, not like the slightly grimy fluid in my system. In other words, it looked like someone had placed a few drops there to try to prove I had a radiator leak. I took my car for a second opinion. That mechanic couldn't find a single leak. Eventually all I needed was a new thermostat - a $150 repair. Don't go here. Life in L.A. is hard enough - these people only make it harder. read more

These guys are great, and Mike really does a great job getting me in to take care of my trouble on my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with over 250k miles on it. It's my work truck, and really needed, so he finds the time to fix whatever problem I have in a reasonable timeframe. So far he has fixed my rebuilt engine, replaced my transmission, power steering, radiator, ignition switch controlling my ac/heater fan and other things, AC compressor, belt tensioner, and alternator. I also had an accident, and he replaced the whole front of my truck from headlights down, with factory OEM parts, which I appreciated. He is always fair on price and keeps his pricing competitive. I don't usually leave reviews but after my interactions with Mike i felt it was the least I could do. I had my car towed in for non start and within hours I receive a call for mike saying the reason for the car not starting was because a faulty relay a $30 and an hour labor.
