For being in New England, more specifically Mass, there was no reason to be stingy on seafood or not use fresh seafood. This was so disappointing and such a waste of money. The flavor was way off. Even the steak was subpar. Like it wasn't even seasoned at all, not even salt. The best part of the dish was the vegetables. On both dishes. The rice was just gross. Literally nothing was seasoned at all. It's listed as swordfish skewers and it didn't even serve a single swordfish steak on the single skewer. Horrible. Absolutely horrible. read more

As a restaurant I would on give a 4 rating. Food is ok. I only got the fish and chips. Fish was ok, not memorable. Chips were excellent and lots of them. They offer lots of menu selections. Order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Ambience is sterile. Long narrow room with tables on either side. Service is friendly, but not feeling the vibe in the restaurant. I have always been a big fan of West Boylston Seafood the food and the service has always been great. Recently however, I ordered three 11/2 lobster cooked to have at home. The lobsters were over cooked and rubbery. The meat stuck to the shell and was chewy and tasted horrible. Franky I was surprised that they would allow this to happen. The last three times we went there, the food is just awful - overcooked, dry clams, scallops, shrimp. also, their portion size has diminished. when you spend a decent amount for fried scallops and get 4 and 1/2 scallops on the plate it is quite ridiculous. Arrived on Thursday before Christmas completely understanding that the store would be busy due to the holidays. There was a line of 10 people deep waiting to order behind the deli. I skipped the line and went to the "self service refrigerator" to buy fish stock. I honestly assumed that was the right thing to do so that the deli line remained what it was full service. I tried to buy $5.00 of fish stock and only encountered rude staff ignoring me. The staff was so busy arguing amongst themselves that they couldn't take two minutes to ring me out! Over the past fourteen years, I have taken the opportunity to dine at West Boylston Seafood any time I am in the area. In every visit I have left fully satisfied and with nothing but great experiences. At one time or another, I have tried almost every item on the menu. My favorites have been the Sea Scallop Plate - both fried and baked, Haddock and Chips, Oyster plate - fried, Fisherman's Platter, and the Fried shrimp plate. All of my dinner plates have come with coleslaw and fries. You can also substitute a salad for both sides for a small additional charge and the salad is large. Portion sizes are always large and I typically eat the entree and pick at the side items. They do close early at 8 pm most nights so when working late it can sometimes be hard to get here from my office location in Worcester. I have dined here alone, with my wife and with groups from work and there is plenty of room in the dining area which is clean and comfortable. My only negative would be that I don't get here nearly as often as I would desire but it is a must stop when I am in town. I highly recommend giving them a try. read more

We dined in and mom was served fish chowder that was loaded with big chunks of potato, barely any fish and little slivers at that, and barely warm. My lobster bisque was hot and creamy but had no lobster pieces in it like they used to have, just delivers that came from the carcass of a lobster. Moms baked haddock had absolutely zero flavor. I thought she was joking but wow, it was completely flavorless except for the skin and been frozen and not fully cooked. My seafood was a 'fisherman platter" consisted of a platter of fries with 6 medley whole belly clams and 6 sea scallops, 2 that were no bigger than bay scallops. $54 dollars later we left more than half the dinner on the table as it was not worth bringing home. The Cole slaw was good and fresh but we will not return again. So sad, this used to be one of the better seafood places around. read more

We got pickup here tonight and it was SO GOOD! I got a kids meal, clam strips and French fries. I LOVED it! My roommate got the Fisherman's platter and he loved his too. I tried one of his scallops, YUM. Everything was super delicious. We got a side of onion rings too. Wowee. We will definitely be back here all summer. I stopped in Thursday morning March 16, 2023 to buy some shrimp. I noticed that they had pre-made bake stuffed shrimp. It looked good so I bought 4 pieces. After I cooked it I could smell an ammonia smell coming from the shrimp. You know what that means, ammonia means bad shrimp. Selling the public bad seafood means you get crossed off the list forever. We had one great experience and one bad experience. Normally we'd forgive it but the attitude of the establishment is why we changed our review. We told them our 9.00 bowl of soup was horrible and the staff replied "Yeah, sometimes it isn't very good depending on who made it that day" and then proceeded to walk away. This rating is for the takeout service; I've never eaten in the dining room. Slowly but surely, WB Seafood has become my go-to place for any seafood locally. Everything just gets better each time I visit. Food quality is superb, nothing has ever been under- or over-cooked, and the staff somehow miraculously manages to never make a mistake and always get the food done on time. Busy weekend night? No problem! Complicated order? They will get it right! I have to admit, I used to go elsewhere for anything beyond basic fried fish and chips, but WB Seafood now is the best in the area for everything from baked stuffed shrimp to fried lobster. Been there several times, never a disappointment. The food is the same quality as you would get at a much higher priced restaurant. The only real downside is the cafeteria style atmosphere, although getting good seafood for less than $20 per person is definitely worth going for. I was truly disappointed at this establishment today when I bought $70 worth of lobsters and asked that they throw a little ice in the bag they were in to keep them on my ride. The young man who waited on me told me I could buy a bag of ice right there in the cooler rather than toss a cup of ice in. I didn't like it but I could understand that. The worst of my visit was as leaving when an elderly woman (70's) walking with a cane was trying to enter, I held the door open for her and as she was entering and got through the door, A young girl behind the counter was yelling at her telling her she could not come in telling her to walk around the store and get in line like everyone else. That is the most disgraceful thing I've ever seen at any business in my life. I will go back to the fish store in Worcester and never shop there again. read more

What a cute little spot! Randomly stumbled upon this place after coming from Old Stone Church. We were greeted with warm smiles by staff and surprised by the affordable menu. Stuffed sole was gray, undercooked and not very tasty, calamari was over coated with batter and the chowders were basically bowls of corn starch or flour with some clams and potatoes in them. We went there for Mother's Day and spent over $115.00 for a family of 4. My daughter took a bite of a bad scallop and she asked her dad to double check to see if it tasted bad. It WAS bad and he nearly threw up at the table. It was a horrible experience. They said it tasted like the bottom of a porta potty or vomit. The waitress walked by as my husband was trying to not gag. She was very kind and immediately took the plate away and said she would take the meal off our bill. She offered to bring something else and we hesitantly said maybe a cup of chowder, although at that time, we lost our appetites. My husband and two daughters were unable to eat their scallop plates. Full plates of food were left on the table. We tried to not make a scene and left. Later, we called to talk to a manager about the situation because we felt that out bill should have been adjusted more, since no one could eat their scallops afterwards. The manger said she would look into it and call us back and never did. Overall, it was a disgusting restaurant experience, but we are thankful for not getting food poisoning, just a slight upset tummy afterwards. read more
